    I'm not sure whether there a specific thread for Wallpapers, though I'm sure I’ve seen links to the odd download site. With today’s game giveaway having the ability to add more images I thought it would be a great idea to create this thread so that you can all post your favorite links to wallpaper sites. My first one is called Digital Blasphemy. You have to pay for most of the images from this site, but there is a free section that has some excellent fantasy imagery based on real life settings (well almost). I do have links to several other sites, but not on this computer, so when I get the opportunity I will be posting them here. If you go to Google Earth you’ll find loads of links to individuals own libraries of images; for example, I found a site while looking at images people had posted of the Grand Canyon region. (I love geology, so the Grand Canyon is on my list of places to visit before I die)

    If you don’t have MacAfee’s site advisor installed do be careful though as I clicked on one site called Desktopia which kept redirecting me to other sites, and others to risqué sites. Another way to find good images is to use the image search engines. You can specify a particular size so that it filters out the smaller images. Most images can either be copied to the computer or captured using a screen capture tool (there’s a freeware one in the freeware library)

  6. Great idea to start a wallpapers thread. I change wallpaper every couple of weeks, so am always on the lookout for good pics. Digital Blasphemy's free gallery and user gallery are great options as is gate to nowhere. I have also found some intersting stuff at;

    http://www.morguefile.com/

    There are also a number of links on this site that some may find useful for today's jugsaw puzzle;

    one more option is;

    Found by sourceforge, a multimedia-graphics-editor-swiss-army-knife-wallpaper-thing :

    WallPaper (alias crawlpaper) is a desktop changer (not a screensaver) which includes a crawler for web download, a streamripper, an audio player, an mp3 tag editor, a picture browser, a thumbnails generator, a wrapper for Berkeley DB, etc. Want more ?

  18. Hi everyone. I've been skimming through the links you've all posted. MrFishy's is my favorite. http://www.Caedes.net

    It's got to be one of the largest and best quality sites I've ever seen.

    Not to sound 'spammy', but I'm also a member there.

    You can check out my personal gallery here:
    http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Gallery&author=DaletonaDave&page=1

    I mostly do fractal art, but there are a few in there that aren't.

    Enjoy! ;)

    Wow! I've only now gotten around to exploring the links in this post and grabbed a few beautiful wallpapers. There certainly are some great ones available. Thanks.

    I've just been using my own photos, changing them as the mood struck me. Recently I was forced into getting a new monitor. My old CRT finally died so I now have a wide screen LCD with a 1440x900 resolution. So in looking for what to download, I filtered for and searched for my resolution. Just for the heck of it, I googled "1440x900 wallpaper" and found "Pixelgirl Presents". She has links to many artist created desktop wallpapers, iphone wallpapers, icons and more. Take a look.

    http://www.pixelgirlpresents.com/

    Another place to find unusual wallpaper is at deviantART. A search there produced 95,215 results for desktop wallpaper.

    Hi Dave, nice fractals, I noticed a few referenced to music tracks such as The Sweets 'Ballroom Blitz' and Sabbaths 'Master of Reality'. I hope you don't mind me copying a few to put into the Infinite Jigsaw Puzzle that was given away the other day. I've copied loads of images into it now and find i'm actually getting into jigsaws. :)

    Question:
    Could somebody be kind enough to explain the How & Where one stores wallpaper?
    I know H2 sub 1 wallpaper w another. I know H2 do screenshots. I know H2 copy/paste images. I know H2 use photos as background. I know H2 fit images in my different screens/resolutions.

    What I need to know - When I find images that I like, but do *not* want to use immediately:
    -How do I go about putting them in the right place for later use?
    -Where is the right place?
    -How do I enter them in the desktop window "Propriétés d'affichage"?
    -Or transport them to another PC?
    -Or make backups of the place where I stored them?
    -Is there a "Wallpaper Manager" or something of the kind, that everybody is using?

    I've been reading the Wallpaper threads around here for a while now, hoping to learn the "How/Where", but nobody mentions it, leading me to believe this all procédure is common knowledge to everybody but me.
    I never learned anything about games, icons, wallpaper or fonts. You know... all the fun stuff!! Only real work, like Excel & other dull stuff.

    Since now games & icons are understood, would like to go forth onto conquer the wallpaper thingy and later it'll be the fonts thingy.

    Please explain it in plain Anglais, not in Tech lingo.
    Merci beaucoup.
    PS: All my PCs are in French, so sometimes if directions or paths are more complicated, I can't get there, since everything has different names.

    LeKanaw- You can store the wallpapers anywhere you want. I created a folder named "Wallpapers" within the "My Pictures" folder. When you are doing "H2" to change wallpapers, press the browse button and find the folder you created to store the wallpapers and select one from there. Hope this helps you.

    Hi there Mangoette,
    I concur with the others who say you can store wallpaper anywhere... just keep it out of direct sunlight. :-) For standardization's sake, I set up a main folder called WALLPAPER in which there dwell a bunch of subfolders -
    Eyecandy (computer art & fractals)
    XXEyecandyXX (ahem)
    Nature
    Cycle (the "Copy To" folder where I put copies to be used by BioniX wallpaper changer, though I don't use it very much)
    TinkerWithThis (pictures that'll make great wallpaper once they're resized because - as is - they're too large for a centered display space... like a kid with a divided dinner plate to keep the gravy out of the peas, I don't like wallpaper to touch my desktop icons)

    Glad to see you back and holding tightly to that mug o'mango juice.

  28. Hey WhiterabbitUK.

    I don't mind if people take them as long as they're not used on another website, or online collection, etc. without my permission. I actually tried my "Ballroom Blitz" image with that puzzle program too. It makes for one heck of a puzzle eh? ;)

  29. hey gang! Just spent the last hour and a half browsing through these wallpaper sites! There are some amazing pics out there and I downloaded at least 8 pics for future use.

    LeKanaw; I also have a "backgrounds" folder in my pictures folder. In backgrounds, I have several sub folders; one for each season, night skies, sunsets, holidays, food, anaimation/cartoons and misc. It really makes it easier to find what I'm in the mood for.

    Of all the sites listed here, I also found MrFishy's link; http://www.caedes.net/ to have an excelent assortment and high guality pics. Bookmarked it and will return to view more in future. Thanks for all the great links everyone!
