Thanks for the input graylox,I'm using IE and not sure how much that matters in all of this (as to what options are in the popup window)when right clicking on a thread topic. Will just have to experiment with all the information given.
One thing for sure,With all this talk of lasagna I'm getting hungry ,and as you said a person need not know how to cook it. My idea of cooking a great lasagna meal is to pick up the phone and order out!!!
I have noticed about this forum that (like myself we have a large number of over 50ish members with a little snow on top of the mountain,if you catch my drift)Ha!Ha! (get it snow, drift,).
    OK!! bad joke!!
It is comforting to know that a person can come here and post a question, which might seem simple to some and get such a friendly response.

    @delenn13
You probably didn't think this would turn out to be over 30 posts already.

    Thanks to all

  2. No, I didn't think it would be 30 posts...LOL I got lots of snow drifts in my yard too. :)

Just a suggestion... you might try practicing in a blank new email as it supports hyperlinks so you can "see" right away if it works or not.

  4. Now you can't do the fancy mancy stuff like RM posted some games Here

But you can do the basic copy and paste and play around.

    Welcome in the GODT-Senior-Gang, scubaguy!
I was astonished too , seeing such a lot really grownups with young hearts here.
The only thing which is frustrating me, is my bad English. Before I got my post ready to send, the threat is already dead.

    but now ... weired

    2. EDIT

Thought that would be a suggestion, that the "gang" should get free e-mail-accounts for bypassing GODT's non-fraternization term ! ?

  7. LOL...That's because I edited the post. I had two http://'s. Hey I am old...allowed to typo.

BTW graylox, my next door neighbor is from Germany. When I first met her, we used her little dictionary/translator a lot. I still have to help her with correspondence but her English is getting better. She has more trouble writing it than speaking it.

You OTOH are really good with your English writing skills. So don't put yourself down.

I think we should start an "over the hill gang".. and HTML is FUN, FUN, FUN. I started out with a book called "HTML For Dummies".. way before they had programs to do all that for you!
delenn13... age has nothing to do with typos! LOL
and gee, it just sank in... graylox, is that like gray on the head?? Like locks of hair? Or lox as in lox and bagels??
and scubaguy.. instead of lasagne, we had sketti tonight! The over 50ish members just shows to go you that we are now reverting back to our 2nd childhood, and playing games!!

Gray - all over now, LOCKS - nearly all gone, Bagels - hmmmm

ENGLISH - once perfect till that remarkable day, lost some abilities and got a lovely son, so I can't say that day was bad, there was only for little oxygen in my brain or something like that. Before that, language was my thing, writing speaking, German, English, couldn't sing or draw, no, writing - that was it.Long way coming back even in German. Having some kind of stress, means blackout, for hours or days or even weeks. So, I'm very glad, that I am writing this and here, it is not self-evident to me. In the background are 2 dictionaries and than this spell checker, but the spell checker only checks the spell not the grammar or syntax.
So, after this novel I'll write a letter for my grandchildren in Swedish.

Hi I'm back, the lasagna was delicious.
@ graylox your English is fine(I just made the connection with your ID and age)well Duhhh!!
I do understand your frustration in the time it takes to get your comments down and then posted,I'm what you call a hunt and peck typist so it takes me awhile to get the words down, and when finally sending the post, it is usually 2 or 3 behind!
Now as far as this link thingy, when reading a post by Whiterabbit-uk on a different thread,in regards to a game ,all of a sudden the light turned on.I refer to thread,

    http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/2454?replies=7

Huhh!!did everyone catch that,as the saying goes "I couldn't see the forest because I was standing to close to the trees" (or is it the other way around? You get the idea.

Just went to post this and already there are 4 or 5 posts in.I think I'll try to learn to type faster before attempting HTML.
@copmom POWER to the"over the hill gang"
@graylox Are you kidding Me German,Swedish, and English!!! I was born in this country and still have trouble with English,my hat is off to you for your linguistic ability.
As far as this link thing, and causing all this trouble, when the answer was right in front of my face ,I have self imposed a punishment and will now go stand in the corner untill class is out, Spent a lot of time there in my youth.

If you look at your comment about 7 posts up,in the sentence,( Now you can't do the fancy mancy stuff like RM posted some games Here)The word" here"is a link.
If I'm understanding what all you have tried to teach me,this is when the HTML code comes into play.Correct???In other words to make the statement(Go to this page)a link is when you would use the ( <>/ )symbols(I realize that is not the proper format)but the code would be used before and after the statement to make it a link.
So in order for you to get the word "here"to be a link, you used HTML,right?

    You got it!
Think I'm too lazy for coding html, even more typing.
You are "a hunt and peck typist", I use the famous eagle-system :
tree times circling and then knock down.

  15. scubadude - can I suggest - one good way to handle the intimidation of html is find a few simple webpages - then in your browser - "view Source" - this will open up the html in your default viewer (usually notepad.exe).

Sure a lot of the stuff you won't understand at first - but if your brain is wired the same way as mine - it's handy to have a finished cake to taste while reading the recipe book. The penny will drop when you are looking at the cause and effect - and say "Ahh so that's how that works".

Learning HTML for Scuba Practitioners - What a terrific way to get started !!

How's my grade for the 'more books' post for succinct with back references, BuBBy?

Figured people were missing out due to the 'disabled' in the original title- and it was in the wrong forum, oops. :-)

BTW, once you really want to chew on web pages, the firefox 'web developer' add-on can really twist your mind.

Yes, scubaguy, That is correct. Told you it wouldn't take long. :)

  22. Now see above... To quote you, I used "em" to use italics. To make BOLD you use "strong".

See how copmom typed this to try to make BOLD....<b>this</b> (In my other forum this would work). You use this format but substitute "em" or "strong".

  24. I have found that there are 2 types of people, usually. Ones who can RTFM and just do it and others who need "hands on" experience(have to see or do it themselves to learn).

Any chance of uploads/screen shots happening here anytime soon? That could really be helpful at times.

    RTFM (nawty nawty!)
I'm usually in the latter camp, delenn - to heck with a manual, just show me a "key" or walk me through something once and we're off to the races. Readily available on-line photoshop tutorials have done more to help expand my abilities with The Beast than slogging through Adobe's manual could ever do. IMHO, on-line manuals are practically useless (compared to hardbound manuals), and the burgeoning field of "<Topic> for Dummies" books are probably the least helpful of any hardbound teaching aids.

    Posted 8 months ago #
  27. Yea I know..naughty but I can't count how many times I have seen it other places in forums/sites.

You are in the same camp with my hubby roasting marshmallows. He "don't need no stinking" manuals/directions etc.. :) If he needs to know how to do something, I have to figure it and then show him. Typical male.

All you gals gotta stop busting my chops for something that is clearly SOP in the animal kingdom. We're genetically hardwired to delegate, that's all! Think of it this way... evolution would have taken (at least) twice as long had we males done everything ourselves. Right now, you could still be sitting in a tree somewhere. There is one example when males tried to do everything themselves, and look where it got them! (seahorses)

    Hi, everybody,
you know I'm depending on dictionaries. One of them is "Urban Dic." RM suggested it to me.
So my friend, what do you mean with "SOP"? Def.1 or def. 6

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=SOP&page=1

    and "chop" ?
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chops&page=2

No I don't ask about "seahorse".

I don't like manuals, learning by failing, frequently getting a bloody nose.
But the day will come and I can bold
