Due to popular demand and request, we have here offered one freeware game that has a distinctly different venue. Enter "Tempo", a 3D platforming and puzzle solving video
game. And not just your average, everyday challenge either. "If the X-Men taught us anything, it's that one should never mess with wheelchair-bound psychics! Telekinesis and astral projection abilities make platforming and puzzle-solving a lot more manageable. But Tempo stands out among 3D independent games as a little artsy and very polished."

Roll on over to http://www.igf.com/php-bin/entry2008.php?id=319 to get the offering from Day 8.

    Hi FreewareFan

Looks like a great game from what I saw on the site.Unfortunatly the only thing I’m getting when starting the game is the opening screen, which shows the clock and the moving figure. At that point I loose control of my pointer or rather it is not on the screen.
There is a moving thingy by start, but no way to control the screen, arrows on keyboard do nothing either.
Opened the word doc… file but it's in a foreign languge. What am I missing? Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the other great links!!!

I think Ambassador Delenn is around too, she speaks Minbari, maybe that could help...

FF, if there is a need on translation for the game to work, send a shout, u now where to find me.
    Ciao and goodnight :-)

Unfortunately I have the same problem as Scuba guy. The intro to the game is really good, and the music, which reminds me of some of the Polish music I have (thanks to my sister in law who lives in Poznan), that's very good. I'm really wrapped that I can't get this to work as it looks like it's going to be a killer of a game judging by what I've seen so far.

Following the link to the Independent Games Festival I also downloaded the latest installment of one of my favorite platforms Gum Boy Tournament, which 'm going to have to buy if it's as good as the first game. I didn't realize that a sequel to Gumboy Crazy Adventures was being released? I've been too pre-occupied to notice, lol. Anyway, I'll be checking out the Beta Demo just as soon as I've finished cleaning up my discs and doing some overdue back ups.

The Goo game also looks promising. I thought it was going to be similar to The World of Goo (which I pre-ordered on impulse as I love unusual games). See my link to the Freeware featurettes of the soon to be released game; (mid February) Tower of Goo and Tower of Goo extended as they are great time wasters and may even convert you to the World of Goo, lol

    p.s.

If you've not tried Gumboy Crazy Adventures, then you must, as it's a cool platform game (as cool as you can get for a platform apart from Wik and the Fable of Souls), though it doesn't look like a platform. The art work is beautiful. You can also get a full version game called Gumboy Features, which is a full level that contains all the different features that you can find in the Adventures game. One of the Independent Games Festival's entrants to this years competition i.e. the Gumboy Tournament beta demo is also found on the same page as the other two.

I haven't forgotten the reviews for the last two games you've posted; I've just not had the time to write them yet. Too many games to play, lol.

  5. Sure I can translate but I will have to make time in my busy schedule. :) You may have to take a number and wait.

Right now I am working on a project for my "Software Forum". http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sware They are working on their yearly poll of 2008 Member Choice FAQ's DSLR Software Forum Recommended Software. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,19158700#19158700 You might find something of interest in there. It lists both free and payware and why people use it. My contribution poll is Pop-up Blockers - 2008 Member Choice. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r19733944-POLL-Popup-Blockers-2008-Member-Choice

Took me a week to to research programs and set up the poll as I had no idea how to do that(but I got help). Now I have to write up the results..which once again..I haven't a clue how to do. But I have been given links and several people have volunteered to help if I need it.

This is the forum where I learned about GAOTD. :)

I thought I was going to get this to work today as I momentarily got the mouse working along the top edge of the main menu. Something struck me about the graphic and i realized that the clock face is none other than an image of the Mechanical Clock Screensaver that as given away quite some time ago.

The game stares at me invitingly, with the hauntingly beautiful music drifting out of my speakers. I thought, "I'd like to get a copy of that", so checked the game s folder and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the music was there already in a playable WAV format. There's several tracks that some may find worth keeping. The following were particularily wonderful, though one had the mechanical clock striking it's chimes and some ticking sounds at the beginning, and another more sombre track cut off at the end:

Musica Juego --------5 Minutes and 28 seconds
    Puesta Creditos------2 Minutes
Musica Estatua-------2 Minutes 40 seconds (this is the sombre one)
    Fondohabitacion------3 Minutes 35 Seconds
Carpe-diem Musica----3 Minutes 44 Seconds (sound of clock for first 10 seconds)

Apart from Estatua I'll be keeping the rest in my various music folder. :)

So even if I never get this game to work, which will be a great pity as the sound effects I checked out definitely are intriguing, I will have gain a little more music to listen to. You do need at least Adobe flash player 8 and service pack 2 for this game to play.

I've Emailed the Developer with a description of the problem I've been getting and have reference this page, so hopefully he will take the time to register and reply. If not "Cest la Vie" I suppose. (that's the extent of my French apart from single words and a few other phrases like 'Mon amis' lol

By the way, if you want to see whatthe game looks like, check out the video (you'll need to downld it) that the developer has in the download section of his home page. It's 71.5Mb in size

Yeeesssss!, I figured out what was needed to play the game......

    A brain......

For some unaccountable reason I assumed the game worked with the mouse. The main menu is so well done, and as someone mentiones above, very arty, that I'm sure that's an easy assumption to make. Damn, the developer is going to think I'm really in da da land, which I am most of the time I suppose.

Anyway. I though I'd try and install it on my slowest computer, which I did, but noticed that the animation that runs in the background goes really slowly and lags tremendously. Though while watching it, I started pressing all the keyboard keys and suddenly saw the menu cursor move to the credits. so after a few minutes of playing around, in which the game had frozen completely, I returned to the copy on one of my faster machines and tried again............. Success!

So to start the game you press Q. The WASD keys are your movement keys and the A and D keys are used to cycle through the menu on the firt page (main menu). You can check out the controls required, which are very few. I'll write a review of this game over the next few days. I'm in the middle of writing the "Platform the Game review at the moment, so don't want to beak off to check this out otherwise I'll be knocked off my stride.

The introductory sequences of the game are quite dramatic, made so by the visual imagery and the music.

Just check out the controls first by moving the cursor to 'controls' using the D key then click on Q to open the menu. Once you've familiarized yourself with the controls click on Q to close the window and return to the main menu. You can either use the D or A keys to get back to the start button. Once the cursor is next to start, click on the Q button again and get ready for what looks like a good game, though this is only an assumption as I've only watched the first few images so far..... lol.

I'd better contact the developer to let him know I was a sleep when trying this game out earlier. :)

    Note:

It looks like this game was made for those with faster machines in mind because trying to play it on my slowest machine that has the following specifications; it runs very slowly.
    2.2GHz cpu
Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS 256Mb RAM Graphics card
    1.54G of RAM

Oddly, though I know the processor is a 2.2Ghz, when checking the specifications using the dxdiagnostic tool it says the cpu is only 1.1GHz, which is wrong, so maybe there's something wrong with the cpu as the computer does generally run slowly, though when playing games they work fine.

If you have XP you can run this tool as well by going to the start menu, clicking on run then typing in dxdiag and pressing the okay button

I've finally finished the review, which i meant to post a couple of days ago, but it took e that long to get my brain in gear to realize that the game was never made to be controlled by the mouse, which I thought was the case because of te quality of the main menu. Anyway, you can see the full review of the game by following the link below:

Despite this being a very large download for a freeware game, at 127Mb and once installed over a quarter of a gigabyte, unless you are on dial up I'd highly recommend you give this one a try.

    To Whiterabbituk
I'm running the game on Win/xpHome/SP2,with no problems at all other then my own stupidity can't seem to figure out how to get across the bridge,or make it swing into place,in spectre mode.
I D/L the game to my laptop with Win/vista Premium, game started fine and went through a few intro screens and then crashed and had to use task manager to shut it down.
If I find out more info. I will pass it on.
Thanks for the review and especially for figuring out how the controls work,as this is my favorite type of game!!!

Hey Scubaguy, us gamers have to stick together, lol

Have you tried going back to the bodily form and then using the power key Q and the ASWD keys to move the bridge? I've not actually got that far yet, so I'm assuming you can return to the bodily form anywhere in the game by pressing the Z key and not have to return to the room where you left it?.

According to the developers instructions, the power is used in this form by depresing the Q key, then those objects that are moveable can be moved using the movement keys mentioned above. Let me know if this worked.

I look forwards to your input when you can :)
