  1. Graylox, the PBS special was pretty awesome... as these sample video/sound clip downloads demonstrate (some are large files requiring a bit of patience)

  2. This CNET site is touting 75,425 FREE MP3s. Not sure what the catch is, besides the fact that a lot of the so-called "music" seems to be the disrepect-spewing ghettoish crap that makes ears bleed and gives sensible people the urge to dig their own eyeballs out with a spoon. OTOH, the site offers at least some decent music -

  3. Hi RM,
yes indeed those graphics are great !!!
    And they doesn't cost $ 495.-- ;-)
In the WWW are so many treasures hidden that 24h don't be adequate to enjoy.
Only this above mentioned article will fill some days and nights.
I'm really glad i did retire from job and politics; and I'm even more glad that Pfizer
found that little white-red pill that took me out of the fog after 8+ years - but that's another story.
Hopefully Mr. LeKanaw will find these links. I think he would enjoy the music-films.

Just saw your 2. post -
yes you have to find the pearls in the sand. Had some problems hearing your finding, got an error message. The download is only a snip - I hate snips of music.
But that bit I could hear, was so appealing (don't know if this is the right word?) that I'll try to get the not amputated music.

Have a nice day or night

PS : I'm in a melancholic mood right now, just now 34 years ago my daughter did her first cry, and I can't see her, she lives 12 hours away.

  4. RM...OMG thanks for that last link! I've been wanting something like that since MP3.com went commercial. I knew the indies had to have moved somewhere else, but where to look? There they are! YEAH You! I love music that is small stream:)
Graylox thanks for your links too, when I get a faster connect I'll check them out. 56k sux!heheh!

  5. Graylox,
Not sure what happened to the Lekanaw twosome, or that little furry hamster or Whitewabbit. Work and Life have a habit of getting in the way. Considering the importance of the mom/daughter bond, hope you were able to dispel your melancholia with a phone call lasting no less than an hour or two.

That animusic ran the gamut, from humongous files to short (clips). It's all worth watching/listening, IMHO. As for learning, have you visited this site? -
    http://www.macmillandictionaries.com/resources/games/games.htm

    lidol...Idahl..LDAHL,
Glad you liked the MP3 link. I'm always looking for free new age music and environmental sounds, and now that Netflix is offering free unlimited instant download/watch movies and tv series to lure me away from productive activities, music is the only thing that will keep me focused. A while back I posted a very customizable, ad-free radio site (www.Slacker.com); but can't recall if I included links to a couple free environmental sound sites then or not.
Work is intruding here, too, so I may be the next to fade into the background for a bit.

  6. Hamster has been in the dark along with the rest of Northern CA. She's back on line now after a few days without power. Hopefully her lights and computer will stay on and she'll be showing up here for her fix:))

  7. Hi RM
    meh
no, I don't mean your link, "meh" is just the word of the week and new to me. You see, I'm going on with large steps - meh.
Thanks for the link, it will help me coming back.
Once upon a time I was able to speak English like a native, I learned it as a little girl, could read English before I came to (German) school, learned it from English comic strips. The old teachers - all "gut deutsch" were not amused...that was 1951, reeducation was not that successful in provincial towns and rural regions. For lots of people it was betrayal to speak English or French, to read comics was forbidden in school, and listening to BBC-hitparade --- ojojoj- "Negermusik".

--Yes I had a phone call to my daughter about 5 minutes, she was in a hurry, had to bring the children to their preschool and had to be in time at her university.

That's it for now :"Work and Life have a habit of getting in the way".

Hi pips, hope all is good on your neck of the woods.
The LeKanaw twosome [that was funny :-)] has not really been absent, just didn't post.
Had a big problem w my part-timer(ie she didn't open the bookstore on the 26(!) we had to go downtown, so we only realized we were closed late afternoon) and so we are short now. In the meantime we had a 4th big snowstorm in a row, temperature fluctuations =from -28°C to +9°C to -18°C within ~48h= (no, of course there is no climate change!! It's just our imagination!) made the snow turn into ice, very heavy on the roof, LeKanaw-2 had to go up there to break it into chunks and shove it all off. After that he got sick; on the 31st he got into bed and stayed there for a week. And on it goes... You really don't want to know the rest!

Have some stuff to post about music (yes, yes, trying to stay on topic, no worries...) that I think would be interesting. Just last week I found some very very interesting stuff.

    Will do it asap, or humm as soon as I finish exploring all these new links of freeware/games that keep popping out 'round here... :-{
FF was supposed to give us a break on that front, in January, but... I don't trust him anymore!!! I think he finds pleasure in torturing us. Damn you!!!

I had started throwing all these links in a folder "à classer", but stopped doing that, as the folder was ultra full and I couldn't remember what all this stuff was for. I'm too organized, confusion makes my brain spin! I can't keep up!

Oh goody, there is no game today!! Yeahhh, one less thing to do/explore/dwld.
I'm so behind in my reading/learning, it's not even funny! As I said, just can't keep up.
    Peace, Manu

PS: RM, u were in charge of that project, remember? Making FF stop during January. And I did send u the material to blackmail him! Being a Sage *and* a Mage, I thought I could count on you to make it happen. *sigh* Can't count on anybody anymore!

Yes indeed, the "Animusic" stuff is quite interesting(thank you RM).
This is the kind of stuff that fascinates the Hubby!

And we even have the DVD! We contribute regularly to PBS, and on one occasion they offered it.

If one of u wants to borrow it, I'm opened to suggestions.
What am I saying? Duhhh!! (I'm so last century sometimes!) I should make copies to send, no need to "borrow", geee!!!

@ Graylox, I'm still going through the rest of your list, I know most of them, but there are some surprises :-) Thank you, Merci, Obrigada :-)
    Peace, Manu

Yeah, thanks for the links guys. I've been so busy with gaming over the past few years that i've neglected my music searches. There are certainly some excellent free music to be found on the WWW. That's hats so great about these forums as they are a breeding ground for people to post their fortunate finds.

Have a great new week folks

I am so confused I don't have a clue where to start. I admire so many of you and am trying to learn. I am so backwards I can't find my a??....I read and read and sometimes it even becomes clear so please don't get mad at me if I ask stupid questions. I feel myself lucky that I stumbled across this website with such great persons involved. Some of you have taught me more than you'll ever know.

  13. Don't feel stupid about asking questions - because there are other people who would like to ask the same question, but are unable to find which socket their keyboard plugs into. If you have a question - just start a new topic and "ask away".

In the Let's have "Fun Department"... or was it not the "Argument Department"?... Haaahaahaha!

    to RM:
My friend, please sit down & put down the Mango Juice!
You may either have a heart break or a giggle attack, don't know which...
Quick transcript of an article I stumble into, under the heather "Music News", although this is neither about music nor news...

««Clay Aiken asks: "Who is this guy Monty Phyton?"
As he prepares to start his role as the chickenhearted chevalier Sir Robin on the Broadway musical 'Monty Python's Spamalot', not only did he admit to not really getting the revered British comedy troupe's humour, he was labouring under a strange notion of exactly who or what this Python is.
"I thought Monty Python was a person".
Upon his first exposure to the Python brand of absurdist comedy, the singer was initially none too impressed, adding "The first time I saw it I thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever seen in my entire life".
"Could we surmise that this most famous second banana of the 'American Idol' franchise possibly may have been miscast?..."»»

Indeed!! What else can I say? :-D
    They know nothing about humour!!!

For the Art Lovers amongst us

Found this website in my travels, from a guy in Switzerland.
    www.microbot.ch/microbot23/root.html

When u arrive at the site, make sure the sound is on, then click away...
Some amazing stuff. Just the attention to detail on his site is Wow!!

Found his Art through another site, made this one my wallpaper:
Microbot: "Drug Free Zone" (A rather strange title...)
=> Real & Whimsical at the same time.

    Enjoy, M.

    Gee, right brain/left brain!?

    www.depthcore.com/pack/34/

Microbot's "Drug Free Zone", is the 3rd down on the right.
But there are many very fine ones by other artists, like the "Henoch" by Polaus, the "Stay Alive" by Hejz.

  17. Lekanaw, the mango juice theme has mutated! As I recall, you were Ground Zero/Patient X, spilling it on your keyboard, right? Then you tell ME to put it down to read a blurb on a musical (I wouldn't normally be caught dead looking at musicals so this will be a first!) and somehow bubby's caught the mango juice on another thread. Can only surmise that is what the CDC has been warning about... mango juice is highly contagious.

    Hmmmm
Don't watch American Idol, didn't know who Clay Aiken was. I thought even residents in New Guinean rainforests would know what Monty Python is, so you'd think a guy cast in a musical would be familiar with brave Sir Robin even if he doesn't "get" the humor.

K8 acknowledged (on another thread) that there are some who don't "get" british humor (me, I think it's much funnier than american humor, excepting for Mark Twain, Bob Newhart... and George Bushisms). Perhaps these humor-challenged individuals are the same folk who laugh at today's dumbed down newspaper funnies or at Bevis and Butthead?

Regarding your swiss microbot find... the web site seems to be down at the moment. Even the primary domain wouldn't open. Will check again later. The other link worked. Thanks muchly for yet another digital art galleria to add to my EyeCandy collection! The title of his picture was odd. "The Shire on Acid" seems more apropos.

Now that the plane has come to a complete stop, please undo your seatbelts and resume sipping mango juice. Disregard the scuffle in the rear of the plane. The sky marshalls have just subdued a TOS violator. No one was in any real danger.

Great site Great artwork, thanks for the link. I can see I will be spending some time looking, as my system is dual monitors and some of these will look great stretched across both monitors as background if the size is right.
Having no problem with the “depthcore site” using some as backround, but when I right click on artwork in the “microbot site” all I get is a small window opening up with settings for (Adobe Flash Player), what am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
Although the second site will keep me busy for a while, the futuristic artwork is my favorite.
    THANKS AGAIN

@RM: "The Mango Juice theme has mutated!"
Indeed it has. It has been much fun :-) to see it jump from thread to thread, while me and my keyboard are still suffering (roll eyes) from that original gaffe.

Funny u mentioned "Guiné", it's one of my Countries. Not that one, there are several "Guinés". It's a popular name.

Well duh, don't u dare (and I mean it) associate ME w American Idol or any other such crap. I clicked on the article bc I saw Python on the title, then had to Google, see who that ignoramus was. Just sad that Idol [yeah, there's one in Canada too /:-(], Survivors, brainless sitcoms and the like are what passes for Music or Culture nowadays.
I watch mostly the News(NOT Infotainement!) and mostly on BBC, CBC, TV5, PBS, none exactly known for their commercial side or to be subservient.
Although I must admit I'm a Doctor fan - Love the new incarnations :-)
But then again, it's British!!! They spend 9 months to shoot 13eps, so right there u see a difference!!!

Yeah, I saw Kate's remarks, and wanted to send her a little word, some of us do respect & appreciate Britt Humour a lot!!! Some others are just 'Buttheads' (or Bevis?)
    =>Hey Kate, hope u'll read this! ;-)

    @scubaguy Hi there :-)
Well, "dual screens" how lucky some ppl are!?!
Already right there, don't know if I like you!! So, NO Mango Juice for you!! :-((
[Can u spot the green colour pointing it's ugly head?] *sigh*

Don't have dual screens, so tell me, u stretch the same Art across both screens??
Si oui, je dis c'est mirabolant!!
    Plizz, ssplain...

On Microbot's site, did u see the helicopters, oil fields, explosions, etc?
Didn't u have a big window that popped? With the arrows?
Going there now, don't remember what I did.

    *************
I'm back - Ok then, go here: http://www.microbot.ch/microbot23/root.html
Then on the left 'square', choose "Art", and the 'disk' will pop into the 'server'.
When the Art appears on the right 'square', hover over it. Hopefully several arrows will appear.
Click on the 'UP' one. A window is supposed to Pop Out.
Then, on the popped window, click the right arrow to go to the 'next' one (left to go back).
I'll be around, tell me if it works! If not, we'll try something else.

Don't forget to put the sound on.

    Hi LeKanaw
Thanks for the quick reply,I was so busy checking the 2nd site you provided I forgot to look for your reply, So on to the problem at hand.

Well, "dual screens" how lucky some ppl are!?!
Already right there, don't know if I like you!! So, NO Mango Juice for you!! :-((

Don't know if I'd like Mango juice anyway,I'm a gin and tonic man.
Now if your not sure about me because of my dual screen's your going to really hate me , because I am in the process of trying to hook up a third monitor,Try not to gag on the mango juice!!LOL
Actually I'm just lucky to have a cousin who is a computer geek of the highest order who gives me his old equipment,( because he knows I have info. to blackmail him with)just kidding!

so tell me, u stretch the same Art across both screens??

Yes this is done with a program called "Display Fusion" it can actually span 3 screens or more, with no distortion provided the wallpaper picture is the right size.
Another program similar to this is called (Ultramon) both are for multi monitor setups.
As to your instructions with opening the windows, that all works, but when right clicking on the artwork to set it as (desktop wallpaper) all that happens is a window pops up for "adobe Flash Player " and no option to set as wallpaper. This works fine with the other site, just not the "Micrbot site" and of course that has one picture I'd like to grab.
In regards to sound, all I'm hearing is the helicopter nothing else ,am I missing something?
I do appreciate the help, but if the problem can't be solved,it's no reason to spill your Mango Juice over. It's still a great site.

Si oui, je dis c'est mirabolant!!

Are you Swearing at me in Klingon!????

    Posted 10 months ago #
  23. I have dual screens... that way nobody can sneak up on me. I knew about Ultramon - but thanks for the tip on Display Fusion. Another freebie multi monitor taskbar (not as good as Ultramon - but 100% Free) is http://www.mediachance.com/free/multimon.htm

    Hi SG

1=>Yeah, I just saw what u mean by the "Adobe Flash Player" thingy.
I hadn't right click on the pop up window yet!
Diantre, maybe we are NOT supposed to steal his stuff?? Me dono 8-(

2=>In the DeptCore site, under "Untitled Dreams" I found another Microbot.
Just per chance was this the one u wanted?
I went through the 12 themes on the left, that's the only other one I found for now.
But you do realize they have other themes, right?
Just click on "View all Packs". Those 12 are only the latest of 32!!(wow!!)

Anyway, I never use Wallpaper or Screensavers, so I must be the wrong person to ask. Don't know much about it.
I just really liked the Art and his site is quite special. I got the "Drug Free Zone" on impulse for the Hubby's laptop.... :-)

I'm sure one of the 'cracks' 'round here will be by soon, to help you w it.
Everybody here is very nice & helpful. (Well *NOT* everybody, but u get my meaning, yes?)

So u liked Microbot's stuff too?!?!? What a neat site!
--Or are u talking about the other DeptCore's artist?
    Peace, M.

    Hi BuBBy
The creator of Display Fusion is working on making his like Ultamon.I haven't tried it myself,(ultramon)but one of the differences is that with Ultra.... you can have separate task bars on each monitor, but if you have it, you already know that.
I not sure what other things it has that DF doesn't its been awhile since I've taken a look at the site If I'm not mistaken Ultra... has a trial ver.. not sure. If your interested I can dig into my favorites and post some sites for wallpaper specifically for dual monitors, even screen savers.
Just took a look at the site you linked ,and I saw my favorite word (FREE),but I might have to wait till tomorrow its late and the keyboard is starting to look fuzzy.
But if that site can give me multiple task bars that would be great!!!
As said in my previous post I'm going to try and hook up a 3rd. monitor, with out multiple task bars the primary bar gets really crowded.
    Thanks for the link.

    Posted 10 months ago #
  26. The free multimonitor task bar I posted - supports 3 monitors (you lucky lucky dog)

also separate task bars - the thing I like about it is hotkey support to push a window from one screen to the next - and the taskbars are updated also (to only show the windows on that screen) - I does have some glitches - but it was written for the developers own use - and he decided to share it - so I guess, if it is good enough for the developer, it's good enough for me (for free).

I agree both sites are great,I had the same thought as you about looking for the microbot artist on the second site,(great minds think alike).
Also after looking around I found another link on microbots site to even more good stuff.

It's going to take awhile to check all this neat stuff.
When I wake up tomorrow,or today or whenever, you’ll be to blame for the bags under my eyes, do Mango slices on the eyes get rid of bags???

    Hi SG

Thank you for the explanation about the Art in the 2 screens. Indeed, that must be something!

-Hey, aren't u the same guy on the other thread that was 'boasting' about just getting a free new external, second hand from his brother/cousin/neighbour/...?? (forgot who it was)
Well then, you weally weally want ppl here to hate u!! And on top of it, a 3rd screen, indeed!!! Pufff
I'll let u know mister, I know people that knows people, I know were u live, your kitten is not safe, don't u tempt me!! I have a sword, and don't u mind FF, he's spreading lies, it's not a plastic one, I say!, and I have proof!!

Now u'r officially excluded from the Mango Juice AND from our Picnic!!

-About the sound on Microbot's site:
Huhmm, can't u hear the music? It's quite beautiful!!!
Can u at least hear the voice? The special effects?
Well, don't know what to tell u. Maybe u have something not configured right?? Could u re-check the sound card??

-No, it's not Klingon. I have several in my bag, not that one (yet) though ;-)

    -Just thought of something!
Have u become a member of the DeptCore site?
There is a button to contact members. Maybe u could write to David Fuhrer... Could also let him know we have discovered his site!
And there is an address on his site too.
    Peace, M.

PS: Sorry, took me awhile to post the follow up, was busy w something...
