Does anyone remember? - I know the link came from here somewhere (probably a few months ago) - a legitimate site that offers free software (games, I'm pretty sure) and they have a price associated with them, but you don't have to pay it to to get the game. I know this sounds weird, but I truly remember getting there when I didn't have time to investigate further. I know there was some way to ask questions - because it wasn't apparent at the site that you didn't have to pay and someone asked, "What about the people who don't know it's free and pay for the game?" or something similar and the answer was - That's OK too!

It wasn't any kind of warez or peer-to-peer site or anything like that (so don't get nervous, mods). I'm sure someone here with a good memory must have seen it.

    Hi Face,
Yes, Yes I do remember reading that post!
It's good that u quoted that sentence bc that's what clicked for me.

"What about the people who don't know it's free and pay for the game?" ----- "That's OK too"!

I'm not 'gamer' per se, just play occasionally as a de-stresser, so didn't pay attention. I have enough trouble keeping up w the ones from GGOTD :-)
Still, I did a search here - found nothing as usual[grrr, very flaky this 'search' feature, can never find what I'm looking for!!]. And I looked in my games folder bookmarks too, just in case, but didn't find it either.
Maybe one of our "Games Gurus" has better memory?!?! Grey cells aren't what they used to be, I'm afraid :-(

If u find anything, lemme know, yes? I'll definitely bookmark it this time!!
    Peace, Manu

http://www.liberatedgames.com/gamelisting.php - Games released as free, in source (may be engine source only and require content from full, shareware or remake to play) or as binaries (fully playable but not fixable/tweakable).

The latest news, SimCity open source released as Micropolis (the original working title) - EA retain control of the SimCity name for approved releases, including one on OLPC.

Thanks for the links, guys - always glad to have more free games to try. But so far, I don't think it's the one I remember - don't give up - the collective minds here have never failed me yet. Somebody must have bookmarked it!

One of the girls posted about Game tap (no disrespect meant when I say girls - it's meant to be a term of endearment - see my anecdote at the bottom of the post), where you can download full version commercial games for free though you do have to download the game tap manager before you can play them.

    Here's the link:

I once called a woman lady and she blew her top saying that she was offended by me calling her a lady. The resons were so corny that I had to laugh but that only made things worse. She was deadly serious though, so ever since I've always been wary of the way I address you lovely females

    :)

This seems as good a place to ask as any . . . When I 1st found GAOTD I found a similar site that also gave away software for 24 hours. It didn't seem as slick/professional as this site, and although I bookmarked it, I still can't find it or the bookmark. Anyone know what this is? I wasn't sure if it was bad manners to ask, but since someone already is, I will chime in. any help appreciated.

  11. Hi, lizil, this is the only site I know, but they are only announcing freeware (with many useful links):

I tried to, but some people just wont listen :) no matter how reasonable you try to be. Personally I think she'd taken a dislike to me from the day I started working on the unit (I was training so was considered a student, even though I was in my 40's at the time {student usually conjures up images of young , youthfull students and not an old crinkly like myself - though most people still think I look like i'm in my late 30's early 40's - which is great for the ego - my wife didn't realise how old i was when i first met her on a marine biology field course I was a researcher at the time and used to help the lecturers out while in the field} waffle waffle waffle - lol

oh come on whitebunny! we love rambling, especially when there is a real story.

you should also know by now that most of us "ladies of the night" (oh come on! there are plenty of threads where we all discuss what night owls we are) are not so easily offended...........just don't call me ma'am, it makes me feel old.

Hi Whiterabbit, found a wiki for you against the next laughing attack, # 11 seems very appropriate.
