The following are some simple arkanoids I found earlier. They are not up to the standard of your Ricochet Infinity or Magic Ball 3, nor the freebies from Gametop, but they do offer some light relief, especially if you enjoy playing breakout/arkanoid games.

New Arkanoid:

In one of your long journeys, you found an ancient treasure map. The map showed that to find the treasure, you must collect 7 ancient stones. Your mission is to start looking for these 7 stones. You will find them during your journey to get the treasure.

http://www.geocities.com/aseldawy/arkanoid.html#download (less than 1Mb)

Starz:

Good news for arkanoid lovers, Gametop appear to have increased their stock of free good quality arkanoids recently. You can check them out; there's ten free downloadable arkanoids (Sawnoid, A-Ball (aka Nuclear Ball}, Geometry Ball {aka Twinxoid}, Cosmoball, Brixout, Starball, Turboball, Scaraball, Aztec Bricks and Egyptian Ball plus another online one called Maya Ball

http://www.gametop.com

There are nearly 90 full version arcade games available from Gametop now plus nearly as many online games and all for free. As mentioned countless times there is a small price to be paid for getting these games for free. Whenever you've finished playing the game and close it down, your browser is opened to the Gametop page. Personally I don't mind this as it's a small price to pay for a perfectly good arcade game that normally retails for nearly $20. I've checked every game and none have been infected with viri or other malware. I have noticed that the more recent games also have a tick box that you need to uncheck when installing otherwise your browser will be diverted to the gametop page.

If you do forget and then find your browser does open up to the Gametop page you can easily change it back to whatever you use by right clicking on your internet browser and select internet properties. In the home page address window ensure the browser address you wish to use is typed in for example

Google: http://www.google.co.uk/

or you can click on use default to return it to it's original for example if you are using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser it will probably be MSN:

MSN: http://uk.msn.com/?ocid=iefvrt

nonprofitshoppingmall.com, everyday giving starts here.

Everybody likes to get %%% sales discount.
Here is a great opportunity (for our US friends) to give these discounts to nonprofit-organisations of your flavour. I'm sure, there is something similar for other regions. Because I have Fibromyalgia I have chosen the National Fibromyalgia Association as an example. http://www.fmaware.org/site/PageServer
From the homesite:
"I found a great way to support our favorite causes. By shopping from this site, a portion of every dollar we spend goes directly to a nonprofit organization that we choose. This site has all our favorite stores - with their same great products, services and prices and no extra fees. Best of all, we get a hand in directing who benefits from the shopping we already do. It's so easy to use we should start here for everything we buy online."

Hey Guys,
I don't know of any real good free fax software, but some of the best fax software I've ever used is a product called FaxTalk Messenger Pro 7.5 by Thought Communications. It is Vista compatible which was the real downside of winFax Pro, but FaxTalk allows you to import your contact list and past history from winFax Pro and that is definitely a benefit that you don't get from free software.

GAOTD doesn't give away enough photo and image editing stuff, right? So, when a still picture just isn't good enough, try FotoMorph. It scored a perfect 5 wingdings on Tucows. Might be useful for creating age progression photos of accidentally misplaced elderly relatives for milk carton BOLO posters.

another fun one is http://books.google.com/books

"You can see books in Full View if the book is out of copyright, or if the publisher or author has asked to make the book fully viewable. The Full View allows you to view any page from the book, and if the book is in the public domain, you can download, save and print a PDF version to read at your own pace."

It's actually a great reference source too, because all the books are searchable, and even many of the ones still under copyright will show relevant snippets, that can be several pages long. Great for research projects, or just general reference.

This isn't technically a post about plug ins, but I thought it would fit in here rather than making a new thread. I recently updated to Firefox 3. I was disappointed because I couldn't get the new themes to work. I found that a lot of other people on other boards were reporting the same problem. I love the themes here: http://www.bluecatsgraphics.com/ It's not all cats-- My favorite theme is there, called "curacao." Anyway, the theme wouldn't update, even when I tried the workaround of using IE to download the theme, and then dragged and dropped the theme into the add on window.

So, to make a long post shorter, I found this workaround for the problem: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons#Corrupt_extension_files
(I was getting the "unexpected error -203" message when I tried to download a theme that was definitely updated to work with Firefox 3). I just wanted to make you all aware of this workaround, in case you have problems.

Also, here's a good site for tweeks/tips for Firefox 3: http://www.feelfirefox.net/

When I was a really quick picture resize, I use resizepic.com. It's very simple, with just a window for the location of your pic, and then you manually put in the size you want. It's not fancy, but it's quick. :)

ohh, that powertoy , that you gave link for, is really intersting , copmom!

sadly, I am on vista on my new computer, but i would really like to have the Image Resizer : This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

anyone knows a similiar one for Vista?
thanks!

Salut
Found this last year - MyPictr - http://mypictr.com/

Doesn't do anything better than others.
But it's just quite practical when u need to change the size of a «Profile Pic» u need to upload to a Social Network site, like F8, Last.fm, YT, Blogger, Skype, etc, etc ...

They know which size for which site the pic needs to be.
Just choose the name of the site the pic is for, they'll do the rest

Thanks Copmom for that link! I had it, but somehow lost it... Glad to have it back! My brain!!
Thanks Spirit, lots to explore :D

Peace, Mangoette

Spiritwolf: Here's what I posted on the comments section for today's download.. it works:

What you need is a free little program called Image Resizer.. it’s a microsoft program that’s in the background, you simply right click on your pictures (or batch of pictures), there will be a pop up box and then you click on resize. You have options on how small you want them to be, like for sending in emails, etc., and can keep the original one as well. Go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx
Scroll down and on the right hand side of the page you will spot Image Resizer.

I tried and tried today to post my comment about today's Giveaway and also post links for freeware photo resizers, but after almost a dozen attempts, nothing at all happened. My comment never even showed as "waiting for moderation", it was just simply vanished.
