For the retail price: *at least* lifetime license please!! (also for previous buyers ... or then who buy whithin a year ago ...)
Lower the price! More icons, not just epic old ones! Update icons and program! (last update 3 years ago ...) but asking a premium price?? No go. And ... processing time ... 10 seconds with a SSD and Intel Core i7? For example : 'Change Folder Icon' (also a GOTD-offer) can do the job in a jiffy!! Work on it before you ask a premium price!! This is not the way things work!! Always *always* be in progress. Not rest in peace. Stupid marketing-policy, sorry. Not passion-driven. Handy tool, yes - yes!! But not this way. There are alternatives, much cheaper - better done. Anyway, thanks for the offer.

Good tool, but all programs (and icon packages) from this softwaremaker are riduculous priced!! While very poor changelogs... unbelievable. Let's say: 20 euro/dollar for file + foldermarker PRO with all icons included and the're in. But now ... no. Not at all. Extremely bad marketing inside. They would (spam), but can't (sales). There's simply no huge need for this kind of tools vs. (!) this prizes. That's all. Simple, that's *all*.

As a suggestion, the program, when installed, should be part of the mouse right click selections so that it would be easy to make color changes when dealing with that program. Currently , the program needs to be run and then selections are made to make the color changes. To late....need it when it is thought of and needed.

I am getting an error when trying to change the color of the Icon. One would think a simple software such as this would work out of the box.

Thanks for the offering. Uninstalled.

Marked files are difficult to fined in multi levels structured folders. I suggest, instead of file marker to be able to do Folder marker, that way, you can prioritize the files inside the folders, much easier and more efficient way.

It does not work on certain file types such as exe, pdf, html (and others) files by software design.
It was supposed to function for text files.
Tested it on a text file and it failed twice to change the icon to a color marked one.
Perhaps because I have associated text files with Editpad that has its own icon for text files.
In process the side effect of this software scrambled all my desktop icons twice.
The software seems poorly coded.
There is room for improvement.
Even if it was to function properly without bugs, the choice of file icons are
so limited as to render the software useless.
Uninstalled immediately.
The uninstall process requires a restart in order to flush out a particular dll.
My rating of this software is 2 out of 10. (0 being the worst and 10 being full score)

It doesn't work with all filetypes and it works only in MS Explorer, not in Total Commander.
It works with TXT, COD, DOCX, XLSX, PSD ...
It doesn't work with PDF, EPS, INDD, PUB, PAP, PHP, HTM, 7z, EXE ...

I get many errors from the program. May be it has problems with Windows 8.1 (64bit here) as someone else has stated.
Uninstalled.

Unable to mark .torrent file because it is an "unregistered" filetype. Arcticline, would like to see a list of registered filetypes before purchase.

List of registered fiule types depends on software installed on your computer. It is individual for every computer. You need to have software that opens file by douple-click. After this FileMarker.NET will be able to work with torrent file type

Filemarker is for marking individual files, not filetypes. However unlike Folder Marker, this program doesn't allow user to add own custom icons. For that you need to rebuild the ICL files in the Filemarker folder. Maybe in a future version?

Thanks for the information, not the answer I was hoping for as marketing file types would be really useful.
Looks like mine isn't working so I'll uninstall it.

Installed and registered with a longest registration code I've ever seen, seen shorter books.

Decided to try it on a file, right clicked selected Mark File, chose a colour but nothing seemed to happen other than a grey box appearing on the screen.

Decided to look for help, but there is none, so finished up as confused and with the same questions as “d adams” in comment 1.

Hopefully the developer will give an answer to this, if I mark and EXE file with a certain colour, will all EXE files become this colour?

Totally confused by this program, maybe someone else can explain how it works.

You have two Mode! One to mark a file, and one to mark several files.
After installation, you can right-click on a file to change color / priority of that particular file as desired. Took me a while to come to grips with this, but now it is very easy and good!

From the editor's web site :
"FileMarker.NET is a compact, intuitive and easy-to-use Windows file icon changer."
So I think you have to change (e. g.) all .exe files by yourself... if you wish.
The notion of marking or coding used by FileMarker.NET Pro refers to a personal choice, implemented by someone. Nothing systematic ou "Windows-matic".

FileMarker.NET can't mark files, that have icon inside (exe, ico, icl, etc)

This is from the maker of Folder Marker which was an earlier giveaway. Does this program color-code the files by file type or file name? So if I choose color-code .jpg files, are all jpg files color-code at once. Or must I color-code each .jpg file individually?

Reply   |   Comment by d adams  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

No, it codes files separatelly. I.e. you can have one marked jpg file and another not marked.
