Installed fine, but wouldn't run. Gave me error messages about DirectX and Direct3D; perhaps my computer's just too old.

Hi, It is nice wallpaper but it doesn't do much other than have those flies move around. But the real problem was, that it blacked out half of my screen and no matter how much I refreshed it stayed that way until I rebooted. Then it was fine but after running for about an hour the black half screen came back so I removed it. Windows 7x64.
I also think that some customization should be included like adding in creatures, bugs, songs etc.

#33, Tom, your comments are nonsense. When applications terminate, Windows frees up all resources which they were using--I think that even the abysmal and long-obsolete XP will do that. The registry doesn't become "tangled-up". I find that the major problem with Vista+ is that they can be permanently damaged by crashes, which are usually caused by device drivers. I've decided to stay away from beta drivers--they can fix problems, but aren't worth the risk of crashes.

#33- Your point is well taken. At least by me. Just yesterday, I played around watching some miscellaneous screensavers fro a while, then quit them, with none loaded. It was not long, everything got too slow, then some stuff wouldnt even run, got errors, etc.! Had to do a complete reboot, then all was fine. I never really thought about why it happened until I read your comment. Thanks! I dont suppose it could have been a coincidence, but I do think it was the screensavers, and wall papers I was messing with.
Case in point, I uninstalled todays wallpaper. Could not get it to quit loadiing EVERY time I rebooted! Plus, it made my programs run S-l-o-w.

I f you don't want to mess up your registry dl Toolwiz Time Freeze-It clones your system, creating fully working copies that you can use normally (or abnormally) without risking your "real" system.

"I am a Software Engineer and Beta Tester and I have a degree in Computer Science. I have been in this business for over 30 years, so I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!"

Oh, who cares? People have been using screen savers for years. Yes, they're resource hogs but give people a little credit to make decisions about their own systems.

The fact that you have to brag about your credentials and type in ALL CAPS doesn't help your case any, BTW.

Experiencing the same problems as #6 and #26. W7 32 bits. It causes problems to IE that crashes frequently. Uninstalled obviously
I've got another one I made myself with the Wallpaper maker they gave away and crashes itself from time to time.
Pity the developer can't deal with these issues...

33 Tom

your saying
I noticed that also.

by default my screensaver is off
must been 10 odd years the last time I was looking at a screensaver

but there are folks out there who like them
gotta admit, some of them look rather nice
from today, I seen better looking screensavers

#33(Tom): seems to me if you don't run an app then it won't take up any resources (except HDD storage space which is cheap & plentiful these days). Also, there is software out there for freeing up memory (that Windows is too dumb to release) so what's to worry about?

I haven't downloaded this so won't comment on how good or bad it might be, but for those of you that can't stop it loading with windows despite telling it not you, I think that if you go in to SERVICES and disable it there this will solve your problem. Hope this helps.

To open the SERVICES window click on START and type in services.

LESSON 1:
Everytime you install and run a screensaver or other app, you eat up memory. Not only that, when you close the app, the memory is NOT always released back to the system. This is why I NEVER EVER EVER use, install, run a screensaver.

So, if you are running a screensaver, remove it and reboot your PC.
Then, when you are finished on your PC, turn the monitor off manually.

**ANY** APP YOU RUN/INSTALL IS NOT PERFECT AND THAT WILL DEPEND ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE DEVELOPER WHO IS PROGRAMMING IT.
THESE SILLY APPS DO NOT ALWAYS RELEASE ALL THE MEMORY IT USES WHEN RUNNING, BACK TO THE SYSTEM SO SOMETHING ELSE CAN USE IT. This is why periodically you may see, "System out of resources" or such screen errors, and sometimes, you may get a blue screen of death.

So, all these bells and whistles you all seem to like are just plain FOOLISHNESS. Run your computer wisely and it will serve you well for years to come, instead of several years!

I read some of these comments and I have to shake my head at some of you. If you must entertain yourselves with these apps, get yourself a test PC, something older and cheap to test them out with memory tools, so you can see for yourself how heavy and unstable they are.
THEY USE VALUABLE SYSTEM RESOURCES, not to mention, they actually 'TANGLE' your registry sooner.

I am a Software Engineer and Beta Tester and I have a degree in Computer Science. I have been in this business for over 30 years, so I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!

Please look at your PC as a living entity, which I know it is not. But, if it were, would you do just anything to it for the sake of entertaining yourselves, not knowing what the program or app CONTAINS that may destroy it or damage it where it would then be necessary to re-format it? THINK PEOPLE, THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE INSTALLING!

#3 ASBY, don't listen to #24 Terry! Norton Antivirus, is one of the best "paid" antiviruses around! One of the antiviruses that he recommends, is a free Antivirus program and I would put a paid version up against a free version anytime of the week and see the differences! So, by all means, keep Norton AV!

I don't have a dual monitor but I could see the use in being able to run a screen saver on just one monitor. But as far as I know no screensaver does that. It's something for the developers to consider.

This is basically a package with one desktop to help them sell more animated desktops. It would be better if a number of desktops were packaged together.

I told this program NOT to start when Windows starts, but it starts up anyway! I just wanted to try it, and maybe keep it to use occasionally, but every time I reboot Windows, the clock is there. How do I make this stop? Removing it from startup folder doesnt stop it either. I have tried everything! This is a ok wallpaper, but I dont want it running all the fargon time!!!!

Fantasy Clock downloaded and installed on my laptop XP sp3 without any issues. It is a lovely wallpaper. After I shut it down then go to 'start', 'programs' to reopen Fantasy Clock, there is a 22 second wait time until it opens. I have 1.99 GB of Ram. It is a keeper for me, thank you GOTD & DesktopPaints.com.

Really nice idea. But it seems you have to buy additional wallpapers. It does not seem to work on a high resolution 1920x1080 the clock is off screen and there is no way to adjust it as far as I can see. In fact there are no preferences to edit really.

Hi, Gosh, it's like seeing a ghost from years past:) - when these animated clocks were a novelty, and I (an arty animal:) for one couldn't get enough of them..They all came from this Site: http://7art-screensavers.com/ ,and for free. Now they all tick about, lol, in my old PCs.. and if I get very nostalgic I reach for my all times favorite - Rainy Clock, the one with ladybird on a blade of grass and autumn lief as another hand of this cute arty clock.. Enough said. Free choice for those who are into such things. As always - anything "free" regards caution, so be smart.

Beautiful, tranquil, Wallpaper from a reputable developer.
Thank you much, GOTD & Desktop paints, for this offer.
Dadams (#6)-you can easily set wallpaper not to run on
Windows startup by unchecking it from the msconfig menu
Startup tab's list of marked startup programs - easy as pie.
To begin, type "msconfig" without quotes in win search box.
When "msconfig" utility pops up, left-click link to access it,
Then follow above guidance to disable wallpaper on startup.

I love Desktop Paints’ Animated Wallpaper Maker, Animated Screensaver Maker and DP Animation Maker, which I all got here as GOTD (although my DPAM of last week is not fully functional :( ) and I took the license of AWM. I really have fun with these very addictive programs, and I dare Giovanni himself to find an equivalent freeware.

But I don’t find their own production very creative and, IMHO, it doesn’t advertise well for the software it was made with. In any case, it definitely wouldn’t be worth buying one of their readymade wallpapers or screensavers for 8 $ when for 30 $ (full price of each of AWM, ASM and DPAM) you can make as many as you want, and very easily do better, even if like me you have had no artistic education and entered the computer age late in life.

I thought then I might giveaway some of my own attempts. Each zip contains two wallpapers on a common theme. They are on my Dropbox. It is homemade stuff, no risk, they are just heavy because of the mp3 soundtrack included (which of course you can mute). They also all have a clock.

I am afraid this is a thumbs down for me. This is set to run with windows start up. When I tell Anvir to delete the startup entry, the wallpapers exits. I can deselect the "start with windows" option in the wallpaper but the next time I start the program, it is again selected. The option to start with windows should be decided by the user not the program. To me this is a good but not great animation. Certainly not something I would want running all of the time.

As usual, Desktop Paints has provided us a great looking wallpaper. I believe the "Wall of Fire" was the last one we were offered here. Unfortunately, these are typically met with exceeding amounts of thumb downs, and rants about useless and resource hogging wallpapers. Take it or leave it.

I happen to like having an assortment of eye-candy screensavers and wallpapers in my collection - free from GAOTD, and if system resources are an issue you can just disable it.

Thanks to Desktop Paints, and Giveaway of the Day

There's not a lot to say - it does what it says it does. Personally, I love screensaver and desktop animation programs especially with a 3D monitor. People always vote these down like crazy so I may be in the minority but it always feels like Christmas when one of these is the GOTD.

I have to disable Norton to run the wallpaper. I just wanted to try it I don't ever use wallpapers. The price seems to be reasonable.
