A registration key was never necessary to enter. In fact you don't have one to use.

Running "activate" after install is all it should take. Then its registered just fine to GAOTD, as is the most common situation, and you can verify that with "About".

But as Suze indicated in #30, don't run it immediately from the install process itself. Rarely a good idea. And be sure to allow everything to complete its part of the cycle. It all went very smoothly. If that didn't work, a full re-install may be called for..

Thanks to Extreme Internet Software + GOTD.

...............................................
To address the remarks in this forum regarding jAlbum:

Is this a case of the blind leading the blind?

Who says jAlbum is not free (for personal non-commercial use)?
I have downloaded and installed their latest Version 11.4.1
jAlbum remains FREE for non-commercial use.

Among us GOTD forum members, how many use jAlbum for commercial use?
Very few, right?

If you use it for commercial purpose, it is only right that you pay jAlbum something, because you are making money with their software.

The Swedish software developer David Ekholm is so kind that he included a link for you to download past versions of jAlbum (that was labelled freeware) if for any reason you need to use those.

I believe your PC is infected with some kind of malware that redirects your connection. You'd do better if you scan and clean your PC immediately before you do any other online activity. but first, pls make sure that all your security softwares are updated and active.

System: HP Pavilion, Windows 8, quad-core processor, AMD. This program installed and registered with absolutely no requests for personal information, emails, and all that nonsense. Just installed and ran. :)

To test it, I fed in 190 images of my students from a school function. Most were around 3.5-4 mb in size. The computer was already very busy processing disk work in the background, and still the program processed all the photos in 4 minutes, created the thumbnails in less than 1 minute, and about 30 seconds later has the HTML pages done and ready to see.

I'm pretty impressed. I really like this program for its sheer simplicity of use and the dozens of options it has availabe. Thanks to EIS and all involved in offering it at GAOTD.

//(33)Dear Joe,

Many thanks for your suggestion. This clearly brings out I am the sole sufferer. I will scan it through my AVG Business Edition 2013 and hope for something. Otherwise only option is to restore from a safe earlier time implying loss of all gotd gifts. The only silver lining they are quite few. Once again I appreciate your taking the trouble to answer my query.

#23 D P Rangan - I agree with "Joe Bloggs is back finally" You should download Malwarebytes anti-malware ASAP. You may have to run it from safe mode (hit F8 when starting boot up) to get rid of the virus you almost certainly have.

Kinda rough on Bobby #12. I have used Irfanview for many years to produce slide shows, burn to disk, and have the user (who knows nothing about computers) execute and run the slide show at a meeting. Everything is produced onto the CD including that part of IV that makes it all work. No need for IV on the destination PC.

All at the touch of a key which tells IV to produce it.

That's why Bobby said IV rules.

Let the thumbs down occur. IDGAD

Almost all Image Galleries products work along the same approach as this offering, where it creates the gallery with images on your hard drive and then you upload everything (including the html) to the hosting server.

This is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a product that creates thumbnail image gallery of images I already have on the hosting server and that this gallery will dynamically add new images (and thumbnails) as I upload more images directly to my hosting server. So far, I cannot find one that does it and if anyone of you knows a free php script or other, please share with me here.

Your actions should have registered the program when you ran activate, the only time I've seen something similar happen was when Windows refused to allow information to be written to the registry.
The best thing you can do is to search in Google or similar for this problem they often produce solutions from others who experienced the problem..

#22, Jerry: if you haven't tried the following, then this might help:

Run 'setup' and when it gets to the end, it will ask if you want to launch the program -- there is a check in the box. Uncheck the box, and then click on 'Finish.'

Then, run 'activate.' After you've run each, start the program, and you should be good to go.

If you try to run the program right after 'setup,' and it hasn't been 'activated' yet, you will get the trial version.

Downloaded & installed. Looks very nice, but the work page is way too small to work with. I keep wanting to expand the view, which is very annoying, because I can't,working on a quarter of my screen with Photos is hopeless. Anyone one else got similar problems to the viewer being tiny, thanks anyway GOTD.

Creates HTML4 transitional (LOL) but is easy to convert to HTML5 now that this program easily sets up the thumbnails and slideshow foundation. Nice templates and blank customizable one too.

I rarely comment on the offers here at GAOTD, but I'm impressed with this cool little program and wanted to share what I like about it.

First, even if you've never used this sort of software, the brief, but detailed, tutorial is extremely helpful and very easy to follow, as it uses live animation of the actual program windows to teach you the basics. Tutorials for more advanced processes are available too.

Next, the amount of instructive documentation included with the software is impressive and equally easy to access.

The documentation included amounts to a very detailed user's manual, including instructions on features like; how to import and resize images, how to add special effects to images (yes, though not sophisticated, the software does offer minor special effects), the ability to add custom text and logos to images, how to add border and shadow effects, how to add Lightbox effects, how to add a slideshow, batch image processing, how to publish your gallery to the web, and how to send the gallery in e-mails.

Finally, all these features are easy to find. The control panel for the program has a very functional platform, creating one of the better software interface designs I've seen recently.

I'm not sure how this would work for advanced, or professional users, but there is little doubt in my mind that this is beyond ideal for rookies or amateurs in general. I run a custom hardwood/tile flooring company and I constantly add new images from recent jobs. This little dynamo is great to have in my arsenal, as I feel like it will help produce a more professional appearance of my online galleries.

Thank you "Give Away of the Day"!!

I must be doing something wrong. The last two days, I've installed the program, but they won't activate. I'm getting the "trial version" popup today.
I've tried activating it with the program open and the program closed, but same result.
Can someone please tell me how to get it to activate properly? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.
Thank you so much!

This is a very easy to use slide show generator. Some of the templates are not to my liking. However, there are several that I found to be very nice looking. There are a few that I believe a photographer would find useful for a gallery presentation on a website.

There is a quick tutorial that will show you how to create your slide show. It is quite well done. I have not played with the files to see how they upload yet. However, this process is usually pretty straight forward. It has an ftp client that will upload your show to your website.

I have used a lot of slide show software. This works well, and is quick and easy especially for a beginner.

I've used JAlbum for this purpose for many years, and this program looks very similar. As I looked through the settings screens for ExTG I almost thought I was looking at JAlbum. JAlbum started out completely free, but they've gone commercial: they now charge money for some templates, and they have a store where authors can sell templates. However that does mean that there's a wider variety of modern templates than appear to be available in ExTG. However ExTG is free for today, it does the job, and all of the templates are pure HTML (not always true with JAlbum, which has some templates using Javascript).

This software made me nostalgic. It took me 15 years back in time. it looks like the developer created this software decades ago I never did any updates on it, or never heard of HTML5.

The templates are so outdated I would be too embarrassed to use them as a professional photographer and webmaster.

I would not recommend this software but even if it was sold for a nickel.
let's wait and see what Giovanni's 0.000002 cents bring to us today.

For some reason I can not get my note in "share your ideas" above. So through the comments then.

The program is pretty straigthforward and easy to understand. It would be good if it would have been possible to select or filter on filetype in the image selection. I had to remove all the ARW versions before I got the page I wanted.

What is also nice is that you get access to the HTML and CSS code in the program so you can redesign the page for yourself.

Today's giveaway does its dirty job pretty well, namely generate photo thumbnails and then publish online web photo albums using built-in templates with style.
So it looks like a very good tool for people like me who know almost nothing about HTML language.

But 50 bucks?? Come on... the developer is not probably aware that there are plenty of FREEWARE ALTERNATIVES out there doing the same things and even more for FREE!!!

One of them is definitely a FREE tool called "JetPhoto Studio", which can import your photos from a digital camera and then automatically organize them in albums, calendars and maps by EXIF metadata, notes, keywords, time and geodata.
Once you have organized them with meaningful folders, this software is even able to create slideshows, wallpapers and screensavers, as well as create & publish flash and web galleries on the NET (Flickr) literally with a couple of mouse clicks.
The last version of this amazing FREE program enables users to import and manage not only their photos but also their VIDEOS, raw, panorama and stereo files captured with their digital camera!
This means that this software can also be used as a VIDEO CLIPS PLAYLIST ORGANIZER and even as a MOVIE EDITOR, since it's able to trim/merge any video clips of yours and reorder them in the playlist according to your needs.
Once you have produced your FINAL MOVIE, you may want to publish it on the NET where it can be played in both Flash-enabled web browsers and iPad/iPhone mobiles, as well as in Flash, Lightbox, CoverFlow and Google Map web galleries.
And guess what? You don't need any video encoding and page integrating knowledge to do that, since each task is automatically performed by the program itself with no questions asked.

In addition to it, this FREE cool app allows you to:

- adjust an image's brightness and color balance
- apply filters (black and white, sepia) and automatically correct exposure to any pics and video clips of yours
- send photos to mobile phones
- add watermarks, batch rename files, copy file names to photo notes and auto rotate your photos with EXIF information
- merge GPS metadata into JPEG or RAW files and geotag your photos by automatically organizing them by a built-in digital map, designed to show you any locations where your pics were taken, by directly linking your photos to Google Earth and Google Maps.

The "About" screen within the application says "All updates are free." The readme.txt states otherwise.

Can confirmation be provided as to which is correct?

There is a reminder to check for updates setting but I don't know whether it just pops up a reminder or whether it actually checks automatically. I assume it does the former. It would be nice to have an option to turn off reminders/updates altogether.

Ran the setup but didn't let it finish, then ran the activate program and then I allowed the setup to finish, this way when the program is open it is registered.

For the last three weeks I've been tracking a building project and needed something that will make a decent presentation of it, and thankfully today's offering appeared.
As a quick test I pointed it at a folder that contained about 15 photographs, all taken with the same camera, it loaded all the files into the program window including a few non-image files which I had to remove.
I then moved onto the Galley of templates, these can be customised or you can create your own by the look of it.
It does appear to allow user the ability to customise many aspects of the program.
Then onto the generate which it did without a hitch producing a very pleasing and functioning web page.

I can thoroughly recommend this program as it is well thought out and well designed, plus it has a good video tutorial, enjoy.

I looked at their online tutorial and documentation and the only publication method they describe is via built in FTP.

Does this generate local HTML files that you can look at, modify then upload yourself? It seems like this is designed to create self contained slideshows rather than something you can integrate into a website.

The installation and registration on Win64 was without any problems.
The software opened quickly and everything was very intuitive. I managed to create the photo gallery in 5 minutes (about 50 pictures).

You can choose among 20+ different galleries. I was rather surprised by the clumsy handles of the first one I chose but the second was exactly what I wanted.

I think I can recommend this piece of software to those who want to publish their photos on web with a style.

You can see my creation at http://www.aj3000.org/OtherLove_gallery/otherlove.html

and you can compare it with the same story created in iSpring convertor and Photostage.
