Some people keep wondering why people need to Join MP3 files. Maybe you can expand your mind a little and get creative, then you'll figure out the answer.

Otherwise, there are many creative things one might want to do:

1. A person might want to join a CHIME.mp3 with a SONG.mp3 then use tomorrow's software to make it into a cell phone ringtone. Then the phone will ring 1st, then play the song.

2. A person might have a website that publishes PODCASTS. NEWS. EVENTS. or other information. They might have an Interview with a person recorded as 1 mp3, but they want to put their site info and Introduction at the beginning. So they take their 'station ID' and pre=pend it to the beginning of the interview.

3. The same podcaster might want to put their conclusion info with $35/year subscription info how to join and copyright and site info narration onto the END of the podcast. This might be standard for every show, and already prepared. This software could do it.

4. A person may have a business phone system with music on hold. But they want to intersperse it with "Hi thanks for waiting, someone will be with you in a minute..." then back to the music. One could use this software to join this message in-between a bunch of songs for the phone system's music on hold system.

5. A musician might want to put their songs on the web for publicity or download to promote their band. They could record a standard message like "Thanks for downloading the new song by XXXXX band! Please buy our CD, you can get it at XXXX.com for $xx.xx We appreciate it!" and then join it onto either the beginning or end of the promo songs they put up on their site.

6. A webmaster might be doing an animation in FLASH for a customer's website. They want to have the logo of the company fly in with a big explosion, then a swoosh noise, and then a voice introducing the company and talking about its products. This software could join the 2 sound effects + the sales pitch and then it could be added into the FLASH animation and delivered to the customer for a fee of $225.00.

Remember, people, (*cough*thewhiners*cough*), there are people in the world that are adults, and in business, not all just little kids wondering why you would need to join Britney with Feminem for their ipods. If you have no clue why anyone would want to join sound files together, wait a few years and then you will know. And what software one uses, is up to each person's choice. But at least THIS GiveAwayOftheDay.com website allows you to try them out, and make one's own decision. For Free. Otherwise you'd always have in the back of ones mind... hmm. I wonder if that program is better or not than the one I'm using... hmm. Without GiveAwayOftheDay, one might not ever know about the FULL version. So thank them for the service.

Dang, it’s not a DVD Ripping Software! But thanks anyway. It looks like a good software. Will give it a spin. I sure would like to see Magic DVD Ripper on here sometime! It’s the best DVD Ripping Software there is. But any DVD Ripping Software would do! Thanks for all the great Giveaways! Keep up the good work!

Comment by borja — February 7th, 2007 at 3:01 am

I think you asked about this several times, so I will give you the answer. Instead of begging for that MAGIC DVD ripper software, why don't you just go try this: "DVDSHRINK" from DVDSHRINK.ORG

http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html

That may help you.

Thanks GOTD, I've been enjoying many of the free programs from both sites for the last couple of weeks, and feel upset with myself when I miss day for whatever reason. I'm gad there is usually enough description of what the program does to decide if I have a use for it. I downloaded today's program, because I do have a few uses for it, but I'm hoping we'll get to download Direct WAV MP3 Splitter someday. I have many more uses for something like that. Thanks again GOTD, keep up the great work!

#69: I agree with you.
Slowing PC down always caused by fragmentation, invalid reg key ( caused by removed softwares, driver etc. ), junk files, and your using method also causes it. ( Manny app start up with windows, many app running in system tray, hidden installation, etc. )

Today's giveaway is only a small software, few files ( may not cause fragmentation ), reg key ( 1 key, 3 string 13 binary value ), and it not start up with win so installing or removing it wont make ur pc slow down. Anyway, thnx 4 ur recommences, but it seems be no use here.

For anyone that says they only got the trial version... Did you activate the product? I didn't do that at first and it said it was the trial version so I realized I didn't activate it. I did that and then ran set-up again and it works now.

The program works. Thanks.

To borja (nr 62): Fragmentation happens not so much from installing/removing the programs, but from using them and using the computer in general. Luckily, defragging is easy. What's really slowing the computer down is registry bloat and pollution, partly caused by installing lots of programs and by the sad facts that many programs leave a lot of garbage there when being uninstalled.

I also disagree with the practice of criticizing GOTD in regard to failings in the program or the normal retail price and value or lack thereof.

People - please realise GOTD doesn't have any control over what the program does or does not do. GOTD does not set the pricing levels for the software. The only people who have any control over the functionality, quality or price it is the developers and the company who sell the software.

TO ALL THE IGNORANT AND RUDE - questioning the value of something you have received for free ...
You are like a person who has been given a horse as a gift (a gift-horse) and you are looking into the horse's mouth to see if it is in good health. Example: "Here is your drink." Reply: "Oh, I hate this kind." Answer: "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

You are looking a gift horse in the mouth when you receive a gift and then you question the value of that gift. Example: "This shirt you gave me is not my favorite brand." Reply: "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! That was the best they had."

When you buy your own beers you can decide what brand you want.

Thanks I like this, I like to pull mp3's from lots of places and hate the cut off. This helps put that silence in and does not degrade the quality. Also I love the fact that I can put my audio books together, its very frustrating to not have them as one package. It does increase the size some but not to much that its not worth it.

Again Thanks

Really, people... be glad that the program is here, regardless of this "Audacity" program.

Audacity takes up more resources in the system, if I'm correct, and even though it's free, it still takes more...

And to the people that said it is useless, there are actually people that do this kind of stuff for a living; my cousin is a cheerleader, and this is how they make all those weird songs that are actually like 60 songs put together, except it costs them about 140$.

Ok people, this doesn't have anything to do with todays giveaway, but I just wanted to remind those of you who often install a software and then uninstall it for whatever reason you may have, that when you do this, you will end up with a bunch of fragmented files in your pc which will eventually start to slow it down.

Now those of you who are computer freaks ,(aka. Geeks) like me will know exactly what I am talking about and already know what to do about it. But then there are those people who are either, 1. New to computers and don't know much about them, or 2. Aren't new to computers, but never really bothered to learn about all these different issues concerning the pc etc., etc.

Now, if you were part of those last two groups I mentioned above, then I would like to ask you a question. Namely, have you noticed your computer starting to really slow down in its performance? If so this may be what's going on with your pc. Now there are many different reasons why your pc might be performing very slowly, and this, fragmenting of files, is one of the most common ones. You may be asking at this point, "Ok, so what do I do about it????" Well to answer that question, I will redirect you to PC Worlds Tips and Tricks Article which I found VERY helpful regarding this issue. Just copy and paste this address into your address bar and read the article entitled, "The Need for Speed."
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,119064-page,1-c,optimization/article.html

It will mention defragmenting, (I know, sounds scary but it's not all that hard to do) which is what you must do to fix this whole problem I have been addressing. For a detailed explanation of how to defragment, copy this address and past it in your address bar and read the article, "Why Defrag." It also explains what fragmentation is and what causes it. Very helpful stuff.

http://www.geekgirls.com/windows_defrag.htm

No I am not a girl but those girls who wrote that, how-to, sure knew what they were talking about!

Hope this proves helpful to someone out there!

adios samigos,
Borja

I didn't download it, as I have no need for merging MP3s, but I've just something to say to all people who say Audacity isn't as good as this because it transcodes the MP3:

1. I dare you to ABX-test the resulting MP3 files of both Audacity and this tool.
2. Should you succeed this test, why the hell are you using a *lossy* file format when clearly your ears are way too good. You should be using FLAC or something.

Bleh...even if Audacity does lessen the quality this still isn't worth it. And yes...it's free so...why am I even bothering? I just don't see the need for it. There has been cases where I have needed to do things like this and I have done so using Audacity and I was satisfied with that outcome so...no need for this.

Good Software, but I prefer freeware "mp3-direct-cut".
http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html
Not only does it offer all editing (cut, copy, paste/join change the volume) but it also preserves the original quality - NO re-encoding
It also has built in recorder to create mp3 direct from audio input. Using Cue sheets, pause detection or Auto cue you can easily divide long files. The executable is small and can run without installation. It is easy to use (not too fancy), good for people do not need extensive functions but only want quick simple mp3 jobs.

If you want to cut mp3's fast without re-encoding use "MP3DirectCut". I really have no need to join mp3's, but I will take it just in case. You always seem to find a use for something the day after you get rid of it.

I thought I would put my 2cents worth in. I love this site, the games are great for the kids to play. I use them as a treat for them when thier homework is finished or toys picked up. My 7 year old can't wait to get home from school to see what game I have downloaded, or screen savers. They all love those. The other download of the day I am going to download this one , just in case the teenagers can use it.
Besides I can always delete it if no one can use it. So thank you very much GOTD .

Useful app today. Those concerned about uninstall & reinstallation at a later date might consider the following freeware alternatives. First one is excellent and supports much more than just MP3.

Media Join 1, supports merging of MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and WMV.
http://www.download.com/MediaJoin/3000-2169_4-10364435.html?tag=lst-0-4

Merge MP3, single executable, no installation required: http://www.download.com/Merge-MP3/3000-2169_4-10455400.html?tag=lst-0-1

#36,#40: Recheck your PC, are they not alow entering info to reg? If you want help in installing or activing app posted on GOTD, plz contact via mail, I will help you all I can.
#42: I think that he may be angry of too many complaining comments.
#41 and all who have problems with these giveaway: Plz think it in another way, if you want to help the Publisher improve it, you should leave comment about the problems you meet accurately, certainly after having check and be sure the problems caused by the app, not by compatibility with other things running on your pc such as some codec, virus scanner ...etc, no one can create app with no error, if you help them, they may fix the problems and give better services. So dont be angry of these error and leave the comment as you did. It only make us feel funny.

This app may be cool to anyone who need non-stop audio cd. The speed is acceptable, may some seconds slower with the freeware, but when you use it with many files, you will see the differences. Thnx GOTD team.

Ok people here is a eval from someone that actually downloaded-installed and tried this program.

I have a store bought cd called Styx: Paradise Theater. When the first song comes on they have a small "intro" that every cd ripper under the sun thinks is a another song, even though it is the lead-in to the first song and Dennis DeYoung's voice is heard constantly through the intro. What I wanted to do was join these two back together so they sound like what was on the cd. I'm thinking that this just might do it by the info about it.

I am sad to say that not only does this NOT do as it is promoted as doing...it in fact makes it worse. You either end up with the end of one and the beginning of another mp3 all jumbled together so the song is ruined...or you end up with a small nano second of silence which makes it sound like the cd is skipping. Either way is unacceptable for audiophiles or people who like their MP3's to sound like the cd's they came from. I have since uninstalled this and deleted it from my machine. Sorry GOTD, I give this a rating of -200 and it is well below any of the other downloads you have offered. So much in fact that a cost of $.10 for this crappy program would be way too much.

I am delighted with this. It's quick and easy and very intuitive. I would use this program for PowerPoint presentations I create for various meetings at my institution.

For anyone else who creates PowerPoints--for family and friends, special occasions, other events--if you like to run a sound file in the background, you know that sometimes the presentation runs longer than the song. With this ap, you can quickly and easily create a sound file that "fits" your presentation. Hope that's informative for #31. As to what else I would do with this ap, I'm not sure. Maybe other people could mention some practical uses.

As I was reading the description at the top of the page I was thinking, "why would I want this?" Then it mentioned audio books and I was sold. Merging all the chapters into one before I load them to my iPod will make it easier to listen to a book in the car, and probably safer as well. So I'm sure I'll use this one.

Would I pay for this? No. But I can't begrudge the makers of the software for trying to make a living. I'm new to this site and I can't believe the amount of complaining I see here. I agree with #32 that it must be kids doing all the bitching.

You can do this with Audacity--but you'll wind up with a lower-quality, transcoded .mp3. Most digital audio workstations (like Audacity, Goldwave, Audition, etc) convert .mp3's to an uncompressed format for editing. Converting the files back into .mp3's adds a second 'lossy' compression--even if you compress the file at a higher bitrate. This happens whenever you try editing compressed files--unless you can find a sound editor that can edit comressed files without de-compressing them, first. That's where today's download comes in. It allows you to perform some basic editing tasks on .mp3's without any loss of audio quality. You may not need to use it, often, but if you do ever need to join multiple .mp3's, it's nice to have the option of preserving as much audio quality as you can.

For a good .mp3 splitter, try mp3DirectCut (freeware).

I hate to take up this space with this, but I cant stand it any longer.
All the negative comments on all of GOTD's offerings seem to have one thing in common, that being that freeware exists that does the same thing as well or better.
Yes it is almost always true, today freeware that is quite good can be found to replace virtually all pay-ware and I for one enjoy reading about the better freeware and peoples opinion of it. But lets remember what GOTD is here for. It is simply another software site, trying to make some money, but with a twist, that being that along with freeware, they also offer payware FREE for a limited time period. GOTD doesn't say its necessarily good or better than other things, just that they make some deals with companies to offer selected wares for free during a promotional period.
Having said that, can we please stop the whining & complaining, done by those with "entitlement" syndrome. If you dont like the offering, state why and offer alternatives if you want, but stop the unnecessary, unuseful, childish B.S.
Constructive info like that from bladedthoth is great, as are the freeware alternative suggestions and the reasons for them. So also is constructive criticism good since it will serve notice on the software company(s) as to what they need to do to improve their product(s)
Just try to keep it constructive, adult commentary. The "are you kidding" and "not worth a penny" etc. comments serve no purpose other than to you own need to whine, and try and drag others into the same sad slop that is your life.

Hmmmm I think I just realized the problem, we cant keep it "adult" and its probably the spoiled (entitlement generation) kiddies that do the most complaining. Ah I've seen the future and it IS frightening.

Thanks GOTD

Not trying to be negative but I also wonder why you would want to merge multiple MP3s into a single file?

Hello all again! My 15MR is up again today! Here it is!

Thanks all for visiting my reviews!

P.S. For those who ask the origin of my name, it is a very long story starting in 1996 with a name that stuck since then quite nicely. "Thoth" part is the Egyptian god (AKA "Thot") and was gotten during my days of table-top RPG (Ha ha! He did that? Yeah yeah. :) The "Bladed" part came from a life-changing event in my life. "JadedThoth" or "BitterThoth" was bizarre-sounding, so BladedThoth came to be, and stuck. The events from that time are behind me, with only the name stuck. Hope this shines a quick light on the subject.
