@wyndham wales, #30: Thank you for pointing out the history of CDRWin. This program was a pioneer in copying CDs, and a format invented by them still exists today: BIN/CUE. When you want a 100% accurate reproduction of an audio CD, including the gap between songs where there is no data, the BIN/CUE format is awesome.

#46 and others with target folder problems:
This setup interface has hidden the possibility to change the install path, but it is available when you click the "options" button wher you are able to create another folder by the Browse button.
@ Tony S. - yes you can copy such a CD or their own image file format. Authoring is not available.

Got same message trying to install as admin under Vista Home Premium 32bit. Tried install under xp compatibility option but no go. Produced a message that a higher version of windows was required. Not a good advert for their product as it is supposed to be compatible with Vista!

Regretfully, gave up.

When I click on the "Buy Now" button after installing, I receive the same message in multiple languages to the effect "...internet connection is broken..." I'm wondering if the reason for this is that I did NOT install the "driver monitor" software that was offered in a browser window upon completion of the installation process for CDRWIN10.

Based on the number of comments from people indicating they're having trouble with their installation of this giveaway, I'm not going to go to great lengths to try to get the registration process to work. I already have CDRWIN9 installed from a previous giveaway and it works just fine for my purposes, so I'll probably just stick with that.

One additional gripe: I really don't appreciate additional software that I did NOT request being pushed at me, trying to make me think that it's a part of the installation process. This same "driver software" was offered to me once before (I believe in another giveaway), and it took many hours of detective work to UNDO THE DAMAGE IT DID TO MY SYSTEM!

Pity - Englemann Media usually produces good programs. I don't know why they appear to be drawn to "the dark side" in their marketing - it never ends well for those who do!

All I can say to everyone reading is, "Caveat emptor!" (Buyer beware!)

Downloaded and installed fine. Registered without a hitch.

Tried to burn a cd to test the "cd-text" feature to see if it works and apparently, it can't handle .flac audio files.

Am I wrong?

Installed program, popup menu immediately appeared. Filled in name and e-mail address. Clicked OK button. I went to my email and I received their email immediately. I clicked on the verification link and a serial code immediately appeared. That code is also sent to your email box in case you forget it. Copy and pasted the whole serial code in the first box only (the rest auto-filled). CDRWIN 10 is now registered.

Started the program and you get a resizeable box. The black/red interface is well laid out and not as gaunt as some have mentioned here. There are 6 features to click on. Copy Disk, Data, Audio, Settings, Tools, Video. Hardly any learning curve at all with any choice you pick here. I burned some video files with no issues. I also ripped some audio from a CD I picked out of my collection. That went well with no issues. Seeing this program does a lot more, I did not test all of the other features. My overall thoughts are "This is a keeper" Not a bad program at all but the file of software like this is quite saturated especially with free alternatives already mentioned in posts above mine such as "Giovanni Mr Free" so eloquently points out.

Thanks to GOTD and CDRWIN for this offer. Usually there are not many give aways that I like but this one was one of them.

As anyone can see - I have a 'hyphen' in my email & had no problems with rec a serial number. Also, Win8.1 64bit no prob with install - used this program years ago - glad they still weathered the software storm. Really did NOT like the fact that you had to either 'create' the sub-dir that you wanted to install in (I hate installing to root drive, in case something happens). I have a drive where I install all GOTD & any other software I want to try - the programs still work & my boot drive is not bloated. But, I trust this company & I did trust the software - so - I let it install to boot drive - seems like a "last generation" type install problem to me. Hyphens work, so either they fixed the problem or there is something else the matter. Thank you very much for today's offering & after some more rigorous testing I'll try to offer something someone else has not. Bye for now B|

I run Vista (32 bit) but get the message "This program is blocked due to compatibility issues.
This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with or has been superseded by this version of Windows. For more information view the Microsoft web site."
This despite installing as administrator.
If I ignore the notice it seems to install OK (haven't used it yet though). What's going on?

Hi,
Would anyone be able to help me with this problem:
I keep getting the following message "Currently no service available or internet connection is broken." It isn't an internet connection on my end (I'm posting this) and it sounds like people are finding that the service is available. I am clicking "Buy Now" and I get that message. I'd be grateful if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks!

It looks to be a good keeper, but what would be a good reason to keep this one over others that do the same?

Protected disk copy programs are many and usually needed because they use different methods to enable us to make a backup copy.

Though, is not a Burner program just a Burner program?

@ #5 Karl: you wrote "The question is: who needs a new burning software today? The market is filled." Just to let you know that CDRwin is as old as the Web. For many years it was the most coveted burning software on the internet -- especially for those who wanted more of their burning software.

While I didn't encounter any problems installing the program it unfortunately will not detect my external burning device. Since Windows 8.1 detects the external drive I'm not sure why this is the case. Since I never use the internal drive in my laptop except when I'm on the road this software is effectively limited for my needs. When I get a chance later today I will try rebooting to see if that resolves the issue. If anyone has any other suggestions I would be much appreciative because this offering looks very interesting.

I used this years ago to burn some of the more difficult image formats and am pleased to see that they're still around.

Installed quickly, no spyware or crapware of any kind installed with it, just a browser window opening to suggest driver software.

I filled out the registration form and got my serial instantly.

Runs nicely on Windows 7 x64, zero issues or complaints. A nice giveaway, thank you :)

Installed OK and registered without any real problems. However, I probably won't be using the program as I can't read the menus. With regard to Chris Locke's comment on the nasties you get with ImgBurn, I would like to suggest that he install ImgBurn from http://www.ninite.com.

Programs installed from this web-site are devoid of malware (including tab bars and other sponsored programs) and adware.

Can someone please translate this message for me as I do not speak or read German. I tried to send for the serial number and this is what I get:

Heads Up about registration [email address].

If you do not get your serial number email it MAY be because you have a “–“ (hyphen) in your email address. I tried twice to register and although my information was accepted in the pop-up window, I never got the email -even after several minutes.

I tried again with another email address that contains a “.” (period) and immediately received the email serial number link.
Hope this helps a few frustrated people.

Also, I had considerable difficulty with installing it to a location other than the one that automatically pops up.

Giovanni- You recommend imgburn, but worth pointing out that the installation program is NASTY in that it tries its hardest to get you to install crappy browser search bars, voucher code popup programs and other browser redirect programs. The program may be good (and its lightweight) but for the reasons stated above, I'd avoid.

Excellent app today to perform complex jobs like CD/DVD creation, copying and ripping. Superb speed burning and excellent output quality (supports Disc at Once for standard-compliant creation of audio-CDs).

Can burn ISO, BIN, XMD and CUE files with BurnProof technology to prevent write failure, giving you also the ability to author Blu-Ray disks as well as convert your Audio files to several different formats.

The only CONS is that it CANNOT copy an audio-CD/DVD-video protected DRM-copy protection!

Overall it's a KEEPER!

Used to use imgburn a lot (lightweight program to burn CDs and DVDs) but the interface is a bit muddly now, and creating audio CDs certainly isn't intuitive. At just 2.6 MB, the program certainly isn't bloatware, like NERO (84 MB install file), but you have to be VERY careful during installation, as it now wants to install crapware (and lots of it!)

CDRWin is an old program, back in the days when NERO was the 'top dog' but expensive.

It has a simple interface, but the tools necessary to complete the task. Want to record an audio CD? Simple drag and drop audio files, or you have the option to rip / copy an existing CD.

The most popular task these days is burning ISO files, and this is easily done through the 'Copy Disc' menu. Dragging and dropping would be easier, but simply select the ISO file through a common file dialog*, and click 'Start'.
CDRWin also lets you create ISO files, which is a nice bonus.

(*The dialog is an old Win XP style one, with 'Desktop', 'Libraries' 'Computer', down the left hand side, and cannot be resized... yuk)

Overall, the program is lightweight and has a nice 'sensible' interface. Some may say quite old-fashioned in this day of Metro style block interfaces and whizzy icons, but if you have a task to do, you know which icon to click - you don't have to hover over weird looking hieroglyphics, hoping for help text to pop up.

Installation was quick and easy (no crapware!) with a simple registration (click the link, enter your details, wait for an email, click the link in the email, then view the registration key online...) but means you can re-install the program later if need be. At just 17 MB, the setup is moderately light.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.2 Pro 64 bit system. Double checked email for key. The license is not bound with the installer, but on their homepage and can be altered any time. Not that I care very much - but a license has to be bound with the installer and fixed for future questions. The "supereasy driver updater" is advertised immediately after installation.

A German company with all legal information: address, name, phone, taxnumber and a Google chart, too.

A CD, DVD, BluRay burning tool - with limitations :
Please consider: CDRWIN 10 is not able to copy audio-CDs, DVD-videos and single audio files with effective DRM-copy protection. and
An MP3-Codec cannot be delivered due to licence reasons and has to be already installed on your system.. A legally correct program...

An interface like hell. LOL, a resizable window in red with burning flames and where is the devil?

Here you select your copy mode, the preferences and burn your disk. The question is: who needs a new burning software today? The market is filled.

A working burning software with a long history. A clean and easy to understand interface, really! - a little bit too stylish for me, but this is simply a matter of taste.

I you don't have already a burning program, why not install this? I doubt, this would be the first burning software on your computer.

A reliable producer, a "ripe" software. I have no need for an additional burning software. Uninstalled via reboot.

The Good
The interface is cool. simple and very easy to use.
Supports various buffer underrun protections.
very easy to rip audio CD
erase disc might be very useful

The Bad
The video-dvd copy is not as good as other DVD copy programs. And a help menu is lack.

For users need DVD Copy, i recommend free program: HandBrake @ http://handbrake.fr/ and commercial program: BlazeVideo DVD Copy
