This is a fantastic program, and does almost everything , we are indeed most privileged to get this and it even records up to 5 radio programmes simultaneously, and categorises automatically by folder the artist and track, I am only just scratching the surface and what I have found so far is amazing. I have iTunes, full pro version of Media Monkey and aits far better than all put together the display screen is the most professional I have seen.
Top marks all round, my operating system is windows 8 and it works very well, on and off line.

Only 48% thumbs up? B.S. What a bunch of lazy, entitled brats! As previously posted, copy the license from the setup.cfg file to register and get rid of the buy it now... this is a nice program. Thanks much GAOTD and Audials. PS - There are only a few persons opinions on this site worth reading (e.g., Giovanni).

So this guy is playing, jerome isma ae, 18 minutes so far, & I'm liking it.
And want to copy his name/song to check him out, but can't?
Am I missing something?

But I can post the station name with & a comment - on Facebook.
Like WOW!

I mean, get real.

A beast.
And then its limited at that.

That said, it works & isn't bad.

Dark themes generally don't play well with me, but while most of the themes this has are dark, they work well.
UI is a little busy but not bad.
Configurable to a point.

Good selection of /playable/ stations.
Seems to connect to them quicker then other players.
In many cases you can see what is playing on other channels without actually loading the channel.

I'm not sure about recording?
At least it didn't seem to for me?
(Maybe something on my end?)
And WMA?
(I think I saw something about mp3 & m4a. m4a needing $$. Yet they bundle ffmpeg, so what's the deal?)
Not sure if conversion is required?
Or if saves in the clips native format (which would be the logical thing to do).

While I'm playing, jumping around, many times I've wanted to copy the artists name to look them up online.
An expected function, I would think, but I'm not seeing it? Maybe I just missed it?
Similarly a history of played stations/songs. Again so you can say, hey, that's new to me, & was nice! Let me find out more.
But from what I see, once the song's played, that info is gone?
(So what did I do, I went to the website of the station, like http://www.offshoremusicradio.com/lastplayed.php , but I shouldn't have to do that.)
Mouse-over descriptions on some of the buttons would be nice.

A beast in every way.
It left some 400 MB in some Temp directory.
A 40 SQLite DB file in /user/all/.
Some 300 MB in its install directory.
175 MB of that are "skins".
Includes mplayer, ffmpeg,
If you did not have .NET 4, it would download/install that (seemingly) [& that's a beast in itself).
Memory usage? I'm looking at 600 MB.

Screamer clocks in at about 5 MB disk & 20 MB memory.
RadioSure at about 8 MB disk & 45 MB memory.

For my purposes, I want to listen to music & in that respect any will do just fine.
Audials may have more features, in some respects, & limitations in other respect, but man, this is a beast!

And again, it isn't bad.

Audials One 11 can be 100% portable?
Sorry I don't think so.

(I think )there must first be a host computer. The serial key (or pre-activation code)must reside in a host computer; before the working files are copied on to a USB.
Otherwise it does not make sense, because this is NOT freeware.

It it was 100% portable, then one would expect that Audials would mention it on their website. They only said you can install working files onto a USB. Audials never and all the software editors who review software never ever claimed Audials is 100% portable.

If it was so, then you do not need to pay, ever - and can make 1 Million copies of this giveaway to pass on to friends.

Then the company will go bankrupt because there are no sales.

I have to agree with a lot of things other people were saying... This is a completely butchered, chopped version of the full program. Almost all of the good features were removed. In my humble opinion it doesn't belong here because it's not a full version. If I wanted to listen to streams there are plenty of far better choices that don't nag me like this does.

Excellent app! I like tango music and I didn't need to go to an Argentinean radio station but just punch in tango and I got to choose from Canadian, German, Belgian and 20 more countries/radio stations that broadcast tango. It's like discovering a new world out there! Thank you Audials and GOATD!

#36: It is NOT a full installation file as when opened (and closed) the program prompts for an upgrade and in the "Options" menu it is shown as "AudialsOne Demo".

A DEMO is not a full program and I do not expect to be prompted to upgrade in a full program (even an SE edition)!

So where is the product key to turn this from a demo into a full program?

Not on MY System it's not! it keeps asking me to buy or register it! zwhen

I was trying out the "wishes" function
I bit continue after the registration request. it ignored my input and returned me to the previous screen seems unusable to me
I saw no key in the readme

I WAS interested but it's getting to be too much bother! Anyone here from audials to answer questions?

Audials is one of the better programs in its field, but it has a steep learning curve and I think it's overpriced. I used Audials One-9 from an earlier offering here, it just quit functioning after a couple of months and, since no tech help, I had no recourse but remove it. Audials One-10 was offered not long after and I've been using it since; it's prone to corrupt its data files, which must then be deleted, so I lose all stations, preferences, and options. Many functions and options are not intuitive, you can easily end up recording a station instead of a song ...and Audials will happily fill your HD.

In spite of all that, I like this program, and have installed and removed several alternatives while continuing to use Audials.

Went to uninstall and it takes a long time.
Decicde to not use it where there are other software which are more simble and does a better job.

If it is activated automatically, why is there a 'buy now' at the bottom of the screen? Every time I try to go to a screen, I get a pop-up wanting me to buy 11 at $39.95. When I put in an artist (I put in 'Musical' and got Classical), it says it will scan when activated.
What did I miss?
Thanks!

This SE version has not got a lot the best features of the full version, the streaming section: you can't record video's , streaming video's or streaming music. You can see the differences in the screen dumps of the full version at the link to audials above. Audials 9 was a former GOTD, and that GOTD version performed recording streaming media perfectly. So, this GOTD can't be compared with the full product!

A minor issue, as part of the install process it tries to execute an exe file from my temp directory (C:\Users\johnl\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0) which I have a group policy to prevent (helps keep nasties at bay), so it fails to install... does nicely say it was activated okay though...

#12: "Most of the time I use Audacity to record sound files"

Good point... Recording audio isn't hard at all -- software just writes what comes out of the sound card or audio chipset to disk. There's usually not a lot of processing involved, so the quality's the same whether you use a high dollar app or the Sound Recorder 1st bundled with I think Windows 3.1. Those higher dollar apps let you do more, but the actual recording of audio to disk is done by hardware. And that hardware is what determines the quality, most often as in the relative absence of noise.

One thing to watch out for if you use a regular recording app, rather than something designed to split up the recording into separate files, is Windows max file size for .wav files -- .w64 works well when you go over 2GB. Why record .wav? It's lossless & fully editable. Another advantage is that you can record in or at the same specs your hardware uses internally, often 16 bit at 48. Later you can use something like Audacity to downsample to 44 for example with dithering, for a bit more quality before encoding to something like mp3. You can also convert the same audio files to several formats &/or quality levels, e.g. one for your PC/laptop, & smaller, lower quality file for your handheld. Or you can go directly to something like mp3 of course, which is less fuss.

Only from Mike is there a mention of Radiosure!, the clever and simple world-wide internet radio client. Johnanni from Italy, what happened??
With a few startup switches Radiosure! can do most of what you want, coupled with Task Scheduler, but if you want to add a little more sophistication run it through Eventghost. eventghost.org
Made my brain a lot smarter with all the radio-of-choice and self-made podcasts that I've been listening to. :)

#19 Edwin Harriden. But my question still stands, whatever "SE" means; What's the difference between Audials One 11 SE and the regular Audials One 11 (minus the SE)? As #5 FrancisBorne said, "On another giveaway site this SE’s former price is $19.90 and Audials One 11 with free updates (45% discount) is now $32.68 instead of $59.90. There must be fundamental differences between Audials One 11 SE and Audials One 11!" At GOTD we're being told that Audials One 11 SE is normally $79.90, so I'm even more puzzled. I was just trying to get the developer to explain the differences, doesn't seem to have worked though.

Audials One probably isn't too bad for anyone who wants to listen to Internet Radio rather than using something like Spotify [spotify.com] -- I think services like Spotify, Pandora, Google Play etc. may be where all the attention, & dollars are going. Personally I think it's [much] too complicated, both the software itself & trying to use it. To those who point out Audials One has a portable version -- not really. The portable version is less intrusive, has less impact on Windows, but it does have too much to be called portable. It will let you carry the software around on a USB stick & install it on most other systems OTOH. It's not IMHO something that's nice to do to a friend's PC or laptop, & you probably won't be able to install it on a public PC.

If you Google you won't see as many alternatives as when Audials One was offered on GOTD in years past -- as above services like Spotify have been capturing all the ears, though the more lightweight [& portable] Radiosure is still there. radiosure.com

http://time.com/30081/13-streaming-music-services-compared-by-price-quality-catalog-size-and-more/
http://radio.about.com/od/recordstreamingaudio/
http://radio.about.com/od/recordstreamingaudio/a/blrecordinghub.htm
http://lifehacker.com/5198917/radio-sure-streams-and-records-12000-radio-stations
.
Audials also talks about using their software for video. I'm not sure why you would? There are surely more than enough specialized apps in every form & flavor for YouTube, and the premium services require you to use either a web browser &/or their own player because of DRM. On top of that you often have to use a proxy when the site is in another country, e.g. BBC lovers in the US. The best way to record audio & especially video is not to record it at all, but save the stream to your hard drive as-is, so you don't have any quality loss, & don't need a powerful PC at all in the case of video. That's why so much on-line video has DRM.

There are specialized apps to save that stream [Google based on the site you want to record from], though sites do change their DRM so you might find it a bit of a cat & mouse situation. That means you'll have to watch for & install updates to whatever software you use, which can mean extra $. You can also record video playing on your PC, though there are caveats.

You want to use recording software that either comes with a very good, fast codec to encode the video before it's written to disk, or use software that lets you supply your own installed codec. Ashampoo's Snap for example will let you use your own, & it isn't too pricy, often being on sale for $8. If your hardware will manage screen capping 1080p, the VFW x264 codec can work well. What you have to watch out for with HD is when the player or Flash in your browser uses your graphics hardware to display the video, it may no longer be available for the screen capture end of things -- that increases the work a CPU needs to do to make up for it. Not all CPUs are capable.

I purchased this program earlier this year and it works great. I have it on my cpu, usb, and android phone. when I purchased this program I believe I paid either $59.00 or $49.00, but it was worth every cent. it records songs from almost anywhere and tag the song or video etc...
you can use it to places like Pandora, youtube and radio stations across the world including artist radio stations. I won't down load this because I already own it, however this is a must have program. I only wish it had came out before I purchased it, but I may have more choices. not to mention I can update, upgrade and use support.

Took me a while to figure out the UI in how to find, record and save a music video into MP3 format, but after a bit, I did.

Search resulted in a huge amount of hits for an artist (George Lewis) who today is rather obscure. Found and recorded an ancient TV show featuring him, his band and some interesting commentary.

The results speak for themselves. A major thumbs up here.

I grabbed this through a giveaway a few weeks ago. It's a stripped version of the regular program... basically a "teaser". It doesn't contain any of the features I has hoped for. For example, it won't record streaming video.

Unless this "SE" is different from the one I had, the screenshots shown here are misleading as several of the menu selections in the left column did not appear in my install. That's outright deception.

It is simply a lite version. After I figured that out I uninstalled. #pointless

Nice to see this offered again. I started out with version 8 but purchased 10 later on. Didn't see a whole lot of difference in features but as stated above, there is a learning curve (and sometimes major frustration) in learning what to click (features) and what not to click. I've cleared my WHOLE favorites list before by accident so learn what this app can do.

Some of the KEY (at least for me) features is being able to set it and forget it. Yes, you heard me right folks.. For free and no S&H, you can load up a few streams (I like about 8) let this record for hours and capture your favorite MP3's or AAC formated music. It will slice and dice each song and tag the same. It will at times miss the ending of a song so you get 90% before it goes on to the next MP3 but after about 4 hours of 8 stations, you will have a hundred or so (it tires not to re-record dupes) of songs to enjoy later. Pick different styles of music and let it rip... There have been a few offers here that I purchsed. And no, I'm not a spokes person or paid actor.. Just a home user who likes to load just set it and forget it.

Most of the time I use Audacity to record sound files and various other previous GAOTD offerings for video.
Those of you wanting to download from YouTube should really get "YTD".
Available free from various sources, including CNET.
It is free to use, unless you want to upgrade to the premium.
(I have used it for years without feeling the need to upgrade.)
Many other sites allow downloads with this software, (but not BBC!).
Updates are free as well.

Btw - if you install software often, I can recommend you to use Comodo Program Manager, who tracks every installation, so you later on can uninstall it completely. It's freeware, off course. Greets from Denmark

In follow up to my comment nr.8.I was curious so I downloaded the demo version of Audials One. In the demo/regular version the "streaming" function is present. So I think that there is a major diggerence between the SE version and the regular edition. The crippled SE version is pretty useless for me so I uninstalled.

I kindly ask for advice:

Should I unistall my Audials 8 before installing this version?

The installation seemed to go on forever and when it eventually finished the most dull and boring interface I have ever seen appeared.
As I was looking for a way of downloading videos I was informed that my sound software by RealTek, a hideous piece of work, would have to close because of a problem. Even without problems this monstrosity has been the bane of my life and so today's download was uninstalled, my sound system return to its normal miserable self.
