Thank you Astro Gemini and GOTD for these screensavers. I love them and look forward to each and every one. Last month I got rid of my old, flat screensavers so I could have room for these.

#46 Jessie. Don't worry about the Setup.gcd file. They are always self-installing when you activate the other set-up file. Just ignore it from now on.

I work from my computer, so if it's on I'm working. If I'm not working the computer is off as I have had enough for one day. In light of such, I don't use screensavers. Nevertheless, I'm a little surprised at all the negative comments. Especially those who mention the price of the offered software. You can barely buy a burger for $10 so why would that be too much for a piece of software if the software is your forte'? I can't imagine the vendor is making very much here. Software development doesn't come cheap. If screensavers are not your forte' simply move on til the next GOATD. Don't leave mindless and unnecessary comments which have nothing to do with the software's functionality or lack thereof. Such comments are beneficial to no one.

This is a very good, calming, no ads screensaver, worthy of a viewing! It takes you to a very pleasant, relaxing, fantasy world, away from some of the stresses of life. I got it several years ago, and it is a keeper!

Yes we all know screensavers are no longer necessary, but there is still a market for them, otherwise Astro Gemini and others that sell screensavers wouldn't still be selling them. I personally have purhased quite a few ov the last decade. I almost purchased the full set from Astro, but stopped when I realized we were getting loads via ths site. :)

Those of us who do still like to install them do so for the aesthetics. Maybe they should be renamed animated chillout stress relievers, lol :)

I occassionally like to look at some of my screensvers. Especially the fish oriented ones such as the Aquazone screensavers that Whiterabbit one recommended. (I purchased the Aquazone 2 set on your recommedation and have loved them ever since), or some of the ones originally given away here such as the Mechanical Clock, and the Dark Castle. There are others such as Koi Fish that are gorgeous (and look almost real) to look at and another one we got that I can't remember the name of but it has a hunter/pocket watch under water with leaves floating on top.

Some of the newer Astro Gemini screensavers, for example the sea storm one with a tornado over a stormy sea looks fabulous. I have that one set up to run at the moment. Another one I really like is G-Force screensaver (only availble with the platinum version) which is a random pattern generator that can be really psychedelic. Some big bands have used G-Force as a background to their sets. It changes with the music (an voice) you play. Brilliant.

Yes, for me at least, screensavers are still something I'd purchase, especially if they look good. I'm so pleased that you guys still give the occassional screensaver away. (We used to get them every other weekend three or four years ago).

odays n the otherhand look quite old. The graphics look very date.

Come on..... An ashtray on a motorcycle???? Some people would say an aquarium is useless but some people like the light and colors. For people that keep their computer on all day it's kinda nice to have some "art" in the room. It makes everything else look nicer.

Downloaded, extracted, activated, received the "Now activated...what next?" page. Now, to find the files and do something with them is the challenge. I'm using Windows XP and am pretty familiar with installing programs but I'm not getting anywhere with this one. It seems a little more complicated than it's worth (I've already spent 32 minutes working at it) and for it to tie up at least 10 mb of space...I'll dream of a white Christmas with something "WYSIWYG". Thanks anyway, GAOD.

After viewing this giveaway, I found it to be very relaxing. After dealing with Chemo, this is exactly what I needed to relax. So that being said. Thank you GOTD and Astro Gemini for this gift of wishing I could be there in that heart warming town.

I've enjoyed this screensaver for many years. I like the camera movements, the way the trees look in the background, the randomness of the snow falling. I always wonder what lies just beyond the creekbed. It's a bit bleak but you can only imagine that some friends have dropped by (their car is parked outside) and everyone is inside where it's warm after having fun building the snowman and throwing a few snowballs. Great for a hot July day also!

Not "photorealistic" but nicely done!

I got this screensaver back several years ago. In my opinion, it is worth the download. It makes you feel like you are out in the freezing cold. Has a old volkswagon in it as I recall, and lots of snow!

It's a pleasant enough seasonal diversion, if a bit blocky and perhaps more reminiscent of 16-bit stuff. Works fine on win7x32 after I'd used some harsh language on my antivirus.

And I was going to spend Christmas somewhere sunny too, until I realised I don't have any money. Thank goodness for free software, eh?

I have found that the Astro Gemini Software doesn't work correctly when using multiple monitors. Sometimes, they display on one monitor, other times nothing. While I agree with the other comments that the graphics are reminiscent or 10 years ago, this doesn't bother me as much as the technical glitches preventing the software from operating like other vendor's screensavers.

For who want a screensaver, I consider them eye-candy, those produced by 3Planesoft (http://www.3planesoft.com/) are fantastic. They are less than $10, offer a free trial, and, most importantly, support multiple monitors.

Enjoy,

SteveB

Installed on Windows 7 64-bit with no problems.

This is unfortunately one of the most boring Screen-Savers I have ever seen.

Sorry Astro Gemini Software, I usually enjoy your Savers.

Thumbs down.

Thanks GAOTD for our weekly try.

"Photo-realistic colorful graphics"

Really??? Where??? Did I download the wrong screensaver because there is nothing photo-realistic about this screen saver??

Also when running with dual monitors on Win 8 pro the screensaver will only run on my second monitor no matter what changes I make to my display setting.

I live in the country myself and I find the Astro Gemini screensavers to be a wonderful change from the boring, default windows screensavers. This screensaver shows a countryside scene with the camera rotating around a few houses, a bridge, and a snowman while the snow is falling. A nice, calming scenery. I see on their website that they have many other "christmas" screensavers for different tastes, just as nice.

You can change the music, gamma, clock (12hr or 24hr),mouse,and the amount and speed of snow in the settings.

It is a pleasure to walk into a room and see a lovely scene rather than some bubbles, numbers or shapes coming at you from the computer.
Thank you Astro Gemini for a lovely screensaver.

Installs and runs fine. I found it relaxing to watch, but Agree with other comments that graphics could be improved and a little color would add punch. As a freebie I'll probably keep it. At least till the Spring Thaw.

I like Screensavers . But ones like these should be free as there is very little color and it is very cheap looking . Of all the ones available through these guys , this is what they offer ? Interesting . Does not make me want to spend money with them based on how this one looks . I am very appreciative of giveaways . This one just helps no one . Makes the developer look bad ( is this the best they can make ? ) And makes potential customers not be potential .

I don't think of these "screensavers". I think of them more as sanity savers. A nice break when you need something relaxing. Some people are just close-minded & self-centered. They think if "they" don't need it, want it, or appreciate it that nobody should. Yeah, nobody "needs" a screensaver...nobody "needs" chocolate chip cookies, a $500,000 car or a $1,000,000 home, either. I love screensavers. I have a rapid launch program & use my screensaver every time I leave my chair. Sometimes I turn my computer on just to run the screensaver. Thanks GOTD!!

The installation is smooth and easy. Just run the setup and it installs and registers. The screensaver itself is not bad. Screensaver have usually done very poorly in user ratings here so I doubt I can write anything to sway anyone's opinion. Like anything in life, moderation is the key. There is nothing wrong with enjoying a screensaver for a short period of time. Just don't overdo it.

To comment 1, Reality Check, look at this link for a program called Screensaver Commander. It does everything that the Astro Gemini manager does, even better IMHO..

Nice one, thanks for the screensaver. I'm really pleased that you continue to give these away despite the obvious overall negativity towards them. (They've never received a positive score). Also anyone who sings their praises tends to get voted down big time.

Overall the screensaver isn't too bad; unfortunately most of Astro Gemini's screensavers are old and blocky looking. Graphics have taken a leap forwards since most of their screensavers were released with DX 10 and DX 11 graphics now available their screenavers could look so much better.

To Reality Check:

Try contacting Astro Gemini directly to see if they can give you a link to download the manager. I purchased some Astro Gemini screensavers when we first got them on the giveaway project and those executable files (that I backed up) still install a manager.

Bring back AstroGemini screensaver manager. It used to be included free with AstroGemini screensavers and I loved it. It would let you select and rotate among any screensavers on your system you wanted to choose, including non-AstroGemini screensavers. It was better than any other screensaver manager I've tried since then, and I miss it.
