Downloaded, installed and licensed with no problems. I've known about Ashampoo's great reputation but haven't really tried most of their products. Thanks to Ashampoo and the GOTD team for another great giveaway and as always, thanks to our fellow users who not only test these products everyway they can, but then take the time to tell the rest of us the good, the bad, and yes...even the ugly. Baba Booey to y'all

Thanks to Ashampoo and, as always, the GOTD team!

And for the record, Ashampoo does NOT send spam! If the whiners who complain about that whenever Ashampoo has an offer here would actually spend the seconds it takes to read, they'll find out how to, simply, unsubscribe from their mailings if they choose to.

I tried yet again to get the free license key and yet again, I was unable to do so and was given an error message stating, "An error occurred during a connection to www.ashampoo.com. Peer's certificate has an invalid signature. (Error code: sec_error_bad_signature)" I again went to my Internet Options, then Advanced and made sure the box "Allow software to download even without a valid signature." I don't know what else to do, except contact Ashampoo and see if they can email me a free license key?

It has a comprehensive list of tools in this. I tried the defrag tool first, now, I really am not familiar what intelligent defrag means but there you go it must mean something.

All other stuff like Registry fix etc. are found also in other WinOptimizers. I had a staggering 2000 over Registry Errors. whoops... I don't care.

These apps are too much noise for me and I keep moving on as usual without it.

I use an optimizer called Clean My PC. It is extremely fast and very accurate. I cleans up and retrieves many megabytes of worthless material and leaves room for the good stuff. I am very happy with Clean My PC but I'm pretty sure Ashampoo puts out a nice product also.

I tried this last night on Win 10 Pro and since I routinely have used Ashampoo Software for years the install was easy and yes it does work well. This company is first class in all ways and continually offer attractive alternatives and excellent support. I have always been satisfied.

Thanks Again

Wow. This WinOptimizer must have really improved. Never before has a one click do-it-all Windows optimizer ever had such a high approval here on GOTD. I am impressed by the 78% rating. No, really.

GOTD states free, the program mentions a 14 day trial, which is it?
Would appreciate in the future knowing if the giveaway is a trial version or not.

I hope this is version 12 and will work with Windows 10.
I had version 11 which worked well but does not understand Windows10!
Do register your email with Ashampoo and then you Key appearrs automatically and you need not wait for the email.
Of course you have to tolerate the promotional Ads which are usually informative.

Is AWO 2016 superior to version 11 pro? If so, I'll download it. If not, I won't. AWO pro is one of the best, along with System Mechanic and Advanced System care. But you really only need one.

Hi Mate!~this is built better than previous version, 100% free.I have downloaded and tried everything. My reminder for you is just to be aware when you optimize your system, it may cause other software no work, if in case this happen, u can use its build in auto backup system to restore back, other than that , wont be any issue at all

I did learn a long time ago that one way of speeding up your computer is to get rid of all of the optimisation programs on your system. Ccleaner is the only one most of you will ever need.

You can stay by CC for cleaning - but this tool is not only a cleaner - you have many other options in it (example StartUp, Uninstaller, De/Encrypter, ContextMenu, IconSaver...). But I can not say which functions are really working in this version...

Reply   |   Comment by Mike  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

CCleaner also has StartUp and Uninstaller options, though not the other ones you mentioned. It's pretty powerful -- you should give it another look!

I don´t want to made a comparison to CC - I only want to show that it has more functions then cleaning. The title "optimizer" is a bit unfortunate - so most think this is only a "speed up"-tool but it´s not so...

Good piece of software, however this is the usual cutdown version of Ashampoo WinOptimizer 12.

I've always consider Ashampoo WinOptimizer one of the optimization tools. However, as many well-known geeks and computer experts will say, these tools can do more harm than good and can cause system corruption.

Use this program at your own risk and ensure you have reliable backups (you should anyway) before running this software.

I installed but I think that the installation process is not clearly enough explained. Follow this steps: 1. Run Setup 2. Press "Get free activation key" 3. When the web page opens it asks for your e-mail address to get the activation key, but first you must login to your Ashampoo Account or create it and login, and then you activation key will suddenly appears and you will receive the email in a minute. Hope this helps. Its a very good software and company.

I agree with Chris. I have many Ashampoo programs for many years, and i am very satisfied with them. First you must create account on their site (account name and password), then you can get licence key. Best of all, in the future all your keys for Ashampoo programs will be there (in Ashampoo account).
Thank you very much, and have nice giveaway day.

Generic question, bit how does this compare to Glary Utilities, or Advanced System Care. I know Advanced System Care gets slaughtered everywhere, but i have always liked it, and seem to go back to it time after time.

Had to work round an installation problem: after entering the license key it created a new sub-folder called "Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2016" and added some files. It then came up with "cant write file "readme_en_us.htm" to Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2016 it already exists and was stuck because retry did not help. I had a look in the said folder and file readme_en_us.htm was not in there. In the end I renamed the sub folder Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2016 to Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2016-old and went back to the installer and selected retry and the installation completed. I have retrieved all the files created by the installer and placed them in the original sub-folder.
This problem occurs on Windows 10 running McAfee firewall and virus protection.

Like all auto cleanup programs I will need to spend time making a disc image before using it for real so I can go back if it goes awry, but it does give relatively clear descriptions of the changes it intends to make to your PC and an option to hide each issue which I presume means it will not perform the said action. It is not clear if you are undecided on an issue and require more time to decide and thus hide the issue whether it will give you a second chance next time you do a search or it will remain permanently hidden to this program. In other words you use a program like this to save time but then find you need to spend loads of time trying to work out how to best proceed and googleing for help. So I will keep it in the background till I have time to spare??

@tommo
12 = full version,
2016 = somewhat restricted version,
e.g. Ashampoo Burning Studio 12 can burn Video DVDs for standalone video players,
Ashampoo Burning Studio 2016 needs a folder with complete DVD structure (VOB files etc.) which you have to get elsewhere. Nevertheless I'm gladly using the restricted versions from 2012 (perhaps 2011) on for everyday use.

For Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2016 I can't tell the restrictions as I'm mostly using Linux nowadays parallel to some costly Win XP software and even some GOTD programs.
As liking or email to get newer ones isn't for me, I can't be of further help today.

Towards the usual fuss about unwanted emails: Simply unsubscribe or use a separate email for any giveaway registrations (one way emails don't work with every enterprise!). And buy one good product sometimes as nobody can work and earn their living without earning money! And it's an European (Germany) enterprice. Therefore you shouldn't run any risk!

Greetings from an old time author having formerly written lots of comments and who dislikes greatly to activate java script for simply posting his comment.
Have a nice day!

Installed and registered without any difficulties, opens up to a simple and readable interface.

Did a scan of my system and allowed it to clean up; to check it hadn't done any damage rebooted and things worked normally.

Pretty typical of this type of program plus a few extras, system statistics, file manipulation which includes split, join, encrypt and decrypt. In fact lots of interesting goodies in the main menu.

An interesting program with lots of little goodies, in fact a bit of a computer toolbox, so I'll be keeping it.

As Ashampoo have become much less aggressive in promoting their products so am now happy to download their software.

Reply   |   Comment by XP-Man  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+24)

XP-Man I find Ashampoo programs top notch, and I have purchased many over the past year, WinOptimizer being one of them. I always feel that the value received is well worth the purchase price.

But to suggest that they have become less aggressive in promoting their products is (IMHO) incorrect.

I still receive about 5 e mails per day in my burner in box for stuff I've already purchased.

And the programs I have purchased hawk other software titles (which I've also purchased) during start up and you have to click "no thanks" to continue.

One would think a purchased program would be free of such nonsense.

Upgrade from this giveaway "Win optimizer 2016" to version 12?? this is mumbo-jumbo, and needs explaining to people what is the difference.

I agree! Is this the first Win Optimizer for 2016 or is Win Optimizer 12 the first for 2016? I get it that there are supposedly 12 versions, but which one is this?

What is so complicate? Was here x-times declared: Tools with a year or 4 digits are limited versions - the versions with 2 digits (here it is number 12) are the full versions which you must pay for.
I hope Ashampoo will update this practice - it seems the people don´t understand it in 100 years...

Reply   |   Comment by Mike  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Mike
Instead of number of digits just go by whether the name of the software has a date in it. Ashampoo products with a date in the name (2014/2015/2016) are cutdown versions of a full product and NEVER cost money. Those with other numbers (1/3/5/7/10/12 etc) are the full products and usually cost money unless they themselves are on a promo.

I think most people understand that this is a limited version. What people want to know is HOW is it limited. What are the differences between this version and the full version?

Getting licence key doesn't work, keeps asking for a password after entering email. Scrapped installation.

Reply   |   Comment by Chris  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-15)

Chris
It asks for your account password. If you don't yet have an account, you may want to create one on their site; then installation will go smoothly because it WILL give you the License key.

check your previous emails from older registration to ashampoo and you will see your password.
