I haven't tried the uninstaller..but had run a registry scan and fixed it. Next time I open a .mp4 file, it won't open. This software is unable to distinguish between what's important and what's redundant. A combination of Ccleaner and IoBit uninstaller will do the job much more efficiently.

After reading all the comments, I guess I won't be raining on anyone's parade when I say Ashampoo can't even Uninstall it's OWN software.

I was once a big Ashampoo fan, until one day I tried out a program that totally *rearranged* all the folders on my Desktop. (It wasn't supposed to do that!) I contacted Ashampoo and asked how to get everything back to normal - - and spent the next two hours doing all they said, and getting nowhere. We even tried using their built-in "uninstaller" to remove their software and it wouldn't remove. Even my laptop's own uninstaller couldn't get rid of it. The Ashampoo "tech" person finally gave up, saying they had exhausted all options. Leaving me, of course, with some software that didn't work right and about 30 folders that needed to be rearranged.

Since then, I've been very careful about using Ashampoo programs. (Altho I still have a few I got here that I like very much.)

I installed Uninstaller 5 on Win 10 Pro and registered it! I had a number of previous GOTD's that were taking up space and got started right away with good success as it was able to handle the associated files scattered about as well!

I do use a number of Ashampoo Programs and didn't have need for this one but as I dug into the optional features I found the interface easy and access to many of the system and resource features within Win 10 quite useful. I will admit that the novice user could get into some trouble if they do some of the things offered. Normally the novice would be happy with the standard MS options!

I am going to keep this! ---- Thank You Ashampoo & GOTD

I never have problems with this site but I just can't get this program to install. When I click on the "get free activation key" it just sits there. I want this program but time is running out. The last version of this I have is 3.... really want this one. Help! Windows 10 64 bit.

If you insist on installing ANYTHING by this company, use a secondary email address
As far as third party uninstallers like this one go, it's very useful provided the software to be uninstalled was monitored during installation by the uninstaller - that software will be completely and thoroughly removed. Any old software on your PC will be uninstalled in a manner similar to windows built in uninstaller plus a removal of SOME registry entries attributed to the software that is removed.

That being said, as someone that d/l and installs a lot of software, I find this GOTD useful.

The download and registration was very easy. I used the Uninstaller to remove the Bing bar from my system. (no worry's Microsoft will reinstall fast enough)
The program will not recognize all files that pertain to the uninstall unless it monitored the installation.
If the program monitors your installation it does a good job, but I highly recommend you do a restore point.
The programs on my system that monitor things are an enemy to me as it uses system resources. (can be shut off)
If your a gamer you know what I mean.
The extras that are provided with the program I could write a 2 page report on them alone.

With all that said I am a Ashampoo user for more years than I care to think about. This program is not up to the regular quality that they offer with so many of the programs. (very sad)
With that said a thumbs down on this one.

This program is a failure because the installation monitoring "feature" frustrates users and makes the process intolerable.
Ashampoo needs to go back to the drawing board and redesign the software. Throwing in lots of unrelated extra utilities is like an after thought. Sophisticated buyers want to buy 1 software that is excellent for 1 particular use. Not an average software with 10 unrelated utilities to entice buyers that you get more for your money.

"when you start to install a program, the way Ashampoo makes you wait while it scans the system, then afterwards you have to start the program (not possible when a restart is required by the program) so that it can scan again, makes it a very tedious uninstaller."

I don't like the sounds of that. I don't use that option with other uninstallers; people say to be safe with them you need to shut down every program other than the one you're installing.

Ashampoo says: "Our developers have discovered a new way to monitor your system during installations providing maximum accuracy at minimum system resources. In Ashampoo UnInstaller 5, performance is king."

Is it really true that you don't have shut down all your other programs when Ashampoo Uninstallers is doing its realtime monitoring?

Can you not get Ashampoo Uninstaller and opt out of realtime monitoring with it?

Reply   |   Comment by conceptualclarity  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Microsoft has been admonishing developers that after Win7 it is no longer necessary to do restarts after installation or unistallation. Most developers have conformed but not all. This separates the professional developers.

Other uninstallers get their uninstall information from the original installer file cache in the folder %sysdrive%\windows\installer\. Doing the whole system monitor thing is IMHO needless and unprofessional. By that, I mean: so what if a few little entries are left ... as long as you get 'virtually all' and especially the registration entries (which sometimes cause problems when re-installing).

Are Ashampoo doing all of this scanning to "appear" different ? or, are they doing it to seem more thorough to the user? or, ... well, they can't be doing it because they don't know how to do it better !

Think will pass even tho seems to have bunch of 'extras'. I mean if Revo works ok even when a program required being restarted after installing, why not this one. Wise 360 also ok. I guess if don't have an uninstaller it's worth it to try. Careful of Ashampoo habit of emailing lots of junk.

Just set your options to get no e-mail, and you won't get any e-mail. It's not very difficult.

I've had a few Ashampoo programmes over the years, and once I set the options in my account, the e-mails stopped. Just like that. They even remember my preferences when I get another programme, so I don't have to ask again.

Their offerings are pretty good, so don't be worried about giving them a try.

I always get my serial key super fast. Like 5 seconds later. Have been a frequent downloader of Ashampoo giveaways. The website recognises my email and password to their server.

This software gives impression of slowness because of a feature called Installation Monitoring 2.0.
Ashampoo UnInstaller 5 monitors file and system operations in real time during your install.
If you don't like that maybe you can turn that off. Not sure if you can.

Some one else has done an excellent review of Ashampoo Uninstaller comparing it against Iobit Uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller.
Roundup of Software Uninstallers - Reviewing IObit vs Ashampoo vs Revo. You can read it here.
Rusen's review shows that Ashampoo's Installation Monitoring can be a big headache if you tru to install certain software.
Worse, if you did not allow Ashampoo to create a log during installation, then you will not be able to use Ashampoo Uninstaller to uninstall. Unfortunately the log system of removal is not accurate and sometimes remove files needed for other important software that you want to remain in your PC.
Looks like this is a work in progress and Ashampoo will improve it in future.
http://www.digitalcitizen.life/roundup-software-uninstallers-reviewing-iobit-vs-ashampoo-vs-revo

In the spirit of giving the customer MORE, Ashampoo has slapped on many additional utlities unrelated to Uninstallation of software. Such as:

Registry Optimizer
Find Duplicates
Startup Tuner
Font Manager
Link Checker
System restore Manager
Service Manager
Undeleter
Clean system
File Wiper + Disk Scrubber
Drive Cleaner
Internet Cleaner

Oh dear, this is a dreadful mistake. They threw in everything including the kitchen sink. MORE is not Better.
You are strongly advised not to trust the slapped on "Registry Optimiser" until you have had strong endorsements from people who have cleaned their PC registry with this and come out unscathed.

I will continue using portable freeware Revo Uninstaller.

Waiting for next Soft Organizer Giveaway. Much more intuitive to use to monitor install and uninstall complete program. Also possible to track those few awkward programs that need a reboot to complete installation. Although that is tedious as it requires a complete scan both before and after reboot to see what final change is made. Skipping that probably will not leave behind anything too critical. My guess is 99% of all traces will still be removed.

FYI, if you are that visually impaired then why not change to a different size or increase the zoom on the web browser that way there is no need to explain yourself before your post. Also it would then be normal size text for the rest of us.

Reply   |   Comment by Guest  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

Admittedly ALL CAPS is a bit larger than lowercase, but studies have shown that most (if not all) people find mixed lowercase and occasional Capital letters easier to read. In other words, try zooming in to make the text box larger. You may find that lowercase zoomed larger is even easier to read than smaller ALL CAPS. Or maybe not. We're happy to read whatever you find is easier for you by trial and error.

Reply   |   Comment by Terry  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+19)

I'm far more interested in your opinion of the software offered, than I am about whether you are using lowercase, uppercase, or mixed lowercase and uppercase, so if the use of uppercase improves your visibility, I can certainly overlook it.

Reply   |   Comment by Sparky  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+22)

Most MS patience need all caps in order to read text ... it's just the way it is. I have MS, but my vision is not to point, yet. And, no, larger lowercase does not help in this situation.
What is the main differences between this offer and the free versions of the other programs mentioned.

I already use the paid version of Uninstaller 5 on my desktop PC, and it is a solid fully featured program that is easily as good as Revo Uninstaller which I also have.
If you haven't got an uninstaller program, this one from Ashampoo is about the best you can get!

Hi, I have to disagree, when you start to install a program, the way Ashampoo makes you wait while it scans the system, then afterwards you have to start the program (not possible when a restart is required by the program) so that it can scan again, makes it a very tedious uninstaller. If the program required a reboot, then Ashampoo will not remove it as it did not get to scan after installation. Iobit and Revo still do the job much better, in my opinion.

The reason you have to start the program after the install is because many programs only finish the registration process after the first start after the registration information then entered.

Reply   |   Comment by XP-Man  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+23)

xp-man yes, I am aware of why it requires that, but to me, an uninstaller should uninstall all programs, and this doesn't. And if you have a lot on your system, the wait for it to scan before and after seems a long time.
It does a good job on most uninstalls, but others do a good job on all uninstalls without a scan.

Reply   |   Comment by brs  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

I use Iobit Uninstaller and am quite satisfied with it. However, it seems that not Every Uninstaller program gets everything out of the System. I go to Regedit, type in the Program Name and invariably find stuff still in the registry. However, be careful when using Regedit to only uninstall the lines pertaining to that program.

@hummer As far as this software "cleans and improves your system performance" by removing orphaned files and registry entries, and redundant registry entries isn`t really true. I doubt anyone is going to see a performance boost by cleaning their registry, but on that note I do use Ccleaner to do that job for me and uninstalling software but as far as left over files I always go to Program Files and remove the remainders of folders myself if one is left behind.
