Good grief, what an odd program.
What's with dumping a Links to Deals on my desktop? It cost me several minutes to delete that unsolicited shortcut and the regedit checking to make sure they hadn't implanted it elsewhere. STUPID

Non-standard GUI's are AWFUL! The icons on the top right are not intuitive and worse, don't have alt text to explain them! The window is perfect - for blind people - but it's too huge and can't be resized. STUPID

The help file is only available ONLINE. You close the program, it breaks the @$*%# connection and closed help! STUPID

I wanted to run a quick test by RECORDING my beautiful singing in the shower voice. What is with this desire for vast empty space hogging screens and icons that makes you click forward arrows for every freaking step? ALL settings should be on ONE sleek screen, not 5 clicks worth. STUPID Settings: only WMA OGG WAV

Finally recorded myself... at least it worked.

Downloaded and installed ok. Upon testing, I think I would never use anything as large and bulky as this toolset.
@mario: The problem with taghycardia you've reported is most likely a false positive on the Trendmicro side. The program installer is loaded with "sponsored offers", you are right, but they are avoidable. Besides, there is also the ad-free portable version.

Can't understand it should be so difficult to install
Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0

You just go to the download Center:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851

Then you select language and push the big red button: DOWNLOAD

Installs with no problems in some minutes,
and then you are ready to install the GOTD-programme of to-day

Best luck and greetings from

Ok, after about 10 times trying to register, now it finally worked. It would not work with a Yahoo email but when I tried a Gmail acct it went right through so now is ok.

Hope it helped anyone one else who may have experienced similar.

Thanks GOTD -

You should be able to copy from your cassette player. Try enabling Audacity as I described to Shirl in Post #32, or look for some software that should have come with your cassette player and install it.

If you can't find it in a spam box, try to use a different email provider. My hotmail did not work, so I decided to use gmail instead, and after that the reg key arrived immediately. Hooray!!!!

Hope it might help you.

RE; in reply to #23...Mario, I see the link you had a problem with is a .ru extension. I WILL NOT ever download anything again from an .ru site. I've had multiple problems there, both on my personal system and on groups forum (several vicious Trojans planted in bogus posts to the form, so we DID resolve it by writing a routine to block all .ru extensions from even getting on the site, and it solved about 90% of the issues. We are now adding a few other extensions to the string of blocked files (I won't mention any here as to not offend anyone.) Sometimes www means the World Weird Web. Just sayin'

Like ric #20, I too preferred the earlier UI. Thanks for the heads up before I uninstalled the 2012 assuming 2013 to be better. I had the same feelings about the UI changes in Ashampoo Snap 4 to 5 as well, preferring the earlier version. Ashampoo versions, including this one, typically can be installed side by side instead of over each other. So, I'll keep both in case one does a particular job better. They aren't huge applications.

Other than that, I think the cute model on the packaging is a nice marketing touch. Makes me wonder what she's listening to. Probably something edited in Ashampoo Music Studio 2013 by a GAOTD regular, and amateur DJ.

I was introduced to Ashampoo software by a GOTD offering, and have since gotten some of their other programs free, and purchased several of them too (so I guess getting exposure on GOTD works!). I have found their programs to be excellent, for the most part.

One thing: Please quitcherbichen about "spam" from Ashampoo. They're sending you good offers, and you can opt out if you want to. If you're getting too many emails from Ashampoo it's your own fault. Opt out, or set up an email filter to send their emails to trash.

As usual, Ashampoo has improved their product from the last version to this one with the ability to mix tapes and take music from a video. Their menu style has changed a bit and the color is from blue to green but the menu looks wonderful.

I used to have to download many programs just to accomplish what one ashampoo program does, be it music, photography,cd software, or even optimize windows. Music studio is enjoyable to the eye, runs smoothly, does what it says and is free today!!!

Thank you Ashampoo for your generous offer, and thank you GAOTD.

Looking forward to trying this, to add to an already sizeable Ashampoo suite. This requires .NET Framework 4.0 and attempts to install it. Unsurprisingly, it failed. I've been trying for months to install 4.0 but nothing I do can get 4.0 successfully installed on my machine. Judging by the forums, this is a common problem, yet Microsoft's support resources are pretty useless for this problem. What a shame.

#21 Shirl. You have to enable some additional software to get Audacity to record from your PC. Search online for "stereo mix for audacity" and you will find out how to enable it, or install it if it's missing.

Be aware though that it records everything coming from your sound card, so if you're recording something from say a radio station, and a new email comes in, it will add the sound of your email alert to the recording as well.

Like many others said it before, it's really easy to disable those e-mails (as stated at the end of each of those "spam" mails as well). Unfortunately for some people it's too much bother to read the comments, they prefer complaining and bashing.I'd like to quote my comment from another Ashampoo offering from a few weeks back:

To all those annoyed by their e-mails:

You simply have to log in to your account and deactivate them in the Settings section, that’s all, and they won’t bother you again. This works for me for a few years now. Be aware however that you have to repeat this every time you register a new software, in other words, you’ll be subscribed to their newsletters again with every registration, but you can easily cancel the subscription with a few clicks, as I wrote above. If you do this immediately after registration you probably won’t see any mail at all (besides those with the registration codes).

Installed okay but kept crashing when trying to edit music files. Don't like the music edit, It doesn't let me add music into it nor lets me cut sections out for my own use. It just lets me add silence or fade not much there. Bummer this isn't what I was looking for.

RE: #21

For recording radio programs via the PC use DAR.FM. They offer free service to record any online radio show.

The other alternative is to use a Sound Blaster Sound card which comes with a "What You Hear" feature. This mode will only record what is coming out of you PC speakers using Audacity.

The third way would be to use Audacity and purchase a simple stereo output wire splitter (you need several in order to split and then redirect). Then connect one side to your PC speakers but use the other output to send the sound to you MIC input on your PC.

Lossy or Lossless results?

There*s been mention of different alternatives for working with music files, but little has been noted by these experts(?) that most of the programs suggested, decompose the integrity of the file data as a result of their lossy architecture.

A program that results with lossless data, is far superior and less strenuous on music components, especially speakers and the human ear. Listening to a loud distorted music file is painful, whereas twice that volume of a clean full data signal, is a pleasure.

I have several AShampoo applications, including a great office suite. Their software is exceptional. Yes, they send me offers - very good discount offers - for upgrades to my current applications and for new programs. I've never thought of it as spam, but that may be because I expect to actually pay for a program from time to time and I like having the opportunity to get good shareware at a discount.

The 2013 Music Studio supports these audio formats: FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA.
I find the user interface of 2013 Music Studio overly dumbed-down.
To the point of being ridiculous.
While that may suit a novice user, it is unsuitable for seasoned computer users.
So why did Ashampoo do that?
Perhaps to appeal to a larger new customer base.
There is the relentless requirement to come out with something - anything each year. The implication is that the 2013 version must be an improvement compared to the 2012 version. And the next year's version would be expected to be better than the current year's version.

In software, this is NOT always true - newer is not always better.

Anyone who has used the completely hopeless Sidekick 99 software after Starfish software was sold; will know that the older Sidekick 97 or Sidekick 98 were very much better.

Personally I found that 2012 Ashampoo Burning Studio Advanced free edition is superior to the 2013 Ashampoo Burning Studio.

Likewise, I prefer the user interface of 2012 Music Studio to the 2013 Music Studio. I will be uninstalling the 2013 Music Studio.

Furthermore over the years I have had some great offers from this Company, sometimes free and often software at as much as a 90% discount!

Re today's offering. It is a good solid, reliable offering, user friendly and a definite keeper! It is more then adequate for most home users. However professional's may require more advanced features!

Thanks AShampoo for today's offering - Howard:)

Excellent. I needed something like this.

I don't mind their emails. Over the years I have bought quite a bit of stuff from Ashampoo because every now and then they offer a ridiculous deal on some software that I want. I've never paid full price for anything of theirs.

The emails I'm not interested in I just delete. It's that easy.

Due to the previous version that was given away on here sometime last year somehow becoming corrupted I was never able to test this program to its fullest. But I did like what I got to see of it before it became corrupted and Ashampoo told me the only solution was to reinstall it using the opriginal installer.

Because I did not have the original installer I was unable to repair it. Just one of the reasons I do not like using trial or free program installers due to lack of them having a The File to alow for reinstalling a program at a later date due to corruption of one form or another...

Sadly due to the lack of work for Former Security Officers now in wheelchairs I have little work and almost no funding to buy these types of software.

Due to my disability and having to live on a very small monthly income if it was not for the kindness of Companys like Ashampoo and Sites like Give Away Of The Day

I would not have these wonderful programs to use for free Legitimatly. I often have to use the free sites to get software I want to use.

I am so very thankfull to see this music suite offered on here once again

So a great big Thank you to Ashampoo and a great big thank you to Give Away Of The Dsy for bringing us this great program once more.

You all have no idea just how Hoppy you have made me Toady... (spelling intentional). I am such a hoppy frog I am leaping for joy.

I can Now get back to sorting out my music collection removing Doubles plus the added fun of playing around to sort the music into types and artists. Plus then there is the ability to continue to rename and sort my 35+GB of Audio books and Music Collection in to sperate folders.

I like this program a whole heck of alot more than I-Tunes.

Thank you once again
Signed

Super part. Alone am already excited about the beautiful and better design that did not have the previous versions. The Ogg quality is obviously much better than MP3 because the kbt / sec are set higher. But this means that one should not omit the conversion to MP3! It needs it anyway for some other portable devices. So I would still strongly wish for the MP3 integration in this program, if it were perfect.

As my comment from 3:65 am somehow got lost:

Downloading with slow connection about 10 KB/sec broen two times is a punishment. But file size looks like Themida wrapper is missing.
(Same for http://giveaway.glarysoft.com/ with free Ashampoo Photo Commander 10 10.2.1 today.)

Installed and it combines some functions I normally use different free but professional programs for:
EAC (Exact Audio Copy) for grabbing Audio CDs
Ashampoo Burning Studio 2013 from former GOTD
WavePad free cutting sound files, normalizing etc
AviDemux (cutting videos and) extracting sound from videos
Audacity for recording sound

I'll keep it.

What's the difference between today's offering, Ashampoo Music Studio 2013 ver. 4.0.7, and the upgrade offer to Ashampoo Music Studio ver. 4.0.8 (latest version on Ashampoo's website)? Looks like a different colored box, dropping "2013" from the title and bumping the version number to a minor upgrade.

I have to give it a thumbs down just for being overly intrusive in their techniques.

Gehnghis - the reason you have been taken to the registration page is probably because you have registered with them before. ASHAMPOO is a german company. I'm living in Germany and have gotten used to the flood of advertising. Ashampoo isnt that bad. The UI of this particular program leaves alot to be desired. I've fiddled with it a bit and cant find any difference between this and audacity. Not sure if you deserve a thumb up or down for this one Ashampoo.

Had a quick look..
1. mp3, flac input: no mp3 output available. (ogg, wav, wma available).
2. Accepted files with Chinese characters in name, but the title (Chinese in the file) was displayed as 2 rectangles. The artist (also Chinese characters) was shown correctly.
3. Edit file tags- one I tried, no changes, accepted, appeared to distort the album art completely as displayed in explorer.
4. No tag look-up features.

RE #1. After clicking on "Request FREE full version key" button, a window pops up requiring you to enter your email address. The registration key is sent to that email. (If you don't register, the program is good for 10 days.)
I personally hate when programs try to collect your email. While I like Ashampoo's products, I dislike all the spam. So I'll pass on this program. It's nice, but not outstanding enough to pass the threshold to give up my email.

CDs tracks ripper + audio editor, converter & recorder + CD, DVD and Blu-ray Disc burner + audio player, with the ability to even repair damaged or corrupted tracks and.

This is in short ASHAMPOO MUSIC STUDIO....definitely a keeper if you are a music addicted chap, since almost every feature to handle audio files is there without the need to install different software on your desktop.

But don't expect professional features for manipulating sound, as this product is clearly addressed for the average home users out there.
