After I installed the program, I tried to joined a divx movie that came in 2 parts. After running it for over an hour, it still tells me that the remianing time is 20+ hours! You gotta be kidding. I aborted the program, and uninstalled it. No thanks! There are plenty of freewares out there that can do this in few minutes not hours!

It doesn't install correctly on Vista Home Premium 32 either. While it doesn't list that it is compatible with Vista - In the left column
of their home page the following is stated "All Aplus Program has support Windows Vista". Obviously not truebut is on their website. I have uninstalled because of the same error others have reported with Vista.8(

How to Maximize the program

There is a very small icon (that to me looks like a gas pump) in the extreme top left hand corner.

Left click on the icon and a drop down menu gives options that include "maximize". A button labeled "register", "order" and "help" will be visible after maximization.

Labels on the buttons will be cut-off if the font size is larger than 92 dpi.

(Font size can be adjusted by right clicking on the desktop > click on "properties" > click on "advanced".

Hope this helps

XP Pro SP3; Pentium IV; 3.3 GHz; 1 GB RAM; Two SATA drives with 35 GB free on drive of installation; took me at least 20 minutes to find the da.. correct place to click

Said before: no flv support is disappointing, no drag 'n drop even more- hey this is 2008! that feature exists for what, eight years? Ten?

But this proggy even doesn't import dvd movie flicks out of the box, while .vob files are simply mpeg 2.

So you have to rename the extensions because, well, why?

But that's not all.

On all the mpegs etcetera I tried, the program chokes immediately. On my win XP I have not had anything at all except an almost empty file as output.
Which does not prevent a message from appearing: 'Creating Successfully!'.

Yeah. Right.

Bubu, If the video pieces have the same settings, a free way of joining them, without losing sync, is to use "avisynth" (avisynth.org) to join/read, and use that script (a notepad-editable text file with avs extension) as "avi input" for whatever encoder program you want to use. In its simplest form, Avisynth can create a streaming avi of any readable video source on-the-fly. If you want to get more complicated, there are literally thousands of filter plugins available for almost any conceivable effect.

The drawback is that avisynth, although extremely powerful, has rather cryptic error messages - those messages can sometimes be hard for us non-gurus to understand.

This version is 8.68, and is a June 07 version. The latest version on the site shows a date of January 08. Also, if you go to the bottom of the list of features for the latest version, it does NOT include Vista in the list of supported Windows versions

from the site
LASTEST VERSION 8.79 (BTW, correct spelling is Latest Version :) )
Release date: 01-01-2008
OS Supported:
Windows 98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/2003

I would definitely download this if it supported .flv files. Youku (like YouTube, but in Chinese) splits their flv files into segments, and a .flv joiner would be awesome to put them back together after downloading. Hope this helps the developers know what to add in the next version. :)

On the Vista machine, I even tried downloading the one from APlus website, after reading the comment that the serial worked for it too.
However, that one caused the same regsvr32.exe repetitive crash and install failure that the one I downloaded here was causing.

From what I have experienced, I don't see how this program can be claimed to be compatible with Vista!

The problem is somewhere in the process of registering files during the install.

Would not install on vista, regsvr32.exe kept crashing repeatedly during install attempts
Runtime Error
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way,
Please contact this application's support team for more information

Microsoft Register Server (regsvr32) kept crashing during installation. I would check the option "find a solution & close the program" and instead of closing, it would start to run and crash again. This repeated during the whole time that Aplus install window showed extraction of files and installing. Installation file properties don't offer compatibility options either.

I tried installing a second time on the Vista machine, with the same result

#7, #24 Ken Kelly U R a complete and total idiot. I can only hope you're a spoof and there's nobody seriously posting comments that are so inane and moronic.

#69 - good post. Informative, good points. Cheap apps like this often have a hardwired interface that will only run (correctly) at one DPI. I guess that's why there's "Director" for $ 900... and there's this cheapie utility for $29.

To all other "Daily Morons" trying to install on Vista...obviously this software is _not supported_ by Vista -and the publisher does not include Vista in its list of supported OSes. So have fun wasting your time and screwing up your computers. Idiots.

#88: check videohelp.com & doom9.org for programs & guides etc. on how to convert mov.

#82: suggest research at same sites... With 5.1 it can get more complicated, but should be able to retain, or stick in after re-encoding, the original AC3.

#80: generally have to convert from flv before you can do anything like that.

#77: Set a Restore point before install, then use System Restore - In vista it puts all the files back plus the registry.

#68: VirtualDub is a standard that should do what you want, though since it isn't an NLE you cut 1st, then join the pieces. Otherwise there's several NLE type video editors available. Might also want to check out solveig products (think the avi trimmer is free).

#51: VOB files are just a container for .m2v video & usually ac3 audio. A program like DVD Ripper Ultimate 5 previously offered on GOTD can handle it as is, which is the simplest. Otherwise there are several apps to extract the video/audio files which you can use in more software.

Aplus Video Joiner is a video converter (trans-coding) program that will encode (re-encode) one or more video files into one output file. *Joining* files on-the-other-hand normally means combining 2 or more files without re-encoding - the files are simply copied from one place to another as one file, & is the only lossless method... re-encoding Will cost quality plus take longer, and you can tell it’s not a simple copy/join by watching CPU usage in task mgr or similar.

Aplus Video Joiner can work pretty well, and pretty quickly, but your results seem to depend on the codecs you’ve installed on your PC, & which ones you use. Mpg2 didn’t work at all for me (crashed the program), but then I’ve got several mpg2 codecs installed. Mjpeg (motion jpeg) worked, but had problems playing the re-encoded video. DivX seemed to work very well.

The program installs and uses 21 files in Window’s System32 folder (if they weren’t already installed by another Aplus program), plus a folder called RMBin, including 75 files over 4 folders. RMBin holds relatively older versions of Real Media coding/decoding files.

While it’s not *strictly* a joining program, Aplus Video Joiner can still be very useful, since there really aren’t that many programs outside of video editors that will combine files, and it is pretty fast at what it does.

Alternatives: VirtualDub will combine *identical format* avi files without re-encoding, as will most video editing software. There’s a command line utility from Real, that works the same on their format. Microsoft has both a command line program & one with a GUI for combining identical format windows media files, & in *some cases* you can use MovieMaker the same way, all without re-encoding. ProjectX & Cuttermaran will work with mpg2 to cut or join files without re-encoding. In general there’s not much out there for cutting/joining AVC or mpg4.

I downloaded, installed and activated this program. But when I attempted to run it, I received an error code saying that "VideoCreator.ex.exe (actually named in the error message) has created errors. An error log has been created. Program will now end." I looked for an error log, but could not find it. There is no such file naming misstake in the registry or anywhere. I cannot run this program. I am running Windows 2000 Professional and was so looking forward to using this program. I hope I will not have to give up on it and uninstall it. Please advise.

Apart from the name and version, today's program is the same as was given away on the 8th Jan 08; which were called A-One-Video Joiner as opposed to Aplus Video Joiner. I'm a little skeptical of a developer that has cause to sell their products under different names.

For those who remember downloading the above, just compare them.

Silly fact

A-one-video joiner given away 08-01-08
Aplus video joiner given away 08-08-08

I wonder whether it’s a Chinese developer. The number 8 figures as a lucky charm to many in Chinese culture

This program let me join two avi files with different audio sampling rates (without alerting me to the problem). However, the finished product was no good. I used a free program called "virtualdub" which allowed me to make configuration adjustments that produced a perfect result. It also alerted me to the problem and suggested the changes that needed to be made.

re #80. I read that virtualdub will join flv files. A google search will give you the info you need to do this.

This appears to be the same as 'A-one Video Joiner' offered here earlier this year [that was v.4 this is v.8]and seems to work well as that did. It also comes with the same limitations many of which have already been listed: no flv support; no drag and drop support; main window not resizable, too small to read file details. The engine does seem strong as was able to render some amature videos with a strange frame rate, and the speed is acceptable. Overall I give it a weak 4 out of 5, but with some tweaking on the user controls this could become a solid little performer. Thanks Aplus - thanks GotD.

Installed on xp home edition and got all the problems listed by other users. Didn't work when I tried to install from desktop as suggested (maybe I didn't understand?). Also drag&drop didn't work. Any suggestions?

By the way, I'm usually very fond of Aplus programs and use them quit a lot

hey i hate a ton of the programs that they put up here including todays because it doesn't even work on vista, so i gave it a thumbs down, but hey why be mad at the site? i mean its given me other great programs, so i don't put stupid comments like "Oh my gosh why cant this site ever put anything good on here." i just get annoyed that people get mad at this site even when its giving away programs that you would normally have to pay for.

And #27 if you read this please write some sort of reply so i know that you read this thanks.

I for one like that people post their OPINIONS (emphasis on opinions) here. It gives me a quick look at what others think of a program and then I can make my own opinion and decide to download it or not. I agree GAOTD is an amazing site and am very fortunate I stumbled upon it. Keep up the great work! (also to the people who post their opinions)

Installed on Win XP sp3 1024 X 768 screen resolution

When the program was opened a large portion of the opening screen was cut-off. I was unable to find away to expand the screen - boarders are fixed in one position and I was unable to find a workable button to enlarge the screen size (the center button in the upper right hand program bar is grayed out.

I could not find a way to register the program - but since so much of the main screen is missing it could be a registration button is missing. Also I am unable to see a "run", "OK", "Cancel" or any other button to start the program.

The program appears to need more work - a lot more work.

continuation of post #72

With the same 5 wmv clips (lost samaritan movie) changed the Aplus video joiner Video format AVI Codec from it's defalt setting (DivXr6.7 Codec) to WMVideo Advanced Encoder DMO and then tried WMVideo9 Encoder DMO both gave a complete result, but when tried to view the resulting 59.4MB movie (from 84min worth of clips) get an error result: DivX Player: Open File Failure, This file cannot be opened, This file does not appear to contain a Video track. OK

Noticed on the joiner tab TO AVI was selected, will try next the TO WMV tab and see if get a successful result.

Basically am trying to combine parts of movies downloaded in parts into a single movie WITH THE AUDIO IN SYNC WITH THE VIDEO!! But so far have not found software capable of doing this, much less merge the clips and burn them to a dvd/cd for archive and free-up hd space

PS: Complainers - if you don't like the 'ilk' of program being offered don't fill out a complaint in the review section for a program fitting that 'ilk'.

Aplus video Joiner is extremely slow when converting and combining video clips. After 10min's Aplus had converted less than 70mb of a 1GB collection of movies (WMV format being converted to AVI (Divx)). The Aplus run time meter indicated less than 1% and estimated 16 hours to completion.

"Super" by eRightsoft is free and faster than most commercial programs! Options rich or dumbed down modes, "Super" far exceeds Aplus.

To the people that complain about the free programs and how you state you should complain, the plain and simpleton truth is no-one twist your fingers and made you download the free program. We should be saying Thanks but No-Thanks instead. This site does nothing but offer the software free. Your choice of what to do with it.

To the person about dog crap. Receiving dog crap without asking for it, is a world different then opting for something for free.

When you leave messages why not just tell everyone why you don't (or do) like it and leave out all the rest. That way the others that have not tried it know what to look for. All you do is make yourself look bad with all the added nonesense. Thanks to all of you that explained what is good and not good about the freebies. Me

Downloaded and installed - registry error showed up, then the box kept popping up. Couldn't get rid of the files. I had to do a system restore, then reinstalled as Admin, only to get the same problem - and one interesting note, when I reinstalled after I did a system restore, it said the folder already existed! And my system restore's restore point is 2 days back. Anyway, I ended up doing another system restore. Thumbs down for me, it looked like a great program, too. Vista Home Premium here. To #46, it doesn't support Vista Home Premium, even as Admin!
