WOW!

NEVER have I seen an offering here that had over a THOUSAND THUMBS, regardless of WHICH direction they were pointing! It's a pretty good sign that this is one great software, with over a thousand thumbs UP (if anything, there seems to always be an overwhelming number of thumbs down, usually right out of the gate).

And likewise, I've NEVER seen an offering that had such a lopsided ratio of thumbs-ups to thumbs-down, with today's offering coming in at 5:1!

I have a number of Aiseesoft's softwares, all of which I got here, and I must say that I've never been disappointed by their ease of use, professional-looking GUI, and excellent performance!

By the time I get this comment posted, it'll be too late for you do download and install it if you haven't already. It just goes to show that you should check GAOTD early in the day (giveaways run from midnight to midnight, in YOUR time zone).

So thanks, GAOTD and Aiseesoft for the fantastic gifts! At the risk of sounding jaded and greedy...

KEEP 'EM COMING!

The product installed and registered like a dream. I had a little confusion concerning updating my AMD Graphics card, but the instructions were clear enough for me to eventually do it. (And I'm awfully glad I did!) Thanks so much, GAOTD and Aiseesoft!

When you enter the keycode is it possible for it to activate for all current users on the computer for that date. I have an administrator my own account and one for friends (guests). I will probably post this in the forums. Thank You. Enjoy seeing your software.

@ #24-Ken and others who have this question. If you have the Aiseesoft Blu-Ray Ripper last given away here on June 17, 2011 you might not want/need today's giveaway as the Blu-Ray ripper will convert DVD's also even if you just have a DVD drive installed.

Thanks GOTD, nice program, no installation troubles, worked first time. It would seem to do protected dvd's (by virtue of the fact I can see that it "watches the video" very quickly so I'm guessing it'll do protected dvd's nicely). I VERY CLEARLY HAS Android specs plus about 10 bazillion other profiles for all sorts of devices. NOTES: It's so easy to use, just a few clicks and you're on your way. If you use the standard settings, it uses 15 frames per second which results in jerky video. Choose original and it will increase the size only slightly (maybe 25%) but make a perfect viewing experience; for extremely wideframe videos, choose crop and you'll get a much bigger pictures without the stupid black bands (you lose some picture on the sides but it's well worth the trade off. THANKS AGAIN GOTD, I WAS IN NEED OF SOMETHING THAT WOULD LET ME PUT VIDEOS ON MY TOSHIBA THRIVE TABLET AND THIS PROGRAM WORKS A TREAT!

@38 (via @36) Watcher1924 : just in case there's some confusion. By renaming the DLLs - AND NOT DELETING them - you can 'test' to see if their absence is ok. If it's ok, PRESUMABLY you may 'proceed' and delete them. Reason: Some of these guys (maybe reghacker) are oldschool and don't like 'wasting' space (eg. with duplicate files (especially DLLs (libraries)).

Would suggest, from personal experience, you 'adopt' a system of using 'useful' extensions. Eg.".dl" is perfectly fine, but i prefer to add an additional extension (".obs" or whatever) so i can search for ALL renamed "whatevers" on the system at any given point.

please excuse double posting...

@32 REGHACKER - from your post, i think you may know of some suitable app to manage my programs - ie can create a database of all apps found on pc, get good descriptions and version info from web, categorise lists into suitable categories, have an easy to use search function etc? If not, anyone else with ideas please comment:)

I enjoy my journey to this site every single day. It's free software, and it's being offered this free gift every day that keeps me coming back. Thanks GOTD and Aiseesoft!

Don't forget to go to 'PREFERENCES' and near the bottom at 'UPDATE SETTINGS' untick 'CHECK FOR UPDATES AUTOMATICALLY' or you will lose this version and get a 'PAY FOR' version if you update. I fell for that a few times before when I installed 'FREE' software.

A few people complain about lack of Android support. I know little about codecs and the lots of different file formats, but I do know that I put in basic MP3s and MP4 files in my wife's samsung galaxy S without bother. Just about every converter wil support these formats including this one.
Slagging people off for their broken english is not reasonable argument. If you do or don't like the software you should try and expand the reasons.

GOATD,

You have some very specialized software to offer and I have found myself interested in some of it. However I would like to see you offer a broader range of programs for people with broader needs. It seems that most of your offerings are limited to DVD rippers, Photographic/Graphic processing, and the like. How about a wider range of utilities such as "Rollback", "ReImage (a lifesaver)", "Real Player", "Tune up Utilities 2012 (excellent)", Antivirus Suites, Hard Disk and back up utilities, ect. Let us see what is "out thar" so we have a broader knowledge base to choose from that most closley meets our needs. .......Have a Very Good Day..........

I tried converting a 1hr 26 min DVD to MP4 (1200 vid bitrate) and stopped it after 55 minutes and only 20% finished. Tried converting the same video to AVI (XVid 1000 bitrate) and let it run for an hour and it still showed over 3 hours remaining. Both conversions using the same output framesize as input to elimanate any resizing time.
So does ANYONE out there find these time acceptable.
My laptop is be no means the fastest but it is a Dell 1.6 gog dual core processor with a gig of ram.
Does anyone have recomenndations as to how to get a FAST conversion closer to REALTIME instead of 3X time???

I just converted Miami Vice for my Android. There is an Android Friggin Icon in the choices box! Someone also mentioned above that if you have an Android device you should at the very least know that mpeg is 'good to go'. Thanks for the deal today. IT IS FREE AND IT WORKS GREAT! Where is the problem.

BTW, Every manufacturer caters to the 'i' products and forgets the stepchild, Cinderella (Android). I have tried both and I am one happy, not tied to itunes, adding memory to my phone, 4G capable, Big screen tottin', lots of free app Android fan. :-)

Oh, and sorry, but some of us, and I venture to say, quite a few of us, appreciate the fine software from Aiseesoft. Are we not allowed to say so without being taken to task and criticized about our "broken English"?

EXCELLENT piece of software! Easy to use, plenty of formats to choose from, powerful. While it lacks android, I don't find this to be a problem because you can convert your files using other software after the rip. This app covers the biggest hurdle by ripping it for you. I've been using the version of Aiseesoft Blue Ray Ripper that GOTD offered in the summer of 2010 and I thoroughly enjoy it to this day. I have not had one movie come out bad because this program bypasses all DVD encryptions with ease. Even DVDfab still struggles with this. Excellent software and I will install this on all three of my capable computers!

OMG, another DVD Ripper. This is the list of rippers already on my computer:

iToolSoft DVD Ripper
WinX DVD Ripper Platinum
Aiseesoft Blu-ray Ripper
Aplus DVD Ripper
Joboshare DVD Ripper Platinum
MacX DVD Ripper Pro
Tipard DVD Ripper
3herosoft DVD Ripper Platinum
iovSoft DVD Ripper Ultimate
4Media DVD Ripper Ultimate 6

Try a search on your computer for DVD Ripper and see what you come up with.

Definitely let things get out of and and will have to review each again and decide one or two for keepers.

If you decide to keep Aiseesoft DVD Ripper, check your system directory for msvcm90.dll, msvcp90.dll, and msvcr90.dll in the Aiseesoft DVD Ripper directory, rename them and fire up the program to verify it works. If you're using the English language, you can delete help_de.CHM, help_fr.CHM, and help_ja.CHM help files.

In te language directory you can delete de.rcc, fr.rcc, and ja.rcc files.

If the msv*90.dll files exist in the sqldrivers folder, you can delete these as well, again if these are in the system directory.

This saves 4.9 MB in space

#10, Harry Wacker, It clearly states it converts to MP4 at the top of the page. If you use Android you should know what format it can use.

H.264 = .mp4.

Depending on what version Android you have you may also run; H.263, 3GPP (.3gp) MPEG-4 (.mp4,H.264 AV, MPEG-TS (.ts, AAC audio only, not seekable, Android 3.0+), MPEG-4 SP, VP8(Android 2.3.3+)Streamable only in Android 4.0 and above, WebM (.webm) and Matroska (.mkv, Android 4.0+)

From an iPhone User

#20, DavetteB, I would suggest you convert the DVD into a format like H.264 (.mp4) and save some room on your laptop. The H.264 conversion will reduce the size of the original DVD from 5 or so GB to around 1 GB depending which one you actually use. Then download the free VLC player program which is quite small and plays a ton more videos than the stock laptop player will. Make sure that once you choose a profile you are going to use that you go to the settings and select the size to view best on your laptop. You may want to try to find the generic MP4 profile as that usually gives you the most settings choices. Called MPEG 4 Video (*.mp4) in this program. Make sure you choose the lowest Resolution and 2 channel Stereo that will look good on your laptop to have the conversion as small as possible. All this will save room on your laptop so you can take more movies with you. Just some suggestion...

Good luck!

The only suggestion I have for this program is to not only list what the conversion is optimized for and to give the actual resolution of the conversion without having to go into the setting of each one of the profiles . You actually do in some cases but should be there for all.

I have been using Winx DVD Copy Pro (which I got from GOTD) for a while, and I think it is much, much better than todays giveaway. (And it comes with numerous .iso tools.)
It can only rip to .mpeg, but thats fine as most media programs today support them.
I put the ripped files (backups of my SGA and Firefly DVDs) on a USB, plugged it into my TV and wham, I can select from the full range of subtitle and audio languages, and the video quality was SUPERB.
And it was bloody quick, a 40min episode took under 5min to do.
Todays giveaway however, was not that great at all.
Yes it can rip to several file formats. (I tested with .avi and .mpeg) But it is hideously slow compared to other products (even free ones like Format Factory), the resulting picture and sound quality was poor, and the subtitles were missing for most parts of the film I ripped (those that were there were out of sync)
I tried with several discs, all with the same result.

When ripping for android in my experience the only format to avoid is WMV, this is the only one I have been unable to play on either of my tablets.
They have been quite happy to play AVI and MP4, so today's program looks like a good bet if you own an android tablet.
