This is a UI rip off from Norton Anti-Virus and definitions are also a copy of Norton. Norton Rip/Defintions = WORST ANTI-VIRUS EVER!

I have had to uninstall this program after a few weeks of use due to the fact that it crashed my system repeatedly. :(

Since May 6th, it won't upgrage the file. Everytime it report connection problme, but I'm connected with NET. Anybody has same problem?

I haven't been able to update since May 6th. It seems to run fine but since it can't update its pretty much worthless.

Since the latest update everything is working fine. Every time I do a scan half way through I get a message saying "archivioadulti.com" trying to access the computer.

I wish I'd read your post and saved myself the trouble this software has caused-even after I customized the settings to avoid the potential headaches. As I posted in the forum, hoping to get some feedback:
The progam becomes a mess after installing update to Version 180 - DO NOT download it if you haven't already done so. It now act like it's about to download a new update file, then stops and says "Error downloading file. Please try later."
It is stuck on Database Version 180//May 06, 2009

Of greater concern, SysTweaks own website says this version can "Restore QUARANTINED Items" and even "Restore REMOVED Items". I was unsure of some of the items it was picking up, so I have it set to "Never Delete Quarantine" and set a restore point, first, thinking I could restore files/reg.key, should I need them.

Not only does the program seemingly delete EVERYTHING saved to Quarantine when it does a new scan, but under the "List of Last 20 Logs", everything is gone except the most recent. Vanished.

I've had far fewer issues using beta software. I'm blocking all further activity, but am afraid to uninstall it until, hopefully, we get some word from someone at Systweak or GOTD.

Hey I give it a two thumbs up,it is compatible with my other spyware and antivirus programs. I have webroot and spybot and they work well together but my comment today is that after I installed it I ran a deep scan on my system and was amazed,because it found some other bugs that my other software didn't or hasn't found namely some trojans to my surprise. So I would recommend it to all users,it's better to be safe than sorry! Thanks guys for a all in one system protector,cleaner,monitor,etc. Good Stuff!

may be a late in commenting ASP.. I had problem on the day of giveaway.. the system hang ,,I wrote to them and within less 24 hours they reply and giving me a new link to down load.. I really appreciate and very happy with their response.. after d/l the ASP the ASP found 41 spyware including trojan, virus and adware.. Thank you GAOTD and also a big Thank you to very responsive ASP staff..

This release of ASP DOES NOT WORK with Vista 32. After several attempts by their techs to fix the problem, they set me a new download. "Oh, sorry. It's not free anymore."

I too faced the same problem but updating to the latest definitons resolved my problem and now my using it without facing any problem.

I tried to think what I recently installed, so I disabled Advanced System Protector Pro, and the problem has not return. I am considering getting rid of the program. Too bad I posted this after the giveaway is past, people might not be looking over here now.

Thumbs Down. This software blocked Outlook 2007 from downloading images, with no way to tweak it so it wouldn't. Uninstalling resolved the issue. Makes me wonder what else it was doing in the background. My advice - use AVG products, they are free and transparent.

I have never seen such a huge disparity in comments for any one program any where. From a huge number of FP’s like mine (#154) to quite a few saying it worked perfectly. Any one have any takes on why this might be?

I like this program, It also found a few things that other programs did not. No noticable slowdown of my system, I shall leave it on untill at least my next format :-)

I ran this software and deleted and quarantined all the positives it stated. When I rebooted my computer it kept scanning the disk and keeps doing it over and over again and refuses to boot to the operating system! I also can't boot in safe mode now to uninstall, nor can I do a system restore! Help!!!

Larry (and Anthony) here is the rub. How do you know that these 38 items are really malware of any significance ? If they were, I think you should do a new XP install. If they are not you could be removing important parts of programs or the operating system.

There is no indication that this company has anything like the expertise of Malwarebytes or Avira or SuperAntiSpyware or a dozen other companies. And even those companies have problems with false positives, you have to be very careful.

Many software products try to scare you in various ways by making it look like they doing yeoman work protecting your system. Some are trifling with inconsequentials, some are designed to deceive, some are mixing apples and oranges, I would never take the claims of a second-tier product without a proven and solid track-record seriously.

Well-Oiled, please stop trying to become Well-Heeled by continually shilling for Norton with whom you have a commission arrangement.

To the readers, many of the freeware products (e.g. Online Armor firewall, Avira anti-virus) are excellent, many others are good to very fine to excellent, and often the best paid products come from the same companies who have solid freeware.

And if you are intimidated by the scare tactics of the Well-Oiled-Shill then you can read up at Wilders Security Forum on the various products. You can also learn which GAOTD products to pass up -- like this one today. The red warning on Web of Trust should be sufficient too. You can also check Donationcoder, Lifehacker and a few very solid sources. Only use security programs that have some positives and no significant negatives from such sources.

# 138 - Bill, why do you want to run SysTweak, when you are running the excellent Norton Internet Security??? All Security Products slow down the Computer, Norton psoducts a little more, if anything. But that is because the Norton Security products work that much harder! I say that is worth the price to pay for a Clean Computer!

I agree with you - Freeware Security products are at best 50% products - and at worst, they introduce a few Viruses of their own, which only the "Paid-for product can cure!" - you know what I mean! :)

I have a rather clean copy of Vista Business as I restored to factory settings about three weeks ago.. So far have been having fun reinstalling favorite programs and experimenting with some new ones. Was running on Vista Firewall up until yesterday where I decided to install PC Tools Firewall with Threatfire... Tried Comodo but found it too complicated for me. Using Avast as my Antivirus. I also run Windows Defender and SpywareBlaster. I have just completed a scan using today's giveaway.. and received just one positive.. an Adware called Smokescreen linked to Hotspot Shield..

Thanks Giveaway, and Systweak, but I'm sorry to say that Advanced System Protector Pro is not ready for prime time. I would consider it operating at a middlin' Beta level for actual operation, but release ready for GUI.

It took three attempts before it would install properly - setup starts, and then hangs & keeps Windows from shutting down - it seems to spawn a svchost process that deadlocks on something, and you can't kill ASP from TaskManager.

After it installed & updated, it did a scan. Unfortunately, everything it found was a false positive (I have tried hard to keep a clean system). Most disturbingly, I unchecked the boxes beside each item and ASP still quarantined everything. Note that the default setting is to delete quarantined items after 30 days!

Some fatally problematic false positives:
1. It removed some 6to4 registry settings If you are using IPv6, this is catastrophic and can cause the loss of Internet connectivity some people are reporting.
2. It thinks that some files in i386 are infected. I checked, and every file it thinks is infected matches the original file on the system recovery disk. By removing these files, you will not be able to properly "autofix" critical system files (one of the files was the compressed explorer.ex_).

When ASP is running a scan, it also tends to kill the performance of all other tasks - couldn't even do a "dir" at a command prompt. ASP's priority should be normal or just below, not the highest when scanning. (Yes, realtime monitoring should be at a high priority.)

And to top it off, it has crashed twice since I installed it this morning, and once it prevented the system from starting up properly.

Thankfully, ASP does seem to uninstall fairly cleanly using Revo.

Systweak needs to use better trace signatures (identifying i386\explorer.ex_ as infected when clean is definitely a failing grade), and spend more time debugging. I would suggest that Systweak resubmit this once the work is done.

I'm confused whether this is an Antivirus or Antispyware. I already have comodo internet suite which provides Antivirus & Firewall but not the Antispyware so can I go for this? will it fulfill antispyware needs or will it cause conflict with comodo??

Seems to work ok, installed it by giving out my email address as instructed by the read me and it gave me a activation key code. The program also wanted to do an update and I let it, seems to be about 20mb. That finished and then it did a quick scan, found what about 62 warnings some low some high, and 1 that I know for a fact was a false positive on its part. I did do the removal restarted and so far so good. I have windos xp service pack 2 installed and had no issues with using or installing program. I dont use IE so I disabled the shield for ie since I dont use it at all. I think it makes a good solid anti-spyware software.

I didnt have any real serious malware on my computer so your results may vary if you have an infection. The quick scan took 40minutes about average for a scan. I think for a freebie it seems to be a fine program.

Most of the infections are valid. They can be checked by submitting the detected infected file to http://www.virustotal.com

They also have a online virus encylopedia at http://www.spywarelib.com which also states the reason why they considered this as infected.

Overall I like this giveaway :).

To #16 - I also use Avast and do love it. I lost my hard drive to a nasty virus using AVG. HOWEVER, Avast is NOT a malware detector. It may catch some, but not all. You need a program that is an anti-Malware program. There is not a product available that will catch everything. Multiples are needed. I learned the hard way. Malwarebytes Anti-malware is a good free one for that.

I am using XP with SP2. Presently, there is no antivirus software installed on my computer. I installed this ASP software and also the updates. As soon as the updates were completed and I checked OK, the computer hanged. When I pressed ctrl+alt+del to shut down, the display on my monitor rotated by 90 degrees, and the scanning started on its own without my prompt for anything. Shutting down and restarting the computer did not help, my monitor still displays from left to right rather than from top to bottom (i.e.I have to twist my neck at 90 deg to read the screen). CAN ANYONE PLEASE ADVISE ME HOW I CAN GET BACK MY DISPLAY TO NORMAL? Thanks.

Well...I ran the full scan.

It considers RAdmin a backdoor trojan. Which I suppose due to the nature of the application, it sort of is. But it's a credible application...what's even funnier is that TeamViewer, which I also use, is not picked up.

It also found a lot of stuff from vbskpro, which a search reveals to have something to do with skinning for Visual Basic? not sure what that's about.

My guess is that it's picking up things that are "kinda" dangerous, or fuzzy positives, and reports them to let you make a decision, though it makes them appear more dangerous than they actually are.

I created a restore point and let it do its thing. Can always reverse it if something catastrophic happens.

i had this program on my computer for a couple off hours, and my computer kept restarting it self. i unstalled the program and now my comp is fine. would anyone know why it was happening.

Disappointing, program crashs after start with multiple crashing dialogs. Ran with & without administrator privileagues under Win2K.

Might or might not be a result of another installed tool like an AV solution of whom AntiVir was installed.

For what it's worth the download took forever with a 5meg DSL profile.
That being said after Installing etc. and running the program it did pick up a lot of stuff.
However the next time I turned on my Notebook I got the dreaded BSOD.

After getting back to normal and uninstalling the program, came to find sasnative.exe had been removed from my system32 directory.

I'm using Avast and Ashampoo Firewall and have never had any real problems.

Sorry to say this didn't work out but what the hey.

Advanced System Protector Pro found 6 "problems" of which ALL were False Positives and would have broken 3 programmes I use had I let it "fix" said problems.

Definitely create a backup point - you'll probably need it once your favourite applications start acting up!

Get a second opinion before you start deleting files and entries with this.

This programme can be devastating if you don't use it carefully...

Ran a scan and it turns out my entire ‘saved’ folder For Diablo II is rated as an elevated risk! And calls it….Adware.Great-Mahjong! WTF?

And diablo2.exe is a “Trojan.vakiik.ass” what the hell is that?

odbcinst.dll (Microsoft ODBC Administrator?) is a Trojan clicker?

My network is a backdoor Trojan?

Autorun.inf is a Trojan downloader?



Out of 107 infections… three were legit. Does not bode well Advanced system what ever. A few too many false positives…..

or just get linux and you don't even need this :D

I see a lot of comments about finding items that other software doesn't find and I wonder are these false positives or does this software find things that others don't.

It automatically installs into the Program Files folder, which is where I don't put the things I install. I sure as hell wouldn't pay for this, just because of that.

Honeymoon over. First scan was good. Then I updated the definitions and second scan crashed itself, then third scan crashed itself. No idea why. Very disappointing.

The malware scan is garbage. found loads of false positives on my machine. Ive seen cleaner looking results in malware removal forums. didnt bother with any of the other features. uninstalled it.

Downloaded and installed cleanly; scan listed some objects I've been trying to remove - unsuccessfully - for a while. Seems to be clean now. Will wait to see if they reinstall themselves. Thanks GAOTD for another goodie.

hi I am a PC technician and i did a test of this app on what i would consider a clean system.
It produced 7 false positives - 2 files of which are Microsoft signed!! I uploaded files to virustotal.com and found them to be clean. Links to info on the files from within the app led to a wot (web of trust) red - untrusted web site! I would be wary of this app that has a high false positive rate and it could delete important system files!! Use with caution - i uninstalled this app.
I suspect ordinarily this high false positive rate will entice users to pay for a licence.

Installed this just for testing. Installed and registered without problems. Then ran a quick scan.
According to this program, BSPlayer Pro (media player) is a virus. Hide My Folders (from GAOTD) is also a virus. Jitbit Enkodr (also from GAOTD) is flagged as a malware too. PostgreSQL is malware too.
One user (#116) here reported that even Warcraft 3 is a reported as malware !
A good antimalware should not show so many false positives.
This program is going straight to the Recycle Bin.
A BIG thumbs down.

I use the A-squared (that was previously given away here), Arovax Shield, AVG Anti-virus & Windows Defender.

Does this software have an advantage to A-squared and/or Arovax Shield? Should I use it in place of them or with them?

Also, I use Firefox... so is there an advantage to using it just as a stand alone scanner?
