This DID expire in one year. What a Bummer. I used it twice in the year and while confusing to use, it did trim videos well.

Maybe they'll offer a non-expiring version on GOTD sometime?

This program seems to work fine, BUT it certainly takes liberties with my computer. As part of the registration process, it sent an email home via my Outlook Express account with the GAOTD registration code and my computer ID, and several days later a licence code arrived back by email to the same account. It could at least have asked me to send it by email myself.... I sort of wonder what else it might be doing.

HyperOS for me. When my system gets 'buggy' or anything I just drag a backup over the 'buggy' system and I'm back to a clean system in 5 minutes!

I keep all my documents on a separate partition so they are not replaced. You can back-up whole systems (programs etc - the lot) to Internal/eternal/NAS drives or tell it to backup in 4.2/4.7GB or whatever chunks for DVDs.

I got tired of having to deal with Windows losing DLL files, viruses, losing drivers etc... Maybe I'm not so 'up on computers 'as you guys but I don't need the hassle and best of all, I don't have to worry about needing to know all that stuff anymore.

Easy to install, if you've no Windows install disk you can just chop your HD into as many partitions as you like, clone the good one you're running (while it's running!) to another partition. Back that up and drag it to another partition (multiple systems) which you can dedicate to whatever programs you like. Back them up etc... and drag over damaged system when needed.

God bless.
In Christ, Karl.

I used AVS Video Conveter professionally, it was for/at a California University IT Dept. I use Sony Vegas 7 and Premiere on the PC XP SP2 thanks, and FCP on the Mac. I will pass on this today (no thumbs down) as I don't need it, but this is very interesting. I imagine it converts video, but I am reluctant to try as the comments say this is BETA and the crashes, etc. I will avoid. Thanks anyway GOATD. I say that this company has a good reputation and my converter expired and am contemplating purchase for professional uses.

#131, dog
Do you seriously need an answer?

Why first (#120 to #135) putting down people with just good intentions? Criticism is good when the intention is to improve, but your are only offending people (your intention was 'joking' you said).

Even when your question is serious, do you really think someone is going to help now? Polish away some of your rudeness and perhapse you yourself will be no longer a 'joke/dog' anymore.

It installed and opened fine in Windows XP SP2, however it wouldn't activate. I tried the activation option from within the program and also the start menu, as some have suggested. It kept giving me an error saying that I didn't have an Internet connection which is obviously untrue or I couldn't be posting this. The back-up option is to request an activation from tech support by email which I did but I don't know if that will count if it is after the GOTD download day : (

This is XP pro SP3 older Athlon 1.44, 3/4 gig ram. Anyone have a solution?

Installation and activation easy as.

Create movie, easy as. Great.

Playback, cut much shorter than what I recorded as another poster mentioned. Not acceptable.

No logo displayed. Great.

Chose to install program to an external drive, BUT, it chose to install other crap in " C " drive. This is not a responsible move as this is my computer and I decide where to put things on MY computer !! Not acceptable.

Out it goes and I am not risking just uninstalling it. As usual, I did a full image backup prior to installing. Back to normal quickly.

I found other bugs and faults which some have been mentioned earlier, however, I will not waste my time to help a software developer who dictates to us what we do with our personal computers. My apologies to all users for not being more helpful, but as the offer is nearly over, help is not much use now.

Thumbs down on the behaviour of this software developer.

This is NOT BETA!

Well, it technically is, but this is the exact same version that's available on AVS's website. Even their version says BETA. So don't let everyone thats stating this is BETA confuse you. It is the same version you get if you bought it from their website.

Now, what I don't know is if this will expire in one year, like AVS's normal pricing policy.

Installed on Vista Ultimate x64 - installed fine.
HOWEVER - when I tried the activation I got a popup saying "A monitor program has been found running in your system. Please, unload it from memory and restart your program."

The only thing I can think of that it is complaining about is Kaspersky Internet 2009 - and for a program to not activate because of an application like this is not acceptable. There is no way in hell I would deactivate an application that protects my system because of a software popup.

THUMB DOWN ON -ANY- SOFTWARE THAT ACTS IN THIS MANNER.

#98. 119. 152 etc.
I must be missing something....
i downloaded the non beta version of AVS Video editor v 3.5(.1.355)
running XP SP2
I install the non-beta version, open the bet zip, get the "Regisration key" from readme.txt, open the installed 3.5, click on "Help" in menu bar
there is no "activate option" only "Regiter", which opens a box asking for "Registration name" and "Serial number"
I type in a name and paste the key into the s/n box, hit "Submit" and get a msg box "Registration is failed" "false"

ALSO there is no AVS4YOU in the start menu .....

Here is a helpful hint! To elaborate on what #152 said. If you download the file that GAOTD has on this page and open the read me file and copy the registration key and then follow the link on this page to AVS's website and click on the non-beta version of AVS Video Editor and download that file and activate that version with GAOTD's code you get the full version plus access to many of their other titles for free! Okay, I hope this works for everyone!

Installs and runs nicely on XP SP2. Thumbs up!

I haven't tried many features yet, but at least its no watermark/logo on the finished video!

I would recommend installing the FFDShow codec http://www.free-codecs.net/download/FFDShow.htm and also to have the freeware VirtualDubMod http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdubmod/ as an addition to this one! VDMod seems much quicker to render an output file btw.

Seems like a nice userfriendly program!

Very disappointing, unless someone has a solution.
