Awesome. Converting software. And, it doesn't run on Vista.
Yay!!! Maybe tomorrow we'll have stuff we can only install on Windows 3.1.

Checked on what the GAOTD was early this morning. Seemed like something I would like to try. Went to internet site for download. Home again after midnight to register. Didn't open up a window with serial. Email received told to download AGAIN for Full eng?

So what did we DL from GAOTD? Is that same or different program. But then I'll have 2 prgms with only 1 valid reg info? Doesn't make sense.

It's at 5% and showing 1:38 remaining. It's just not worth it.

I downloaded & register, with no problem, on Vista Ultimate.

Then I tried to create a slide show & got:

Error: Unsupported compression type

Access viollation at address 10011403 in module "MakeSWF.dll". Read of address 0000000C.

After that all I could do was go into my Task Manager & close the program out.

I have no idea what all that means. Looks like a very simple slide show maker to me.

Thanks.

Maybe I don't get it - this is one of the most anemic programs I have seen on GOTD. Photostory 3 blows it away, if you want to send a photo album by email. Don't see why anyone would buy it.

Thought I'd give the company its props. I signed up for the license and the email appeared in my mailbox faster than the page reloaded to display it online. Considering that I'm on dialup, that's impressive. I'm still waiting on the download but I already have the license. No gripe on this aspect. They are responsive.

What is the big deal about going to the website to register? This is standard on a great many programs, freeware, shareware, paid and all. So they want a shot at selling you something else; who doesn't? Its free, they do what they say they will, you asked for the program. Not an issue.

I installed this successfully and easily on my XP unit. (I was also going to use it on my Vista unit, but it wouldn't install).

I tested it and found it user friendly, quick to use and produces a SWF painlessly and professionally. A great additon. Thank you TurboDemo and GOTD.

I think I'll pass on this one as I can most likely do the same thing w/my windows movie maker and pixelon. But I had to comment w/my experience using Vista home premium, it's a good idea to install and run your software as administrator then you shouldn't have that error msg. Anyway, 'twas my experience. A huge thanks to GAOTD for this wonderful service!!!

This was a program that interested me. I knew of the unusual registration process from the beginning. But it took me 13 comments reading the comments before I read anything useful. Thank you Messinger. Your comment was very informative for me. For those that are still crying about the Flex GIFAnimator, my advice to you is to get over it. That offer is done. That offer is gone. I doubt it will come back. And if it did come back, how many of you would want to download it? I don't think I would.. so just get over it and let it go. There is no need to compare this or any other offering to that. Flex GIFAnimator was a bogus offering from a bogus publisher. There is no need to label other publishers in the same manner. For me the registration process was simple and easy. As for the program itself I will have to use it more before I can tell but I am willing to try. Just don't let one bad apple (publisher) spoil your view of the Giveaway site and their offerings. Flex GIFAnimator was bad. No one will dispute that fact. But don't punish this publisher or any future publisher for something that had no part of. A similar registration process does not mean it will be similar results. That is just my thoughts and oppinion. Thank you so much to the GAOTD team. Your efforts are greatly appreciated by most of us. Thank you also to the publisher, Balesio.

I downloaded and registered with no problems but trying to make an album was limited as I used 250 photos and received an access violation code. Using 5 photos worked so somewhere along the line there must be a limit and I don't know where the cut off point is. I have uninstalled as a result of this.

Great idea BUT....

1) registration easy - okay
2) serial number on website immediately, no need to wait for email
3) fairly intuitive to add slides
4) instructions say NOTHING about where to store files for upload and how to change the html code to add the appropriate path. Just show [where to insert path]
5) "set background color" applies only to the color behind the slides which you cannot see if your slides are the size you set for the slide show or larger. For web page background color, you have to set that on your own.
6) Centering the slides is a left-right matter only. Not whole web page centering. So it will be right at the top pf the page unless you change the html to add a margin.
7) after reading the post about the person's trouble with music, I went back to modify my slide show by adding music. No instructions anywhere. Finally I re-noticed the audio icon on each slide. Every slide will have a new audio unless you tell it several slides. If you select them all and import music, the default setting in the dialogue box is still "this one slide only." Eventually that resolves.
8) Accepts ONLY wav files. Unfortunately, my GOOD music is MP3.
9) Added a dorky wav sound effect, regenerated the show and got an error message which has now disappeared, but the compiling is stopped on slide one.
10) The default slider control bar has a way too large reference to the manufacturer. To be expected if the software were always to be free, but I hate that. It so limits the uses for the slide show. Definitely cannot be used for viral marketing.
11) Choosing the other control box, which no one would imagine is in the upper right hand corner, unless you tell your viewers, produced bad results, too. Green menu bar in white box. Could not see controls.
12) White line under all my slides in finished web form.
13) Didn't see how to set some slides longer time than others.
14) Didn't find special transitions.
15) Captions? Didn't find any place to put them except in the slides. Maybe it's under double clicking the slides, but since the program stuck while compiling with sound effects, I had to crash close it.
16) Importing music caused enormous delays in the dialogue boxes. Not the importing, but just opening the box to say you're going to do it. Click, no response. If you click again, eventually you'll be zipped through several layers of folders. Reminded me of how having Camtasia open can sometimes cause other computer functions to act undependably or slow way down.

I thought I was going to really love this, but so far, after listing common expectations this program doesn't have, I don't think so.

It also can be used for software demos, hence the name. But after the deficiencies revealed in a simple website slide show, I doubt I'll try that.

As people have said, there is no need to panic to download this software. Registration is pretty simple. You can give them a temporary (not useful) email address is you are worried, but you will be able to get a registration key instantly after you hit the submit button (on their website and NOT on your email inbox). So please don't worry everyone and skip the download just out of fear of spam emails.

Secondly, I do agree with some people that this registration way is simpler and more efficient since if you had for example formatted your computer or something, you can still install a legitimate copy of the software because as the rule says, you can install it on only one computer (but probably more than once on the SAME computer you initially installed).

Have a great day everyone, and thanks GAOTD and Balesio for this software and for your hardwork! :)

Addendum. The Undo was using *Control-Z*. (GAOTD's text editor doesn't like the use of < in text.)

The program installed and registered without a problem on my WinXP (SP3) Home Ed. It seems to do what it says, but seems a very basic slide-show generator with limited capabilities and not all that easy to use. I.e., only wave files for background music, unable to loop the music for the length of the slideshow, etc., no 'Opening/Closing Credits' feature -- however they can be made with blank slides inserted at the beginnng and end of the slideshow, no choice in transitions between slides, (the list could go on).

In experimenting, I quickly discovered there was no UNDO button in edit, however I could undo some things using .

I liked the ability to change the size of the presentation, and noticed there was an option to 'stretch' individual slides to fit the presentation frame, but no option to 'select all' and apply modifications to all slides at one time. Likewise, change the display time of the slides, but not each slide individually (i.e., for the opening/closing slides). The Help Files didn't help all that much in doing what I wanted to do; but then, maybe it's just the limitation of the program -- I don't know.

Most likely, this program will gather dust while I use other programs with more 'flashy' features.

John

Installed and registered easily. This is a very basic program. The only sound you can add must be in .wav format, which would definitely stop me from purchasing it. I think most people have access to tons of mp3 music. I could only find one .wav file on my computer that was more than a few seconds long. The program runs smoothly enough and easily creates swf or exe files ... it just seems to be a bit out of date and featureless. Uninstalls perfectly.

Can't believe all the paranoia here! If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen!
Registration was a breeze, it was in my mailbox before I could get to check it.
Those of you that ask why we need so many convertors. The answer is, we don't but we do need convertors that suit and do what we need. If you want an 'ANALOGY' for those who aren't too bright! If all you want id a car to get from A to B, why do the car companies keep coming up with new cars? More Features! More Options! Better Gas mileage!
Its the same with software. There are always ways to improve it.
This program has by far the fastest conversion speed to FLASH, however when executing the .EXE, it just seems to chew up CPU cycles without actually doing anything!
If you want to make comments, make constructive not destructive criticism. BTW, yesterdays giveaway is reported on the developers website, as a BETA. Caveat Emptor! It crashed everytime I tried to use it on my Vista H P, but I did report it to the developer.
If you are looking for good, stable software, I suggest you go elsewhere. The reason these developers put their 'retail' product here, is to get feedback, they are not benefactors for those of you that want something for nothing. Nothing is ever FREE!!

Basic and easy if you just want speed, not frills. Easy registration and it can probably be registered any day once you have installed the first time and have the registration details. (I always make a pdf or a txt to save with the download.)
As for spam, AShampoo gets annoying (and blocked) but no other software vendors have caused a problem and I've been doing this for many years. Maybe that's why I don't cry and sulk like a spoilt brat. (Apologies to the adults.)
Yahoo does throw away addresses and Gmail and others probably do to. I find spam is ISP related. The bigger and more well known the ISP the bigger the spam problem. If spam is getting to you, use a throw away address (or several) AND a small ISP.

I agree with several peoples' comments about the registration for this one. I don't mind a web-based form from the company, but I would like to know, up front, that I will be required to fill one out to get the registration information.

Another thing about this manner of registration; There was a giveaway on here a short while back with the same sort of registration process that I NEVER have heard back from the company on. I filled out their form on their site as instructed and when done saw a comment on the page that there could be a short delay to respond with the registration information due to the amount of people registering... And that's all I've ever seen/heard from them...

I hope that this one works better than that one.

GAOTD is a great gimmick for those of us who are unsure what we really would like to buy for these kinds of applications. However, I think we all know "nothin aint worth nothin, but it's free".(Kris Kristoferson 1964)

Perhaps they should be more selective with the product they give us to try so there isn't so much duplication and aggravation.

My Final Verdict:
The program is very simple. This is its con and its pro at the same time. If you want lots of control, this is not what you want.
If you like it simple, this is great.
The slideshows you can make have a good quality (you can tune it a bit). You can export to .exe and .swf, but not to .scr wich would be nice. The program feels solid while handling it.
I would recomment it to everyone who doesn't have something like this, you will enjoy it.
I would also recomment it for those who want a quick result, you can do with this program.

This software installed well, and the registration was a snap (stop complaining, GOTD'ers!)

I created a slide show of 23 slides, added a wav file to play over several slides, saved as a flash, and then played it, and the slide show was nice BUT, the wav file (music) was all garbled.

Tried again with a different wav file, and same result, wav music was garbled.

Did others encounter similar problems with adding music (wav)?

If any GOTD'er resolved this issue, please enlighten. Otherwise, Turbo Demo Album is really worthless, with no capability to add music, and I will stick to my MSoft Photo Story 3, which has better functionality (but does not save as a Flash video).

Thanks....

I downloaded it (registration code appears on page right after) and played with it. It's a pretty hefty price tag that is normally charged for a program that's not too feature rich. But.. for free here, it's worth it. I can make simple .swfs for myspace now. :) For making tuts, I much prefer the Wondershare Demo Creator offering that was given away a couple weeks ago. I do like the rollover feature.. but I hate that they have their name all over the control panel. If I had paid full price ($200!)for this, that would have bothered me a lot.
But.. Nice offering for the price GAOTD offers it at. :)

#20 (and others concerned about spam): "Whenever you have to provide your email address, the result is usually an additional ton of spam." This hasn't been my experience.

Most of the dozens of software programs I've registered (both freeware and purchased) over the years have required at least an email address. I never give my "real" address, but use a disposable one - usually from mail-filter or mailnull. Both of these are free and work very well. Mail-filter is slightly easier to use because you can create addresses on the fly.

Creating a disposable address using a keyword that identifies the product I'm registering means that I will always know who gave away my address if I do receive spam. If that happens I can delete the relevant address which stops the spam from getting to me. So far, however, I've never once received spam as a result of registering software, so I can't understand why you've made the above statement.

Taking simple precautions (including always using disposable addresses) has kept my inboxes almost completely spam-free for the past five years.

Flex Gif Animator sounds like it was a special case - but if those of you who received spam had used a disposable email address you could have simply deleted the address and killed the spam.

you guys forget that this service is for the developers as well. I have found many of the software offers useful, and participating in forums on the developer site and giving active feedback have found that several of the companies do offer upgrades to you for helping out in testing. CodingFTP comes to mind as one that did that. What we do here is not just for us, but it helps the developers make better software as well....so if you use something and like it, or even if you don't, let the developers know why. For many this is a test bed for software we may not buy initially, but may have a market. They love your feedback.

Well I downloaded it,Installed it and had it fully licensed and registered in less than 8 (EIGHT) minutes without one problem Thank you very much GAOTD.
My suggestion to those of you that are critisising it without even giving it a go is to try it first before moaning about it.
They are freebies and as it has been said before you know where the delete button is if it is not what you want.
Your unwarrented comments without trying it might put off newbies or even some old hands that mght have otherwise have enjoyed the program or found it useful.
All that was requir.ed by the company for info to licence it was my last name, my email, city and country....you do not have to fill in the telephone # box .....No big deal guys....and within seconds I had my licence #'s
Thanks again GAOTD another winner in my book

Hi All,

Well. Downloaded OK and have experimented a little.

This is a VERY basic tool without much (or any) frills that I can find. Slide presentation is adequate but there doesn't appear to be any way of intruducing effects(none built in) for changing from slide to slide.

Sound can be added (WAV ONLY - NO JPG) but that is all. All pics have to be in the manner in which you wish them to be seen i.e. no rotate/resize Etc.

Ii have better free software for doing the same and more so I will play with it for a few more days and probably dump it.

Thanks for the offering GAOTD.

A very nice program. I installed and ran the program on a 1 GHZ 512 Meg computer running XP Pro. I created a 114 picture slideshow with no trouble. The interface is very intuitive. I then produced both a .SWF version and a stand-alone .EXE version and they both worked flawlessly. If you have need for such a program then this one is a definite two-thumbs-up.

Quite likeable the comments already on here stating "Use a fake Email address,Still get registration"
When GOTD is repeating screensavers or convertors, people are asked to perhaps support this site and the software companies giving the programs.
I don't see much support today with leechers preferring to put fake emails to get registration.

Nice work from Givaway team though I doubt you'll many more programs from this company when they come to mail registered users and get all the bounce backs from inconsiderate leechers!

Honestly, the program is junk. Yes, you can make slideshows, but the customability is very limited. You only get one transition, the web slideshow looks very unprofessional, etc. There are a lot of low cost programs out there that will give results a tenfold more professional.

If you try this and like the idea, I suggest you look around at the other programs that are out there.
