Somebody essentially lend a hand to make severely posts I would state. This is the first time I frequented your website page and up to now? I surprised with the analysis you made to create this actual post incredible. Great task!

I won a lifetime license, they said, but I really didn't! >>Then you won the Audials One Platinum v8 full version key that you can use for
a lifetime, but that did meant only Audials One v8 , the content did not include the upcoming versions. Best regards, Audials Support Team<<
False marketing!

Have to second what John G. said in comment #62. I'm very likely to uninstall this in the near future. Had I known about all this up front, I would have passed. Just hope there are no serious consequences from all the additions or changes to the system. I do use ERUNT, and should have thought of that beforehand.

Installed on Win7 x64 3.8/QUAD . Looks great, but runs in background even when program is exited, spins up the harddrive constantly (searching?) and pulls a lot of RAM. Most features disabled. Uninstalled.

It took a little bit of effort to figure out how to use. Now that I got the basics down, I friggin love this program.

They could give a little better instructions on the use and creating playlists, but that about all I find that needs some work.

Great program and thanks for making it available.

Its a pretty good piece of software. However the anoying part which I wish they would improve is the fact you have to keep installing little parts of the software in order to get it to work. I would prefer to have it take longer to download or install at the start rather than have to keep waiting for it to install bits later.

No way could I install. I spent most of the day trying. It disappeared in a flash near the start, then claimed to still be installing when I tried again. Reboot made no differance. Could not find the claimed installation in progress. What a mess.

I completely agree with #15 Dalmasian. In fact I've already talked about this issue right here.
I just want to re-affirm the following: I don't know about US law (or US states laws) but I think it's totally legitimate to make copies for private use. That applies to films, music, books, photos and so on.
In fact, as I said before, when you buy any of these cultural goods you are already paying, included in their final price, a fee that gives you the legal right to make backup copies, as long, of course, as you don't intend to profit from them. That's the way things are here in Portugal and, as far as I know, througout the European Union.
And, Dalmasian, in my opinion it is not the lawyers that are mostly to blame; the real question is the economic model - the big corporation-dominated economic model that lead to the 2008-2009 major finantial and social crisis (and to others before that).

Installed on my desktop with no problem and I'm enjoying the music that's coming out. Then I went to install it onto a USB stick using my netbook, and AVG detected a threat in the file "C:\Document and Settings\...\Local Settings\te,p\RarSFX0\TempSFX\usb\autorun.inf". This may be a false positive, but I'm not going to take that risk. It gave this "threat detected" error on two different sticks, so it's in the installation package, not on my sticks. I'll start over and install it onto the hard drive instead. So much for a USB install here...

Suggestions:

1) Ensure there is no malware in that package, and perhaps let AVG know if this is a false positive.

2) Button to show song being heard at present, to be used if user has been poking around other screens or organizing files... just a way to find out WHAT IS THIS SONG?

3) Allow scrollback and replay music that has just been recorded (while still continuing to record the stream, silently, as it comes in).

4) Enable feedback from the listener to the broadcaster (again, if possible). For example, some station called "Disco Ball" has nothing to do with disco music, and I'd like to suggest a better description.

5) Depending on the computer's setup, this may not be necessary, but it would be a good idea regardless: add a graphic equalizer (or even a parametric equalizer). You might also add the option to record the signal BEFORE or AFTER being equalized.

6) Please send me an email so that I'll have an address to which to send additional suggestions. Today I've been busy and have not been able to put as much time into trying out this program as I would have liked, but I can see that this software has a whole lot to offer

Oh, and I gave it a thumbs down. For a 79mb file, it sure as heck took a long time to install. I can only fear what changes it's made to my system and when I tear it out in a few days, I'll find out I guess. Process hog? AMD 64x2 Live w/6gb ram and WIN7 64bit. My machine isn't a slouch and it sure did seem to struggle with this install. That alone was my red flag. The rest is just fluff so I'll spare you the rest.

I believe if you make a Netflix button, even though it is easy enough to set it to record, but having a button with everything all set will attract a huge following. If you can also set the proper time to stop the recording based upon the length of the movie and enter the tags and maybe a cover picture, you would have an incredible app for the novice who will buy it just for Netflix and won't have any idea about any other feature. But they will love your product.

You are incorrect in stating that once something is public there is any implied legality.

This is NOT so under most countries laws. The US has huge lawsuits against offenders.

With streamed material it is essential to check the sites terms that a) you have permission to copy it and b) that it is not copyrighted material.

Provided --- you have permission to make a fair copy ---and---it is not in breach of copyright, you may make a copy for your ---own--- use.

Making further copies for friends and relatives does ---not--- come in
licensing terms usually, and is technically as illegal as selling copies.

If you make copies to give to friends and relatives, it is at your own risk. Prosecutions may be relatively rare, but they do happen.

If you sell copies there is a very good chance that someone will find out/report you. The penalties are severe, unless the material is copyright free --and-- the terms of downloading/streaming are legal and allow copying for distribution.

In practice, prosecutions for making copies for your own use of copyrighted material are mostly very rare, but again it would be entirely at your own risk.

Under United States' Federal law, making a backup copy of a DVD-Video or an audio CD by a consumer for their own use is legal under fair use protection. This is the case in many (though not all) countries including the UK.

Distributing copyright material via the Internet in any form or by any method including P2P is very strictly illegal. The many who do this are at risk of individual prosecution under copyright infringement laws. US citizens are at particular risk as US Courts are very much on the side of copyright holders and there is a culture of frequent lawsuits in the US.

I am not taking sides, just stating the strict legality, which copyright holders or their agents may enforce. I am fully aware of the (v large) number of people who disregard the laws on this but I am just pointing out what the actual laws are.

For quite a while I'm using "streamer radio", freeware, a plain little player, for listening at and recording my favourite stations. Unfortunataly at some stations some seconds of the beginning of the songs are missing when recorded, at others it works quite well.

Yikes! The "portable" version renamed my flash drive, auto-launches, and gave the drive a new icon. I had to rewrite the autorun.inf to get my simple settings back. I'll keep and try the install version. But, not portable enough for me to just add to my Lupo Pensuite drive menu (my favorite free portable app launcher and collection). I liked the installer options for deciding whether or not to look for existing media, update previous settings, etc.

I got error messages for playback of YouTube videos.
I uninstalled AudialsTV by cons, because none of the TV transmitters could connect.

I can not install the program on my Win7 32bit machine. The language turns into the German language. The WinRAR extract starts out in English, asks the first couple of common questions in English, then the actual extract turns into German. Even the WinRAR header is in German: "selbstentpackendes WinRAR Archiv" means "executable self extracting archive" in English. A message form WinRAR is "Kann C:\Users\pschuh\AppData\Local\Temp\we2CE39.tmp nicht öffnen". The install fails with a German word "Fehler", which is something liek "error" in English. Has anyone seen this problem before? I wish I knew the German language so I coiuld interpet the messages.

I downloaded Audials & it intalled in about 4 minutes on a windows xp quad core system. It's a pretty large file, I will say the file installs over a quarter of a GIG on my computer. For those that want the portable version it's in the download here, it gives you the option to install on USB or C: Program Files. For some reason I believe it will also download files on your desktop when installing to USB.

#24: "... What concerns me more is the 4.5MB (61 files in 21 folders) that are stored under... If this was used on someone elses PC is this going to write 4.5MB on their machine?..."

You should be concerned, but by a lot more than those 4.5 MB of files... I guess I'd put it this way: if someone added .NET 3.5, plus C++ runtimes, plus new drivers, plus that 4.5 MB to my PC, *All without asking*, I'd be concerned. If any of that caused me problems I'd frankly be closer to irate. Why? Because they should have asked about consequences the way that you are, or given me the choice & chance to scope it out on-line beforehand.

FWIW, what seems common courtesy has it's practical side too... Whenever you use something that belongs to someone else, there's a chance you'll be blamed for everything bad happening to whatever you borrowed till the end of time. While I've only seen that sort of thing a few times when it comes to something like tools, it's almost a natural law with laptops/PCs -- one of the reasons they sell so many T-Shirts saying No, I will not fix your computer.

#33: "Is the program ok for downloading to an Android?"

#41: "the program says its an evaluation edition and keeps asking for a license code. I know usually the code if found in the readme file supplied in the Download of the Day zip file, but that file does not contain a license code for this product. Where do we get the license code to activate the product?"

The setup file you downloaded includes a license key that's used during install -- check the Audials One preferences/options & it'll show you have a Std. license. FWIW I tried copy/pasting that number into the box for activation & [paraphrasing] it 1st showed successful & then showed not possible with this version... IOW if it shows that lic. key in preferences I guess that's as much as you'll get. If it doesn't show that, try running setup as admin?

Audials One 8 is a pretty nice package, but it's not without issues that'll make some people think twice if not pass it up entirely... RapidSolution Software IMHO really needs to have some sort of prominent edition or version info like Paragon, Roxio, Nero etc -- as others have noted, it's hard to know where today's GOTD is on the food chain. With it you can either save or record most media streams, including off-line, but the audio book recorder isn't included, & of the few output video formats supported, I get a notice that neither is Xvid avi. Audials One 8 will record a DVD as it plays on your PC/laptop, but this feature is not supported in XP, drops 7 out of Aero, has limited output formats, isn't the most intuitive for setting video output formats, & blacks out the rest of your screen so you can't do anything else during capture [not having access to the hidden taskbar is a drag, & since we're talking about SD [std] video frames, it isn't all that essential that recording that DVD is all you're permitted to do]. For those looking for a one-click solution, Audials One 8 is not it, & some may be bothered by the additional install routines you'll encounter when you click Internet & Screen Recording [1 each] -- you might also get a 3rd install for their Tunebite device, which allows faster than real-time audio dubbing [recording]. Installation is in a word: Complicated... In addition to the regular app install & the potential 3 device installations, Setup.exe includes .NET 3.5 & another of the Microsoft C++ Visual Studio 8 runtime setup files. RapidSolution Soft. does let you know that the USB version isn't portable in the help files & manuals [both are included for Audials One 8, Mediaraptor, Radiotracker, & Tunebite], but their statement is more than a bit under-stated -- think of it more as carrying a complete setup file on your USB stick/device. I would expect when removing Audials One that a new .NET version &/or C++ runtime would stay installed [if it chooses to add either/both], but I'd have hoped they'd remove the added drivers -- tested on a couple of VMs & my regular win7 ult 64 install, the Uninstall Drivers shortcut placed in the Start Menu didn't work, wouldn't run. If you choose the shortcut to uninstall the added USB components it doesn't remove them either, though it does remove all shortcuts, which BTW won't re-install if/when you start up Audials One USB again. And reading the help files I came across mention of compatibility problems, & it said you can find more info in their forums -- the one that surprised & bothered me the most was Logitech SetPoint.

At this point you might think I don't like Audials One 8 at all, but that's not so... It is a nice package. But you can find out all the good things from the RapidSolution Software web site, where as expected I didn't see any mention of that stuff in the first paragraph. I spent several hours with it this morning because I do like it. That said, I didn't see anything essential that was unique to Audial One -- Ashampoo Snap 4 lets me use codecs I already have installed [for formats like AVC] for screen capture, there have been several apps on GOTD to save streamed Flash video files, & apps for recording net radio are not rare... this just ties them together in a nice way.

As far as installation goes, my suggestion would be a backup &/or in 7 create a new restore point 1st, as the initial install recorded in a minimal XP Mode VM showed: 1107 files added, 2 files deleted, 24 files updated, 2080 registry entries added, 59 registry entries deleted, 42 registry entries updated. The Tunebite installation meant another 2k+ registry entries. With Audials One & options already installed, running the USB setup [just changes to the C: drive]: 177 files added, 2 files deleted, 18 files updated. 639 registry entries added, 233 registry entries deleted, 50 registry entries updated. Running the USB version of Audials One & adding optional components to a restored copy of the same VM [so the VM had never seen Audials before] I recorded: 264 files added, 10 files deleted, 57 files updated, 3146 registry entries added, 449 registry entries deleted, 65 registry entries updated. Those figures include the C++ but not the .NET install. Note that the docs say to install the USB version to a device formatted FAT32 -- backing up those installed files, restoring them to a NTFS stick everything seemed to work just fine. I didn't experience any problems from the added drivers, but, I didn't try everything, every app where a conflict or other problems might have occurred. FWIW & IMHO the safest way to remove drivers that don't come with an uninstall routine is to read how to restore a ERUNT registry backup (& make sure you can do that), make an ERUNT backup, then use Autoruns to disable the driver(s), then if Windows still starts, delete the actual file(s) after a re-boot -- if Windows doesn't start restore the ERUNT backup. Besides any drivers & the app's main folder, Audials One stores a lot of files under Username Local Application Data, including several log files should something not work or go wrong -- the docs/help tell you how to turn on even more thorough logging.

There is always a catch! I don't like this because alot of the features are disabled and it asks to buy the full version in order to enable the features. only basic features are enabled. Also the capture "Internet media recording" always fails to install the driver. I tried it 5 times and it always fails. The converter always give me an error "This edition does not support the given input file" for mp3s. WTF!Again alot of the features are disabled and it forces you to buy the full version. This is like an evaluation version. Sucks!

I went to the homepage of Audiodials (http://audials.com/). Wanted to see what the "upgrade" would offer. I was suprised to find that there is not a "standard" edition for sale nor a "premium" edition, just Audiodials One 8.

So this offer is for a dumbed down or lite version which isn't even available outside this offer. Anyone actually using the version they bought off the site shouldn't give their opinion of the software because we aren't using the same features. Like using MS Word and commenting on Notepad.

I installed on USB, but Audials decided I wanted an Icon on my desktop without asking. Since it was on USB I didn't get that, the assumption should be I would use it on various computers so a desktop Icon would be superflous. Not a big deal, but weird.

I use Portableapps.com which is a shell you can use to control multiple portable apps. Audials decided I need SIX icons in that menu. That is a problem, not huge, but it clogs up the menu, not all the icons launch the program, and it is a pain to try and manually test / delete appropriate icons.

So I try some features of this lite version. First "Search". Put in an artist and it come back with dozens of albums. But wait, I can't listen to any of the songs, the "record" button is greyed out, can't down load, and other features just say "not available without upgrade".

Next I try "Wish". It tells me its restricted in this version. Not great but okay, I can only get partial use in exchange for free, alright. I follow the direction, select and artist, search, pick some songs, and Wish. Next I try to "Fulfill", which would be to either find and play or download those songs. CAN'T DO ! That feature not available in this edition. Makes wishing completely useless. I could upload my library for others to use. Thanks but no thanks.

Next I try Capture. Right away it wants to download and install two unknown and unexplained "compenents". The "component" for screen recording then decides its okay to make changes to my desktop registry. WHAT? I installed on a thumb drive, why are you messing with my registry? What happens if I put the thumb into a different computer? I can't record from Internet media because I can't use the feature to get internet media so that is useless. The screen recording feature for recording video immediately causes an error with my Nvida software. I was just trying it out and not interested, but it concerns me that it created a conflict.

Podcast feature seemed to work okay, but there are tons of free Podcast players / recorders without 100 megs of extra features that are locked unless I upgrade, cause conflicts, or mess with my registry when I put them on thumb. Check out Juice or any of the others.

Converter - useless. The DRM stripper is not available without upgrade, Audiobooks feature not available without upgrade, and the DVD recorder is not available for Windows XP.

Internet Radio seemed okay, but at this point I was done. It may have issues, but even if it works, again, you can get a lightweight free app without all the extra crud, no mysterious registry installs, no constant reminders to upgrade.

Free is not worth it for this feature set. It's like a free car where the engine, wheels, seats, and doors are extra, but try out that trunk!

Hi again
I forgot to explain something:
I have Tunebebite 7 installed on my computer and it can find DRM protected files on my computer.
Since Audials One 8 is supposed to include the functionality of Tunebite, it should be able to find DRM ptotected files, but if you try it, you will receive a message that this feature is not available in this edition !!! a special for all of us !!!

Hi to all of you, my first comment in this community is:

This is a very bad move from Rapid Solution today: they made a special edition of Audials One 8 retrieving some functionality for this special giveaway.
This is not a good move because they ask us to evaluate a version that is not on the market, it is not the full version at 59.90 so what next from all of us and from the aministration of this site ???
Sometimes we have very nice programs for free but not today because it is not the full version !!!

Very cool program. Finally a possible replacement for WinAmp or iTunes when listening to internet radio. Don't get me wrong, I still use those apps for various things, however the interface and details on stations is more readily available here. Excellent! Going to try the USB install now.

I'd have to agree with #53, a gadget/toolbar/mini player option would be a nice addition.

Thanks!

@38, Goran: You say that when you "clicked to rate some posts, it boosted up the rate score for +2 even +3! If only one person rates a post, only +1 or -1 rate should be counted."

You should have checked the GOTD FAQ first! The reason why the votes sometimes update in that manner is that others are voting since you've last refreshed this page. When you submit you vote, the updated tally is shown for that post. Simple!

If you load this page at 11 o'clock and try voting at 6 o'clock, you likely will see many large changes.

Cheers.

Nice and easy to use, thanks GOTD.

Suggestions:
1. A copy & Paste option for a URL. One similar to TUBE CATCHER, which is also free, would be useful to target a specific recording.
2. A secondary search filter to focus on artist / Title. This will help remove all the karaoke wannabes while searching on utube.
3. Own audio jack & Speaker recording option. So it would be possible to record from one's own microphone & speakers for recording a SKYPE call or something similar.

It should also be noted that the vendor statement 'Today the Developer is going to reward 3 best improvement suggestions with a lifetime license for Audials One 8 Platinum.' is also invalid as a visit to their website shop reveals no such product as Audials One 8 Platinum, only this supposed free download at £59.90.

Whatever is being offered here is not the product advertised as far as I can see and if so, should be removed.

The program installed OK and required no registration.

I carried out a search for audio files, selected one and attempted to record it.

I was then shown a pop-up box that read 'This Edition only allows for unlimited and free music video downloads'

The blurb at the top of this screen reads 'Find, record, download, convert and enjoy MUSIC, films, videos and Internet radio Audials'

It is not as advertised as far as I can see and therefore cannot be recommended.

GAOTD/RapidSolution - Can you please comment on the activation issue? Loving the software so far, but would like to evaluate the more advanced features. Thanks!

Love the program!

Suggestion: Be able to minimize it to a gadget (for video), or a toolbar with a drop down menu (with favorites) for easy access and playback for radio, with available sizes and placement on the computer desktop. Skinning would be a plus after that.

You should make windows gadget for this software :) controlling some operations like rec and so on . Also program should have hide to tray option .It will be very comfortable to make program run in background with control option from desk by gadget .Its also great opportunity for skinners ,that will make more customization and more users for sure :)

Interesting app. Searched for, found and recorded a few music videos and it worked fine.

The Help button in the install window didn't work, and it couldn't find the LAME MP3 encoder on my system. It didn't take over any file associations or install itself in the startup list. It's a bit of a heavyweight program that's slow, but that's probably mostly due to it using .NET 3.5. Tends to operate slowly on an older WinXP computer, and it has hung and needed termination a few times (e.g., when it doesn't find what it's searching for).

All of the default TV stations (and the ones I added) in the TV app show "No connection", so either they are rarely available or that part of the program doesn't work.

I have had the previous version(Audials 4 Platinum) for many years and find it a super Programme to use, well worth paying for.

Like many other types software it needs using to understand it and I must admit does not find and record everything, but that is what the "wishlist" is for, if it get played anywhere on the internet it will copy it.

The "Youtube" recorder in my opinion is not the best but if using Firefox use the add-on " Downthemall", works for me
