#60's comment about Smart Type Assistant not being free. It isn't free, but there is a free trial period. It is a fine program for anybody who does a significant amount of typing or who is bad speller. It's just one of our products. It represents less than 1% of our sales, but it is a very overlooked product.
I don't mean to be posting a commercial, but #60 might want to take a look at www.newkeylogger.com to see just what the program does and how it is licensed. I don't think that Giveaway Of The Day posted the program maliciously, they just didn't make it crystal clear that this product has a trial period, after which it won't function anymore without an activation key. It is very inexpensive.

Tested the program with my first set of springtime pics... I was pleased with the features and the tools available... especially the memory of user presets for various photo corrections, making the correction of a "set" of photos simple and consistent.. I also use ALL of the freeware photo programs and Photoshop, etc... Though a wonderful program, using Photoshop is like driving an elephant by sitting backwards and pulling on its tail.. it has become a behemoth.. as have other photo programs.. simplicity is ease of use are good with this one.

Much of excellent caractéristics : CRW, paper saving print, not to intrusive in the pc ((;-) picasa), and all the function we need to manage photo.
With two possibilities more, it'd be the best : a respect of the original file (renaming the original or give a new name to the corrected image) and a direct acces to the album and the diaporama associated.

Typical - for weeks try to download and usually it never
completes (stalls) or have to try several time before a
non corrupt file actually downloads.
This time, big file of course, 9 try's from 5 PM and
never got a good download. Finally a good one
made it but it was 3 AM and of course as before....TOO
LATE to even give it a try. Bad part is that of all
the GIveaways, this one might have been useful
but will never know....OH WELL so much for FREE
STUFF. My time is worth more than spending
the evening trying to get a good copy.
NO, it's not the DSL or Puter....

To Roz #60, Smart Type Assistant works fine, did it work yesterday and not today? Have you used it since the day it was offered without problems? I didn't open the page on your signature either.

To #93 BillW50, Yes, IObit's Windowcare profesional works for me too, the problem is that the database of spyware is from 2/21 and if I try to get a newer version it says my subscription license has expired.

Strangely enough the License information claims that the User Account is 'giveawayoftheday', and the expiration date just shows a '-' sign. My program version is 2.4.0.795, the same one that I dowloaded and everything else works fine.

Those new to photo manipulation would be able to develop some skill with this program, so I think I will save it for the grandkids' use; however, losing many of the features after a few weeks will undoubtedly lead to its removal.

Thanks Zoner and Giveaway teams for a nice little training program. For my work, I'll stick to ULead's Photo Impact Pro and Photoshop.

While I, too, use Picasa + CS2, I find this software useful for the GPS editing availability. I don't have to open up Google Earth (which can be a PITA if I've already got Firefox + x number of tabs, Picasa & CS2 running).

For that alone, I'm grateful for this product. I still haven't gotten use to the usage yet, but just the fact that I can quickly and easily access GPS data makes this a positive download for me.

Regarding comment #60 by Roz Fruchtman, I've checked my smart type assistent and it's working perfectly. I've not had any screen come up to say it's not registered. Maybe you didn't register it correctly. I noticed you used this comments section to advertise your commercial web site. Yes I did check it out, but am not oing to make any more comments about it as it's not the place to do so. I'll make my own Ecards, thanks anyway. :)

To kako(#4) and Rosa(#80): Pay no mind to kids like Johan(#5), Sulmonster(#18), and Mark(#27). These are the same guys who stuff a pair of gym socks down the front of their pants to present an appearance of "manliness" to the world. Having a spacious hard drive doesn't make one computer-savvy.
I've downloaded a lot of software from this site because they've had some outstanding giveaways. Today's, however, is something I just don't want or need. Just because 55 MB wouldn't cripple my system, doesn't mean I want to collect the extra unnecessary files, folders, icons and registry entries just because they're free.
Whether it's 55 MB or 0.55 MB, people who download everything they come across just because 'it's free and it fits' are the lamest kind of noobs. Their huge, bulging hard drive is undoubtedly compensation for other areas in which they're sorely lacking.
You good folks at GOTD, as always, rule!

And I, as always, remain,

OMG! It's like Santa Santa came to my house! Another day of gifts from GOTD! You ought to call this site "KrisKringle.com" lol. I'm gonna come back EVERY DAY and give a review of the software. I hear the cheers... don't worry... I hear them.

I'm a photographer in my spare time between lectures at the university and speaking on the campaign trail for 2008. I just got back from a shoot in Paris and have LOADS of photos to go through. This program will only make it easier. I have photos of the Eiffel tower, The Louvre, tons of paintings, little shops around the city and of course pictures of the French President Chirac.

I've already developed a new procedure for swapping photos all over the place on my computer. I call it the "2-Sheds photo swapping procedure for the enlightened savants of our time". I'm not going to spam up the forums with the procedure itself; but my mind has been opened to all kinds of new ideas since I've been coming to this site.

I can't believe how easy it is to use this software. It looks awesome too.

Thx GOTD and devs. GREAT software! Keep up the good work!

You guys Rock! WOOT! Yea Baby, YEA!

I was hoping this would help me better organize the files for my avatar site http://www.avatars.cc (I currently have more than 3000 avatars uploaded). The software looks nice, but like others, I think I will stick with freeware programs.

By the way, the title says "xpress" but in the description above, it says "With Zoner Photo Studio 9 Professional you get an all-in-one photos program for every", so that may be why there is confusion. (Hope this wasn't mentioned already).

Don't bother with this crippled freebie. It's a bait and there's no need to say thanks for it either.

Use Picasa for managing photos and light editing, and for serious editing use either Paint.NET or Gimp.

Well the link to their order page as pasted in post #73 didn't work, too long I guess. Try this link: http://www.zoner.com/photo-studio

From there click on "Order", third choice in the orange bar at the top right under Zoner's logo. The order page shows concisely the differences between Pro and XPress.

Not worth the download, freeware apps do the same or far better. Zoner's own descriptions don't match the version they are offering on GOTD. They say "Have you ever bought photo software and found it is missing something? With Zoner Photo Studio 9, this will never happen." But that only applies to the Pro version as detailed at their buy page located at https://store6.esellerate.net/st0re/(igecuo55ztecz22btdd2wu45)/checkout/CustomLayout.aspx?s=STR6572562615&pc=&page=OnePageCatalog.htm

The same page says this about the XPress version, the one offered here: "Zoner Photo Studio 9 Xpress is a low priced version of Zoner Photo Studio that is aimed for less advanced users but offer enough functions to manage or publish your digital photographs."

Three of the six screen shots on this page also represent features available only in the Pro version which again is not the one Zoner is offering here, except as a 60 day trial. Free unlimited usage is only for XPress version which isn't worth Zoner's normal asking price of $14.95. If you want to keep the Pro version after the 60 day trial then it will cost you $84.95

You get only XPress version for free, Pro version will stop working after 60 days. Differences between versions can be found here: http://www.zoner.com/photo-studio/compare-versions.htm

I have downloaded this "Express version" wow what a waste!!!

I have Picasa (also FREE and better)and Photoshop HOWEVER

I USE STUDIOLINE PHOTO BASIC more than Photoshop because it is much faster and can do everything most of us need. This program is FREE and definitely worth the download.

I don't know if this will turn into a link but here it is------>

I think I'll stick with the free trial of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. The product available today isn't worthy to be a GotD and hopefully we'll be able to find something intuitive and necessary for us to use as in the last few days it wasn't all that great even though I do admire what you guys were doing for the online community.

Keep up the good work and I pray that you'll be able to find a far better software to give away than the crap offered today.

"Don't look a gift horse into the mouth". (Arrgg...)
Because the horse could suddenly CLOSE its mouth without much interest to soon open it again! Hear it chuckle about a fool feeling bound to be grateful for a gift the value of which he doesn't know at all?

We ought to be grateful!? ZONER Inc. seemingly know how to profit from it. Remember IObit's Advanced WindowsCare Professional (2/26)? Now you've got what you DESERVE, yes-men.

Seemed decent, great for rookies, didn't like the 60 day thing. I will stick with PhotoFiltre (also free) or Picasa. I don't do a lot of photo stuff so this may not be a fair judgment. If I did do a lot of Photo or image things would invest in Photo Shop.
Installed but will now uninstall, at least it didn't cost me 15 bucks to check it out.

I tried to post this in the Blog, but after three times I can't get registered. It says I registered successfully, but no password arrives. It is NOT blocked, it is just not arriving.

So here goes.

I downloaded Smart Type Assistant from GiveAwayOfTheDay on February 18, 2007. I installed it what I thought was successfully.

Today (3/16/2007) the program is asking me for an activation number and says it is a trial and that I have to pay for it if I want to use it.

I called the company Blazing Tools Software and spoke to Jack. He did not give me his last name.

The phone number I called was:
1-727-369-0716.

The website is:
http://www.blazingtools.com/

Jack told me that GiveAwayOfTheDay did not have the rights to give this software away. I find this odd and hard to believe, but he told me I was the second person who called this week.

Now what?

How can this happen. I would not think that GiveAwayOfTheDay would do such a thing. Could you have spoken to someone else at Blazing Tools Software who gave you/GiveAwayOfTheDay permission to distribute their software?

Please advise as it does not look good.

Thanks.
