It was installed without a problem, and the website access wasn't a problem either. Perhaps a computer's Web browsing security settings are causing the problem for those who can't access the website.

This software gabbles up your resources like no other software I have installed. I just wonder, why it take 100% of the CPU power and very little of the extended memory I have (64GB) but it uses only 4GB for download buffering. Needs more improvement to be useful and efficient as a downloader.

Why is it that "thumbs up" appear in the count immediately but somehow "thumbs down" are always ignored by GAOTD . . . resulting in a RIGGED vote?!

EuroTrader,

I've always wondered (and questioned) this myself. Unfortunately, I have never received, or seen, a response as to why it is. I've wondered if it had something to do with the "WHY" question that is asked. If the reason isn't good enough, perhaps it never gets counted? Only speculation, but with nobody providing a clear answer (or any answer for that matter), one must assume that is the case...

Will not give me access to install on my PC. Message "A required privelege is not held by client."

Any suggestions?

IDH, it means you have to give yt-saver full access of your computer to operate properly. In other words, they want to be owners of the download privilege, not you.

Cant even open up their website, both browsers i use and TotalAV class it as a "Low Trust Website". Some will say disable, well i stick to my guns and trust my AV and browser prompts!

I've used Applian Video Capture suite for over 3 years now and still say its one of the best out there for the price (cheaper) and no license renewals to worry about.

So here is my concerns about registering an email address in this program and setting up an account with the developer. Say law enforcement wants to know if a user is bootlegging movies, all they have to do is to subpoena the developer and get all the registrations of everyone using the program and then simply go through the list. At $250,000 per movie and song, they can make a fortune.

Gosh, Off to the Pokey, 'bootlegging' means redistributing - this software does not redistribute anything.

I was able to install and register, I also tried to download a 4K video and can confirm it worked, here are some tips that may help others:
1-Read the readme.txt, you have to use a specific email and not yours to register the product
2-if you are using windows virus & threat protection you need to allow at least 3 actions (YT Saver.exe, itubego-dl.exe and ffmpeg.exe) so be sure to allow them when prompted or download will fail.
Pro: Compared to "Youtube 4K downloader" from ScorpioX it works better so I am switching to this one.
Cons: You can't choose the resolution for each download but you can choose the resolution for all downloads.
Overall: thumbs up, thanks for the freebie.

Fernandez Ferraioli, a legit software should not need to be exempted through the firewall, what happens when those and others .exe files are allowed to communicate in the background without our knowledge, well, I think the source of the software has full control of our PC and there can be a window of opportunity to hack our other files and docs or download or upload anything without our approval.

Gosh, Mike, anti-malware programs block anything for any reason, including they have not seen it before, and if it is not signed, not necessarily because something is malware, so we all just upload to free VirusTotal and get a second opinion, actually 60+ second opinions.

I downloaded, installed, went to the website it says to go to and entered my email address, and just like that it gave me my registration info. I opened the program, entered the info it gave me, and Wa-Lah!! It worked!!! I even downloaded a YouTube video to test it and, it worked. Not sure why the first comment said it didn't work for them. Who knows? I already have a couple programs that do this already, so I am sure I won't need this but it's always good to have a back-up plan.

Reply   |   Comment by E_Mon_E  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

E_Mon_E, by the way.. I usually disable Malwarebytes before I install GiveAwayoftheDay stuff. Back in the day, it never "liked" the wrappers included with these giveaways. Not sure if that is still the case, as I got into the habit of always disabling it and re-enabling it after the install.

Reply   |   Comment by E_Mon_E  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-7)

Thanks, E_Mon_E, I disable Malwarebytes, too, permanently - like Norton and MacAfee, and even Microsoft's own anti-malware, I routinely am asked to service infected computers, and yet, there are these anti-malware programs sitting there doing nothing to actually prevent the infection I then have to clean.

Alternatively, I suggest savvy browsing, and always check at free VirusTotal before executing any downloads, then, before running, check the resulting installed executables at free VirusTotal, too.

Free VirusTotal is a second opinion, I have to decide myself, my current PC has 4 hits at VirusTotal, but I kind of have to trust Intel and HP if I want to run the computer at all! ;-)

Thanks, GOTD, for letting us explore this and share.

In response to "Peter Blaise, WTF are you babbling about?!?!?" ...

... aside from re-reading my post, I'm saying:
- anti-virus programs are overzealous, call good stuff bad,
- anti-virus programs miss bad stuff,
- so, we need to be smart by:
- - browsing savvily
- - uploading new stuff to free [ VirusTotal. com ]
- - - make our own decisions, for example, HP and Dell drives may have hits at VirusTotal, so I have to make my own decision to run them or not.

Go to free [ VirusTotal. com ] and check it out, if you have not been there before.

And be prepared to clean up our computers even if we think we have a working anti-virus running - they are all compromises.

Thanks, GOTD, for letting us explore this and share.

All video downloaders that I have seen on GOTD have been very poor in comparison to Ant Download Manager.

This one looks to bridge the gap between the worst and best.

It has an element of browser integration in having the ability to have websites displayed within the program interface, although you lose all functionality with regards to browser extensions that you might ordinarily use. But you can, with a single click of a video, invoke the downloading process.

You can choose a variety of resolutions to convert to (as long as the resolution is supported on Youtube), although if you wish t change it, you have to do it within the main interface. There is no on the fly option.

It also offers a variety of formats and codecs, including HEVC(H265), which ANT doesn't.

It also states that 10000+ sites are supported and although there is a pretty good list of supported sites in their website, it doesn't look like being close to 1000 to me. But still a potentially useful checklist.

Supports both Windows and MAC, which will be good for some.

But then we come to the problems, firstly the minor marketing ones.

The price on GOTD is shown as $59.95, which would be crazy for a one trick pony.
But on the actual website, a lifetime price is $29.95.
So some will be put off before they even try.

The website also shows a list of some of the supported sites but decides to proudly show 3 porn sites, which is not the greatest marketing if your goal is to entice all people to purchase.

But the greatest problem is the most fundamental.

Whilst download speeds are initially good, I consistently found that it would get so far and then appear to stop, despite showing a fast download speed and show an ever changing countdown time. Sometimes it would complete but only after an unreasonable wait and other times it is just not worth it, so I kept having to cancel.

I tested out dozens and none would complete efficiently and only about 25% would do so after a reasonable wait.

Testing the same URL's using ANT suffered no issues at all.

So whilst some features have advanced, when the key functionality is fundamentally flawed, then sadly, it is just not going to get many sales.

I also found that over the hour of testing, whilst in use, general PC performance would be affected far more than I would expect and even after closing down the program, more general lag was present, requiring a reboot to correct.

Bill Freeman, I agree that Ant Download Manager is probably the best free program that I use constantly from this website, and I've received two updated keys from Giveawayoftheday so if anyone sees that program offered, make sure to pick that one up.

It doesn't allow you to download from ALL websites, but many of them it does. Very handy if you like to download video files or audio files.

Reply   |   Comment by C A  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Bill Freeman,

While I can't say this with 100% certainty, most likely what you were experiencing was the conversion process. If you select a video format, audio format, and/or container type that is different than what the website hosts, the software would have to convert to your desired final output. This conversion process is very time consuming and processor intensive. It's not so bad if it's just the audio that needs to be converted, but if the video also needs to be you can expect this to take a very long time, especially if the video is fairly long. It will of course also vary by the type of each you choose to convert to as well.

Reply   |   Comment by FeMaster  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

FeMaster, I did test a few different options, including those that matched the media information for the downloaded video and repeated the same process in ANT, with no issues.

If you could adopt GPU accelarated processing for all 3 main manufacturers (AMD, NVIDIA, Intel (Quicksync) then this would likely assist a great deal.

Made 3 attempts to register, completely uninstalling between attempts. Error code when attempting registration. Message to check code and try again. I copied and pasted your code from 'read me', making sure I copied code for windows machine. Tried a 4th time using the exe file listed in read me file. Goes to your site, downloaded from there and attempted to register again. Same results. Unable to register. Uninstalled with Revo uninstaller. Very disappointing.
