Update to Comment #60, above: the WSHelper files are proving difficult to kill, being locked. I'm going to see if Unlocker or FileAssasin can get rid of them.

Regarding posted comment #8 above, which concerned me because I have a few of the Wondershare products installed on different computers: I am now searching for confirmation on this. "Phone Home" behavior is a major No-No on the part of software, in my book. I've just looked on a laptop where I installed their PDF Editor recently, but no *immediate* evidence of the WSHelper files. In the latter of the two locations Chris cited (under \Users\Username\Appdata\Local ) I do see a WSHelper folder under \Wondershare, but both folders are completely empty. I next did a file search that turned up nothing, but you really should know that the built-in Windows Search facility has had serious limitations for a rather long time. Instead, using the superb old-school file manager ZTree to perform the search, I found a bunch of these WSHelper components distributed to various places, like \System32 and \SysWow64 folders, and others many levels deep. I'm going to pull this crap out by the roots, and if it causes the associated Wondershare programs to become crippled, I'll just uninstall them. Nothing I need all that desperately, and I detest stealth "tattletale" components we never signed on for. Then it will be time to search the other computers for more of the same. (When I delete stuff with ZTree, it doesn't go to the Recycle Bin either; it is GONE !)

I re-downloaded 4 times, plus tried the link in the E-Mail & registration site multiple times, tried downloading to 2 different HDDs & even to a flash drive, I always get "Runtime Error (at 138:517): The source file is corrupted."
It then continues & says "C:\Program Files(x86)\Wondershare\Video Editor\Transitions\Merge\Happy Heart.mov" An error occurred while trying to copy a file: The source file is corrupted.
If I [Ignore] it goes to
"C:\Program Files(x86)\Wondershare\Video Editor\Transitions\Thumbnail26C7967-00C0-4a05-A27A-E8D3372C06E7.bpm
& 50 others with similar names then goes on to others in Masks.
I have installed as 2 different Administrators & nothing seems to work.

#17 I searched for *Helper.* and didn't find any yet. In Wondershare folder I see:

WSResDownloader.exe

Should these be deleted?

How can we tell when any program is sending info from PC online? I'm concerned about this for all programs.

I have tried to install it six times -- and every time there is a problem!

The last time it said the Wondershare DOWNLOADER was not working -- and probably the other times too.

All I know is that it REGISTERS okay -- but it will never work.

Uninstalled via Revo -- I would like a fairly simple video editor, but I can't afford to waste any more time on this one.

Windows 7, i7, 64 bit - no problems installing over the previous version. This version is peppy and works a lot more smoothly than the previous version. This is a fun little program with lots of bells and whistles that young people will like using. All the old standbys are still there. This is the perfect video editor for people who want to move up from Movie Maker without getting into the complicated, expensive programs.

I downloaded Mac version.
Went to the page needed to request activation code (instructions were provided in downloaded Zip). The form does not accept my personal email on my own domain. Why?
(Used instead my ancient address at Hotmail. Received the code in email quickly.)

Downloaded & installed on windows8.1.
BUT! again registration difficulties. No response for registration code at http://www.wondershare.com/video-editing-tips/ & only a few hours left to register.
Anyone got any solutions???

WARNING: I can't prove it yet, but I think this program deleted nearly all my files from my E: partition (I keep my data here). All I did was look at the program options and set the two user directories to e:\

I have run check disk and found no errors on the drive.
I have checked the recycle bin and most of that is gone too.
Nothing else had been done on my computer after testing the above program! :-(

Ok, another this morning until now, still stuck at installer downloader 0%, after countless try, I give up.

I do a total windows restore before each try.

Maybe a full installer download link would be nice.

For now, I'll skip this offer. I even tested with antivirus totally disable but still no luck.

I have several Wondershare products and love them, although I have never used any of their video software before.

This product's description says, "Weave amazing movies with ANY format video, audio and photos;... EDIT video/audio/photos with classic features like trim, split, crop;"

I'm probably going to download this anyway because of my satisfaction with Wondershare, but does anyone know if this product can edit .tb files? So far I haven't found any software anywhere that can (and I'm open to any suggestions). Or does anyone know of any software that will convert .tb files into something this Wondershare software can work with?

There is most definitely something at least a bit wrong with Wondershare's email system. I have attempted to get an email about a dozen times, all unsuccessfully. In the end, I organised it so that if an email ever did arrive, first of all I would be able to spot it as it arrived in my email host server, and secondly (assuming that it was addressed from wondershare) it would be nailed in the Inbox, without a possibility of being sent off to SPAM or elsewhere.

So, what happens is: (1) I enter my details and press the 'Get License' button; (2) A dialog box comes up after a couple of moments to say the email has been sent; then (3) absolutely nothing.


I can only assume that the Get-License page is having a really bad-hair day!

Thank you to Chris, currently @ #8, for the heads-up regarding a sneaky installation of unwanted adware by Wondershare or by their multiple aliases. In light of that, as well as taking into account very timely and useful observations made by Lenny, currently at #13, I am not going to install today's giveaway, nor am I going to install any future offers from this developer.

Just installed Wondershare Video Editor 3.6.0 and had no problems with installation. Didn't lose any files as stated by #25. The colour scheme is a bit off for older eyes, not being adjustable is a let down but not a major issue. Registration took all of 5 mins from entering details to receiving email (and yes it went straight to SPAM folder). I have used their products before and have never had issues. Have had the Video Editor installed on my previous laptop and it was a pleasure to use.

Was very excited to see a Wondershare product as the GAOTD today.
No hesitation in trying this product with it's already great reputation.

Installation and registration both went very well. Took me about 2 min.

After testing this software it crushes the editor I have been using.
Extremely impressed.

Many download sites (cnet, softpedia, etc.) have been doing this for a while now. A detestable practice; not only can you not scan the file(s) before installing, you have no file to backup for reinstallation. I do not accept software this way. Usually a bit of snooping will find a download of the actual software, not a downloader/installer.

(I would trust such a download from this site, but still not be happy about it.)

Good program. Helped me a lot for video processing purposes. Installed and working perfectley.

Downloaded and installed fine.Filed in the e-mail on their site and received the reg code in my spam folder.Reg.the product. It seems to be the same as a previous editor by a different company.I too would hope that a Camtasia Studio come available here as I believe it is the best for what I need.

Can someone please tell me how to Register this software?

This is turning into a devil to install.. Downloaded.. haven't received the registration code in hours..have to use task manager to get rid of the registration screen.. unfortunately now they have my email address.

I have duel monitors and the program is loading to the right and half off the screen. I'm not happy and will have to use a uninstall program to get rid of this. I give up! But not on GOTD, check it every day, and has allowed me to try out some super software.

I already alot of times, the install downloader freeze at 0% all the time. I'll give it another try tomorrow morning.

Most of our home video is recorded with a hand-held cam which often results in a shaky picture. Does today's giveaway include a "stabilizer" or "un-shake" feature?

I downloaded it and clicked Setup.exe. At 69% of loading, a message "Unable to download"
I tried several times, with the same result.
Perhaps I'll use some other software for Video Editing in future.

I, too, would like to see Camtasia as a giveaway issue. Downloaded Wondershare, but, I'm not going to install the software.

Your virus scanner should still perform it's intended function as the file being downloaded during the setup process still has to be saved as a (temp) file on your local PC before it can be read. The setup process must wait for the file to be downloaded and saved before it can open it and process it. All of this is hidden from view within the setup.exec.
It's just a different way to do it.

Same issue with registration as 'Jorge' (Comment #16).

Typing exact registration data results in error message.

What should I do?

I consider Wondershare software products to be completely trustworthy. I have both their Video Converter Ultimate and Editor installed and both work just fine.

@ #25 Really? Installing their Video Editor wiped out half of the files on your hard disk? I find that to be a total falsehood. I would say your computer has some other issues, if this were the case.

Concerning the new UI for their Editor, I find it hard to read, with my bad eyes. Other than than that, I love all that this editor provides.

It can even not open the MTS of GH2.
So what can it do for me？

I downloaded this program today on my MacBook and notice some key features missing, like P-I-P & Scene Detection which was the reason for me wanting to DL this software. I tried pressing the "Download More" button in the Effects tab, but when I did it told me "Download failed. Please check your Internet connection and try again later." Which is BS because my internet connection is fine (hence, how I'm writing this review).
Upon further investigation, I found out that the PC version has more features such as P-I-P, Scene Detection, Change Speed and Audio Separation, while the Mac version does not. But the Mac version has at least 10 more filter effects than the PC one has.
So my recommendation to Wondershare is, to have the same features for both PC &Mac.

I would like to try the program but the downloader will not connect After four try's, I give up. I detest specific program downloaders.

BTW, if you installed the previous version 3.5, the release notes for the 3.6 update say:
"What's new in version 3.6.0:
1.Increased the stability of the program;

This is the same program that was given away in January as "Aimersoft Video Editor" version 3.5. That older program is now offering an update to version 3.6, presumably the same version as today's Giveaway. I wonder what the relationship is between these Chinese companies that sell nearly identical products under several different names?

In any case, I found that the previous version is an adequate light video editor, not very sophisticated, but you can do some basic tasks with it for the most common video file types. It's a bit weak on transition effects and audio track management.

Nice program today! This program does a little more than Microsoft's Movie Maker, however if you want to keep todays free program you must follow these steps: First open the program after registration process then click on the round ball in the upper left hand corner, go to settings and under settings go to update or upgrade automatic and change this to never update as Gaotd don't do updates and upgrades as well as support. follow that and you will keep this nice app. Enjoy!!!!

It is a lovely software that I am finding for to help me to do my video editing projects. There are lots of awesome features that I needed which is not available in other video editors which I have used last time.

Why insist on wondershare\video etc. Why not allow us to put it where we want. I detest programs that use another set of folders

Installed and registered OK. Had to use Task Manager to get program to close. Interface also vague.

Downloaded, installed, went to the web page indicated to install, got the code by e-mail, code gives error, uninstalled... That's All Folks. I don't have time to waste.

I bought the full license at the previous giveaway, so I can skip this now. It's not something like Pinnacle or similar editors, it's just a simple tool for stitching a bunch of videos together with some effects - but it does that very well. The interface is quite intuitive and easy to use. The only thing I don't like from this point of view is that it's not possible to change the color of the interface, because I'd prefer black or dark blue.

BTW I would really appreciate a giveaway of the new Camtasia Studio.

This is a pretty good program, easy to use, and exports the video in good quality. Just wanted to save some of you time, do NOT download this if you downloaded the Aimersoft Video Editor which was offered recently, as it is the same exact program, with the same interface, same everything. I was excited for another video editor, but then disappointed as it was exactly the same program. Not sure if the two companies are related or not, but strange how it is identical. So, save yourself time if you have the other program.

This seems like a decent program & I've only tried it with one video so far but it came out a little choppy even after changing the FPS. I'll keep messing around with it some more but if they all come out like that I'll be very disappointed.
