I did not realize that I had to activate the program twice to get the registration information submitted for this program... I guess I should start checking to make sure my programs are really successfully activated before the giveaway period ends. :(

Though I wish that GAOTD would let those in a similar situation go back and activate the program now, I completely understand why they can't. Oh well.

I downloaded this program but have not been able to utilize it to its fully. Upon loading the program ask me to register but I have no licensing information to enter. When I develop a photo story I get a watermark across the photo's stating "Evaluation Copy". Why can't I access the full program?

why does this need a registration cade and email?

Again I will say this program is ok for one that just wants to put a bunck of pictures together and do it in a hurry. It will look like that as well. As a high quality look when finished I would say that is far from what we get. there are far better out there. You most likely have a better program to do this and do not know it.

very good program for simple slide shows

Awhile back, GAOTD offered Wondershare Photo Story. It worked great and used SWF as output but the audio failed to work. I kept using it as my number 1 conversion tool cause SWF came out better than any format available. I was glad to see Photo Story Gold offered and downloaded in a hurry. After a test run, I concluded the following:

1) Program worked 100% without bugs;
2) Although various format offered but no SWF output which was disappointing. Current formats not can't match the quality outut of SWF;
3) Audio did not have a time setting. As a result, audio continues although video comes to end.

Of course, because of the negativity of my last two posts, most likely no-one would get to read them. I guess that's the American way, these days.

I run two programs when my computer starts up. After the initial startup, I ran these programs consecutively after removing Photo Gallery Gold. The following is the result of the two scans. All Items not listed were zero.

Registry Fix:
ActiveX/Classes Section: 3 items removed
Registry Scan: 56 items removed

Registry Mechanic (PC Tools):
Software Locations: 3 items removed

What I resent is the time and hassle of having to re-install the programs with the working codecs that this package clobbered. That includes Video Wave and Home Movies Made Easy, until I find something else that doesn't work. Until then, I have to delete the file this Wondershare program produced as nothing I have on my computer other than Wondershare and Windows Media Player will recognize. As such, I can't burn it to DVD even though it's an mpeg2 file. Pity.

It showed much promise to start with. I trust an 'F' still stands for FAILURE.

I love the Wondershare Photo Story & was eagerly wanting to try this version. I downloaded & did the Activate & Setup. When finished, the program failed to launch. Saw a comment that remove & reinstall would work. I did that. The 'Remove a program' take away the program. However, the reinstall failed to work with message the 'delete failed - access denigned'. The 'Remove a program' show no program, but explorer show the complete Gold package. I tried deleting but access denigned.

Wondershare, what gives ?

Vista: install as admin. Follow instructions - isn't registered. run Activate again after installing - now activated OK. Press 'register' button and make note of reg info. Log in as non-admin user. Start up program - not registered. type in reg info from admin activation - now works fine.

Well, the verdict is in. My comment #51 was done early this morning and I had no chance to view the results before I had to go to work except that I have an mpeg2 file with 1305 photos. That in itself was better than any other program I tried... But I have been home for a while and had a chance to look further. The music I added was missing, to start. So, I decided to use another program to add the music to the existing video. File not recognized.

I tried Aimersoft video converter to make an avi file out of it. It made a BLANK music file in avi format. Then I tried converting to wmv. Same problem.

It was then that I discovered that it altered all the codecs to it's own format and nothing else I had could use the file, BUT... Windows Media Player was able to play it (sans music). Program deleted. Hopefully previous codecs are re-instated.... Damn! I hate programs produced by programmers that are this self centered!

It's great you keep getting us this marvelous software, but do me a favor:

Ask them to offer democreator with a key? I was really dissappointed when I lost that program because I had to clean a virus from my computer.

Great product as usual from Wondershare. This is very similar to the Flash Slideshow Creator and I love both of them. EXCELLENT!

I had trouble activating the Flash product on Vista but not XP. This one seems to have been ok. Just keep running the acivation program and it seems to finally activate. Good luck.

ERROR: WMP - saying my sound card is no good. It is OK with everything else.

LOVE IT! but, it is taking a long time to process.

Took only a few minutes to create, nice 'n easy. About 20 images + transitions.

I am still waiting after 10mins to see the result, saved as a MPG2.

My PC is pretty fast with 2gig ram.

Any ideas?

Downloaded and installed easily. Like Pradeep said, you cannot change the timing between slide changes. I also had trouble when I clicked on support or the link to special upgrade pricing to Giveaway users - link didn't exist.

This DOES work on Window XP x64.

I give up on the wondershare stuff everyone I have install will not give me the registation code. I have flash and no code, Install this giveaway and still no code. I follow the directions in the read me file to the letter, I've install uninstalled everything no registration code. I have vista and it hasn't been a problem with any other software except the wondershare programs. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neat app.
It needs an apply all for adding the style. But you can double click on the style to add it instead of dragging and dropping it.
The length audio bar on the bottom should be proportional to the time. It is weird seeing my 4 minute song end after the first 4 second slide.
It took a couple of minutes to make an avi with 6 pictures and a song (2.4GHz).
It is a nice and simple tool. It is almost too simple for me as I would like to be able to have more options. I like the iPhone slideshow better with the exception of the resolution.

To those having trouble with Vista and this program I found a couple things I was doing to cause problems. I was running activate from the zip file instead of unzipping the file first to a directory and then running. Then once I unzipped the file, I first just double clicked the file and got a reg error. Then I right clicked and ran as administrator and it worked fine.

Mine wasnt registered at first either so I just ran the activate file again and that worked.

For those not able to get your copy registered try this.

This is what happened to me. The txt file that came with this download read as followed,
"Run the activation program Activate.exe which is included in the package, then run Setup.exe to install the software."

The problem I had was that it wasn't register and kept asking me for name and register code. So I ran the activate.exe a second time with the software shut down, then ran the program after running the activate.exe the second time and then check the key icon on the top right of the program and it read that it was registered.

Wonderful looking software, 25mb though, that will be tough...
Does it save it as a different file than WMV, because WMV dosent work with youtube which sucks.

i unstalled the prog and reinstalled it again now works properly with the evalution removed
simply put follow what others say re problems one has to be right
but watch out for the micky mouse ppl i followed one and pc was wiped clean inc operating system itself

I like it. It works exactly as it says it does. If you don't like that it doesn't save as a .flv or .swf flash file, just go to http://www.media-convert.com and convert the file to .flv or .swf. BTW, you can also just upload the vid to YouTube as a .mpeg or .mp4. AFAIK, anyway.

This program is ok. I'm really disappointed with the selection of styles and you would have to buy their platinum version to get any dvd templates. I have to admit though, I'm a total Creator fan and you can get Creator 10 for only about $20 more on sale. With Creator you have control over every aspect of the movie making process and it's just as easy as doing it with this Wondershare program.

I guess if you want something easy and fast and you don't care too much about selection, this free giveaway is a good download.

I just love Wondershare products and this is certainly no exception. My wife, who generally doesn't catalog and produce the pictures she takes is now "hooked."

Wonderful results and super easy to achieve. I've decided to have a party where my grandchildren come over and make their own stories.

Could someone who has installed this go to "about" and tell us what version this is.

Alright, I downloaded ran activate.exe, then setup.exe, ran the program and closed it and lastly ran activate again. The next time the program was run it was working. Better yet, if you hit the register button after running it it will show you the email giveaway@giveawayoftheday.com and your registration code. Make note of these and make a backup for later use if your system ever has issues. Everything works as it should. I think this is definitely a title to check out as many people will find a use for this. Thanks GOTD.

I downloaded this new version of Photo Story along side of the older giveaway and am comparing them. Did not replace the old one (version 2.5.5)with this new one (version 3.0) but put it in a new folder. Glad I did it that way as the two versions have significant differences. In the short time I’ve been evaluating this, here’s what I’ve found.
First, the old version will create a screensaver, an .SWF file (with or without HTML to put it on a website), or a stand-alone .EXE file (with optional auto-run). Also available are options to upload to an FTP site (yours or theirs) and to send your show to someone via email.

The new version instead will create a video in your choice of MP4, AVI, WMV, 3GP or MPEG-2. A number of video formats are supported, such as iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, PSP, Creative Zen, Archos, Zune, Xbox 360, etc.

Second, it seems that this new version has removed some of the things that made this software so nice. While the clip art & effects are included in folders with the program, I can’t locate them anywhere IN the program, nor anyway to use them. Also missing are the intros and endings. These are significant omissions to me. While not as important, there are also fewer styles (67-83), filters (5-12), and text effects then in the old version. The new version does offer some nice premade text styles.

My old version (2.5.5) doesn’t call itself Gold or Platinum, and it appears to be sort of a cross between Platinum and Flash Slideshow Builder. Since I can convert an .SWF file to other video types with one of the many video converters out there, I think I’ll stick with the old version. But I’m keeping the new one for now to further evaluate. If you don’t have the old one, I’d suggest to grab this.

I already have the Platinum version, so to go backwards to Gold would be a little dumb. But Thank You to GAOTD and Wondershare to offer another version for those who do not have it or lost it!

Actually it does not allow to add more than one audio file, so you cannot even make an audio clip span through the entire story if it is shorter than your story!!!! This is not good. The audio file feature is pretty much useless then.

Ok, the audio files work. But for some reason it does not repeat the audio file through the story unlike Flash Story Builder which by default did that. There is no such option here. There is an icon if you click Edit on the added audio file that has two arrows in the refresh/recycle style, but that icon is disabled. There is no copy/paste option either. You have to add the same file again and again until the end of the story. Not very friendly in this regard.

Some people recommended Micosoft Photo story 3.. I have downloaded it, and found that it works well. But I haven't downloaded the other programme to do a comparison.
I was able to run Photo story on my vista os.
My os (operating system) is Vista home premium.

Great product! Don't know why they are two similar products from the same company (comparing to the Flash Story Builder offered a few days back).

One suggestion: I think by default the background should be white. Black background does not work very well with some of the themes. If you have vertical pictures, those themes fill them up with white strips, and with black background it does not fly very much.

Has anyone tried the audio files. I am trying out one, but for some reason it is not playing any sound. I checked the file by playing it in Media Player and it is ok, and I had used the same file in their Flash Story Builder and it worked great, but this software is not able to play it.

I unziped the pack and ran activate.exe. I installed and ran the software, and guess what, this dialog box comes up "Register" and I thought that it activated. What's wrong??

@81 - That´s very true, he (@75) should read the description, but on the other hand, it announces that you could enjoy on youtube, and this free software is not able to do it directly, so you have to have an extra converting software. At first I was a bit confused about those despription. Just a "small" deception:). But anyway this a nice free software.

Sorry everybody! I tried to post the activation email & registration code but that comment wasn't posted. This is the 2nd time I tried to help in that manor where the comment was black listed for some reason I can't figure.
What I can say is by running activate exe again after install, & allowing the program to open once, then closing it at the prompt, it does register. I downloaded the free add-one pointed out to us by ww2, comment # 48 & sure enough, they spiced this app up some. I'm not sure how good or poor it is at this time but I like Wondershare apps so I'll hang on to it for now.
