Stay away from Wondershare products. Their installers place a hidden trojan on your computer that causes ads to pop-up at random times. Uninstalling the program does not remove the hidden trojan.

Ditto to 45, 46, 47, 48, 49. I used to think that Wondershare was a reputable company but this GAOTD offering has changed that due to the popup ad which now resides in the corner of my screen. I will be expecting an apology from Wondershare to all GAOTD users who downloaded DVD Creator.

Thank you DavidH #47 for your post. I uninstalled The DVD creator the same day I found the original advertisement, and STILL got the pop up upon start up. I had no idea where to look for the intruding file, or what to even look for. After reading your post, I found it in basically the same location you described. I had to manually delete the offending file. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)

This program keeps throwing a pop up on to my browser. It never mentioned popups. I checkboxed the install no I didn't want wondershares browser bar, who in the #$%% would want something like that? What else have they done? Can anybody look for rootkits in this program? This will be my last wondershare product. Thank You GOTD but my paranoid mind thinks wondershare is doing bad things with 3rd party scripts.

I agree with #46 Mary. The unsolicited advertisement popups are a violation of trust. To fix this, I disabled a startup file WSHelper located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wondershare\Wondershare Helper Compact\WSHelper.exe on my computer. I hope this stops the Wondershare popups, while keeping their DVD Creator functional. I was also having issues with Windows being slow to shut down while waiting for WSHelper to stop. If disabling does not work, I'll run a full uninstall of Wondershare DVD Creator with Revo Uninstaller.

I need to post this 3 days later (today is September 27th, 2012) because now I am furious. When I started my PC today,
a large window / pop up for a Discount offer loaded on startup, on my desktop, for Wondershare products.

I do not appreciate software companies bundling pop up advertising to show up when I start my PC. This is totally inappropriate behavior. No matter how good a software may be, this is unacceptable. I will never install or purchase another Wondershare product, just based on these tactics.

This is worse than the toolbars and browsers that come bundles, but you can opt out of.

This has got to be the worst, so far, of tactics I have seen.

I had the same issue as commenter #41 (VI).

Additionally, the title bar of the program stated "Trial" and upon trying to burn a disc I was informed that I was using a trial version and that a watermark would be overlayed.

Shame...I was looking forward to trying this software.

Than a browser window opens up to the "Get Free Registration Code"(?!)

Stortch #20, no TV will play FLV nor will your burner produce a playable DVD of your FLV. You need this prog or similar to convert your FLV, etc., to a "burnable" format.

Downloaded and installed the program to my Vista machine with no problems. I got the registration code by email very quickly. Unfortunately, I have been unable to make the program show as registered even though the popup after inserting the registration code and registered email flashes that registration was successful. I installed the program on my father's XP machine and registered it with no problems. Just wondering if something is failing because of windows Vista...I'll know tomorrow if the program quits working after the "giveawayoftheday" expires.

The offer of the Video Editor for $9.99 proved to be a bait and switch as Wondershare added $2.95 to the price for registration backup. Since I could not see how to remove that item, I declined the purchase. Honesty must be upfront.

I have Vista 32bit with a dual processor and 4mb ram (actually it's not really 4mb, if you know what I mean), probably the most inferior OS of the Windows bunch, but if you know how to take care of your PC it is not such a bad OS despite what people say, with that being said, I don't understand why so may people have problems installing this software. It installed fine on my computer. Maybe it's not the software that is causing the problem or check why your computer is rejecting the software and don't be so prompt on blaming the software.

Anyway I would agree that is a pretty basic program, but a quality one. WonderShare has a good rep for making quality products.
The menu editor has the basics Enhance: zoom, effect, deinterlacing, brightness, contrast, saturation and volume / Trim: start time to finish time / Watermark: text or image, transparency, vertical & horizontal spacing, sizing / Subs: font, color, size, style, transparency, vertical & horizontal spacing / Image flipping and rotating.
The menus come with some templates, but you can download more from the website, and customize the background, music, font, thumbnail and create chapters. Options are limited; only choose from NTSC or PAL and play order.
Burning: burn to disc, save as ISO and YES YOU CAN SAVE TO DVD OUTPUT FOLDER. Just uncheck "burn to disc" and uncheck "save as ISO" and it will save to the DVD output folder which by default will be C:User/Documents/WonderShare DVD Creator/ Output. SO the software does what it says it can do.

So if you just want to do some basic DVD creation editing with an easy to use software, then this is for you. But if you want more than this then I would say pass on installing this one.

Thanks GOTD and Wondershare! I am a hardware support person for many small-to-medium size customers, and push Wondershare converters, etc with no bad feedback. I guess that makes me a specifier to potential sale customers. Your stuff works, so I recommend it to people. If not for GOTD, I would not have learned about Wondershare. It may not be the most sophisticated software for wedding video folks, but it works. Did I mention it works? Mark.

Well, as almost any other Wondeshare products, this GAOTD looks like a pretty decent video burner, converter and video edit app, enabling you you to edit and customize your DVD menus with more than 5 free DVD menu templates, with the ability to add your favorite song and picture as background music and image for your DVD menu.

And best of all, any editing effects you want to apply can be previewed before burning them: so this tool could be useful to keep your beautiful memories (Christmas, Birthday, Wedding etc...) on DVD, although it lacks of more advanced features such as the ability to add your own voice to your video files and that to set audio and video bitrate before converting your videos.

So, in my humble view, this GAOTD is GOOD but not GREAT!!

But don't worry dudes...Giovanni is here to help you...for FREE of course...so please RELAX and be happy...LOL!!

To create stunning and professional slideshows with more advanced features than those offered by this GAOTD:

* DVD slideshow GUI
Best FREE slideshow creator ever created with over 245 transitions and 100 special effects to add on your entire slideshow. With this magic FREE tool you can even add and edit music, 35 motion backgrounds, borders and subtitles. To add an audio track (for instance a recorded narration) to a specific point of your slideshow, just export your slideshow to mpg/avi format, then open it with the freeware “DubIt”:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/DubIt.shtml

After recording your narration or adding your music sounds to specific points of your slideshow, export to wav/mp3 and then import them into you DVD slideshow GUI project.

To edit your VIDEOS in a more professional way, compared to this GAOTD:

* VirtualDub (==> Softpedia Editor Pick)

Portable version:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Multimedia/Video/VirtualDub-Portable.shtml

* Avidemux 2.5.6

* EKD
Very powerful post-production software for retouching both your videos and pictures in one go. In short it helps you transform your pictures into professional video files, as well as edit and encode your video sequences.

http://ekd.tuxfamily.org/index.php/Accueil/AccueilEnglish

To convert your VIDEOS into whatever format you like with the ability to modify bitrate, keyframe interval, framerate and the rate control mode of both videos and audio chapters (all advanced features missing in this GAOTD):

Want to create 3D movies from 2D but you are a beggar or just a stingy person and don’t want to spend any money for this, right??

Don’t worry and be happy...you can do it for FREE!

To edit your IMAGES in a similar way as PHOTOSHOP usually does, before burning them into a DVD:

Ok, you are now ready to create your own Home DVD, is that right dudes?

* WinX DVD Author

* DVD Flick

* StarBurn

So all in all 45 bucks for a program like this GAOTD is "a little bit" pricey: do you agree with me dudes?? LOL!

Enjoy!!

Running Win 7 / 64 bit. Downloaded, installed & registered no problem. Tried to burn a DVD using 14 fifteen second mpg vids from a vacation trip. Worked smoothly until 99% complete then froze. Burner ran and ran but never hit 100%. Couldn't stop the process and couldn't stop the burner nor eject the disk. Used Task Manager to close the program but burner continued to spin. Had to do a hard shutdown and restart to eject the disk. The disk showed signs of having been burned, so tried it in a DVD player. First vid played OK, second vid begins for about 1/2 second then repeats over & over. Really disappointed! Wondershare products have always been the best IMHO. Will be uninstalling this and sticking with Windows Live Movie Maker.

Be warned - you may need to scrap the fist disc you burn. I accepted the default settings to burn a copy of "A Man For All Seasons" broadcast recently on BBC. This software gives you an opening screen with whacky Marx Brothers-type music played on honky tonk piano and tuba! Doesn't exactly put you in the mood for a heart-wrenching film of a man in torment. (I nearly chose to burn Schindler's List!!!)

You've been warned!

Menu editing is pretty limited. You can't, for example have 'pop-up' text when you select a chapter. There are additional 'animated' menu templates available at their website, but you can't create your own menu or add clips/images. Prog doesn't allow you to use video files for background music, only music file formats (MP3s, WMA's etc). Personally, I like to use some sound bytes of the actual video content. Price is a bit steep when you consider both Nero & Roxio include 'as good' DVD makers in their suites. MS's movie maker doesn't provide 'animated' menus but has a lot more customizing features.
To use the save to ISO, you have to have a full 4gb space available even if you create a very short DVD.

NP with installation.
Pro's
1. For a Novice it's perfect because it guides you through the whole process pretty well.
Con's
1. Templates are very limited. You need to go to their website and download the free templates. It would be nice to be able to edit the template completely.
2. I can't get rid of the template thumbnail
3. The main page advert is a little annoying.

Excellent Gift from GOTD & WonderShare

I have seven WonderShare software titles installed on my W7 x64 PC. Some are GOTD freebies. Some were purchased. But all seven software are gems.

WonderShare develops quality software that install and run great on W7. I never experience any issues with WonderShare software. It does what its advertised to do. And their software is usually intuitive and very easy to learn.

The real deal here is Wondershare Video Editor v3 for only $10. The first two versions were not wonderful. But the new version 3 is a kickazz vid editor (that is, great for a lightweight video editor...but it is not Premiere). Thanks to Wondershare, I finally retired Windows Movie Maker.

Again, thank you WonderShare and the GOTD Team!
