I tried to import an AVI file.
It failed to create decoder. File cannot be imported.
I have tried several times now.
Anyone have answers?

My computer has an older AMD Duron processor--generally quite underpowered for video applications--and this is the first program I've used that actually creates a usable DVD, with the audio and video actually in sync! So I'm going to hold onto this one. Thanks, --Sandy

99% !!!!!!!!!!
i downloaded, installed without a problem.
i was very excited this was going to work, especially during the burn process (it's actually the "conversion" process) which progressed to 99% then lagged FOREVER, then finally shut itself down. so i tried it again with a different file and same thing happened... 99% was converted, hang-time, then C-R-A-S-H.

i'm bummed it didnt work! any suggestions guys? thanks!

Great program. I love that you can pause in the middle of burning. Which is a very handy addition. I've never seen that in any other burner! Thanks...Love this!

If you have trouble with registration in Vista, right click on the Activate.exe and select run as administrator before installing the program.

Very limited... Mostly disappointed that it will put a max of 2 hours on dvd... Unless I'm missing something.. Gonna have to keep looking... Anybody have any ideas? Know any good proggy that is intuitive and yet has reasonable options... (my files are about 150k / hour, so starting quality would waste dvd space making them into 2 gig mpegs... )

I should add, the program runs fine, I haven't had time to try the features and burn a disk as I just installed it. avi to DVD is exactly what I need, as I want to burn my video clips from my digital camera to just for fun DVDs for the big screen, sure beats that tiny screen on the camera!

I have Vista Premium, and just successfully installed the program, by following the readme instructions plus all the advise in the above posts. Run the Activate program first, maybe it installs a cookie? THEN install the setup program and everything works like a charm!

Activation worked like a charm (XP SP2). This software looks like it might be useful as it is relatively small and doesn't appear to be the resource hog many of the other video editing programs are.

My query is that: Will this software increase the quality of the picture to DVD standard when it was burned from AVI to DVD?

Because when you burn a video file from DVD to AVI it compress the file so it will lose its originality and quality.

Can anyone help me to find out the answer?

This is to the persons who were not able to install it properly:

1. Once you downloaded the software unzip the file and extract all the three files and close the web browser.

2. Run activate.exe

3. Then run setup.exe

Note, most of us used to run setup.exe first and then activate.exe which is wrong. It should happen vice versa.

Be aware, You have only 4 hrs to go. So do it fast.

Terrible. Said it was loading an AVI file I dragged and dropped and never stopped loading. Locked up, even after two hours.

A 1 out of 10.

After reading all these reviews and the Forum's, could not have it registered under Vista! So I did the following and registered OK!
1.Uninstall W AVI to DVD
2.Restart your PC safe mode with networking.
3.Reinstall W AVI to DVD. Don't forget to register again!
4 Restart

Good luck!
Thanks GAOTD for each and every software. Allways gratefull!

It activated for me - for those that had that problem the read me file said activate first then install.

However now that its active I'm getting that same access code violation message and nothing works for me either. It wouldn't close until I used task manager. I tried reinstalling it and it messed up exactly like it did the first time. I am so glad I didn't pay for this. It acts like we have a very early beta version, its full of bugs.

#9:Doesn’t work for MPEG2, so not much use to me.

#21:I can’t get it to work for any of the video files i have on my computer. i tried with mpeg, mpeg4, and mov and none of them work. I keep getting a “fail to create decoder, file [.mov] cannot be imported.

Answer: If you want to burn MPEG or MOV files ,you should need itself codec. So you can use Video to DVD that supports MPEG,MOV,AVI,MP4 and other formats.

look, you guys, let me explain the activation issue.
1. The database/server had beed down for about three hours in the beginning. So you cannot visit the website nor active the program,
2. Vista users, we've talked about this million times, run the activation file as "administrator"
3. if you got a complaint, go to the forum, you can start a thread and complain.
4. read the replies and you will find the answer in most time.

I am getting the same "DLL" error message as mentioned several times here and am unable to correct it. “access violation at address 0079A08F in module ‘glplayer.dll’. write of address 07E71010″ . the only way to close the application is through the task manager. I finally uninstalled it ... it isn't worth all this trouble.

XP,(Professional), Media Center Edition User - downloaded, extracted, and installed software with ease. Activated. Seems like useful software even if it ony uses AVI Conversion. I don't think that is a reason to complain. ** There are other software programs that will help convert your file(s) to AVI. GOATD has given great examples of this in the past. Thank you for this download GOATD!

- Menus with option to use your own custom image ***THUMBS UP***
- Option to add music as well as different transition options.

As usual I downloaded then read the README file included in the zip, then proceeded to follow the instructions given there and as always the program installed and registered flawlessly.
Does what it says it does and very simple to use.
Thank you GAOTD and Wondershare. Another great giveaway offer.

To #43:

This is much the same as apollo dvd from a few days ago. I think it works better if you have a small hard disk like I do. Apollo needs nearly double the hard disk space to create a 4.5gb dvd. However, apollo seems to work with more files.
Do yourself a favour, get convertxtodvd instead. You can download a demo, but if you are going to pay for it, I'd wait for version 3 to come out. It's apparently going to be LOADS better than version 2.xxx with menus and plugins and pic quality etc.

Pros:
It registers and activates alright in XP if you follow the instructions in the readme file - it's no different to most other GAOTD giveaways.

The menu control isn't too bad.

Works fine with Avi.

Biggest most annoying Cons:
Only Avi files will work on it. That's sad considering there are so many other files out there. Even a lot of digital cameras output are not avi.

Conclusion:
Not bad if all you have is a whole bunch of downloaded divX with avi file extensions. If you have HD content and want to put on dvd, you're out of luck. The menus work alright for a basic fancy style. I'm sure this was offered on GAOTD not long ago.
This still doesn't even come close to ConvertXtoDVD. It's got a BIT better menu creation than convertxtodvd, but convertxtodvd is so much better of a program in every other way.

Why the developers often develop lots of software which only can do the limited functions? It is very inconvenient for us users. We have to install so many software to do the same work. I really like some all-in-one software such as Movavi Video Suite. It can meet all my needs for my videos and DVDs. I hope Wondershare Team would refer to this software here: http://www.dvd-video-converters.com/dvdvideosuite/movavi-video-suite.html

It must be nice, but caused me grief to install. Had to remove it. I think there is a compatibility problem with the activation key and the program's dll's. Blocked me from the sight to come on and tell everyone. 3 installs, uninstall, finally had to let it go. Oh well. If the makers is watching, there seems to be registry glitches.

Installed fine and is currently burning a DVD....

One question....
How do I know it's registered or not?
the "About" window doesn't say anything about it being registered...

But I'm not seeing any sort of nag screen or anything.

If you have problems accessing all video file types, try installing ffdshow from Sourceforge.net or Softpedia.com. Alternatively, XP users could install XP Codec Pack from Free-codecs.com. I have both installed, and configure each for the best from each. If you don't want to go through that, ffdshow is slightly better than the XP codec pack.

I found that somehow my install had gotten trashed and reinstalling ffdshow after Wondershare AVI to DVD fixed the problem.

Still not good enough to recommned due to other previously noted problems.
