If the developers are around (everyone else can ignore this) - does it do all the work in FFMPEG and if so would it be possible to optionally pop up the FFMPEG command rather than doing it inside the program, to allow a little tweaking?

Ez, 27.6.0.0 is what you get clicking the Free Download button on the product website linked above... I installed that yesterday and the GiveAway licence worked fine. As you already have the licence installed I'd think an update to that version has a good chance of going okay.

rww, FAQ.:
Q: What are the difference between the 3 programs, HD Video Converter Factory Pro, DVD Ripper Pro and DVD Video Converter? How do I choose?
A:
(1). DVD Ripper Pro features ripping DVDs to digital video formats like MP4, AVI, MKV, etc. and 1:1 quick copy from DVD disc to DVD folder and ISO image.
(2). HD Video Converter Factory Pro features video & audio conversion, video downloading.
(3). DVD Video Converter is the all-in-one program with the main features of the two software above.
To put it simply, DVD Ripper Pro + HD Video Converter Pro > DVD Video Converter as HD video compression and some other useful tools such as screen recorder & GIF maker are not available in DVD Video Converter. Besides, the merge feature is not as good and flexible as HD Video Converter Pro.
Besides, DVD Ripper Pro alone doesn't have the option to merge individual DVD videos, so it's most users' choice to purchase the HD Video Converter Factory Pro + WonderFox DVD Ripper Pro discount pack (buy one get one free) for the comprehensive features.

AMD not supported?
Save | Cancel
Frank, WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro 27.0 is designed to run on Windows computers and does not have a specific requirement for an Intel processor. It can run on both Intel and AMD processors. Here are some details to clarify the compatibility:
Processor Compatibility
Intel Processors:
The software is compatible with a wide range of Intel processors, not limited to the latest models. It should run on any relatively modern Intel CPU that meets the minimum system requirements.
AMD Processors:
The software is also compatible with AMD processors. This includes both older and newer AMD CPUs, as long as they meet the basic system requirements.
System Requirements
While WonderFox doesn't specify exact processor models, the general system requirements are as follows:
Operating System:
Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.
Processor:
A 1 GHz or higher processor is typically required. This includes most Intel and AMD processors from the past decade.
RAM:
At least 512 MB of RAM is recommended, but more RAM (1 GB or more) is beneficial for better performance, especially for batch processing and HD video conversion.
Hard Disk Space:
At least 100 MB of free space for installation. Additional space will be needed for temporary files during the conversion process.
Performance Optimization
Hardware Acceleration:
The software supports hardware acceleration, which can significantly speed up the conversion process. This feature works with Intel Quick Sync Video, Nvidia NVENC, and AMD's GPU acceleration technologies. While it enhances performance, it's not mandatory for running the software.
Older Processors:
While the software can run on older processors, performance may be slower compared to newer CPUs. Users with older hardware might experience longer conversion times, especially for high-definition videos or batch conversions.
Conclusion
WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro 27.0 can run on both Intel and AMD processors, including those from older generations, as long as they meet the basic system requirements. For optimal performance, having a newer processor with hardware acceleration support will provide the best experience, but it is not strictly necessary for the software to function.

gergn, I take it you are not actually testing the software you are writing about as the OP was talking about AMD GPU acceleration not AMD CPU's which is generally Intel compatible so most software that operates under Intel CPU's will operate on an AMD CPU duh! Also you have NOT tested the System requirements, if you had you would not specify "Windows Vista, and Windows XP." as part of the system requirements since this software is based entirely around the build of FFMPEG that requires Windows 7 or ABOVE not "Windows 7 or lower" implying it would even work under Windows NT4.0 which is of course impossible in current build. You would have listed the erroneous system requirements under Cons: but I guess ChatGPT does not test software it is asked to comment on either! Remember I warned AI generated text NEEDS to be fact and context checked as it does not understand what it is spirting out ASCII characters about and does not do ANY fact checking itself either.

Frank, I tested the newer trial on two W11 laptops, both in VirtualBox W7 Pro and in SandboxIE. One laptop has an Intel processor, the other an AMD. These are my findings:
1) It runs fine on both in SandboxIE. Both can be activated with the GAOD-key;
2) It runs fine in VirtualBox W7 Pro virtual machine on the Intel laptop. But it does NOT accept the key. I get an error message the key is too old.
3) It runs fine in VirtualBox W7 Pro on the AMD laptop and accepts the GAOD key.
I do not make, nor edit videos myself, so I am not the person to really test the software on real videos.

Frank, on this page I see the official requirements, as posted by GAOD:
"System Requirements:
Windows 11/ 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7 and lower; Processor: Intel, AMD, 1.5 GHz or higher; Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce series, Intel HD Graphics, AMD Radeon series; Display: 1200 × 768 screen resolution or higher; RAM: 1 GB or higher; Hard drive space: 300 MB available hard disk space for installation"
I do not have the resources to check if GAOD has made any errors in the above text.

Frank, Presumably hardware support is complicated as it includes 3rd party tools, so will support what they support when (!!) it uses them. For example it includes ffmpeg version 4.3 (built in 2022, along with assorted other dlls etc, so presumably won't support anything they didn't support at the time - BTW I also use ffmpeg v6.0 stand-alone, so 4.3 is not that recent). Of course working out how it would do a particular processing step would be tricky, as it might use ffmpeg, or might not...
"C:\Program Files (x86)\WonderFox Soft\HD Video Converter Factory Pro\Data1\ffmpeg.exe"
-> shows build options selected ->
ffmpeg version 4.3 Copyright (c) 2000-2020 the FFmpeg developers
built with gcc 9.3.1 (GCC) 20200621
configuration: --disable-static --enable-shared --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-sdl2 --enable-fontconfig --enable-gnutls --enable-iconv --enable-libass --enable-libdav1d --enable-libbluray --enable-libfreetype --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libsrt --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libxml2 --enable-libzimg --enable-lzma --enable-zlib --enable-gmp --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvmaf --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libmysofa --enable-libspeex --enable-libxvid --enable-libaom --enable-libgsm --disable-w32threads --enable-libmfx --enable-ffnvcodec --enable-cuda-llvm --enable-cuvid --enable-d3d11va --enable-nvenc --enable-nvdec --enable-dxva2 --enable-avisynth --enable-libopenmpt --enable-amf
It does include --enable-amf which is an AMD GPU thing, I don't know if that includes the accelerated encoders h264_amf and hevc_amf automatically (tho I assume it will), or if WonderFox use them (that's trickier).
So, in summary - possibly! (Sorry, but it's a little more info at least. Theoretically you could us a FFMPEG stand-alone to hevc_amf encode a video then H.265 encode it in WonderFox and compare times.)

gergn, did it offer any GPU/APU acceleration under AMD based system? That was Franks question not would it run under AMD CPU which is a given for literally any windows x86 based software!
TK Looking at the various copies of FFMPEG.EXE 32bit and 64bit -codecs listings should expose if the work horses this softwares functionality is entirely dependant on should reveal if the codec modules used for h264 and h265/HEVC and VP9 etc offer anything other than software, CUDA, NVENC/NVDEC or Intel Fast sync encoders/decoders... Of course it is entirely possible for FFMPEG.EXE to offer more features than the closed source GUI presents to the end users.

TK, Frank's question was: "AMD not supported?" Nothing more, nothing less. He did not ask anything specific on acceleration.
I answered Frank twice. Once by quoting what GAOD wrote about it. The second time what I found when I tested the Giveaway on both an Intel and an AMD laptop. Each in Sandboxie, and on a virtual W7 Pro. So I tested the giveaway four times in total.
In all four cases the software would install first, followed by a check on the acceleration possibilities.
I did not test the freeware alternatives, as I am not interested in video editing.

gergn, VCSD Free Video Editor is NOT Freeware it is Freemium. It is slightly feature limited in Free non-paid for form but full features are paid for Pro features only... Remember ChatGPT does not fact check, That's YOUR job before you repost it's output! And it has a plethora of features that WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro simply has no clue about as it's not a Video Editor! You really should try out software before asking ChatGPT about it and ignorantly reposting it as your own content!

gergn, but you cannot download VSDC Pro, you obtain it by installing the Free Editor and then purchasing an upgrade license code and apply it to the Free Editor and that converts the Free edition to an enhanced Pro edition for the duration of the purchased Pro license. Precisely the definition of Freemium. The text "and use it completely free without restrictions" is not accurate as when you compare it with the unrestricted features of the Pro license activated VSDC Free Editor you find the inactivated Pro license, Free Edition is somewhat restricted in functionality... The Free executable has enhanced features locked away behind a paywall. Therefore not Freeware. see https://www.videosoftdev.com/pro-features for a more complete comparison. I personally recommend VSDC in both Free and Pro form but not rented Pro Form as renting software is a royal pain for non-professional users. The Free form is adequate for creation of simple wedding videos... I've done it. You missed out the charge for Pro license is annual not a one off charge and lifetime activation. From the FAQ page FYI:
"7.Are there any restrictions for VSDC Pro Video Editor subscription?
The subscription is valid for one year and can be used on two computers."
So again Freemium not Freeware.
