I love this program, have been backing up my dvd collection since the giveaway and it has been flawless. Only annoyance is when it finishes the copy you get a nag screen. The popup says "you are using the Giveaway version, 50% to upgrade to the full version, etc, etc" Just close it and you done.

This is response from Wonderfox. "Stan Fi, download the installation file from website and use the key provided with giveaway to register.
I did a couple of times yesterday & could not & did not find a hard copy of the program on my desktop. I guess it's because I have windows XP

Downloaded, installed and registered, with key.. all no problem, on Win7, 32bit.
Edited, converted, and saved video to another format.. edited well, converted, and saved it.. only problem.. didn't do it properly.. the audio and video are not in sync.
Also tried out the ringtone feature, selected a portion of audio to make into a ringtone.. saved it.. but it saved the entire audio file, not the portion i selected of it.
Otherwise, did find it useful for editing things such as vertical and horizontal flips of videos accidentally recorded in the wrong layout.. changed from portrait to landscape with the flip feature, can also fix a video recorded upside down and set it upright..

It would be nice if software is not only activated but also is INSTALLED!!!!! I tried to install it a few times on Windows 10 with no success. It pops up a window that it is activated but this is about it... No software is installed! Very disappointing :(

I installed on an XP SP3 system and had problems when the program runs:
The procedure entry point _wfopen_s could not be found in dynamic link library msvcrt.dll. This in turn causes memory access problems, so somehow the program does not handle this situation correctly.
Has anyone else had success installing to an XP SP3 system? If so, then it might be how the program is using other resources, such as ffmpeg (some older versions of ffmpeg caused the same problem, but it was fixed a couple years ago).

I have been testing many versions of Wonderfox Converter & video downloaders , always had issues with their downloader, similar video programs were a breeze, could never get
Wonderfox downloader to work, always errors issues, I still occasionally get download error on a few daily motion videos tested, Error: say check your internet connection only, no other
Reason for error. My internet is fine , no problems with any other programs.
Even though this version still having these connection errors, Wonderfox developers have finally got it's downloader to work, it finally worked on youtube , and few other sites successfully,
and was pretty fast. Good job on fixing those Longtime ongoing downloader issues.
This program can now be a Top program, but still needs some hot improvements below, and this will be great!
**Option to Auto correct of video resolution and lighting,
Add video audio enhancements cleaning, are still very limited, could not notice any good improvements with video filters, made older videos look worse.
**When editing & trimming videos, why is there no sound in video preview window like most converters?? Also, cannot easily skip thru parts of video to find video parts
Would like removed, please add sound to edit preview.
*** Still badly needs video & audio fade options to look professional
*** Still badly needs or lacking , hardly any Video sound effect to max or boost video sound without clipping or distorting or sound effect to max or boost video sound without clipping or distorting.
or auto correct or reduce video sound problems like hissing and audio feedback etc
Again, glad to see some good progress finally, I would be fully Glad to Purchase program asap, and leave all Great Online Reviews across the board
for this Online Video Downloader/all in one program,if could add these or at least some of these addtl hot improvements. Please keep up the progress and improvements!

A warning to all XP Pro users.
Contrary to the claim:
"System Requirements:
Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 8.1/ 10; Processor: > 1 GHz Intel or AMD CPU; Free Hard Disk Space: 50 MB or more; RAM: 512 MB or above"
This software does NOT run in XP Pro.
To let you know just so you do not download and install unnecessarily.

I downloaded and installed the program but it will not run. I even downloaded the installer from the WonderFox website and installed it, but the program will not run. I am using Windows XP Pro SP3 as my OS. I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed and Microsoft Security Essentials installed. I tried disabling both of these but the program will not run. According to the WonderFox specs for this program, Windows XP is supposed to be a supported OS.

This is the latest version of the generic video converter sold under many different shell brand names. It uses open-source ffdshow as its core video converter. It's a perfectly competent video converter, nothing wrong with it for what it does. I just downloaded the installer direct from the Wonderfox web site and used the GOTD registration code with it. One rookie programming mistake though: the Registration entry pop-up box advises using copy-and-paste to get the registration key right, but they forgot to enable paste in the registration code field.

Dear Wonderfox, thanks very much for participating here today! DVD Video Converter is always the first software I try when I want to convert a video, and I'm so glad to see you here again.
I'm always curious about what has changed since a previous version, in this case v9 from last year's giveaway, but I searched all over the VideoConverterFactory site without ever finding a link to any kind of change history. Finally I found it by triggering the "check for update" routine in the software, which listed a few things and then took me to the proper page on the website. For anyone else interested, the update log is here:

Thank you, Wonderfox & GOTD, for making this available!

WonderFox DVD Video Converter is an ffmpeg-based converter that understands the DVD format, and can work with the DRM on retail DVDs as well. Ffmpeg is a popular, very often used set of software libraries [code] for decoding & encoding software [ wikipedia[.]org/wiki/FFmpeg ]. The reason for mentioning ffmpeg is that as a video encoder, when the encoding settings are the same, it will produce identical results, regardless the software using it. The main differences between ffmpeg-based converters are the encoding settings used or allowed, the GUI or interface, what video formats it will open, and features for manipulating the video before it's re-encoded.
WonderFox DVD Video Converter itself is self-contained, meaning it doesn't alter or effect the ways that Windows handles whatever types of media, whereas an app that adds external software, e.g. something like a codec pack, can effect how Windows & some software works with media files. This GOTD is also almost portable, with files only added to the program's folder & My Documents, & very minimal additions to the registry.
As with most every other company offering video conversion software, Wonderfox does exaggerate a bit in their ad copy... Anything that alters video will reduce the quality -- it's called generational loss, & it's why most commercial video [TV shows etc.] is shot at a higher resolution than what's distributed or shown as a finished work. Thats why it's nice that WonderFox DVD Video Converter also accepts HD video, which results in much higher quality than the same sized video made from a DVD.
Unfortunately since the legal action in the US against Fengtao [DVDFab], software to handle the DRM on Blu-ray has become rare. You can still use WonderFox DVD Video Converter with it [in accordance with the laws & regs where you live], but you'll have to do some work beforehand, using something like AnyDVD HD or Passkey to copy the Blu-ray disc to HDD, then using the free tsMuxeR to create a new Blu-ray on HDD, then in WonderFox DVD Video Converter open the single .m2ts file with your content [the original Blu-ray may have several .m2ts files making up one video].
Lastly I'm a bit skeptical regarding the claim that WonderFox DVD Video Converter "Fully supports you to back up any encrypted DVDs with Cinavia Protection...". Cinavia is a method of DRM that embeds an inaudible signal in the audio track(s). The only 100% cure AFAIK is to use a player that doesn't recognize & enforce Cinavia DRM. AnyDVD will bypass Cinavia when you use certain software players, & DVDFab has an add-on to remove Cinavia on Some titles, where they'll supply a replacement audio track.

Does this work with Blu-Ray discs? I see someone else asked too but no answer so far.

No, Blu-Ray encryption is more complex and needs a different program.

No problems encountered during the download and installation processes, but when trying to run it (in order to be able to register it), it fails during startup. I'm getting an error "The procedure entry point _wfopen_s could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll".

Installed easily except long Reg Key would not copy and paste, had to type it in.
On launch...opens to a small screen that does not resize...making all the controls and menus a bit small and hard to read. Also, it has a dark blue theme making the already small black type harder to read.
Opens to attractive interface but the edit function is not intuitive.....seems you are expected to know the start and stop time you want rather than play the video file and mark it. Very inefficient...if it even works. Don't know if the difficulty in selecting the edits will make this program useful at all. It needs to be "easy" and intuitive....like avimedux. NOT whatever you think you are doing.
Its in the details/presentation isn't it?..........Like food.

DoOver,
"Put in my 11.7Gb DVD of Gladiator... "
ummmm... Sorry, but No DVD can hold 11.7 GB unless it's dual-sided, & that's only rarely used to distribute 2 versions of a movie -- no one's going to want to stop in the middle of a movie to remove & reinsert the disc.

I don't use social media, so I asked for a link by email. The email arrived within a couple minutes, and I clicked the link. It opened a GOTD page which said to click a link to start the download. When I did, I got a 404, suggesting that I'd mistyped it or used an expired link.
I really want this software. I used DVD Ripper on my old computer, but now I need something on my new computer.

Took nearly 2 hours to receive the download link and when the software was installed I tried converting a few video files to different formats and got an error message telling me I'd insufficient memory - Rig runs an 8 core processor and 32Gb RAM. The files I'd tried to convert did not have form of protection on them, they were videos from a drone camera. Obviously something wrong with this software. I'll stick with my current video converter and uninstall this. Another waste of time.

I've downloaded the software, un-Ziped obtained a 1KB ReadMe file, a 2,484KB Setup file and a 11,048KB Setup.gcd file when I run the Setup file it immediately tries to activate (without apparently installing the software) and informs me that the giveaway period is over.

George South,
I had the same issue. I turned off my antivirus protection and it installed fine. This seems to be an ongoing problem with the GOTD installer. I've run into it before.

For entertainment purpose only, I've decided to convert an iTunes audio file - M4P. WonderFox has converted that encoded audio file without any issues or complaints, and created a nice looking MP3 file, but...
I could not play that file with any audio players.
Just saying...

For what its worth, I opened my previous version (9) of this software and it asked if I wanted to upgrade to the latest version (the current 13.3) The upgrade was successful, but of course it needed to be registered. After downloading this GOTD, I just used the serial key, and successfully registered.

I also run Kaspersky Internet Security and even when it is disabled and turned off, the GGOTD wrapper reports that the files are corrupt. I believe this is due to the fact that the wrapper appears to unpack and then run the installer directly from memory, rather than creating a temporary file. Kaspersky picks up this behaviour as dangerous and prevents the file from running. I have found only one solution to this, and that is to start Windows in Safe Mode with Network Support. This prevents Kaspersky from running, and allows the installer to complete and register.
I have to admit that I now only install software from GOTD that I already know I want to keep, and I no longer install software to evaluate as a result, which is what I used to do with the old wrapper, which is a shame.
Even now, after installing, i let my system do a deep scan just to be safe, or if I can, install it under a virtual machine and scan that. I've never had a virus from GOTD yet, but I too am not happy that I have to completely disable all my protection suite just to install software. I know that hackers broke the first wrapper allowing people to keep the software installers for free which prompted the redevelopment of a new wrapper, but there must be something else that can be done to protect the vendors. The current wrapper is actively turning people off trialling the software.

I've downloaded this three times (each time deleting the previous download and unzipped files) with my Kaspersky and Malwarebytes software turned off but the installer always tells me the downloaded files are corrupted and to contact the developer. This happens to me time after time after time with GAOTD software and its beginning to annoy me so much I'm beginning to think its time to unsubscribe altogether from GAOTD.

Gringuk,
I'm sorry for your trouble. I just downloaded, installed and registered with no trouble at all. It works perfectly.
It sounds like you're doing all the right things to prevent problems. But clearly it's something on your system, not on GOTD, that is the cause.
Save | Cancel
Gringuk, Installed okay for me, *after* I disabled both firewall and my virus software.
Save | Cancel
Gringuk, turning off Kaspersky doesn't work. The only way to install GAOTD software with Kaspersky installed is to install from Safe Mode, or better yet, uninstall Kaspersky and use something else, as I finally did after years of frustration with that software. No kidding.
Save | Cancel
Gringuk, This might not work, but right click on the program file and click on "Properties." Look at the bottom and see if it says "Block and Unblock," click the unblock and hit "Apply." Hopefully it might work for you. Otherwise I don't think the download was complete.

Gringuk, I second Bruce Fraser's comment. Absolutely no problems here!! And I even did not turned off my anti-virus - just forgot to do it!!
