Weird, some have it in polish, russian, I have seen Englsih. Mine started in Dutch (which is fine since I am Dutch)
@5 q1: The opening screen states: Thank you for using the pro version, The end date of your license is: Lifetime without updates. So... as long as you do not update it (as we all know is one of the GOTD conditions) you will have a fully working program

This is what some people say about Format Factory - which is described here as an alternative.

It installed for me in English. Thanks to previous posters. I like the idea that it is simple, fast and gives the option of keeping the original resolution. Good as a simple video converter; perhaps not as stand alone, but as an addition to collection of other media managers. Addition of some even simple editing features would have made it even more useful.

As Giovanni said this field is oversaturated. With bloody competition. Posts like #7 may be the sophisticated kick from competitor to compromize GOTD developer.
I strongly advise everybody interested to find some day another excellent converter: please try it yourself, do not trust to some today's comments.

What I discovered as the pros:

- Instead of hundreds of rigid profiles for particular models of devices (most of them I never will have) this program offers 3 generic profiles: mobiles, all pads (iPad and other) and PCs. Within generic profile I see default settings and I can do fine tune for each file depending on the particular device model and particular purpose to use the file. Programs with rigid profiles did not allow me that. I had to create countless new profiles (if program allowed).
- It converted the test file with really good quality. No blocks or other artefacts even when zoomed.
- It can generate itself the portable version (the button is in the settings).

- For each file in the list I see: the thumbnail of first frame, duration, original and resulting resolution, format and file size.
- I can select "auto" for each parameter to relay on the program or keep the original values (resolution, fps, bitrate etc.). It is the most valuable for me. With other programs I had to find out myself all original values and set it to the program.

Cons are not critical:

- during installation it tries to guess the user language and loses. Better to ask the user. To change the language I pressed the most left setting button in top right corner, then the second from the bottom in pop-down list.

- I had to check out "program auto update", "auto news" and "auto overwrite".
- not clear if it uses single-pass or double-pass process. Looking at the resulting quality I guess it is double-pass.
- after conversion the file disappears from "todo" list. If I want to repeat the converting (with some changes) I have to set it again.

The speed purely depends on the CPU and process priority. On my old weak netbook with 60% use of N200 CPU and low priority the 10-minute clip was converted in 16 minutes. I am not surprised.

Preview window during the process is not necessary to every user because of significant slowdown to the converting process.
The best use of this program is to prepare large batch with tune setting for each file, to run it and go to bed or night club.

#11 - Yes the GUI looks asketic as any real pro program. No - the program is not "simplistic". Maybe you did not find all detailed settings for each file.

P.S. I am glad the developer took a risc to try oversaturated converters field. And looking at some CONs in comments I am in doubt if that CONs are serious. Who can say today the online help is a CON? You can make it offline in 10 seconds if you like. No profile for iPod NANO-1 of 2004? No profile today for future iPad 9 or Android 8? Is it a CON? Better to test if the program flexible enough for past and future models.

#14 Giovanni, with all due respect, CUDA video converter is free only with basic version. In that version it hasn't any profiles for mobile devices, has nagging screen etc. Advanced version (which I would say is just full version) costs $35/year or $50 for unlimited license. And you are laughing that today giveaway is priced at $30? Seriously?

Does this actually convert?

There are so many products out there that convert video, from the paid to free, so it takes something that really catches the eye to stand out from the crowd.

Just looking at the website does nothing to make me think that this is just a run of the mill product.

No mention of support for Cuda, Intel quicksync etc that can give an edge when it comes to performance.

Most converters will do a good job in terms of quality but I also want some performance and there are better products out there for a small outlay that are up to date with the technology that is out there to give a better all round performance.

Thanks to WiseCleaner.com and GOTD.

Easily downloaded, installed and automatically activated.

Easily changed the language to English.

This is how you do it:
1) Run the software. The software originally starts in the Polish language.
2) Look at top right hand corner.
3) Click on the icon that is 4th from the rightmost (the rightmost is a X icon for Exit). That is the icon of a document page with an arrow pointing to the left upper corner of the icon. The tool tip on this is "Menu".
4) A scroll list appears.
5) Click on the 6th item from the top (or the 2nd last item on the list). This item is named "Język" which is "Language" in Polish.
6) Another scroll list appears. You can easily choose "English" from the scroll list. Click on that.
7) Thereafter the software will operate in English.

So far I have very good experience with Wise Cleaner 7.

I have not tried this Wise Video Converter software yet.
But if it is as good as their Wise Cleaner 7, then it would be good enough for me.

I must admit, the company has plenty of their "reps" here posting positive raves about it. LOL
Based on the *true* comments here by the reputable regulars, I won't even try todays GOTD.

@8, Keya23:
I also previously used a USB flash drive to go from computer to computer for cleanup purposes, that is until I realized an infection on "computer a" can infect the executables on my flash drive (as flash drives are not write protected) and, if not recognized by an anti-virus immediately, can infect "computer b" and thereafter by running those cleanup programs on the said flash drive later on.
I now burn my cleanup programs to a CD-R and use a CD-RW for the updates for those programs (updates (aka definitions) change frequently- no need in wasting one CD-R after another). Just a FYI from my experience...

#4: " I am looking for a video converter that can convert RAW H.264 video into AVI, MKV, or some sort of standard file format that any player can handle without exotic plug-ins. RAW H.264 files are often found in security camera DVRs and only playable by the software that comes with the security DVR."

There are quite a few settings or variables when encoding AVC/H.264, so no guarantees of playability -- no idea how your AVC is encoded -- but there are several utilities you can find at sites like videohelp.com to stick it in avi, mov, MKV, .m2ts etc. containers. You *might* find .m2ts easiest, with several front ends for an app called tsmuxer. You might be interested in multiAVCHD -- as long as your video is labeled with the .264 extension, it'll import it & spit out a Blu-Ray or AVCHD layout you can burn to disc or just use the .m2ts file it produces.

72 downvotes and no complaining yet? After trying this out on multiple video formats, I have to admit, it seems no different than every other video converter that has been given away here. After reading such massive "praise" about how great it is and how the company is so top notch, I was woefully disappointed. I have Aiseesoft media converter ultimate and WinAVI All in One Converter which did the same exact thing. In fact, WinAVI managed to convert video's QUICKER by an average of 6 minutes. I'd personally suggest waiting for some great freebie idea's from Giovanni before declaring this a major keeper and so great, simply for the fact that you can't update this. As for a portable, well, I suppose there are people taking flash drives to others houses to convert video.

I had high expectations as my favourite registry cleaner is by Wise, but a bit of a bad start on running, the language appeared to be Polish.
By hit and miss I found that I could modify this from the menu on the left most symbol in the top bar, and using the option second from the bottom which is the language choice.
On loading the video it placed it in the window with two symbols to the right, initially on mouse over they both stated that they did watermarks, a short time later the outermost one change to video configuration.
On opening the configuration I was relieved to see there wasn't an endless list of devices to choose from, just phone, pad, or PC and thankfully a number the original settings was offered as a choice.
On conversion it quickly hogged all four cores, but it did produce a watchable video without a hitch.

In conclusion, this is a very unpolished video converter and to be honest I consider it just above a beta version. From previous experience of this company's software I'm sure it will be much more polished as it is developed but it still needs quite a lot of work at every level.

*** ACHTUNG ACHTUNG ==> SUPER SATURATED FIELD DETECTED ***

Well, like any other product coming from this publisher today's giveaway is a pretty good video converting software, especially as far as quality output is concerned.

But as Ashraf rightly noticed in his excellent review this tool is not able to convert AUDIO files and above all it doesn’t have OUTPUT profiles (for mobile devices, for instance), maybe because it's still in its early stages.

So I recommend the developer to fix the above drawbacks, otherwise it doesn't make sense to charge 30 bucks if you can get more for FREE, taking also into account that this is a SUPER SUPER SUPER SATURATED FIELD nowadays (how many times did I say that?? LOL!!)!!

BEST (and BETTER) FREE ALTERNATIVES

* Portable XMedia Recode (==> My Personal First Choice)
Crazy all-in-one FREE & PORTABLE Video and Audio conversion tool, which can convert at high speed any DVD/Blu-Ray movies/Audio files flawlessly into any other format you like, giving you even the option to pick your iPhone model (so it definitely outclasses today's giveaway 10 times out of 10).

With this FREE app advanced users are also able to:

- syncronize both Audio and Video files with ease
- modify bitrate & keyframe interval
- change the framerate and the rate control mode of both videos and audio chapters

* Free CUDA Video Converter
Amazing FREE Video & Audio coverter, designed to convert all popular video and audio formats out there (HD to HD, HD to SD and SD to SD), extract audios or pictures from videos and even create video from photos.

Video Conversion supports NVIDIA CUDA, which is 5X faster in conversion time, multi-core CPU, multi-threading and batch process

Also supports High-Definition videos (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AVCHD Video (*.m2ts, *.mts), Apple TV h.264 720P, MKV, HD WMV, MPEG2/MPEG-4 TS HD Video, etc...) besides general video formats (AVI, MPEG, WMV, DivX, MP4, H.264/AVC, MKV, RM, MOV, XviD, 3GP, FLV, etc...)

Unlike this GAOTD can also convert between MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, M4A, AAC, AC3, MP2, OGG and extract audio file from HD/SD video, as well as capture pictures in batches from videos and create a video from pictures and even add multiple subtitle files and soundtracks of different languages in any converted video.

Downloaders beware, this apparently is in either German or Dutch when initially installed. Go to the main menu button (upper left) and you'll rollover a couple of the listings until you see a huge language submenu pop up. You'll figure it out from there.

Other than this little adventure, the program is extremely rudimentary -- almost simplistic to a fault. Without getting overly elaborate just let me state that anybody can figure out the basics no matter what the language is.

The problem here is that it apparently gives little in the way of output options and what little you do get is based upon the device you're attempting to convert for.

Yeah, it's free and it does work but if you're looking for more options and a bit more flexibility you'd better keep on hunting.

Waa-aaaay too much forum spamming here. Wise is being distinctly unwise in running the risk of reputational damage for a software promotion distinctly peripheral to its core business of computer maintenance and protection -- a core business it has conducted for many a year without hype or spamming. Sorry, GAOTD, but when an offer of the day comes accompanied by patently false 'reviews' and absurdities such as 'I only bought it yesterday!' then it's time to stay clear.

And BINGO! Yet another blinder from Wise...

I have Wise Care 365 (obtained as a giveaway) and it has become one of those essential pieces of software that I keep (and use very often) on my "toolkit" USB stick - the magic USB stick that I use to help people with various computer problems.

I have a number of downloaded .flv files that thus far I have been unable to successfully convert to .avi ... Even the normally outstanding FormatFactory can't handle these files.

Right now? Wise is (slowly but surely) chugging its way through the conversion.

I will post again when the conversion has finished, but I have no reason whatsoever to anticipate that the conversion will fail and that the output quality will be anything less than excellent.

The fact that you can generate a portable version of the software (in settings) is just pure bonus as far as I am concerned: of all the many giveaways that I have downloaded and tested over the years, Wise Care 365 is THE ONE that I would happily pay any price for if tomorrow my computer dies and I need to start over.

So a thumbs up from me and a big thanks to GAOTD and Wise for yet another fantastic piece of software!

I wouldn't trust this software, I love GOTD. That being said, I don't think they should have allowed such a stripped down video converter. There are plenty of free alternatives out there. The website looks like someone who doesn't even know how the software works built it for the company. It has no devices listed, simply says "Convert all formats of videos for all brands of Cellphones, Pads and PCs.", however, the screen shot only gives you the options of "iPhone/HTC/Google Nexus/Lumia/Black Berry/Nokia" under phones, no LG(my cell), although I've had no problem with any videos on my phone. Under Pad Devices it has "Pad/Google Nexus/Surface" but no Kindle. All in all I give it a thumbs down.
