Excellent 365 program from this site that has worked perfectly for years.
I did read the notes which suggested to disable avast but as previous version loaded with no issues i didnt. as soon as i ran program avast threat labs blocked it and then said this needs a further look. next day they have broken the file path so nothing loads at all. Ive reported it to them and waiting a reply.
now multiple scan were all clean but virus total came back with 1 trojan warning but scanning the downloaded zip comes back clean so i guess a false positive.
My only question now is if i delete, turn of avast, and run a new instal from downloaded zip will it still activate as in notes it says "You have to install and activate it before the Giveaway offer for the software is over".

I get an error when trying to install this software. I had previous versions that installed just fine, but not this version. I get error "Failed to Launch the Program" . I tried several times with the same error. Anyone else get this same issue/error?

Mike, if you're getting the error when you run the GOTD setup.exe, it might be antivirus software [or similar] blocking the wrapper from running. When you run setup it unencrypts / unpacks the actual setup program for Wise Care into memory, where it's run. In the past some people turned off active scanning, while others had to esort to running Windows in Safe Mode.

For those wondering about Portable Version. Go to the Burger Menu > Settings > General > Make Portable Version.

I have used this before as a portable and it works well. I downloaded and installed this version with no problem, but cannot find any portable option. Can this version be installed in standalone mode?

OK, an update. This may not be a permanent or 100% solution, but since I have received no direct response, I zipped the WiseCare365 installation folder, then uninstalled WiseCare 365 Pro with Geek Uninstaller. Then I moved the zipped file to my portable apps folder and unzipped it into a new WiseCare365 folder. I found the executable file and ran it. All seems to work just fine, now as a portable installation without registry entries.

The main 2 differences between the portable and installed GOTD version are 1) the installed version adds a folder to Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\, while the portable version puts the contents of that folder in the program's main folder, and 2), the installed version adds a registry key with the activation data for the Pro version. Both versions add several registry entries for file associations, the Explorer context menu, and a service -- the installed version also adds an uninstall key.

Have been using this for years and always try to grab it when it appears here. Never had any problems with it and the extra functionality, such as the shutdown timer I frequently use, only help to make it a must.

Perhaps it is time to consider actually buying it now? After all, the reason developers give away products for which there is usually a charge is in the hope that at least some of the gifts will be converted to purchases. (There are other less direct ways the developers derive benefit, such as feedback from users and word-of-mouth reputation-building, so the developers do allow for some of the recipients of the gifts never purchasing, but simply grabbing from year to year.)
