Hmm, reading some earlier comments, I see that it might have been my antivirus preventing the installation, although I didn't hear a peep from AVG about it. May I suggest that the readme file should contain a suggestion about temporarily suspending antivirus?

I've been using the Wise Care utilities and I like them a lot. BUT...

I belong to neither Facebook nor Google+, so I use the "email me a download link" option. Several times, the download link has come with a 404--Page not found.

More often, I can download the file, and extract it. When I click on setup.exe, I get:
--the Windows UAC window, and I click Yes
--the "Activating" little GAOTD window
--the bigger "Activation successful!" bigger GAOTD window
--the "xxx activated--what next?" GAOTD web page
but no program installation, much less activation! My normal ID is an administrator, but I tried running setup.exe as an Administrator, and the same thing happens.

This is several times now that I've missed out on some Giveaways of the Day that I've really wanted.

I've been using Wise Care Pro for years now. It does everything it's supposed to do, and then some. I can always tell the difference between my computer's performance before WCP does its job every day, and after. It gets rid of the junk and really speeds performance. I wouldn't be caught without it!

Donna Brittain,
Disable antivirus
Delete your downloaded offer
Re-download offer again
Install
Register it.
Delete setup.exe and setup.gcd files
Reactivate antivirus

Donna Brittain,
The setup program seems to trigger a number of antivirus programs and key logger programs and they stop it from running.

I have never have this problem as I use Panda cloud antivirus which is free.

Maybe worth changing your antivirus stopping any key loggers that are running.

Do hope this helps.

Looks like you get 6 months of updates, then at that point pro status remains without capability to update. So it still seems worthwhile at the moment. If it were an antivirus or firewall, I'd be more picky.

Reply   |   Comment by Therese  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-1)

There are at least two views expressed as to what happens at the end of the 6 months:
a) it reverts to the free version (experience tells me this does not clean everything that the pro version cleans)
b) you just don't get any more updates.

I love this program. Could the publisher perhaps give an answer? It would certainly help me decide whether to over-write my older version.

Back in the XP and Win 7 days we used Wise Care 365 and it worked fine, keeping two PCs in good running condition. The last two three years we just use CCleaner and it seems to be all we need. Wise Care 365, however, is certainly a good cleaner and tuner-upper especially for slower or more cluttered-up systems.

I really need help. When these types of downloads are available, I can open them. Have always just had to click on app. setup and once I was done the program would be on my desktop ready to open. Now it goes through the process and tells me it's activated but I can't find it. I go to the gcd setup (whatever that is) and open it but nothing happens. Anyone walk me through it? Thank you.

ron goodin, I might suggest that you look and see where you are downloading it. Do you have it set to dl to your desktop, or documents, or_____ , etc? You can do a general search on your computer and see if you can find it. When the dl starts, it should ask you where you'd like to save it to. Hope this helps.

Hi JollyJack :)

If you are using (one of these antiviruses) avast, avg, Kaspersky, Norton, you could try these possible solutions:
1) put the setup.exe in the whitelist of your antivirus
2) disable the real-time/on-access scanning, just the time to install the software
3) boot windows in safe mode with networking, just the time to install the software

All files were scanned with Ashampoo antivirus 2016, GridinSoft Antimalware, SuperAntiSpyware FREE, Malwarebytes AntiMalware FREE, Emsisoft EmergencyKit FREE.

This seems to be happening a lot recently when antivirus programs block it, you get this rather misleading error message.
It can also occur when blocked by anti-key loggers.

I had the lifetime version when it was offered through Giveaway of the Day but lost it when computer crashed and Windows had to be re-installed. I've been using the free version ever since. Being on a very tight social security budget I can't yet afford to purchase the lifetime version but I'm saving up for it. $60 plus is steep right now and would mean taking away from the food or medicine budget, but I'm putting a little away each month so hopefully will get there soon. This is one of the good programs that does what it says it will. I highly recommend it to anyone considering it.

Lynn, don't do it, my friend! Your computer is only a machine, but you are a human being! Prioritize your food and medicine budget! More than lightly, if you use great care and common sense, and are careful what you do with your computer including what programs you install and use, you will be fine with good quality programs like the free version of Wise.

Tata,

KD is available for one year at $20, 3 years is $40 (each license is for 1-3 pcs).

If Lynn can find a lifetime offer for Wise Care for $60., then that's the better deal. However, I didn't see that offer on the WC website.

However, I agree with Stuart, you are more important than software. My recollection is that Wise Care is decent, even in the free version. There my also be other similar free software available. Check techsupportalert . com, they may be able to help you.

Opinion:
Good program, I will be installing it...

Rant:
For many of you who are worried about that 6 months thing, it has been my experience that most of these giveaways do not stop working when they reach the time limit. They simply do what is clearly indicated when you take the time to READ... The free UPDATES will no longer install for free. That's all. Everything else will still work just fine with the last updated data. And by then, the newer version is likely to be available anyway. And, as someone else has pointed out, even if the program reverts to its free version, it is still going to provide the basic functionalities that the average consumer uses most often.
Some other commenters, who have bemoaned these limitations as less than honorable business practices, should perhaps remember that this whole concept of giving away programs was created for the sole purpose of getting you to try, love, then buy the software. Am I disappointed when one of my favorite giveaways expires? Of course I am. But I don't bitch about it to the world like an entitled valley-girl who's had her credit card suspended!

Awww... I feel better now.
Thanks for reading this far. :-)

Robert, And that may be YOUR experience, but that doesn't mean that it's everyone's. Just because we notice that there is a 6 month limitation doesn't mean that we 'bemoan the limitations as less than honorable business practices'. We are all entitled to our opinions and the right to express them within the limits of acceptance on this forum. You choice is to (as you say) "bitch" about others "bitching' and call people degrading names. Some of us prefer to give the site a reason, legit or not, as to why we are hesitant to download the software. Now.. which comments do you really think are more pertinent?

I just love this program. Been using it for years without any problems.
In the past I have always installed the program, used the "make program portable" option from within the settings menu, and then uninstalled the program again, leaving me with a portable version with all its advantages to use wherever necessary.
I have never known it to cease functioning at the end of any offer period other than,as with the current offer, the free upgrades will cease after six months.

Reply   |   Comment by bettersafethansorry  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-11)

Further to my comments above I must agree with other posters that uninstalling the original installation causes the portable version to lose its pro status. Previous experience over the years has however taught me that leaving the original installation intact does retain the pro status on both original and portable versions - even at the end of any offer period.

In my opinion this is a "must have" piece of software - combined with Ccleaner and Privazer you can't go wrong...

For those of you who are worried that it only has a six month license? If you go in settings >> general you can make a portable version that you can run from a USB stick and that will function past the six months period.

As there is no information regarding what happens when the time limit is up I'll stick with my old version.
What I like about it is the Big Files Manager, it really helps me keep my system drive as small as possible.

Regarding the time limits we see now; I've a couple of programs that inform me my subscription is up but still carry on to work normally.
It looks like they are trying to get the less experienced users to buy unnecessarily, not a business practice I like.

If I didn't have this program I would download it just for the Big Files Manager, an excellent tool.

Tata, i have kerish doctor installed and it automatically does its thing. do you think this program and kerish doctor would cause issues by being on the same computer (win 7, 64 bit). thanks.

Reply   |   Comment by hunter  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-1)

hunter,
I have Kerish Doctor and Wise Care 365 Pro (older Version V3.54) Also a few other software that are similar, Paid and Free. Both programs seem to run fine on my Win 7 Pro, 64 Bit computer, I have not come across any conflicts, but i do have Wise Care set NOT to Run on Windows Start Up, i prefer it that way, i just like to have control over it, Still Testing Kerish Doctor but all good so far.
The only advice i can give with Wise Care is the USE of the Registry Cleaner, Like any Registry Cleaner, After Scanning always check the list of problems found, and only Tick what you know, most are minor Problems, Invalid Shortcuts, ActiveX, etc But some can stop software working, computer problems caused by Deleted System Files, dll files etc, IF in doubt or don't Know what error is UNTICK and to stop it showing up Again on future Scans Right Click on each error and choose ignore this item. That way at least nothing should get messed up in the Registry, i rather have a slight error that would not really cause any real problems than deleted Registry files that belong to something important Like system Files, which will mess with Windows!!!
Also if you decide to tick something you are not sure of, don't choose fix, But exit Wise Care Create a Restore Point (reboot) Run Wise Care Registry Cleaner again and Tick the error or errors that you are not sure of (but Wanted to Fix before hand) and run Repair (or fix). Registry Repairs don't really Fix, They only DELETE the Errors that show a problem! . Now it's a very good tome to do a SFC Scan. 1. Left Click Mouse Button on Windows Start. 2. In Search Type CMD 3. CMD Box Icon, will Appear at Top of Search Box, Don't worry about other search Results. 4. Now Right Click Mouse Button On CMD Box Icon, and Choose Run As Administrator. 5. A DOS Box Type Of Window Will Appear, Now Type as Follows: sfc /scannow 6. Scan will Commence, might take awhile 5 to 10 mins, Wait for Results. 7. If You Get the Following Results Everything Should Be Good. : Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations 8. If Not Find How to Fix !!! Use the System Restore that You created before the Scan, P.S i sometimes do the SFC scan when i first turn the computer on, and before running a Registry Cleaner, to check there was not a Windows System fault before hand. The SFC scan will only check system files NOT any other problems that the Registry Cleaner may have Deleted (software files for example) at least software can be Uninstalled and reinstalled to Fix. But Damaged System Files Can be a MAJOR Problem, and is usually better to Reinstall Windows, as it usually harder to track down and fix System Files.

hunter: why would you need to have two programs of similar functionality on the same computer?

As far as seeking advice goes, what you're really doing is asking which might be the better: Kerish Doctor or Wise PRO? The answer to that is very obviously going to depend upon the kind of experience a user has had.

In my experience, Kerish Doctor leaves WiseCare PRO dead in the water -- and every other such diagnostic tool -set as well, regardless of the developer's name or provenance.

Having the inferior WiseCare running alongside the effortlessly superior Kerish would make no sense at all.

Hi MikeR. :)

Still, WiseCare365 is highly customizable, with usercustom.ini (like ccleaner with winapp2.ini), kerish doctor doesn't allow this.

Reply   |   Comment by xilolee  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-1)

MikeR, I'm not seeing any advantage of Kerish Doctor over WiseCare 365, they both seem to do the same thing, and they both have a flaw IMHO, that you can't see the pathway of the changes that are proposed. I'd like something that is more suited to the intermediate user, who might want to have more feeling of control to see the path of changes in order to verify that nothing bad is happening. WiseCare is more expensive, that's all, but I'm used to it. I don't see anything reassuring on the Kerish website.

Hi Therese :)

You can see the changes of both programs:
- WiseCare365 doesn't offer to see the changes when you are using the pc checkup, but you can see the changes when you use the features one by one
- kerish doctor will show the changes after the full scan finished

I admit I don't use them in automatic mode.

Hi gpc111 :)

The problem with older versions (for every software) is they could have unfixed bugs.
Newer versions could have fixed many bugs and could have got new functions and improved features (and new bugs, for sure...).

Yes, you'll have a time-limited PRO status for 6 months, but you will be able to upgrade the software for free in those months (actually you can't with your older giveaway version).

Anyway, your choice! ;)
