There is now a pop up on the Author's web page, giving us the registration code.
You just copy it from the web page, and paste it into the application.
(No email required)

Could not have been easier.
(Not picking on earlier posts where people are having trouble, Just saying they have now made it as simple as possible)

I couldn't get registration without deactivating Firefox Noscript-addon (JavaScript must be on) but all other information and links on their site are functional without JavaScript.

This answers perhaps #60 Ric's "answer" to my #42: "The comment is sick and typical of a fear of anything that is good but does not originate from US or Europe." Hello, Ric from C?, there is no need to be insulting!!! And I like Chinese people and have had very good friends from free part of China. And if some anonymous crew member has taken my slight hint personally I want to apologize.

But on both Digiarty Software's and DVDFab's sites all information I procured is missing. And I dislike this greatly! Please compare this behaviour e.g. to the zoner homepage (Europe) showing even pics of everybody! Many thanks to zoner!

But "Ric" is correct: I think some countries more trustworthy than others because they are free countries. Other countries aren't bound by western legislation and have another value system and not all people on this planet are nice people. And I have read a lot about government and industry computers' attacks originating "somewhere" in the east. I don't want to tell that the mentioned enterprises will do this. For me it's only personal risc management. Sorry, folks!

No 63 Dan. This has already been covered earlier. The method of registering is in the README file. Paste the given link into your browser (including Firefox) and you will get an email with the code. As the advert says "Simples!"

Hi Guys,

Tried installing twice as directed, says it has activated with GOTD but when I go to use it says its unregistered, and thus only 5 min demo.

Anyone help ?

It does a pretty good job of quickly ripping my movies into .mov and .mp4 formats. Unfortunately my Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Blu-Ray player doesn't recognize the results where it does with other rippers from GOTD. Strange.

JUNK program, tried it on 2 different DVD folders and the program crashed EVERY time. IF it can't handle a simple conversion, the it darn sure isn't going to handle a rip.

I have installed this on two _different_ computers, and I have observed a problem with the video preview window. When you play any of the video segments, the movie image seems to be playing "behind" the WinX DVD window. (Moving the WinX window leaves "residue" on the desktop.) Sound is okay. Anyone else seen this?

Otherwise, I definitely plan to give this software a good try-out. It appears to have a good variety of options.

Why the insinuation that just because this comes from China, that something is suspicious about it being given away free?

The comment is sick and typical of a fear of anything that is good but does not originate from US or Europe.

This is great software. The latest version is now converting a movie that I could NOT get to convert with previous versions, or with other products. Great job WinX team for fixing that. It also saved me when I had to reformat my PC not once... but twice. I lost Aiseesoft BlueRay Ripper in the reformats, but was able to reinstall a previous GOTD version of WinX DVD Ripper Platinum with a little patience, and it did the job well in that time. The user interface is a little busier than that of Aiseesoft products, but this is definitely a powerful program with plenty of options for ripping and converting. I highly recommend this if you can grab it while it's free, it has been a life saver for me.

I like WinX DVD Ripper Platinum. I've used it for a few years now, since it's given away for free frequently. But I have to say it comes up short compared to Aiseesoft Total Media Converter. Not only does WinX not support as many output formats, but it's slower:
WinX: 38 minutes to rip a 2 hr 12 min DVD (4 cores running)
Aiseesoft: 29 minutes for the same DVD

I LOVE this particular GAOTD. I don't know why it happened to disappear from my computer a little while ago (I think I went crazy in the add/remove and accidentally un-installed it). But, THANK YOU GAOTD for re-releasing it. I think it has THE BEST user-interface of any DVD RIpping software I have seen so far!

Hmmmm. It doesn't look like I can BURN the movie I am ripping to another dvd with this software. I guess I need to open another different software program for that. Why? It's a good program otherwise, if you want to just have an ISO to take to another program, or to rip to a digital format. But I would have liked the ability to burn to a DVD. The program doesn't seem complete without that option.

Thank you though. I will probably use it for the mobile stuff. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I could burn to a dvd after choosing to pick out the previews I don't want, the nag screens, the 32 company logo animations, etc before I burn.

#1 &2- Sure,go ahead and keep your video and photos of HD's. That way when-not if-you suffer a catastrophic HD failure, you can (as I'll be doing soon)spend hundreds of dollars to attempt to recover something.
I've been doing this long enough to have had multiple drive failures, both internal and external drives. Plus, how long do you think the formats in use today will be viable? I've got lots of old computer games that will die when my last 5 1/4 floppy drive bites the dust. Physical media may not be truly archival, but it's a far side more reliable than any consumer grade HD. And,speaking of dodos, I've easily printed film negatives my father shot in the 1940's, and regularly play LP's I bought as a teen.(I'm 62).Heck, I can still play my grandmothers 78's,tho they're admitadly pretty scratchy-those steel needled Victrolas were pretty much brute force playback. Every format has good and bad aspects, including the current ones.

Have the program be able to retain the AV setting the user has changed/set and/or be able to edit and save as new custom AV settings/profiles.

Registration was easy - although I think GAOTD should stop popping up the "successfully activated" screen when it is not. Follow the link in the readme.txt file and you'll get the Registration code.

Not so sure about the multi-core utilization. Conversion takes about 1/2 of the movie time regardless of the setting on my Quad Core (although I did not try the single core option)

Successfully backed up a new movie I had to a high quality .avi
Looks perfect!
Been using Digiarty products for years - although their interfaces always look outdated, the products work well.

This program will remove protections and back up your DVD to popular file types, and there is an option to create an .ISO - but I have not tested it, and I know some programs on some DVDs make a less than usable file because of the copy protection. If you're creating a relatively non-lossy file, it may be good to use your burning software to convert it back to DVD.

I have a Samsung Series 7 LCD HD TV and a Samsung Blu-ray player that accepts USB sticks. I save ALL my movies (with their subtitles) in HD MP4 format and the image is just perfect! It works 99% of the time when copied to USB's. Copying the MP4's to DVD's, and watching them on the blu-ray player works 95% of the time.

I would rather see an all in one package that covers all the options that most people would need when backing up their DVD's etc
