My best advice is that if your PC works well, don't use that kind of program that will mess with the register...it is asking for trouble.

I had only but troubles with this kind of software, whatever their advertisment says. Windows is perfectly capable of taking care of itself, that is the job of all the Microsoft engineers.

If your car runs well, do you ask your mechanic to disassemble the engine, throw away a few pieces, rebuilt the engine and hope it will run a few km/h faster ?

    Franky,

Well, yes and no. I do take my car in for maintenance. The developer's idea of what's junk and yours may, of course, differ. In my case, it trashed my jump lists (though I had a backup), but it also found 3gb of iPhone-related junk I no longer need, as I switched to Android a couple years ago. Did my computer run faster or better? Not at all. Did it fix a persistent issue? No, didn't do that, either. Is it, like Glary Utilities, a decent central repository for system maintenance tools? Yes, it seems to be.

Another system cleaner, similar to Glary Utilities. Installed fine, ran fine, and almost no problems afterwards, except that it deleted my jump lists, even though I set the options to NOT delete jump lists.

Because I regularly back up jump lists, this was not a big deal, but it is a bug in the program that the developers should note and that jump list users should be aware of.

A lot of hoops to register. For those having trouble open the read me file & then cut and paste the page where you have to input your email. Then you get an email then you have to click the link in the email. Sign up and THEN you get the license number. Painful. And while I install most programs especially utilities this one is almost useless. It claims to repair windows - really? It's not useless, but it doesn't repair much in windows. Instead it offers to do a system scan. I much prefer Windows Repair ( free) at Tweaking.com They have a pro version, but no need. I had issues with no sound on Youtube & it fixed it in the background in 1 hr.

1.The program is unergonomic. For example, the scan results window is divided in half - half is taken by the window with the details of errors/junk found, but they do not fit in the whole window and you have to scroll horizontally. The other half of the window is occupied by large fonts in the middle of that half of the window describing how many MBs and registry entries the program has found, as if that data could not be presented in a smaller form, and the more important, detailed data in a larger window. Maximizing the results window does not help at all.
    2. The uninstallation is a horror, it takes far too long. Idiotic message about having to restart, which according to the message will happen when you press OK. If I press Cancel (because I don't want a restart), the program aborts the uninstallation and... reinstalls itself?

I use WiseCare 365 and even after running this program, cleaning all the items that WiseCare looks for, and WiseCare still found a whole lot that this program missed.

"WiseCare still found a whole lot that this program missed."

Any software can write anything anywhere in Windows registry, so unless you monitor every install & keep those records it's almost impossible to determine every registry entry that's safe to remove. Because of that, apps that *clean* the registry are restricted to looking for orphans -- entries that point to something else that does not exist -- and optionally lists of common problems the developer has compiled. They also exclude many types of registry entries that the developer feels can sometimes be unsafe to delete. WiseCare may just be less conservative than WinSysClean when it comes to what the dev feels is always safe. If WiseCare doesn't break your system they may be correct -- if something breaks, then obviously they're not.

If we already have Ccleaner (FREE) is this needed?

Just an update on a previous comment. I ran two uninstallers & a reg cleaner but couldn't find any files left over from the previous installation. Yet still I get the same error message, that previous installation package can't be found.
So it will not go any further than uninstall old version. a brick wall.

skreama, Hi, please search in registry for WinSysClean and remove all entries, then try to install again. This happens when you have uninstallers which are blocking the correct installation/uninstallation of the software.

Poor information. Refuses to install - only works on 64-bit-systems. No such restriction is mentioned in the system requirements, however. :((

Had to install 2x but worked 2nd time. Ran this program and immediately went to browser cache--still had 52 mb of data and cookies to clear. Not so sure this will clean out computer usage like it claims to do.

Reply   |   Comment by seagrape  –  3 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

seagrape, That 52mb of data is probably left rom a few GBs of cleaned files, and that is the index of the cache and history which must not be deleted! A good cleaner does not erase all your files, it keeps the important files.

No problems downloading, installing and registering. Not so keen on the UI, looks a bit dated, but a guy can live with that. Seems to a decent job, found plenty of junk and removed it. Registry cleaned said it found a few issues, after backing up the registry (good practice before making changes) it didn't cause any problems. Overall, a guy is quite pleased with todays download and will keep using. By the way, make sure you disable the update checker.

    greg,
I have tried to install direct from their site. Won't install.
I have tried revo uninstaller. It cannot locate the program.
As I have previously stated the installation is looking for me to uninstall a previous version that I do not have anymore. Hence the reg cleaner. So I have reached impasse.
Thank you guys for your tips.

Something else about the giveaway .
Installed under Windows XP Pro 32bit without a problem , but
when I tried to run the program I've got an error message that It
requires an 64bit O.S. in order to work .
This requirement is not mentioned in the blue info box on this page .

"I have an old version on my pc which I keep being asked to uninstall."

After performing a backup that you know you can restore, start Regedit [search or type regedit in Run box] and search for the program's name. Normally if you remove [delete] the uninstall key(s) software won't know there is a previous copy installed, so no more warnings.

"I cannot uninstall it as the set up file was deleted years ago"

TK's method usually works, though you might have to do the previous step to get the installer to run. Otherwise *you can try* removing any folders with the app's name -- be sure to include in the user folders, Common Files folder(s), & ProgramData folder -- then after backing up search the registry and delete keys or entries that include the program's name.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  3 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

skreama, there is a freeware uninstaller HiBit Uninstaller (no associations with developer), that will do a forced uninstall of software and does a clean up of all leftovers. Or if you are an experienced user you could always use the REGEDIT command to manually find and remove the keys, then delete the folder containing the program, but only do this after you have backed up your registry first and are sure of what you are doing. Don't attempt this method unless 100% confident of what you are doing.

krypteller , You're right. However I didn't consider a system restore as I've never had to do anything like that after such a cleaning. But because I've heard of such things happening in comparable softwares I wanted to be sure that I wouldn't have to do that becuase a system restore is dangerous by itself too in my opinion.

Reply   |   Comment by Paweł  –  3 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-5)

Paweł, Use Tweaking.com Repair freeware which creates a backup copy of your Reqistry each time / day you boot your computer. I also have a 2nd hard drive which I use to clone and re-clone my Win 7 hard drive every few months. Maybe I am too paranoid about losing my stuff, but 5 years ago, I had to spend about 40 hours restoring all my software and tweaking my system back to what I had before using some utility that destroyed my Win operating system.

Probably you don't care about stupid things like comments votes, but I just wanted to say thank you for being on here and answering questions.
