My best advice is that if your PC works well, don't use that kind of program that will mess with the register...it is asking for trouble.

I had only but troubles with this kind of software, whatever their advertisment says. Windows is perfectly capable of taking care of itself, that is the job of all the Microsoft engineers.

If your car runs well, do you ask your mechanic to disassemble the engine, throw away a few pieces, rebuilt the engine and hope it will run a few km/h faster ?

    Franky,

Well, yes and no. I do take my car in for maintenance. The developer's idea of what's junk and yours may, of course, differ. In my case, it trashed my jump lists (though I had a backup), but it also found 3gb of iPhone-related junk I no longer need, as I switched to Android a couple years ago. Did my computer run faster or better? Not at all. Did it fix a persistent issue? No, didn't do that, either. Is it, like Glary Utilities, a decent central repository for system maintenance tools? Yes, it seems to be.

Another system cleaner, similar to Glary Utilities. Installed fine, ran fine, and almost no problems afterwards, except that it deleted my jump lists, even though I set the options to NOT delete jump lists.

Because I regularly back up jump lists, this was not a big deal, but it is a bug in the program that the developers should note and that jump list users should be aware of.

A lot of hoops to register. For those having trouble open the read me file & then cut and paste the page where you have to input your email. Then you get an email then you have to click the link in the email. Sign up and THEN you get the license number. Painful. And while I install most programs especially utilities this one is almost useless. It claims to repair windows - really? It's not useless, but it doesn't repair much in windows. Instead it offers to do a system scan. I much prefer Windows Repair ( free) at Tweaking.com They have a pro version, but no need. I had issues with no sound on Youtube & it fixed it in the background in 1 hr.

1.The program is unergonomic. For example, the scan results window is divided in half - half is taken by the window with the details of errors/junk found, but they do not fit in the whole window and you have to scroll horizontally. The other half of the window is occupied by large fonts in the middle of that half of the window describing how many MBs and registry entries the program has found, as if that data could not be presented in a smaller form, and the more important, detailed data in a larger window. Maximizing the results window does not help at all.
    2. The uninstallation is a horror, it takes far too long. Idiotic message about having to restart, which according to the message will happen when you press OK. If I press Cancel (because I don't want a restart), the program aborts the uninstallation and... reinstalls itself?

"WiseCare still found a whole lot that this program missed."

Any software can write anything anywhere in Windows registry, so unless you monitor every install & keep those records it's almost impossible to determine every registry entry that's safe to remove. Because of that, apps that *clean* the registry are restricted to looking for orphans -- entries that point to something else that does not exist -- and optionally lists of common problems the developer has compiled. They also exclude many types of registry entries that the developer feels can sometimes be unsafe to delete. WiseCare may just be less conservative than WinSysClean when it comes to what the dev feels is always safe. If WiseCare doesn't break your system they may be correct -- if something breaks, then obviously they're not.

So it will not go any further than uninstall old version. a brick wall.

Had to install 2x but worked 2nd time. Ran this program and immediately went to browser cache--still had 52 mb of data and cookies to clear. Not so sure this will clean out computer usage like it claims to do.

Reply   |   Comment by seagrape  –  7 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

seagrape, That 52mb of data is probably left rom a few GBs of cleaned files, and that is the index of the cache and history which must not be deleted! A good cleaner does not erase all your files, it keeps the important files.

No problems downloading, installing and registering. Not so keen on the UI, looks a bit dated, but a guy can live with that. Seems to a decent job, found plenty of junk and removed it. Registry cleaned said it found a few issues, after backing up the registry (good practice before making changes) it didn't cause any problems. Overall, a guy is quite pleased with todays download and will keep using. By the way, make sure you disable the update checker.

Poking around the windows registries can always be dangerous if you do not know what you are cleaning. Many software install under one name, but register under different name and it is easy to make a mistake and delete valid registration keys.

Also, may portable software just enter an empty key in the registry that is used only to verify the legitimacy of the portable install and if deleted, it may disable the software.

Furthermore, cleaning inside "c:\user\apps..." can trigger or disable the functionalities of the installed software and so on.

If you are not sure what you are doing, please do not use this software.

    bob, Reading all of this:

They created software which can cause all of this. Microsoft created the most common Windows 95, 98, XP, Windows 7, Windows 10. All people over the world fight agains each other which one was the best. What is the problem for someone to use this software when he does have money to buy the new Windows which is just being made which was not going to be created ? For someone who wants to have his pc for 10 years it's forbidden to use such software. Am I right ?

bob, Hi, We are developing this software since 1998 and we know what we are doing! That's why WinSysClean is published in all the major German magazines since 2001 every year!

Paweł, You are partially right, windows software used to very buggy in the old days, therefore win 10 created 11 windows hives called windows registries that are not supposed to be disrupted with cleaning mechanism or removing entries without full understanding of why they are removed. Most of the win 10 registries are for historical views and do not create anything bad to the operation of win 10, think of it as a d-base of archives and entries that do not do any harm and are only accessed when needed and are never loaded into the day's session when booted, therefore the performance is not hindered by the win 10 registry entries and it is not expected to boost the performance of win 10 if some of them are removed.

Reply   |   Comment by bob  –  7 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Ultimate Systems, thanks for the reply, we appreciate what you are developing to improve the operating system an appreciate your software issued in any language. My concern is this:
    a) Claiming improvements in speed of the OS by removing entries in the win registries.
Lots of software developers have used that expression to sell software to the lame persons.

    b) I have never measured any improvements in the speed of the OS deleting d-base entries.

    c) Cleaning the start-up menu on entries that are not active at the moment (disabled by the user) will
make the software that depends on those pre-loaded drivers useless the next time the user wants to activate the feature of that software. Example, some software needs VSS pre-loaded every time the software is called to
do the job, if they are disabled of the preloading, they will stop functioning. I can numerate over one hundred drivers (pre-loaded drivers) that are not needed for that session, but next time if the software you like to use can not find those pre-loaded drivers will give an error or create blue screen and the OS will crash.

My comments are based on experience and bench tests and are not meant to create any negative comment against your company, like I said, we appreciate your software as is, I just want to warn the users not to expect "miracle cure" for their computer by removing entries in the OS. Most computer slowness is based on incompatibilities of the installed drivers, memory timing, HD issues or heat problems.

"may portable software just enter an empty key in the registry that is used only to verify the legitimacy of the portable install and if deleted, it may disable the software. "

Then by definition it's Not portable software. :)

"If you are not sure what you are doing, please do not use this software."

Perform a disk/partition image backup, which you should be doing anyway, and the Only risk is the time it takes to restore that backup. Nothing ventured nothing gained -- no risk no reward etc.

skreama, lost setup packages is often a side effect/colateral damage of these and other windows cleaners/repairers where they may offer to remove the MSI packages without informing the end user that doing so will make it impossible to use the installed packages/programs in the future using programs and features.
In those circumstances appart from attempting to brute force manually uninstalling the programs as potential solution is to find an installer for the same version and re-install it and then uninstall it using that procedures uninstaller.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  7 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

"I have an old version on my pc which I keep being asked to uninstall."

After performing a backup that you know you can restore, start Regedit [search or type regedit in Run box] and search for the program's name. Normally if you remove [delete] the uninstall key(s) software won't know there is a previous copy installed, so no more warnings.

"I cannot uninstall it as the set up file was deleted years ago"

TK's method usually works, though you might have to do the previous step to get the installer to run. Otherwise *you can try* removing any folders with the app's name -- be sure to include in the user folders, Common Files folder(s), & ProgramData folder -- then after backing up search the registry and delete keys or entries that include the program's name.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  7 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

skreama, there is a freeware uninstaller HiBit Uninstaller (no associations with developer), that will do a forced uninstall of software and does a clean up of all leftovers. Or if you are an experienced user you could always use the REGEDIT command to manually find and remove the keys, then delete the folder containing the program, but only do this after you have backed up your registry first and are sure of what you are doing. Don't attempt this method unless 100% confident of what you are doing.

Paweł, the software offers you first to make a system restore, so if everything goes wrong you can repair the damage. You can select every action by hand. So you can just start with actions you feel confident about. Like clearing the waste basket. Like its sibling that was offered recently, it is not portable, but you can use the programme folder as a semi-portable.
In a way, it is comparable to Wise Care 365, that was given away some time ago. I use that regularly.

But because I've heard of such things happening in comparable softwares I wanted to be sure that I wouldn't have to do that becuase a system restore is dangerous by itself too in my opinion.

Paweł, Use Tweaking.com Repair freeware which creates a backup copy of your Reqistry each time / day you boot your computer. I also have a 2nd hard drive which I use to clone and re-clone my Win 7 hard drive every few months. Maybe I am too paranoid about losing my stuff, but 5 years ago, I had to spend about 40 hours restoring all my software and tweaking my system back to what I had before using some utility that destroyed my Win operating system.
