Win PDF Editor is a Windows PDF editing software product that lets you modify and edit PDF documents like adding text, insert images, removing unwanted content, drawing lines and rotating PDF pages. If you write text on the PDF, you can change the text font, size, color and move it to anywhere you want on the page.

After inserting an image into PDF, you can resize the image and move it also. If you find some words or images need to be removed, simply use the eraser tool to erase. Better than other PDF Reader applications, Win PDF Editor can permanently save the edited PDF content changes in PDF.

Works really well for touchups. Can create boxes and erase areas, treating PDF files with text embeded (bad OCR) like images. Makes re-running OCR in Abbyy easier with ability to remove lines and shadows; and other markings that shouldn't be there and screw up even the best OCR dictionaries.

#24 devnullius - If what you want to do is fill out a form, not change what is already there, you can use one of these:

Nitro PDF Reader - easy to use, can also create PDFs
http://www.nitroreader.com/

PDF-XChange Viewer - more editing functions (OCR, graphics, stamps, etc)
http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer

These both work like putting a paper form in a typewriter - you can add text or graphics, but not change existing text or graphics.

PDFCool-PDF-Editor may be free to download and install.

However, when you actually try to USE it to edit text in the PDF document.

A pop-up box appears telling you that "This function is not available" and that in order to have this function, you need to BUY the PDF Cool Studio software.

Agree with Ashraf that this is not a solid PDF editor.

And why throw in a converter when the software name is "Editor".

Perhaps software developer realised that the Editor part is inferior.

So to make the customer happy, they threw in the kitchen sink.

For simple text editing in an existing PDF file, take a look at the free edition of PDF Xchange Editor.

Initially I was rather pleased with today's offering in that it offered the ability to change the text in a PDF document.
Further examination showed that the text I added was in fact a graphical representation of text and hence not searchable!

A few months ago Adobe put links to their CS2 versions of their programs and associated serial numbers on their website without any restrictions on who could download.
Shortly afterwards they appeared to change their mind and put conditions on the download.
The question now is, is it legal to download these programs, the following link discusses this and it also has the links and serial numbers on the same page.
The link is as follows:-
http://www.xyclopsoft.com/blog/2013/01/07/get-free-adobe-cs2/

Adobe Acrobat 8Pro is included and is probably best free way you will find of editing a PDF file.

You could just use Zamzar to convert PDF to any format you need. For free.

http://www.zamzar.com/

However you convert it though, if it's an image saved as a PDF ( even if it looks like text) you'll ALWAYS need OCR functionality to extract and edit the words.

Also something I’m seeking for quite some time now… A free, locally installed, good PDF Editor.

Well, skip the “good”. I’d be happy with an editor to begin with. NOT to create and edit new pdf documents, but to edit existing PDF documents… Pain in the ass, I did not manage it yet.

(As you might know, usually Giovanni’s lists go on and on and on… Not this time! It truly is hard to find one and I was curious what he would have to offer.)

“If you want to use a real FREE PDF editor, try this FREE GEM:

Full Tutorial:

Or just convert your PDF into WORD using this magic FREE tool:

Enjoy!

So very happy I went on to his mentioned sites – but nothing! I do not want an online tool, nor do I want to convert. I want to EDIT. LOCALLY. GRMBL. Why is this so hard?? :(

Maximus (http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/win-pdf-editor-2-0-4/#comment-380863) leads us to http://www.pdfill.com/freewriter.html – looks promissing.

But after looking at the details, again, they do not seem to be PDF Editors (without limitations). Many options are possible, but I just want to edit a PDF form companies send once in a while… Fill in my name and save it, just like a regular doc. Without printing and scanning again :(

Somebody who can help me? For I, again, have to give up :(

If I find something, I’ll update my article here: http://goo.gl/EWUKG5 . Currently, it’s only a copy paste of this comment here @GOTD

… Peace!

I added text to the document, changed the font and font size, used the freehand, the eraser and deleted the text I inserted. All worked well.

I USUALLY TRUST SOFTPEDIA EDITOR more than ordinary GAOTD users like you...how about you, MAN?

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/PDF/PDFCool-PDF-Editor.shtml (EDITOR'S RATING: 5.0/5)

The real question is: does it EDIT the text of PDF files really for FREE?

Yes, it does...so what?

Very confusing GUI? It took me 10 min to understand it.

If you are not good enough to understand a SW like this it's your fault and not its fault...LOL!

Dude it's FREE ...you can't have everything on a silver plate without spending at least some minutes of your time.

I deal in a lot of pdf conversions and the watermark function in this program is exactly what I have been looking for. Mixed with the other tools it makes a good addition to my PDF toolbox.

Thumbs Up!

Todays GOTD appears to be [only] a basic PDF editor, and I found myself searching for more 'standard' features usually found in PDF packages. Although a clean GUI [Graphical User Interface], many tools necessary were lacking, and I would rather have one program that does it all, rather than several smaller ones, that not always play well together.
As a result, I will have to pass on today's offer, as it falls [too] short when compared to my favorite; PDFill PDF Editor, Tools and Writer, a pretty tough cookie to beat. [XPsp2 tested] [Win7 tested]

#11 Harry. So does the majority of software offered here and off the shelf. My pet peeve is when you tell it to install ONLY on D and it still puts stuff on your C drive (and not just registry entries). Just sayin... At least it G's 1st suggestion doesn't try to install BHO's and crapware. From what I seen, nor does this offer. Thanks GOTO.

did some highlighting here,some drawing there,some coloring,etc....

Test result:
What?
no UNDO function supported??
Not even using CTRL-Z ???

THUMBS DOWN!! - immediately uninstalled!

This feature is essential in every soft, be it PDF, image or text-editors, even m$oft's humble Notepad and/or Paint do support this function.....

#7 Giovanni :
The PDFCool editor link looked good at first but I could bot find the freeware suggested within the 3,623 items offered for sale.

I like your posts, everybody does, but a link to a Freeware site offering 3,623 items for sale to wade through is not what we have come to get from you.

Maybe it wasn't 3,623 at all. Maybe I am exaggerating a bit like this...

#7 Giovanni :
The PDFCool editor not only has a very confusing interface, but it also installs itself as the PDF viewer without asking for permission.
It also has no entry in Programs and Features, so to get rid of it one has to manually scan the disk and registry and delete all items.
I recommend not touching PDFCool.

It seems to do a lot of things but one feature is missing that that is to crop pages.
This is a useful feature when you scan pages from a book and convert them into a pdf file. Often the scanned page needs to be cropped to remove any unwanted part of the page.

As rightly noted by Ashraf this GAOTD is more an image editor that supports PDFs than a PDF editor in the proper sense of the word.

It was given away here several times in the past and honestly it's very sad to see that its developer did nothing to turn it into a real PDF editor (so I wonder why keep on calling it "Win PDF Editor").

Installed and registered on a Win 8.1 64 bit system without problems.

The software does, what it claims. Tested with several .pdf documents with mixed test and picture pages.

Strange... Acrobat XI Pro claims that there "are errors on the page. This page could not displayed correctly". But it shows, when stored as a .jpg file the original page with the embedded new text made from the Win PDF editor.

The PDF Impress, GAOTD from december 2013, does not claim errors on the page and shows the page with the added text.

Watermark works without problems and the other basic features, too, which I could test.

As a free software today surely a good and simple editor to modify .pdf files in a limited way. But I would not pay for this software.

Thanks GOATD and Winpdfeditor

Does. Not. Work. I tried converting .pdf documents to .doc, .rtf, and .txt formats. Word 2010, Wordpad, and Notepad, could not open the output. This program may be able to alter .pdf documents as claimed, but that's of little use to me. Uninstalled.

Tested on a simple PDF file that consisted of a few graphics and accompanying text.
In the editor it appears that to change text you erase and then add, it did not appear possible to edit or change the font of the original text.
Some drawing tools are available as is the ability to add graphics, in essence quite a handy little editor.
Converting the same document presented no problems my only complaint being that the lines of text were in text boxes.
Regarding converting I still prefer to convert the file into an image and then do an OCR on it using ABBYY Finereader.

A useful PDF tool which I'll be keeping.

Rendering seems good on a couple of simple trials.

Attempting to edit an image based pdf was unsatisfactory. The program should distinguish between text based (editable) and image based (non editable) pdf's.

Attempting to add text to an image based pdf overlaid a vertical string of characters.

Adding an image in a blank area was successful: image resizing is allowed.

It seems not possible to consolidate an action with, say, 'ESC'- you're left with the cursor related to the function you last chose until you choose a new function.

"Are you sure to exit?" is the typical Chinglish ungrammatical version of 'Are you sure you want to exit?'

This feels like the early stages of what could be a good program.

Pros
*Has two parts, a PDF editor and a PDF converter
*PDF editor lets you erase PDF contents, add text, add images, draw on PDFs, and more
*PDF converter lets you convert PDFs to DOC, RTF, TXT, JPG, TIF, BMP, GIF, PNG, HTML, and SWF

Cons
*WinPDFEditor’s editor is more an image editor that supports PDFs than an PDF editor
*WinPDFEditor’s converter has poor conversion quality for PDF to DOC/RTF

Free Alternatives
LibreOffice Draw or InkScape (PDF editing)
UniPDF (PDF converting to DOC/RTF/HTML/Images)
