Interesting thing. I've connected to web-site over VPN with IPsec encryption. But "site," wrote that my connection is " unprotected" .

Late here to comment. 6 months of VPN looked like a good offer but unfortunately it's alpha quality. I tested it for 2 days. I've had app crashes when trying to connect certain VPN server. What is even worse today I woke up seeing that WHOAMI VPN got disconnected from my preffered server and instead of reconnecting\picking different server\disconnect from internet at all - this awful software just acted like there was no VPN at all.

Ok guys, got it working. What I did was using the text file that you downloaded. Copy and paste that link in your browser. Fill in the short form to receive your key, while you wait for your key to arrive in your email, go to this site and register. Type in the code you received in the top column of registration form and submit. When you run VPN software and log in, the software will be activated.

How is this better than something like Windscribe VPN which offers 10 Gb a month free (more for a fee)?

Is it better? Cheaper? Faster? I don't get it. You normally have to pay for the add-on??

I mostly use a VPN to watch Youtubes which are blocked in my country. Never used the full amount.

My installation didn't come with a username or password and it refused to set up my account even though I received an activation code via gmail. Used the website to request a new password, but haven't received a reply.

Why this has to be so f***ing difficult to install I don't know.

bad developed vpn, msi crash on installation. "Could not access network location -\ please people stay away from these gifts.

Reply   |   Comment by patyschneider  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

patyschneider, i had no trouble installing, running, connecting. But then the .msi did not "crash on installation" forme, but rather installed nicely and promptly. Followedtheir rather byzantine instructions, got my code, opened my account, got verified and online just like ("snap") that. Don't know what protection it's actually giving me. I picked US server and got connected somewhere on the West Coast (they show you on a map). But there's virtually no configuration or preferences....

The following websites review, compare, rate/rank, and choose "the best" from VPN service(s) in different categories (depending upon your primary intentions for using one) from among the more well-known titles:

Formerly "The Sweet Home", this website is also a great go-to resource for choosing/buying a wide variety of consumer things (best lawnmower, knives, apps, phones, services, gadgets --- you name it):

https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-vpn-service/

This website offers perhaps the most complete comparison charts regarding the world of VPN services (185 titles listed in the detailed table!):

https://thatoneprivacysite.net/vpn-section/

In addition to chosing what they consider "the best" for different purposes (perhaps ensuring that each major player is awarded a blue ribbon among various categories?), this website offers several useful tutorial-overview articles:

https://www.cloudwards.net/vpn/

Today's WhoAmI giveaway may be great in comparison to the more established players, but they would likely gain more credibility if they "got on the radar" and became among the listed titles on those websites. (Or at least they might size up their own capabilities against those other services so as to improve their offered product.)

Hope this is helpful to someone.

WhoAmI VPN Twitter account posted in 2017 that the service is in beta, I believe this service is free because they are testing it and not because they mining cryptocurrency as some people here claim without any evidence. No antivirus detects anything bad on the software.

It is normal for your desktop computer to have 20% or 30% CPU, it depends on many factors, it doesn´t mean you have a virus. Anyway domain name is registered to "Solid Oak Software" a USA company, the wayback machine on WhoAmI shows that 10 years ago Solid Oak Software was already using that domain name to sell their products.

It doesn´t look like a bad offer, the only thing is that you will be testing their product, and this explains why so few users at the moment as they launched recently.

The freebie browser Opera has a built-in VPN service without traffic or speed restrictions.

Reply   |   Comment by Jake  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+50)

Jake, I was told by a reputable computer-repair-service I have a contract with (cough cough), that Opera's VPN is not a real VPN like the ones you can buy.

Reply   |   Comment by Jeff Starke  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Jake, Opera's VPN is not really a proper VPN, just a proxy. And it's certainly not private given they collect and sell the data transmitted via it.

Jake, Opera browser owners is a Chinese company, do you really want to trust your privacy to China?

JB, Oh heck yea!!! They are much more trustworthy than American companies or the US Government. Maybe I even get free chop suey.

JB, Opera browser isn't a Chinese company, it's a Norgewian company with its headquarter in Oslo.

Reply   |   Comment by Jake  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Jake, The Chinese bought Opera years ago, you missed the news. But yes, headquarters are in Oslo, they are still owned by China.

After the connection, you can not open sites and YouTube.
After the connection, the load on the video card increased to 30%. It looks like a miner cryptocurrency, no?

TK, You are right. I do not know, how fast their connection is per server. Or how many connections they have per server.
But I assume, that one connection can handle 100 person's with 100Mbit.
First come, first serve? or FUP; that I also don't know.
When I tested it today, it took a long time to get a connection with 2 server's.
I also tested a free VPN-server and that took just 1 sec, to get a connection.
Until Oct I also did had a abbo with another firm and also that one was faster in connection than the GOTD-program of today.
I just looked at their site and there were 3Tb uploaded and 0.250Tb downloaded
