I never could get this to run right. The instructions are for those that can get it to work without any instructions.

Very poor job - good idea but it needs someone who will insist on seeing the program run before releasing it.

I tried all the suggestions given here but I am still unable to register this software.
I can´t find any .conf file or key file.
Will I ever be able to use this program?

To Jan Roolvink, yes you did do something wrong, you didn't read the instructions in the readme.

To GiveAway: I've ben looking for something like this for a long time so that I can listen to some online radio streams in my car. I could never figure out how to get it until now. What an intelligent way to do it, just use winpcap to 'steal' the stream data. Simple, yet effective.

22 dec I downloaded "Web Stream Recorder Pro", but there was no possibility to activate or registrate: there was no activate.exe in the giveaway software. 3 files: Setup.exe, readme.txt and wsrecorder.cfg
I tried several times without result.
Did I something wrong?

Install/UNZIP the program and set it up. One computer I had to use WIN-RAR, my other computer unzipped no problem.

The CFG file that CAME WITH the download has to be PASTED OVER (Overwritten) the the CFG thats in the PROGRAM FILES. The clue here is that the cfg in the program files is 507 bytes and the cfg file that comes with the download is 537 bytes.

You simply open up the program files, you will see a list of apps within that main file. Look for the cfg file thats in there, now take the OTHER cfg that COMES WITH the installer and PASTE it OVER that cfg file. Close everything up and then reopen the program.

Hint... you might have to create a shortcut on your desktop for the program.

I installed on two computers, first one I had difficulty pasting..it would not take. Then I just shut it down and restarted the program and then it took.

My second computer, pasted/file overwrote the cfg, close all windows and then it works.

Please do not swear, GOTD is offering these for free. Would you rather they give you none? Here are the instructions:

1. Install Web Stream Recorder Pro
2. Move the .cfg file to where you installed Web Stream Recorder Pro
3. Open Web Stream Recorder Pro

=)

The first download wouldn't register so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Make sure to UNCHECK THE "RUN WSRP NOW" box at the end of installing . . . After that everything was fine . . .

I agree this time that it is a bit confusing. However, I believe it is because the use the default installer from the s/w produce; it shouldn't be run by default after installation.

#74, the key is a .cfg file which is in the archive you've downloaded, it doesn't disappear at all. You need to install the software, close it, copy this file into program's directory, that's it- software should be registered.

Just rename this .swf into .flv, or define the name and extension when you start recording.
MP3/wma radio is intercepted just like FLV.

I have downloaded and installed the program with out any problems. I can't get it to record anything. I have tried to record from Youtube but it doesn't work. I downloaded the viewer program that is recomended but the file is being saved as a .swf file and not a .flv file. I am using IE 7 and windows media player 11, could this be the problem. Also how do I just record audio? IE:radio broadcasts over the internet

Diana - and I don't understand why YOU don't understand that sometimes people have problems with software. I have tried registering this piece of software twice and cannot do it. The key briefly flashes and disappears. The files that are required to be in the folder are there, but still I cannot get this registered. I would appreciate help with this, but time is moving on. This software is particularly difficult. I have XP Pro and I am computer literate. Too bad that I'll probably miss this one.

I have download your stuff in the pasted & never had a problem. Today I got this error when I tried to run the setup.exe file.

Activation module failed to connect to giveawayoftheday.com. Software activation is not possible at the moment. Please try again later or check your firewall settings.

I have tried this several times & still get the above error. Also, I have never had a problem with my firewall & your site before.

What do I do?

Thanks!

Phil, there is a .cfg file inside the archive you've downloaded. Copy that file into the folder where WSPR is installed. That file is a key file which will register your software.

This is great plan for developers and end users alike. Thanks for the web stream recording software its very useful!

Maybe a good give away for some upcoming day would be a type of n00b traffic limiter. You know like a filter that can detect the technical skills of incoming visitors and redirect traffic that would cause a n00b overload. Perhaps the alternative page for this traffic could be something educational about whatever topic they just got filtered out of. Yeah! That's it! That way its still n00b friendly by helping them get past the filter next time around...if they pay attention.

I didn't seem to experience any of the installation or in-program problems that everyone else has. Then again, I read all the problems that people wrote about before installing the program and worked around them. Always good to read up on what you are about to do.

Although I don't really feel this is much of a big jump from the programs I already have to perform this function, at least it beats recording audio and video in two seperate programs. While I'm not ecstatic about it, at least it helps. I think some improvements could be done on it though. (Especially the installation process. I guess it really confounds people.)

Has anyone else tried recording a slingplayer (slingbox) feed? As I said in post 8-9 I can get the video to work, but there's no audio. I'm curious to see if anyone else has the same problem or if it is a mistake I'm making on my end.

As far as the registration problem goes, I had the same problem the first time around. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and followed the directions to the letter and now it works fine. I *think* the problem may be that the software tries to run itself right after install. Try unchecking the "run WSRP now" box at the end of the install process. It's possible that the program registration only works if you drop the activation file into the program folder before the first time the program executes.

Cool, I asked for something like this for Christmas, not that I expected to get it, but now I have something else to play with and maybe I won't have to purchase the competitor I had in mind. :-) Unfortunately, I don't have time to try it now, but at least I can install it and try it later!

#1... GAOTD, THANKS for posting the link directly to the forum for this topic! It isn't always that clear which forum to post in, so that helps a lot. I will leave many comments there next. Please do this everytime :-)

AW... you have to log into the forums to post? Now I know why folks post here instead :-P sigh. Waiting for my password email, now (It's definitely not instant send. Hooray it finally arrived!).

Thanks for all of your efforts to bring us free software!
