I'll stick with the older version with lifetime activation thank you. Mind you it's a perfectly capable editor in free edition... Just the workflow is not always ideal and one cannot seem to go back when creating slideshows and adjust the slide durations or transitions once you've applied the wizards efforts. I got worked around it by adding just one slide to create a slideshow and then add sound tracks see how long that was divide that time into number of slides and re-run the slideshow wizard and add all the slides images and select all and set the slide duration, apply it and delete the first wizards track leaving the correct slideshow and sound track matching very closely.

TK, had another look at slideshow creation one can simply close the wizard and ignore it if you don't require transitions and then add sound track find length add slide images in one go and place them in same scene, new layer and adjust duration on a slide by slide basis using the properties panel I failed to notice before getting the correct slide duration by dividing the sound track(s) duration by number of slides, the program will round the value to the nearest frame. It is possible to use the wizard afterwards to import the slides and select all frames and modify the slide durations in one go too.

The devs here claim "no conversion quality loss". Does that mean this product is capable of doing what's called "smart rendering", where only a single GOP (group of pictures) on either side of an edit is re-rendered- while the remainder of the video is stream copied? I went to their website but couldn't find any further explanation. If you are editing a compressed format (such as mpeg2, mp4, avi, wmv, etc) and the entire output is re-compressed, then this claim is nonsense.

Like you, I checked their web site, checking the manual etc., and could not find any indication that it was capable of lossless cuts/joins. The phrase they use: "no conversion quality loss", taken literally is impossible, since to convert you must re-encode. That said, FLASH-INTEGRO LLC. is not located in an English speaking country, so if you want to be charitable you could say the misstatement was due to the language barrier.

Am a happy paid user for this. While there are many free video editing tools, VSDC is more powerful than many and does the job. It is counter-intuitive to use, however, they have good how-to guides that come handy.

EliteData, sadly they only sell annual license subscription, lifetime giveaways was an exception to their normal licensing model, looks like they've reverted to expiring giveaway licenses now. See previous giveaways using link from information panel above. The always free edition is quite capable though so you may not even need to rent the Pro license!
