I use 3 accounts on my home computer, and had to register the software 3 times. Why does GAOTD software have to be registered in each user account? After installing the program and registering it I switched to each of my other accounts and started Video to Picture Converter and was told that I was using the unregistered version. I used the same registration code 3 times to get the program working properly in all 3 accounts. Must be something to do with the GAOTD installer. I just used the program to turn a few seconds of video into a .gif file, which was a rather clumsy process and just plain didn't work. I had to use VLC to get the starting and ending times that I wanted, and I found that Video to Picture and VLC use seconds of different lengths. Video to Picture missed the sequence that I wanted to turn into a .gif, and I ended up with 75 pictures of a wall, instead of a .gif of a clip showing a man getting his head stuck up an elephant's backside. I probably need to follow the .gif making procedure a couple of times to get it right; the controls used to set the beginning and end of a sequence are extremely clumsy. I think Video to Picture Converter is pretty good but still needs development.

Installed and registered on Windows 7 64-bit with no problems.

For a test I converted a short piece of clip to an animated GIF. This didn't take long.

When I viewed the GIF I was agreeably surprised by the quality of the output which the menu item had described as 'Best'. I noticed though that the GIF when played back got to end and replayed again and again from the beginning. Sometimes GIFs are required to do that, but not always. I would like to see a menu option on the GIF set-up screen to choose between continuous play and play once.

That criticism aside, I liked the product. It is not something I would use often, and it will take a bit more practice to get used to all the facilities it offers, but it is certainly worth keeping and spending some time with.

Shows what good customer service does for product development, when they interact with their buyers....makes for success for everyone. Had version 4, loved for gifs, just uninstalled completely with iobit uninstaller so to install clean version 5 with the thank you! resizeable interface and all the new goodies everyone is raving about. Thank you for great software opportunity WonderFox and GAOTD and kudos to Jenny! Cheers, and happy holiday season to all.

Windows Seven installation here.

Already used on one of my videos and I only installed the program a half hour ago!

In the process of learning all that you can do with it but what I have seen so far .. Simply one of the best GOTD's ever offered!

Installation and registration could have been done with my eyes closed, that is how easy it was!

Thank You Jenny and GOTD!

Why are my comments not showing up? I've posted twice about the setup.exe not working because the program says the file is corrupt. I've downloaded the file 3 separate times and have tried to install with the same result each time. Am I not doing something correct?

Installed and pasted registration code as provided. Still indicated "unregistered". Loaded mp4 video. Plays, but will not advance frame by frame (clicking the button moves video far away from next frame). Uninstalled.

installed and registered easily. you have to close it and then open it again in order for it to show that you have registered..you may think it didn't, but it did if you did it the right way. and it did its thing. thumbs up. i dragged in an mp4 file and clicked a few buttons. i didn't know if i'd accomplished anything or not. i closed the program to see if it would ask if i wanted to save anything. it didn't ask. because i thought i'd done something when i clicked the buttons, i went searching. sure enough i found a bunch of jpgs i had created. wow, that was so easy!! this is going to be fun to play with!

Five Thumbs up for the Developers responsiveness!
Congratulations and many thanks to the developer for monitoring the thread and providing instant replies. This is the best I have ever seen.

Most of the times, the developers never respond, or respond after give away period is over. I have had developers force uninstall on previous working versions, then run into problem with new installation. Developers do not respond and I lost a working version.

Hope other developers learn from this.

I have now spent over 30 minutes - trying (on an Win8.1 64bit-8GB Ram - 2TB HDD) put ser# in - refused the ser# - & greyed out the "pencil" & the OPTION of 're-entering' a ser# - so what do I do now? Uninstall & re-install? This is not boding well for "keeping" this software. I have a very "OLD" request for your software - How about "WORDS" - they have served us well for almost 2 millennia - and just because there are pictures, (each picture is worth a thousand words - AND ALL OF THEM DON'T MEAN WHAT I "THINK" YOU MEAN) doesn't mean that your customers that are 50+ (me I am 60+ & 45 years in the business) are going to understand the meanings of 'your' pictures - just put an 'optional' menu in your 'well-crafted gui' - so that old-timers like me can treat this like a "WINDOWS" program & have pull-down menus where we can 'find' what we need, instead of 'hunt & peck' hoping to stagger onto the right option. Sorry, now that I have that out of the way - it still does not help me get registered. Any ideas, before I give up?

Jenny, I hope you can help. I have version 4 of this software from a different giveaway site last April. That site said "Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product." I see nothing in the program that checks for updates, and when I download version 5 from your site and enter my old registration code the program tells me "Invalid registration code." I can install today's GAOTD offer but would like to keep the free upgrades status if possible. Thanks for your help and for joining us on GAOTD!

For everyone at GAOTD and Watermark Software, Happy Thanksgiving, thanks for this great program, it works well!

Seems to be a nice product, but I am having trouble registering the app.
When I press the "Pencil" (which is greyed out..) nothing happens.
In the menu there is a "Register" (also greyed out..) when clicked nothing happens.
I have tried reinstalling the program, no change.
I have tried restarting my pc, no change.
I am on a Win7 Pro x64 machine.
Any ideas?

Installed and registered without problems, opened up to a simple and usable interface on the front of a versatile program.

This is a program that combines well with today's download in that you can convert your images back into an AVI file. A program I found quite useful in the past and it is available at the following link:-

Product works fine. I was wondering if I wanted to select a particular frame for a jpg is it possible to 'nudge' the timeline forward frame by frame rather than dragging the timeline slider.

Guess I'll have to go over some of those home movies to see if I can capture that special moment.

Very nice software. Easy on the eyes and intuitive GUI.

This is great for capturing screenshots - previously I used SM Player but that doesn't have the customisation of frame capture/per second, format or size that this has. I like that you can use the sliders to choose where in the video you would like to convert, as well as the ability to manually input start/stop times.

I like too that it's not over-complicated, if the developer wishes to add some more advanced customisations I hope they will have that in a separate advanced tab so that you could choose either Basic (current) or Advanced.

My only niggle is that I don't really see a use for the Emboss or Black & white filters. On my tests the pictures were pretty indecipherable, but perhaps they work better on different images.

Thanks to GAOTD and Watermark Software, for me this is definitely a keeper.

Does what it claims!

Best features: good output quality and speed conversion, plus the ability to select a frame of the video to convert to GIF adding effects on it like Sharpen, Noise, Brighten, Invert etc...

Users can even control the speed rate, so as to set how many pictures per second the software should process....very COOL and UNIQUE feature!

is the programme capable to select a short, say 10 – 15 sec. episode of the movie and convert to gif only that piece

Yes, there is a small "settings" button down on the right side. There you can define start&end time. And you must define, how many frames you want to catch.

To # 10. Press the register key to register. If it doesn't take, reboot, then try it. ( see # 5 )

Installed, but would not register with Registration key as provided in the “readme.txt” file – where key ends in BF9F1.

Tried on Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 SP1 machines, both result in ERROR message – when registration is attempted, the software responds with ERROR message stating “The license code has been expired!”

A question to the software provider: before I downlad and try the soft: is the programme capable to select a short, say 10 – 15 sec. episode of the movie and convert to gif only that piece, or the user has first to cut the episode out into a separate clip using another piece of software and convert it to gif thereafter?

I do appraciate a very constructive and user-friendly approach of the software provider demonstrated on this forum. That’s what many other GAOTD offerors could learn from today’s software provider.

I also hope that next version will be capable of detecting scenes and produce a starting image from each of them.

I generally use 'Free Video to JPG Converter' , a Freeware Program from DvdVideoSoft . It is capable to extract frames from video files to JPG files.

http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Video-to-JPG-Converter.htm

And as today's Video to Picture giveaway is from Watermark Software it should be useful ( having an extra feature of converting video files to GIF) . I have been using their Video Watermark Program for last 2 years which is really nice.

I'm pretty sure I used Video to Picture Converter 4.0 from Watermark-Software before.

Installed and registered on WIN7-64bit without any problem. This version 5.0 has changed a lot, just like a media player with an intuitive interface.

It works as advertised after converting a gif image. Will do further tests since I'm a bit busy now!

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system.

A (Chinese?) company without name and address, but with phone and fax part of WonderFox&family&friends, digitally signed E-Mig technology.

We had had version 4.0 on March 15th of this year http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/video-to-picture-converter-3-9/ and a previous version on June, 2010. After a so long time, the program should work...

To regsiter you push the regsiter button and the program is registered. Hello company, no time for a spell check?

The program has a new and better interface. The base is still the WonderFox Video to Picture Converter, GiveAway on January 2014 (or vice versa).
A resizable interface (that's new!) opens with a video player screen and simple controls. You load a video, define the sample speed, 1 picture per second or 1 picture per 10 seconds, you can choose the output folder and effects from none over grey scale, emboss or simple colors red, blue..., the output can be defined from JPG over animated GIF to windows icon (.ICO). The user interface is much better than in the previous versions.

The program does what it claims, you can capture also a picture manually. And I repeat from my last comment:

And to add, no, it does not produce a thumbnail collection of the video. No it does not produce a start picture of each scene (no scene detection).

Uninstalled via reboot. I use my existing software.

Hello Jenny,

thank you for your fast reply. This is always appreciated.

And yes, I have a suggestion. Drop your red, green, blue and other more funny than useful effects, instead add a combined thumbnail preview of the video - in the header all video attributes and try to implement an automatic scene detection. And there could be done even more, add a stacking algorithm to combine several following frames to a higher resolution output. With this you can charge even more money.

Greetings from Germany
