I like GAOTD offers and look at them all. Yesterday I tried this one as I really wanted to try it. But on 3 different machines i got about two dozen DLL error messages. I put them in a comment here and yet the owner of this software did not respond and the GiveAway peeps deleted my comment. What gives?

Please note that the software you download and install during
the Giveaway period comes with the following important limitations:
1) No free technical support
2) No free upgrades to future versions
3) Strictly non-commercial usage

avidemux is my current goto but it is not useful if subs are involved. Is this good with subs?

I was one where the install did not work so the unanswered question is mute

Hi, it should be possible to change the directory/folder where the program will install.

Installed from link just fine. Was a bit confused by the drag & drop (expected it to take the drop in the video viewing area instead of the blue, opaque area). Vid will play. However, none of the editing buttons do anything. There does not appear to be anything that highlights a section to be trimmed or deleted. There is no Help, nor is there any instructional video, nor even a link to the website. Going to the website (from the GAOTD page), there is nothing there about how this is supposed to work either. If they ever get it to work even as advertised, I would recommend a skip to beginning button or somesuch. A slow-motion option for finding the exact place to start/stop a section to be trimmed/deleted etc. would also be nice if, in fact, the software worked. Maybe the download from the non-facebook link is bad, and the one from the facebook link works? Maybe? Because the version I got in the zip file definitely doesn't really do anything.

The license is a lifetime license. See blue box under the green "download" button, that begins with "System Requirements".

Ted Lashley,
I saw that, but when I installed it, it took me to the developer's page and wanted me to click on a link to make it permanent for $9.99?

Bill, here's where I believe the confusion lies... The program you download comes with a lifetime license, but not with any updates. If you pay $9.90 (or whatever the exchange rate may be) you will get ALL UPDATES as long as you own the program. So it's almost the same, but not quite :-) Hope this helps.

Also install K-lite Codec Pack Basic. Don't know whether it's necessary or can be uninstalled.

Stewart Wallace, thanks for the advice- but is this a requirement? what are the benefits of the codec you mentioned? thx!

There needs to be a method for accelerating the timeline or changing the timeline periods. Otherwise the progam is much too tedious to use for anything thing other than selecting brief bits at the start of the video.

Tal Leyhoe,

Since you were lucky enough to run the software at all, could you please tell us what particular aspects of it happen to be tedious?

Also, anything else you noticed after trying its basic features? (For example, if you did, converting a video to mp3, trimming an ultra long video to save only a few interesting seconds (since they claim their software is ideal for ultra big video files, or after joining several short vids.)

Thank you. I will try to install it later on (in the unlikely event the publisher will sort out and reupload the installer so it actually installs things correctly). Mind you, so far they haven't bothered answering any questions here, or at least introducing themselves or the program, so I guess I will be installing the same rubbish package on the second machine.

I uninstalled it after my first attempt to try it because of the inflexibility of the timeline so I never bothered looking at any other aspects of it. LosslessCut is freeware and does an excellent job in selecting sections that can be saved.

Is this download of Video Split & Trim a permanent license or a 1-year or temporary license?

Bill, It says lifetime on the blurb to the right of "download"

Bill, it is advertised as a lifetime license.

Bill, it's lifetime, with no upgrades.

Bill, as written: Lifetime!

Bill, Always check the blue box on the right of the page. It shows the license term. In this case, "lifetime."

Appeared to install glitch free. The application however, didn't appear to do anything at all, and produced nothing whatsoever, so uninstalled.
