What advantages does capturing a URL as a PDF have over taking a screenshot of the webpage?

dan, the page will be searchable and possibly include the entire page length and not just one screen full as an unsearchable image without the help of an OCR engine. Another option that often works better on MS based browsers is to save as a *.mhtml file. But non-MS browsers don't normally render .mhtml files so cannot be share cross platform like a PDF file can be.

Guess will be the only one to offer a review of THIS prog, vs talking about some other. This prog seems to work very well, tx.

Well, this did not work for me at all.
1. I tried ESPN and it does not show the ribbon menu across the top. That is, it does not render the home page correctly. No problem. I was able to click some links and find my way to the area I wanted but the program does not render the page at all.
2. I tried Wikipedia. The program said that the security certificate had expired & it has not. Would not reach the site.
3. Tried The New York Times home page. Does not show a progress indicator & does not render the page very much. I tried to save an image and encountered an unhandled exception. I continued (that is, ignored) and it gave me a dialog box to save the image, so I did (well, tried). Nothing saved. Then I tried to save as a PDF. Another unhandled exception, ignored it and nothing.
I found the absence of a progress indicator particularly unhelpful.
Uninstalled.
I always appreciate that GAOTD tries to bring us useful programs.

onbekend, we got this version several times. The first time was on December 24, 2022. So improvements to the Firefox engine since then are not incorporated.
As long as you use this programme only to make pdf's of web sites itself, and not to do any on-line payments or so, that does not seem a problem to me.

Dave,
Above it says "URL Capture Pro uses Safari browser engine so it is perfectly safe to nagivate with it. In fact it is just like using any modern breowser with PDF export one click away."

onbekend, it's NOT 100% safe IF the system requirements are accurate as Vista compatible Firefox engine is ancient and many security vulnerability patches out of date!

RWW, it is not true... just download the installer and look inside with innoextractor and see for yourself... The marketing for pcwinsoft is often inaccurate. If I remember correctly safaris windows engine is abandonware 15 years out of date and has not been updated in years. SO is NOT safe either way! The Firefox engine used by this dates from 2018 so is unsafe to use on todays internet as it has multiple security vulnerabilities.

onbekend, buffer overflows and the like are the sort of vulnerabilities this ancient abandoned version of Firefox circa 2017/18 has... it could result in remote code execution. It is TLS1.2 compatible like current web servers so payment security is not an issue it's system security where it's vulnerabilities lie. I would never recommend exposing this to indiscriminate websites for capture and use the windows 10 Save as PDF virtual printer to archive website pages to PDF files. Or other virtual PDF printer if not on Windows 10.
