Performance is a hit or miss. Sometimes it does a good job in conversion (85-90% good) othertimes it has a hard time dealing with pictures. This is when converting a PDF to a Word document. Note that the conversion to Word is a RTF file and if you open with Wordpad rather than MS Word most pictures will be missing or badly converted. I give this application 3 and a half Stars out of 5 Stars. It's worth having if you don't have a better app for this job.

Regarding your program 'UniPDF'
Does your program have a command line interface ?
Such an interface allows you to call (execute) the program, whilst passing instructions such as -
Convert all PDFs in folder C:\PDFs\
Into JPGs
Placing the JPGs into folder C:\JPGs\
It would be nice if it could delete each PDF after it is converted to JPG
Similar functionality could also be provided WITHOUT using the command line.
That would entail the program having some settings where, we tell it where the PDFs folder is (to watch), and where the output JPGs folder is, and the program can be told to run minimized, and keep watching the PDFs folder.
Meaning every time the program sees PDFs (in the PDFs folder), it converts them into JPGs (into the JPGs folder) automatically.
It would delete the PDFs after it has converted them.

Small fast download and easy flawless registration following the directions in the Readme file. The link to register in the program interface wasn't bolded, but neither was it greyed-out.
Tested on a 576 page .pdf it did a very fast and accurate conversion. However I must say that my initial reply to comment #1 was inaccurate as I now believe the file was a .pdf print rather than a scanned document, so the program likely doesn't have any OCR function. (With a mere 9MB install download, I don't think that OCR would be a reasonable expectation anyway.)
Aside from missing OCR, the program is intuitive to use, extremely fast, small/light, and offers a good variety of output formats to choose from. (See my first reply to comment 1, below, for more detail on formats & options.)
I believe I will be able to utilize this program on occasion, so both appreciate and recommend this Giveaway. Thank you to the developer and GotD staff.

When you first install & launch this program, the developer's "How To Convert PDF To Word Document In 3 Steps" page pops up. If you scroll down to the comment section, in reply to a comment about word documents coming out as images, the site Admin wrote:
"...were you trying to convert an image-generated PDF file? If the PDF is generated from scanned image files, you will need an OCR software to convert it to word."
That makes it definite that this program has no OCR functions in any current version / license.

I've been trying unsuccessfully to register the software off and on all day. Read comments from the get-go so knew to use the info in the ReadMe doc. It's just not accepting that info. I've tried copying and pasting (my first choice for the simplicity), but then began typing it in. Neither works. Yes, I'm sure I'm using the correct characters. First I used the lowercase letter L, then tried the number "1". Says "invalid register code or user name". Even tried the code without the hyphen. I'm at my wit's end. Apparently it's working for some.

I had no problem registering like many have mentioned, however, it doesn't convert (to WORD,image or HTML) my simple 2 page PDF containing only 1 image. It comes back with a status of ERROR with no indication why, so I'm on the verge of uninstalling it.

Only works to convert very simple PDFs to Word or Image. DOES NOT convert any PDF file to Text or HTML.

Thanks. Bit annoying about the OCR part a no go, but for me worth it for what it does do which is major parts I need, PDF to Word that's editable. Many of these programs claim that but mixed results.

Why are the other guys not having the same problem?
I`m using Win 10 Oro x64 bit.
Everything seems to work...but the registration button. No matter what i do, cannot select it. Even tried Tab, etc.

I find that even disabling my Anti-Virus, and restarting the computer, does not solve the issue.
I have even created exceptions in my AV, to allow it to run, reinstalled, etc. No change.
When I tried to uninstall it, using IOBit Pro, it doesn`t even show up on the list.
I found the app`s own uninstaller, and uninstalled the app...it was still there.
I uninstalled it with Revo, by right-clicking on the app, and only then, was it gone.
Problem solved!

It installed just fine with my A/V, bitdefender. I had received a map in PDF as part of an information package yesterday. It converted the map to Word easily, and let me edit the word copy. Granted I wouldn't edit a map normally, but it was a good test.

Setup ran and claimed success but did nothing for me at first, no errors or anything. The readme said you might need to disable your antivirus to get it to install in this case. I turned off Avast and it installed fine. The registration was a little tricky. You have to use the name and key from the readme and then it works fine. Sounds like a useful tool.

Just installed on Windows 10 and it was quick and easy, as was registration using the info from the readme file. It does, indeed, do batch and it does attempt to OCR Word documents. It did image files pretty flawlessly, but had some trouble with complex word docs, as most similar programs do. The Word files are, however, editable. I haven't yet tried simpler PDFs, like I said the ones I have tried are quite complex (user manuals) with lots of elements on a page, probably not the fairest first test. The time it took lives up to what they bragged about. Two files, totaling over 60 pages took seconds (maybe 30) to convert to word and even faster to image. I have a mid-range PC (i5), so not the fastest machine.
For me it's a keeper, sometimes I just need to split a pdf into individual images and this does it pretty quickly compared to other programs I have tried.

Just tried a pdf file that was predominantly text converted to pdf, a book from Project Gutenberg, Alice In Wonderland. Book converted in about 20-30 seconds (didn't actually time it) and the Word document was editable and pretty flawless.

When i tested it on a pdf scan, it produced a Word file with the scan as a picture. NO OCR = optical character RECOGNITION.

Clicking on the registration link in the application's interface does nothing for me, either. I've of course disabled all anti-virus apps and the like. I am sure this will expire for us in a few days if we can't get to the registration dialog today. This is kind of strange - most registration functions are a menu item, not a simple text link in the corner of a window. Anyway, guess I will have no choice but to uninstall this. (Background: 30 years in software industry; I am not a newbie.)

In my email and in the wording above it states we can do batch converting. However, on the comparison page of your website, it states that the free version cannot do batch conversion, and is limited to 3 document conversions per day.
Which is correct? Can this version do batch conversion. Is this version limited to 3 conversions per day?

Peter, I had to register (the grey link worked fine for me) and then the limitations you mentioned were removed. The registration was a little tricky in that you have to use the name and key from the readme. After that, things worked fine.

It absolutely *DOES* OCR / convert to text. I just converted a 576 page .pdf of 1000 bartender recipes to a .rtf file, with completely editable text, and while I didn't time it, I'd estimate it did the job in 60-90 seconds.
When you put in a .pdf document you have the Output Format options of:
- Word
- Image
- Text
- HTML
On the settings tab, you can choose:
- .rtf or .doc as your preferred Word (output) Format.
- .jpg, .bmp, .tif, .png, .gif, .pcx, or .tga as your preferred Image (output) Format.
- For images, you can also choose the resolution dpi and 1, 8, or 24 color bits.
The 576 page document I converted wasn't perfect, but then again, the layout was relatively complex in parts and the .rtf file was a reasonable interpretation of the original.
I also converted to plain text. (.txt file) If there's any question about whether the program does OCR text recognition, the fact that this is an option (which worked with 100% accuracy in my test) should put that to rest. Shockingly, the conversion of a nearly 600 page .pdf to text took only about 20 seconds.
Outstanding giveaway, which I would give one of the strongest recommendations of any of the many programs which I have tried from this site over the last 10 years.

And now, as my comment sits awaiting moderation, I re-read the comments above mine and see that I missed something important... that the question only regards scanned documents. I'm not at all certain that the .pdf file I tested was a scanned recipe book. It may have been printed to .pdf originally, and what I thought was OCR conversion could be a simpler process which doesn't require OCR in that instance. If I could edit or delete my initial comment I would do that, but don't believe that I can.
I still am very happy with the speed with which the software converted my lengthy .pdf file and the variety of output formats available, and would recommend it to anyone who needs to occasionally convert .pdf files to one of the document or image based formats I listed previously, if OCR is not an absolute necessity. I agree that OCR for scanned images / image based .pdfs would be extremely desirable (and sometimes needed), but disagree with the opinion expressed above that any software without that feature is useless.

Joe Blow, Appreciate your reply, and your view.
My statement is based on the fact that :
(1) the text in any text based PDF (and non-text, like diagrams etc) can be copy & pasted from that PDF onto a Word doc, and
(2) that extracting such text, together with any non-text diagrams, tables etc is not a difficult coding feat to accomplish (unlike OCR) :
- proof of this statement is found in the multitude of freeware available that can do these extractions from a text based PDF and copy it, with the structure intact, to the Word doc.
However, finding software with really good OCR capabilities is much harder. I do need it, a lot of times, and thus far a previous year's GAOTD called Aiseesoft PDF Converter Professional did that the best - unfortunately over time I lost the free licence to to PC & hard disk changes.
There are others like PDF Multitools etc that does to an average job on OCR, so currently I'm seeking a really good one, that's not going to leave me with days of fixing the OCR errors.
