Download music from 1000+ sites anytime and anywhere!

UnHackMe was initially created as anti-rootkit software, but currently it has more features: scanning for "unwanted programs", checking for junk files, created by PUPs, scanning of Windows startup, services, drivers, testing Windows shortcuts, scanning for rootkits, testing the host files and DNS settings, testing all used files on Virustotal. The program uses its own database to detect what is better to remove from your PC. The important advantage of UnHackMe is that you can find an unknown malware by inspecting UnHackMe information.

UnHackMe eliminates various types of malicious software:

  • Redirecting;
  • Popup ads;
  • Potentially unwanted programs (PUP);
  • Unwanted processes;
  • Slow browsing;
  • Rootkits;
  • Trojans;
  • Spyware;
  • Keyloggers.

System Requirements:

Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 8.1/10 (x32/x64); 256 MB RAM; 40 MB of free disk space; Compatible with all known antiviral software

I approached this with some trepidation given the warnings, but it was not so scary. Nothing is deleted without warning, and I found it easy to use, and useful. Thanks.

I went to the registration request page and it says that the giveaway is over yet it still says It is available for 5 hours on GOTD. What's the go?

What I found that really helps is when who ever is promoting this software is answering important questions.

It installed well on Windows 10 Pro x64, then ran it, it stopped a couple times and asked me about a couple items, all which I marked as 'safe', then found it had tore up my system badly! It removed several game shortcuts (including some from here) all which have been scanned many times by my very good anti-virus and other Malware programs.
It trashed my audio software, trashed several other drivers! Then tore up my activation for my legal version of Microsoft Office which I bought through work! Finally found a restore tab in the reanimator section..which took me to a completely empty folder! Did some other damage too, and I am a experienced computer user with a degree in Computer Sciences, so don't usually have problems. Luckily I had a system restore from the day before, and system image from days ago, as I'm still trying to fix it's damage.

Seems to paint with a very broad brush. I noted it identified as suspicious many OK files. I think just scanning and then telling it to remove whatever it found to be quite unwise.

Note too that this giveaway does not include the rootkit remover. You need an upgrade for that.

Thanks for the offering GAOTD but I've used Spybot Search & Destroy for years as well as Windows Defender. These two give me all the protection I need.

Lifetime Usage of your UnHackMe GiveAway Version. Lifetime Free Antivirus Database Updates. So i would guess this is just a Starter Plan not the Premium Plan.

IMAGE your computer, folks BEFORE you install anything FREE that does this kind of cleaning. Then, if it doesn't work and/or it begins to crash your PC, you can put that image back on and restore your pc.

I agree with others who have said, "Don't use the program unless you're very well versed in computers." I used the previous version offered some time back by GOTD. Many false positives were mixed in with programs that could be deleted. My MP3 downloader was flagged as were some of my other programs which I wanted to keep. Many of the flagged programs would not be recognizable to a novice computer user as valid necessary files which need to be retained. So my advice is if you really aren't that comfortable with delving into the guts of your computer, I would pass on this software. One aspect I wish they would change is once you've flagged a file as a false positive, why don't they remove it from future scans unless something has changed in the file?

Dennis Comito,

a review which I respect, yet I am still chuckling at the claim the software deleted their hidden source files. I do recall reading an issue with false positives and a contact where you can submit the file for analysis to unhackme/Dmitry-hopefully with a positive response intended for a database update....I actually threw this version on my laptop just to identify the compatibility with ESET. extremely light yet I still do not need. I am curious why so many are experiencing false positives with this software and even more curious how many of those programs are either cracked or torrent downloads.....(aka the ignoramus shenanigans)again if you are unfamiliar with your registry or what the program is capable of doing it seems some should remain away....

I felt program was a little too powerful (and invasive) for a non-novice!
I noticed it generated it own `restore point'. That's good - I guess.
I believe I'll pass on this program for now.
Thanks, Harmon

Installed and scanned my pc and found a lot of "malwares" and deleted them. And now i cannot access my internet. Says dns server not responding. Dont use this program. I think it will delete windows system files. Cant even do a system restore as it deleted the restore files.

Reply   |   Comment by Razor  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+114)

Razor, I am not associated with Dimitri or Unhackme in any way yet if your suggesting unhackme deleted your hidden sources files that is ridiculous. If you are going to give a review, admit you probably used some cheesy optimizer or fiddled around with some useless giveaway program on here and ended up deleting those hidden files or windows update components. Rule of thumb, DONT delete anything , including with a malware software without a quarantine, as many can have false positives. This program is somewhat lighter than MB but far from its capabilities. Honestly, the program is perhaps mid-road and I do not need it, yet nor do I use or need my lifetime MBytes license..... Regardless if this version of unhackme doesn't have a restore option, grab the media creation tool from Microsoft, rather than wasting time trying to figure out what happened....Hey at least you'll end up with a freshly installed OS.....Try running an unhackme scan after and see if deletes your source file again lol

Razor, I had the same problem with "dns server not responding" the last time this was offered. I was finally able to do a system restore after restarting pc several times until it finally loaded to a point that let me restore and save files. Been awhile so I don't remember all I went through 1st tho. Just sayin.

Identified many files from free programs I use that I thought were not necessary so I allowed deletion. Mistake. Had to do a System Restore to get files back e.g. Calibre Ebook Management Tool. Too complicated for me. Will just stick with what I was using before. Uninstalled

No. It does not work constantly, but UnHackMe scans your system with a predefined interval.
Set it in the Settings.

This was offered a while back (can't remember how far back) and I gave it a try and didn't it find it as good as MalwareBytes, which doesn't deal with ransomeware, but I have Kerish Doctor which does. When I tested the previous version, it missed quite a few malwares that MalwareBytes detected straight away. Don't know if todays version if different as I haven't downloaded and it would be unfair to the developer and everyone else to pass comment on today's offering.

As any field engineer will attest to, these tools are indispensable. I have used RegRun for many years, which UnHackMe is a part of.

Not to be confused with an anti-virus solution. Use this in combination with SuperAntiSpyware / Malwarebytes to keep your system clean.

This GOTD gets my thumbs up.

seems to me this program misses a huge opportunity not being free. I mean that will make a little money with people that can afford it. but miss mass advertising dollars of freeware and FOSS grants for open source that would net far more income that paid software.

Well I installed successfully and it immediately did a scan as I would have expected. Then came up with a load of false positives...prompted for all my start-up items etc... kinda annoying to be honest I would have expected it to be more intelligent with what it showed as a problem...eg. syncplicity app was flagged...all my asus system board apps were flagged up. So not a keeper for me sorry...but thanks for the offer.

Reply   |   Comment by Loopins  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+59)

Hi Loopins,

This is not a bug.
It is a feature :-)

Your antivirus notifies you about viruses known to that antivirus.
No doubts.
It is great!
But there are a lot of cases when it does not work:
1) Unknown virus.
2) Signed Adware or PUP.
There a lot of PC Speedupers, Drivers Optimizers and other shit.
3) No virus files. Just a small link to web site.
4) ...
UnHackMe notifies you about some issues:
1) Marked red if detected by our database.
2) Detected as yellow if its is suspicious by heuristic.
3) Marked blue (Unknow) if we have no information about that.

Now you have the reasonable doubts!
You can mark good items as false positive.
UnHackMe accepts your opinion and checks your system with a polling interval.
If your system changed, you will get a notification about the changes.

Hope it helps!
Dmitry

ABMM, Sorry for negatives on the comment but I want to explain why. As a computer tech and seeing this time after time, I want all to understand this. Sometimes ransomware is not even reversible if you pay. Back up your stuff before disaster strikes. This is the most valuable advice available.

Reply   |   Comment by BD  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

ABMM, if a ransomware did its deal there is little to nothing you can do with any software. Having a full system image to restore just in case can save you.

This software has been offered before on GOTD and, as before, the same caveat applies: if you're not well-versed in the ways of computers, then you need to think carefully about the consequences of taking a lighted candle into a shedful of dynamite.

'Unhack Me' is software that does a job and does it well, which explains why on various computer-help Internet forums it's one of a number of favored diagnostic resources deployed by experts in talk-through problem curing.

The important thing to notice here though is "talk-through", because in all such cases the expert involved advises the user every step of the way: do this; don't do that; leave well alone until I tell you what to do next; etc etc.

If you're unsure of your own abilities and you don't have a computing professional to hand, or even a responsible, knowledgable friend, then 'Unhack Me' should be approached with caution -- not because it's bad at its job, but because it might just turn out to be a bit too good for your liking. . .
