Today Giveaway of the Day

Painting with light!

UnHackMe was initially created as anti-rootkit software, but currently it has more features: scanning for "unwanted programs", checking for junk files, created by PUPs, scanning of Windows startup, services, drivers, testing Windows shortcuts, scanning for rootkits, testing the host files and DNS settings, testing all used files on Virustotal. The program uses its own database to detect what is better to remove from your PC. The important advantage of UnHackMe is that you can find an unknown malware by inspecting UnHackMe information.

UnHackMe eliminates various types of malicious software:

  • Search redirecting;
  • Popup ads;
  • Potentially unwanted programs (PUP);
  • Unwanted processes;
  • Slow browsing;
  • Rootkits;
  • Trojans;
  • Spyware;
  • Keyloggers.

System Requirements:

Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 8.1/10 (x32/x64); 256 MB RAM; 40 MB of free disk space; Compatible with all known antiviral software

Epic fail! Entered my email for download on 3 separate attempts from GOTD yesterday. Never received any email from UnHackMe.

After having read some warning comments, I decided to uninstall this program. Alas it does not uninstall cleanly.

Neither Revo Uninstaller, nor Unhackme's own uninstaller, did find and remove all the registry entries.
I had to perform a deep search in the registry in order to hunt down numerous entries of Unhackme that were lingering about, and which had been missed by the both uninstallers.

Among many others, I found one very puzzling entry left by Unhackme, the entry called "Reviver".

All in all, it is not easy to unhack Unhackme from the registry, pun intended.

I will definitely avoid using this program in the future.

Used the last giveaway, v. 8.80. Worked well. Yes, use caution (but who doesn't) and don't use the blanket fix. For me, it was interesting what websites set off UHM with residue; and, it proved valuable in dealing with them. (Yes, I keep well-respected AV and Malware filtres running.) Thanks GOTD

Hi everybody. :-)

Not installed.
I installed it at least three times in these years.
I can't find my previous suggestions/advices to the developer (and I'm sure I posted them here or in idea informer).

This program:
1) isn't portable
2) isn't user friendly
3) could cause harm; don't believe me? Try a FULL scan, then fix everything it finds (if you're brave).

It could be useful to experts.
It could be dangerous for simple and intermediate users.

How could the program be better?
Solve those three problems, at the very least.

xilolee, based on what you and others (including myself) not including the ones that "heard of..." today's giveaway is receiving a lot of negative feedback ... Would have been good if Dmitry (developer) could have taken the time to answer some of the questions and doubts raised. Maybe he's not brave enough (for want of a better expression) to explain EXACTLY how beneficial his software could be.

I can attest to Unhackme's proficiency at finding and ending rootkits. I downloaded this program from GAOTD a couple of years back and soon afterwards picked up a rootkit. Nothing else I had on my computer could find it, much less repair it. The only way I really knew something was wrong with my computer was that the mouse behaved differently and I could not return it's function to my preferences. I ran scan after scan with McAfee, and a couple of others (forgive my memory, it's been a while). Nothing could find anything wrong with my Dell notebook. Unhackme did, however find a rootkit, extinguished it, and I regained full functionality of my mouse settings again.
One could argue coincidence I suppose, but the timeline of events was dead on for providing evidence that Unhackme had indeed solved the mystery. After using this software for a while, you learn to check EVERYTHING that Unhackme flags with it's online tester. I believe it uses Virus Total which is a free online scanner that allows a user to upload files to it's server, it then checks those files, runs them through several scanning agencies, and then informs you of the results. A good rule of thumb is if a file is flagged by only one of the engines, it's a false positive. Two or more is generally considered a virus.
I hope this helps in your decision making towards this program. It seems that mostly negative reviews have been posted and I wanted others to be aware that there are some positive ones out there as well.

Installed and activated without issue on my Windows 10x64 desktop. The initial scan found about fifteen issues which were mostly download manager and driver updater related entries, out of which I unchecked two because I knew the software to be okay. There were no system related entries aside from one registry entry. Unhackme removed the questionable entries and rebooted. Computer is running fine.

I had this one before and finally deleted it. Can someone give me any practical reason to use it while just about every program I have brings up some kind of warning? This program needs more clarity.

UnHackMe states it has added features but, it's real claim to fame is finding rootkits. How it finds and completely remove them, is anyone's guess!Because, rootkits can hide anywhere on your computer.
You can keep your OS safe from rootkits by making sure it's has all security patch's and up to date for known nasty things. Your antivirus software needs to be up to date and running too. Last thing, don't open email file attachments from someone you don't know. Stick with something like Avast and SpyBot and your be fine. Download it if you want it but you don't need it. Thanks to GOTD.

Despite its current high rating it looks like a fake rkdetector:
It would be nice if the developer gave us an explanation about what it's written here:

I'd echo the comments by Tim, Roscoe & Robert. I got this program the last time it was offered and tried it in a sandbox for a few days. I was impressed by the aggressive nature of its detection process and its inaccuracy. Since it was no benefit over my current firewall, it was uninstalled with more difficulty than seemed reasonable. It's not a program I would recommend to my friends or family.

Reply   |   Comment by Michelle  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Michelle, You might take a look at the list suggested at MakeUseOf:

If you have Windows 10, definitely turn on Windows Defender. It is much improved and does come with Windows so there is no ad nag screens. Most free stuff will nag you to death trying to get their paid-for upgrades.

I've used Spybot Search and Destroy , AVG, Avast, but only the free versions. I see no need to pay to get the extra stuff since what they do can be done by other FREE software. There are several good free programs that work only to detect ransomware.

All in all, any program you are interested in using, you can always search for more reviews from reputable sites. Need more help, just find me on Facebook under my name.

Have a very merry Christmas and a safe New Year.

Managed to download and install with seemingly no issues. After installation I ran a scan which found a few rouge files which I let Unhackme repair after which a reboot was required. However, after rebooting the Unhackme icon appears in the system tray but the program will not open. Uninstalled and reinstalled again and ran a scan and it found the files that it was supposed to have removed from my system and again I let Unhackme cleanup and once again after doing a reboot the program refused to open. Ended up uninstalling as it didn't appear to remove anything or run after "cleaning", disapointed because it looked as if it might be something I would have considered buying had it worked properly.

UnHackMe allows you to detect and remove a new generation of Trojan programs - invisible Trojans and will be a very useful security utility for your operating system.
UnHackMe tries to detect a very wide range of problems, and it can spot some malware, but in our tests most of the items it highlighted were entirely safe. Experienced users should check it out anyway, but don't take the program's verdict for granted, and be sure to inspect every item carefully before you hit "Fix".

The "Share Now" button created a '404 Link Not Found' message on my fB page.
The program downloaded and installed without any problems on my Windows 10 machine.
The Registration number is in the 'Read Me' file. The program registered without any problems.
I ran a full scan and the only thing it found were two programs that I had in my start menu which I know to be harmless.
I didn't like the scroll bar. My mouse wheel didn't work with it and it appears that the Top of the scroll bar is page 1 and the bottom of the scroll bar is page 2. It was a bit odd.
It disabled Windows Defender and replaced it with "Unhackme".
Since it didn't find any threats on my machine I assumed that Windows Defender was doing a sufficient job and this software wasn't needed.
I uninstalled it with 'Soft Organizer'. (I also installed it with Soft Organizer)
After the standard uninstaller finished, Soft Organizer found 60 remnants of the program that were left behind.
I might recommend this program to someone who isn't running any other program (Like Windows Defender). However, I didn't find anything extraordinary in the program that made me want to keep it.
