Be warned, if you update this you lose your registration!

The only other software I've used from GOTD was Glary Utilities which doesn't disregard your registration.

The program installed just fine and registered too. HOWEVER, I can't drag anything from Spotify to the converter program, because as soon as I click on something in Spotify, the converter program disappears into the bottom tray as an icon..

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I have looked at the tutorial, but that doesn't help.

I am trying to use this with a free Spotify account.

Legal or not, it does work. I'm listening to my first "rip" and despite one first-track hiccup, everything came out fine. I am a Spotify Family Premium subscriber so I can already download to devices, but I need to slow down or pitch change songs to learn them for my irish band. You can't do that within the Spotify interface so I have been using Scopify for years (and an older version of Spotify).
Yes, there is an incorrect dialog box when launching Spotify. And weirdly, the Spotify that gets launched can't play through the speakers. But it does rip through a playlist about 3 times faster than real time, and the MP3 tag info is correct.

Seems to work but as others have said I'm not so sure about the legality.
Track for track (vs ones I already own) the quality isn't quite as good but that could be what spotify gives to everyone, it's much harder for me to compare streaming music to a downloaded copy than to another download.

It defaulted on my test installation to only save the downloads as 64 kbps mp3 files. If this is what Spotify is serving to me, then fine, otherwise, I want 320 kbps mp3 files (and not ones upsampled to 320 mbps from a lower bitrate).

I really dont think GAOTD and Tuneskit would offer this program if there was even the slightest legality issue.

Pulsedriver, the use of this software is in many countries of the world illegal.

nibo1978, In that case its not advised you download it after all its up to the user to decide whether its legal where they are using it. the company only has to abid to its local laws

Ok, bit of a pain to get registered - Now, drag a playlist from Spotify to it - it promptly disappears back down to the toolbar - follow it holding the playlist with the mouse and it appears to add it to the bar at the top - Hit, Convert =- Absolutely nothing!

Also tried getting the actual link copied from Spotify for a single track and pasted into the "Search bar" - same result - Nothing - No conversion and no output?

Anyways, any thoughts on how to get this to work - except the olde uninstall/reinstall - Which I had to do anyway, as the 1st install didn't actually work!
Cheers

Installed and registered OK, but it tries to launch the Spotify app and fails, then stops. Just to be more clear: the Spotify app does launch, but this program doesn't recognize it. Win10/64b.
Uninstalled.

Also, be aware that it creates some entries in the registry containing Chinese characters

I'm surprised that GOTD are promoting software to circumvent copy protection which you agree to adhere to when signing up to spotify. It's clearly illegal.

Morality of this programme aside, it doesn't appear to work anyway. You can provide a selection of tracks from Spotify and press convert. It tinkers around for a little while, changes the track title to have MP3 and a bin at the end but unfortunately nothing is actually downloaded to the directory that you have specified (even though by pulling an album across, the program forms a directory for the conversions to go into). Pleased that I didn't have to pay for it! (Windows 8.1)

Software does not install, the software will not run, there is nothing after running the Setup file.

"ТunesKit Spotify Converter is not Installed"

is the message with the failure notice.

If you like Spotify and the music, why should it not be allowed to put the music on a medium without internet; an old WinXP machine in your own garage to listen to the music.
And every time when you wants some new music, you will use a normal internet computer to connect to Spotify.
In your own home with your own people: that should be legal?

Reply   |   Comment by Ootje  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Ootje, spotify let's you listen to the music offline if you pay for downloading it. How else would they earn any money, since you can listen so much for free (with a few ads every now and then)? It's not a charity company, and they have to pay the musicians, no?

And it's also possible to listen to your favorite music on Spotify, without being disrupted by annoying ads, by relying on this lightweight and easily configurable app:

Mario, it's like someone is offering you free beer but only few days a week and you say "screw those rules" and break into his bar.

Can somebody explain to me how this is legal?
Seriously, I'm very curious.

I can't help but feel this software is pirating music all over the place." Even if you are using free subscription of Spotify". Spotify has ads and other stuff for a reason.

Reply   |   Comment by Daniel  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Daniel, it bothers me too. But GotD gives us only legal programms, right? So... how does it work really?

Reply   |   Comment by Kasia  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

Daniel, I'm mostly using Spotify in my web browser and I've never heard of any 3rd party ad, only Spotify doing ads for themselves.
I don't think Spotify is making (the) big business with the free users.
