TwistedBrush Tree Studio 1.13 was available as a giveaway on January 2, 2020!
Tree Studio is a product born from TwistedBrush Pro Studio but with a focus on 2D tree creation with a simpler, streamlined interface. Internally the same great TwistedBrush brush engine is used, but with a single focus of making it easy to create trees of specific types. Tree Studio has pairs of brushes for each tree type. One for the frame and one for the leaves. The frame is algorithmically generated so it will be different each time. This allows you to create an endless variety of each tree type.

Painting and drawing with natural media brushes Paint Studio makes no compromises in offering the best of the TwistedBrush painting engine. Presented in an interface that's perfectly suited for creation of new art work using expressive brushes from thick wet oil paints and fluid watercolors to slick oil pastels and fine airbrushes and everything in between.
Luminance Studio is a Pixarra product in the Studio series with a focus on painting with luminance for both natural media and design style of artwork. To Twisted Brush developers... the reason you often need to have your users compromise their systems security model by running your program as an Adminstrator in order to have all the functions opperate is because you are incorrectly directing the 3rd party programs you use to produce the saved images (ImageMagick) to use a folder within the normally and sensibly write protected Program Files heirachy to store your inetermediate TGA files that are created to export each individual layers prior to converting them to a multilayered .PSD file. You should specifiy the user specific %TEMP% folder for temporary writes not the one you currently use in the case of one of the installations I have here:
C:\Program Files\Pixarra\TB Tree Studio 2.17\temp\
Do this correction accross all your products and you will reduce some of the complaints you have to deal with on a regular basis even with your latest versions! I have tested your imconv_2100.exe in the past on a previous giveaway and it happily works to and from the users %TEMP% folder without issues if the command lines are generated correctly.

This giveaway is identical to the previous giveaway version, the old license code also works with this installer. It was built in 2016 and is not sold and has not been sold as a commercial product for years. It requires the installation of a legacy windows component called DirectPlay in Windows 10. I find this product problemsome in that it is quite restrictive about what else you can do in it... It is possible to also generate trees and foliage in the real twistedbrush studio pro giveaway you just need to load the correct artsets into the shortcut tab you want. It's not as simple to generate the trees and foliage but it can do it well enough.
Note this version of Tree Studio does not provide any user interface way to change the canvas/image dimensions! That is one of the limitations of the CURRENT version 2.13 of Tree Studio DEMO!
BUT here's a workaround *grins* load an image created in a different program or device of the desired dimensions and it will force the new canvas to be that size! Then use the zoom controls and brush size controls to get the relative tree and other image component sizes you need. Once the new canvas is created you can use Edit | Clear Layer to remove whatever was in the loaded image file to get a clear background layer then continue on and work out how to draw something with this non-standard GUI :-)
PS there is another significant feature limit with this version in that you can only have 7 layers including the background, that's it so you will not be doing and complex works in this cut down subset of the real program and the latest version of Tree Studio is restricted to 10 layers including the background. While the real full TwistedBrush Studio Pro 23.06 allows upto 256 layers including the background. I've not tested the current Studio Pro 24 trial but 256 layers should be adequate for most products this could be used for.

Pixarra Support, better late than never but when are you going to address the improper folder and permisssions use in the the program files heirachy?
This programing style should have been phased out with Windows ME to Windows XP transition and certailnly when by when Vista was released!

I already had TwistedBrush Tree Studio 1.13 installed -- the folder's dated 10/1/2018 from a previous giveaway. Installing today's GOTD in a win7 32-bit VM added several files & folders to Windows Virtual Store [Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Local\ VirtualStore\] -- running TwistedBrush Tree Studio as admin added those same files & folders to the program's folder. Running TwistedBrush Tree Studio normally it showed a window to enter a key or run as trial -- I entered the key, it showed a pop-up saying it was activated, but asked for a key again the next time I started it. I ran TwistedBrush Tree Studio as admin, entered the key, and this time it took -- it did not ask for a key when started again. So run as admin.
I copied the app to a win10 64-bit Home VM & tried to run it as admin. It popped up a window saying that Direct Play had to be installed first. Clicked Next, and after Direct Play was installed, TwistedBrush Tree Studio started.

Thank you!
However, my copy continues to display "Enter license key..." under both the File and Help pull-down menus; and clicking on either one does not display anything like "already registered" as it seems it should. Re-entering the key simply displays "Success!" every time; but will it do that if accidentally re-entered after today or will it de-activate the license?
This does not give me assurance that it will remain correctly licensed with the supplied registration key-code after today.

(additional info)
I installed TBTS (as always, after my own VirusTotal check) using "Run as adminstrator" on the file Setup.exe. I then ran it both as a normal user and as a "Run as adminstrator" user and both times entered the license key, initially on the first-run "splash/greeting" window using the button options at the bottom after which the "Success!" was displayed. Later the key was entered again via the File and Help pull-down menus as stated previously, again, both as a normal user and as a "Run as adminstrator" user.
Following the initial successful registration(s), all subsequent launchings of TBTS as either user type no longer display buttons on the "splash" window (i.e., it's registered); however my point is that the "Enter license key..." continues to be (misleadingly) displayed under the File and Help menus.

I have a touch-screen display, and I noticed that "pinching" with two fingers results in a zoom-in, and "spreading" results in a zoom-out -- the opposite action of what is expected in practically every other touch-screen application nowadays (e.g., Google maps).

HMarx, yup pinch zooming is reveresed when using a zaptop touchpad too.

HMarx, there is a differnce between registered and unregistered product in that interface. If you enter an empty license key it fails to report "Success!" but if you do the same AFTER you had entered one of the correct keys... (this or the previous giveaways key) and gotten the initial "Success!" response you'll get "Success!" again even with no key entry because the stored key is the valid one. Also you can tell it's not a trial as it does not add a watermark of the tree_studio_watermark_01.png from the installation folder to any of your creations like the demo does.

HMarx, Our products don't influence touch display usage. This functionality on your PC might be tied to the mouse wheel which is used in our products.

Pixarra Support, completely incorrect. Your program inverts the zoom operation from the systems zoom controls. two different STANDARD interfaces that ALL other programs that impliment pinch zooming also zoom out on pinching and inverse pinching for zoom in.... if your program gets it wrong it is your program that is misinterpreting the user interface controls not the rest of the programs in the world! Sheesh what arrogance! Clearly if the pinch zooming guesture is converted into mouse wheel emulation you are zooming the inverse to the norm for the mouse wheel signalling.

Will this prog create flowers and fruits? Or just only trees?
Save | Cancel
drvajra,
None that I can find, only a list of "brushes" to "paint" tree "frames" (trunks, limbs, branches, twigs) for a wide variety of trees (non-fruit broadleaf and conifer), a list of brushes for leaves to paint on them, "ground cover", and more-or-less typical "utility" paint brushes.
It is fun to play around with and quickly create a nice-looking grove of various trees in just a few minutes.
The current version of Tree Studio (2.17) adds various palm trees, cacti, bamboo and grasses.
Save | Cancel
drvajra, just the tees trunk and three level of branches from the trunk and some basic foliage for each tree type and some ground covering... twitch grass or the like. It should be possible to import fruit and flower images into the program and one could hypothetically add them to a tree but to make those convincing you would need to include many layers of folliage for the fruit to be placed in front of some foliage but behind other bits of foliage like would be experienced in real life to give it some feel of depth. You would likely run out of layers with this version being limited to only 7 layers including background though.

drvajra, thank you for your question. Some fruit trees (with the respective fruit brushes) will be added in version 3.

TwistedBrush does not install on my Windows 10. AND YES I ran the Setup.exe as Administrator.
I did check through this link and did everything as advised. Still will not install.
I have 30+ years experience in the IT industry as a sys admin (Novel Netware, Suse server, Windows server),
At home I use many 2D & 3D apps. And NEVER had an issue installing Photoshop, Corel Painter, ArtRage, MOI3D, Silo3D, Vue Creator, Poser, Daz3D, etc to this computer.
Downloading this app appears to be a complete waste of time if you are using Windows 10 Home 64 bit.

Kenmo, try turning off virus protection until installation is complete. For me, it almost always works (AVG). (Windows 10 64 bit).

Kenmo, I have similar background and on my installed ok, but does not registered with windows correctly, when searching the name only shows the uninstaller, and when manually go to the directory and start the software I get system errors
Error starting module "win32dpnetgame".
better luck next time

Kenmo, it is possible that because this product requires, for some obscure reason, a depretiated directx component called directplay that is NOT enabled by deault on any modern windows that you and others may have trouble installing this if it is the first twistedbrush product you have installed on your much more modern computer than this was originally designed for.

Kenmo, your systems configuration is conflicting with the anti-tampering Themidia wrapper used when you see and *.EXE/*.GCD setup or activate file combination. What is happening is the Themidia anti-reverse engineering routines detect a level of virtualisation that your system, probably 3rd party security software, is doing and assuming it is a hack the protection attempt to obtain the original unprotected installer from the wrapper. SO it silently aborts the decryption and extraction into memory of the unwrapped modules and incorrectly skips to the successfully activated form of the wrapper. Yes this behaviour is unhelpful but it lets everyone blame the antivirus program pretending it blocked the installation for some false positive reason.... But the proof that never happend is the fact that when any anti-virus or anti-malware program blocks anything it always brags about it to show how wonderful it is and worth having on your system. In the VAST majority of cases if not all cases where this problem occours the AV program remains absolutely silent and no mention of the even will be in any diagnostic logs since the AV program did nothing to block the installation, just it being there caused the wrapper to skip the installation in entirety.

infi, I'm getting the same error and I have been installing GOTD programs successfully for many years. Any suggestions Pixarra?

infi, Windows may request permission to install the DirectPlay component. This is normal. Here is additional information on this.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dn323745%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
If Windows is configured to not automatically install optional components an error may be reported as unable to start Win32DPNetGame. In this case you may need to manually enable the DirectPlay functionality of Windows.
Control panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Turn windows features on or off
This issue is resolved in Tree Studio v2.

Hi Katalin,
We can suggest that you run the program as an Administrator. This should resolve the problem. You can find more information here:

Pixarra Support, May I suggest you read my comment at https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/twistedbrush-tree-studio-1-13-2/#comment-641539 and in addition to that move all other user specific writes out of the Program Files heirachy and place them where they belong in the systems %AppData% location which is read/write enabled for non-administrative processes for the currently logged in user... e.g. the Shortcuts.pre, Shortcuts.bmp, Shortcuts.fav files should be in the users\username\AppData\Roaming\TwistedBrush\TreeStudio\dada\artsets\Shrotcuts.* infact a whole bunch of files you have in the install folders subfolder called "data" and its sub folders you have needing to be written to during the normal operation of the programs... This might have been normal behaviour under windows 98 and continued through to XP but as of Windows Vista programs are supposed to put only its private executable files in the Program Files heirachy and they are all supposed to non-admin read-only. Global program read-only data files should be placed in ProgramData heirachy and user specific data files and config files should only be \users\username\AppData\Roaming\ heirachy. Doing it this way lets multiple non-admin users use your products on the same machine and each have their own sets of user artsets and access to the default artsets and any other customisations that are possible. The way you have it all users need to operate the program as full adminsitrators which is BAD PRACTICE and in doing so all users custom artsets are stored in the same location so there is no privacy between different users of any given machines and one user can change another users artsets which again is BAD PRACTICE.

infi, this is not an uncommon issue with running applications on Windows 10. However, we are working on this and it will be resolved in version 3 which will be released very soon.

Pixarra Support, Yes, I didn't have any problems with the program before. Maybe a new installation or an update of the operating system (insider) caused the problem. About 2-3 times it happened that I tried to use any giveaway offer. It happened as follows: I was able to open it, but then it immediately froze and I couldn't close it afterwards. At the moment I can't continue experimenting, maybe at the next opportunity. Thanks!
