I have tried many different methods to record a playlist from Google Play Music and this is the only one I could find that semi-works. One major problem you will run into when using the software with Google Play Music is that it has a hard time detecting when it goes to the next song to start a new recording. On a Windows PC it would never record into separate tracks. It would just keep recording song after song into one recording which is not what you want. All this happened after I bought the full retail version. Emailed support and never hear back.
Not finding any other solution I thought I would try the MAC version and had to buy the full retail MAC version again to try it out. It does not work with Chrome on the MAC but it does work with Safari. I set it to record a playlist and it looked like it was working but after it was done I found that about 10% of the time it would not detect separate songs and many recordings had 2 songs as one. It seems it depends on a little bit of silence between tracks to detect when a new song is playing. The only way I have found to fix this is to create a short 2 second track of complete silence and insert in between each track. It is a major pain using this method but it guarantees you have at least 2 seconds of silence which makes sure the program will start a new recording for the next song.
Another issue you may have that is more related to Google Play Music is lag while it is playing causing it to stop the recording and then start a new recording after it buffers and can start playing again. This seems to happen more likely than I would like and even though I have a super fast internet connection that should be able to keep up, Google does not buffer the data enough so it may pause for a few seconds before it kicks back in which will break your recording for that song. Because of this when you cue up a bunch of songs to record and then walk away to return to all the recorded songs, you are not 100% sure it grabbed the entire song. You can usually find the defective songs because there might be two recordings with the same name or one of the recorded files will just have a large number.
The nicest thing about this software compared to some others I have tested is the quality is much better. The software actually launches the web browser and intercepts the audio to get the cleanest signal you can. You can mute your audio and even play music on your computer with another audio player and it will not interfere with the recording.

Sound quality is great but recording is a pain as every time you wanna record, it would shut down chrome and you lose precisely the point you want to start record at. Happens if you would record from an you tube video with multiple songs.

This sounds good and a 3 year license is cool. I didn't see scheduling in the description. If you need scheduled recording, I use these often-
MP3MyMP3 and PlayIt Recorder. Slight learning curve but great.

Nothing exclusive, it intercept the audio going to the speakers, so do hundreds of other free such software. I use VLC to record streaming audio or video and has never failed me. The editor is very poor quality and the conversions are slow. All in all I give it 3 starts out of 5 possible.

Will this program also record from the microphone? I need something to record meeting minutes.

Grump Pah,
It doesn't appear to and it's a perfectly logical question. The option is not listed on their web site. This is where I like to see the developer getting involved. Audacity and Lame are your logical solutions. Small footprints, albeit a little bit of a learning curve. And free along with a large community support. On a personal note. The down votes today are beyond ridiculous. Those of you that sandbox and beta test. Good for you. Your comments are (most) always appreciated ( I don't need to remind you of the really good reviewers that have been driven away from this kind of negativity). But most people prefer to read the comments from current users and decide whether the program suits their needs before downloading. JMHO.

Sid, don't mind the rating of the comments, the content is still the same (for those that really read the comments thoroughly). Would still be a nice move if GOTD could implement at least a captcha for all votings, like they have in place for comment creation. This is going on for a few weeks from what i remember, looks like GOTD is indeed being targeted from someone with shady intentions. But since it's pretty easy to figure that one out, i'll keep visiting and giving my 2 cents (if possible) despite of that. =)

Grump Pah, well, there is no way to change input or output from within the program itself, so if you don't use a third party application of any sort that outputs the microphone input directly, there is no way for it to intercept and record.

Sid, I find that far more objectionable than a tide of negative useful votes as whether people find a given comment useful or not is purely a subjective thing and not a popularity contest. i.e I don't post for aproval, I post because I believe something should be said about what I am waffling about LOL

This looks exactly like AudFree Audio Capture given away here on December 10, 2018. Since i already wrote a lenghty review there, i will just copy the most important parts from there to here because it's the same program, just with a different name.
Installation and activation went smooth, this one doesn't require some sort of driver to be installed, so that's a plus. After registering the program, it still displayed the "Buy Now" basket in the GUI, aswell as the "Buy Now" option from the dropdown menu, that's kinda confusing and wrong.
The way how this program works is basically a MITM (man-in-the-middle) one, it intercepts the audio played from applications you can select and run from the launcher window, you can also just drag&drop application shortcuts directly into there.
In my test i wanted to record Windows Media Player audio to a file and it did properly.
Some notes
- The trim feature is kinda cumbersome
- Automatic tagging (it's using Gracenote, as far as i could track the domain name and IP AudFree connects to) is sometimes inaccurate, giving wrong results, requiring you to manually edit again, otherwise it's able to preserve existing tags (like directly from Spotify)
- Manual tagging is ok
- The merging feature works, it then uses the first tag for the filename of the merged audio
- Resizing windows is impossible
- Renaming, resizing and rearranging launcher items does not exist
- Stop button closes the opened application instead of just stopping the recording
All in all it does what it claims, could just use some more work when it comes to usability and customization.

Chasm, Yes I recall a previous giveaway I tried that had a pretty much identical GUI and claimed functionality and limitations in that it was not capable of recording from conventional input pins. I tried it and was unimpressed so removed it and its installer... this time I got this to capture the first spotify stream plus meta data but the second stream was prefixed with two advert streams so ended up a mess and the meta data was all messed up too. It needs to improve its stream splitting so each advert gets its own audio file and meta data and each track gets its own audio file and the correct meta data.
