I followed the instructions to install the Dreamweaver extension with no luck. When I choose to open the file with Sothink I get the error message:
"Failed to open 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\SourceTec\Dreamweaver\DWSothink.mxp'. The file does not exist, or its format is invalid."
When I try to open it with Dreamweaver what I get is "Failed to open document."
Can someone help?

What a great program! After using it, I would have bought it had I known it even existed. What a help this will be.

Downloaded and installed easily. A refreshing change after yesterday's software challenges. Thanks.

Thank you GAOTD for the free software. Installed and registered OK on W XP. I downloaded hoping to use it one day. Looks neat. I'm not a web developer but it looks easy to figure out what to do with this.
thanks

To install this extension later please follow these steps:
I think the key word here is LATER!!
Ignore that for the time being and just click "continue".
I don't have D/W so got the same message, set up continued ok anyway.
I guess if you DO have Dreamweaver and want to install the EXTENSION later then you follow those instructions.
That is how it worked for me, hope it helps

Downloaded very quickly, so fast in fact I thought nothing had happened.
Installation, set up and registration went smoothly.
Programme loads and runs OK, no problems, it is [reasonably] easy to use, especially from templates, which may be cheating but a good place to learn.
I also like the fact I can make Google site maps from here, well, make them easier than I used to do. I am an amateur designer who does this for fun.
I am beginning to like SOTHINK even though I had never heard of them 6 months ago, so thankyou SOTHINK and GAOTD.
Oh and to thee who asked why don't they put it all in one package, they DO!! It just aint free today, heheheh.
And, [yes I know this will get negative votes!] maybe insead of asking why, why, how and what will this do for me etc, take a look at the developers homepage, often most of those questions are answered there. This is a "comment on the software" forum, not a Q & A.

I'm getting this error when I try to install:
Setup failed to launch the Macromedia Extension Manager while installing Sothink Widgets extension for Dreamweaver. Please check if you have installed the Extension manager correctly. To install this extension later, please follow these steps:
1.Open Windows Explorer;
2. Open the folder to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\SourceTec\Dreamweaver\";
3. Double click the file "DWSothink.mxp" in the folder and install it.
When I doubleclick on "DWSothink.mxp" it does nothing. Can someone help me out with this issue?

This Give Away is absolutely fantastic. I've been trying to get this for a while. Sothink Tree Menu is completely functional, user-friendly and feature-rich nd you guys at GOTD are an answer to pryer. God bless you.

I STILL can't get the registration to work - after three tries and taking the advice of #36. Any ideas? I'm XP Home Ed.

So what is the practical, personal application for this?

Exellent software, thank you GAOTD.

Downloaded and installed the software just fine but as it was mentioned earlier, many of the site links (tutorials etc) are not loading or working properly (http://www.sothink.com/product/treemenu/tutorials.htm for instance).

jscookmenu is great and free, and customizable within a js script (great for dynamique menus with user PHP customization).
This product today, I see only a benefit in it for people who know nothing about javascript and who don't want to learn (and prefer to do crappy copy-past snippets and hope it works).

Seems to run smoothly... uncheck dreamweaver in the install options, if you don't have it. BUT... took me two tries... Have the readme open when you go to register and cut and paste from that... the auto register doesn't seem to work on this one. Maybe it's just me..lol.

Installed, registered, & works on Vista Ultimate 64bit without a hitch.
Thanks GOTD.

A Few things:
- Why can't SoThink integrate all of their various HTML/CSS/Javascript apps into one, complete application? Why sell one package for trees, another for DHTML menus, another for CSS stylesheets, etc.?
- Installed and ran fine on Windows Vista x64 Home Premium
- Thank God this wasn't just another "Media converter Giveaway of the Day"!!! [how many can one person need? how many can developers bother to produce? GOATD is determined to find out! :) ]

Some quick notes, as I'm not designing webpages and would be only downloading for future use, anyway.
As TK says, the help link he posted gives "file not found". However, I didn't have any trouble with, at least, the first tutorial. Although it goes kind of fast. You might need to replay a time or two. Vista Home Premium. IE7.
It seems a little large when compared to the other two. The zip for CSS Tab Designer is only 1/3 the size. And the Cool Tree scripts zip is only 250k. Of course, those are scripts, vice an executable, and you'd have to learn to run them that way. Of course, if you're learning java html coding anyway.... And, of course, Tree Menu might have many more features than the smaller software.
Actually, Tom, SoThink has a page showing what features are the same and what are different between DHTML Menu and this software:
http://www.sothink.com/product/treemenu/differences.htm
To be proactive and try to head off a bunch of comments. GOTD doesn't really want to go to the trouble to come up with different licenses for commercial and non-commercial giveaways. So giveaways that are primarily commercial are basically unlimited demos. However, you can use this software to learn this type of webpage development; to practice developing pages for friends, family, and acquaintenances until you're ready to turn pro; or if you're working in a non-profit capacity.

Not the best I've seen. Definitely a lot of other alternatives are available that are free. I doubt I'd pay for an entry level product such as this. I guess this is geared more toward a web designer who doesn't do much programming. The COOLjsTree alternative listed above is a good alternative. Any of the javascript frameworks (jquery, prototype, etc) all have very good treeviews, plus with many additional options such as smooth scrolling, ajax loading, etc. Thanks GOTD, but I'll pass today.

Installed and Registered without a problem on my Vista system. HOWEVER, the Dreamweaver extension/plugin did not install correctly and the instructions in the installation-generated error message did not work.
Any ideas as to how to get the Dreamweaver extension to work? THX!

Very nicely described.

Very Nice Menu Creator! This is perfect for those of us who are SEO savvy! Nice unique templates added to the software! User-friendly interface! Great for newbies too! I don't know why it took over 5 minutes to download this less than 5mb zip file, but other than that, no problems with registration. A definite thumbs up for anyone wanting to create a quick navigation bar that is SEO friendly.

Thumbs up! VERY EASY! Works great on XP sp2 here. :) Yes, this is for webpage building, & it's really nice. I usually do my own html for my sites, but the thrill is gone, & I could really use these very easy to do, professional menus. Maybe my site won't take so long to re-build next time I have to do that again, which is any day now. GREAT webpage helper!
Thanks SoThink & GOTD! :)Maybe I shouldn't say this, but..I really appreciate that you let us have a reg key, as I will probably get to use this once before I have to do a reformat AGAIN, & I'd sure be sad to only get to use it once! :)

Just for the edification of all: a tree menu is a part of a website (or any HTML document) which allows the user to navigate to another page. Sub-pages are grouped under main headings (Home, Products, contact, Downloads, etc.) and pop out when you select one of the main headings, giving you further choices. Regular HTML code doesn't do that, so Java scripts are used to get the popping up and motion effects. You can write them with a text editor, but it is a lot easier to use a program like today's giveaway; just like it's usually easier to use an HTML editor instead of notepad for a web page.

@10 - Terry regarding eBay - you can list using html so this would work fine for you if you need to put a tree (maybe for navigation links around your eBay store) up for visitors/bidders.
This giveaway is comparable to UltraMenu...wish I'd gotten it before! Thanks GOTD!

This is a very nice offer especially if you have the other Sothink menu products. However, as a standalone I’m suspect a user would be unable to fully appreciate this program. The reason I say that is the developers hype emphasizes “It is a family member of Sothink DHTML menu products”. Personally, I don’t have any major objections with them marketing this program that way. It’s common for developers to tie their products into a family then market them as a package deal. So you have to be cautious, keeping it in mind that there may be compatibility issues if you’re using some alternative program in conjunction with today's GOTD.
For an alternative, I would recommend COOLjsTree JavaScript Tree Menu. It's a program enabling the user to expand/collapse unlimited levels of the tree without the hassle of reloading. Another plus is that the script does not require FRAME or IFRAME tag for work.

Well it is going to take some effort on my part to learn to use all the features of this program, But it sure is "cool". Installed on Windows 7 just fine if you run it in the XP mode. I am new to all this but I was using it to make Trees on my first try. So for folks that know what they are doing this must be a real help. That's all I know.
.
It is a good one
